>When we launched Artifact, we expected it would be the beginning of a long journey, that it would lay the foundation for years to come. Our plan was to immediately dive into our normal strategy of shipping a series of updates driven by the dialogue community members were having with each other and with us.
>Obviously, things didn't turn out how we hoped. Artifact represents the largest discrepancy between our expectations for how one of our games would be received and the actual outcome. But we don't think that players misunderstand our game, or that they're playing it wrong. Artifact now represents an opportunity for us to improve our craft and use that knowledge to build better games.
>Since launch, we've been looking carefully at how players interact with the game as well as gathering feedback. It has become clear that there are deep-rooted issues with the game and that our original update strategy of releasing new features and cards would be insufficient to address them. Instead, we believe the correct course of action is to take larger steps, to re-examine the decisions we've made along the way regarding game design, the economy, the social experience of playing, and more.
>So what does this mean?
>Moving forward, we'll be heads-down focusing on addressing these larger issues instead of shipping updates. While we expect this process of experimentation and development to take a significant amount of time, we’re excited to tackle this challenge and will get back to you as soon as we are ready.
>How can we cause more players to get addicted to our shitty RNG game like we managed to do with CSGO and DOTA
Christian Martin
They're admitting Artifact was a failure. Are you retarded? Can you not read?
Jace Anderson
>>Moving forward, we'll be heads-down focusing on addressing these larger issues instead of shipping updates. No more relaxed management style. Gabens gonna go crazy with the whip like an Egyptian Pharoah
Jaxson Scott
>We thought good game >Turns out, bad game >We try fix bad game real big Is that dumb enough for you
Wyatt Williams
>we literally only built this to double dip off retards listing cards on the steam marketplace
>we had absolutely no concrete plans for this game beyond that, no thought or effort was put into it, despite hiring a legend to help us make it
>Show my knife collection unto the interns again >It has been too long and they mustn't forget
Jackson Clark
Not a valvedr0ne but I actually feel bad
Camden Howard
Valve is taking so many L's lately. Hopefully, this wakes up Gaben's fat lazy ass
Angel Morris
Should have made the game F2P I'd have no-life'd it then but OOPSIE not gonna pay money when there are FREE CARD GAMES out there to play instead.
Adrian Sanchez
why not just make it free to play
Luke Perry
>What did Valve mean by this?
They are admitting they fucked up knowing what players want.
This is actually pretty admirable of them.
Zachary Davis
Admirable is a stretch, it would take an EA level of stupid for them to try and pretend they know what the fuck is going on after this colossal failure. They're just doing the only sensible thing - admitting they fucked up hard and promising to do their best to fix it.
People who refund still exist in that list. They could've had 50k refunds out of 60k purchases.
Colton Long
Unfortunately their once great franchised which they've ruined are still printing money with little to no effort behind them.
These kids who play "Fashion Souls" want to buy knives, hats and whatever other nonsense Valve will sell them.
Jonathan Bailey
You might have noticed some time ago valve realised they could buy games from indie developers and make content for the sole purpose of profiting from micro-transactions and skimming off the market with a pseudo economy. They stopped making games or giving a fuck. Im actually glad the usual brain-dead retards who think expensive = good didn't float this project.
Sorry sweetie, but Gabe made sure you lost your refund right the moment you completed your tutorial and received your """"free"""" packs. Realistically almost no one refunded Artifact
Charles Murphy
Fuck Valve
Hudson Lopez
>dude what if we just made it f2p like every other card game in the history of card games there I just fixed it, hire me valve
Nicholas Nguyen
By the time Valve relaunch the game people will already moved on from card games.
Aaron Rogers
>Artifact is a massive failure >Valve would still rather use resources in trying to revive it than to develop on TF2, HL3, L4D or Portal What the fuck is wrong with them?
