i've played through that whole game so i know it works on dolphin. make sure your rom crc matches a known good rip and you're using a dolphin dev build. at worst you could upload your save, have someone get past that scene and make a save for you at the next point.

I hear the vita/ps4 port of 2 is just the psp port but higher res, 60fps constantly, and a few tweaks, which is appealing to me since I know jap (or rather, i'd like to practice my jap beyond kata/hira.

I'd recommend trying CV chronicles on ps1. Really solid title. also when you get to playing rondo of blood i'd say the PSP version is the better choice.

I'm actually glad Retroarch keeps track of your hi score unlike standalone MAME but I'm sure you can create a file that does but I never knew how. It feels good to try beating my previous scores.
