2006: Kingdom Hearts is voted one of the 10 best franchises ever

KH3 was mediocre, that's what happened. And it's not nostalgia goggles, because I replayed KH 2 a month before release and it's superior to it in every way.
Osaka gameplay and rushed sequel-bait story
>2006: Ansem commands darkness
>2019: Ansem slips on banana peel "ooo you pesky kids!"
I had fun playing it but the story really blew and overall probably was too easy.
Realistically how would you fix Kingdom Hearts at this point?
It wasn't very good at all. KH2 is such a superb game even today, even if its gay as fuck. I guess the rumors about Osaka team was more than a meme.
Osaka Team's and Nomuras incompetence. So basically everything. I'd still rate it 7 or 8 tho.
Reboot, or KH2 remake, or KH1 remake, or act like anything after KH2 didn't happen and continue from after there.
KH3 is literally "Missed Opportunity: the Video Game". It just falls flat in most aspects and doesn't resolve shit in the storyline.
this guy gets it
anybody saying people are just nostalgia fagging for 2FM are wrong, the game is just superior, its STILL one of the most refined action games ever made
Remove the Disney shit and bring back the tightness of KH2.
So many things went wrong. Disney became selfish pricks, no Final Fantasy characters, generic systems, a failure to give the MAIN CHARACTER any credit for all the shit he did in the previous games, tons of spin offs that only served the purpose of re-using an already mediocre villain, a lack of commitment to killing characters (Too much fan service) I mean honestly the list goes on. The game could have been good, even with the ass pulls from KH1 - 2, but it just... Wasn't.
>KH and KH2
Was released during a time when most Vidya story and action was sub-par and "LIGHT VS DARKNESS" was considered good writing
>KH3
It's gameplay is mediocre and it's story is heavily exposed
Square Enix sucks now, that's what went wrong. I'm still flabbergasted that people had such high expectations of this game.
KH3 ONLY appeals to the fans that started with KH1 and kept up with the side games. Meaning OLD aging gamers.
This franchise is not kind to newcomers. And it's not kind to newcomers EVEN if SE made those Remixes and put Archives in KH3 itself. About those Archives it's like FF13 and Data Logs. No fresh gamer wants to be told:
"Now read this date and information within the game to understand it."
That is not how gamers function. Especially young ones who like cartoon stuff like Disney.
So we have a franchise that isn't kind to newcomers. And frankly it holds no allure and NO DRAW for newcomers. Kid gamers now see Kingdom Hearts as cringy. They'll prefer playing their Minecraft or Fortnight over playing Disney's Movie Shill game and it really hurts KH3 that modern Disney movies are very mediocre.
Also let's admit one thing MOST gamers are men. And did you see this video:
youtube.com
See how it's mostly adult women? Kingdom Hearts is a girl's series. And most kid gamers have no reason to play the series because of the girl fueled fanbase on top of not having interest in Nu-Disney. And worse? The story is very badly constructed and executed, just BAD. And the gameplay is hit and miss and in general just not that consistently great.
Right now this series is being crushed under the weight of so many flaws that it has. KH3 is probably the final hurrah of the KH franchise. It's not winning over the hearts of new kid gamers and the veteran fans are going to be even older by the time KH4 comes out and possibly lose interest.
Nostalgia goggles + KH3 being overshadowed by other games like RE2make, DMC5, and Sekiro.
Reminder that KH2 was considered a disappointment by many people at release.
> Step 1: Reboot The Series from Scratch (Mandatory)
> Step 2: Restrict Nomura to Character Designs & hire the Heavensward Team to direct KH
> Step 3: Make Kairi the Series Protagonist
> Step 4: Have Sora/Riku replace Donald & Goofy as her Companions
> Step 5: More Disney & FF shit, less OC's
> Step 6: Have Disney & SE villains be the main antagonists in every world
> Step 7: No more Spin offs under any circumstances
> Step 8: Include niche SE games as worlds, as a way to gain interest in them like Smash
> Step 9: Have Ansem be the only OC antagonist in the game
> Step 10: Add actual RPG elements, like Build types & customization
That's literally it, what you have now is a better version of Kingdom Hearts 1, this is all they would need to do to fix the franchise.
>Reminder that KH2 was considered a disappointment by many people at release
Because it actually was, don't change history. KH2 is only good because of FM.
>Make Kairi the series protagonist
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>Make Kairi the Series Protagonist
Dropped. Sora is the goat, just like donald and goofy. Get the fuck outta here with your waifu bullshit
>KH2 Sora
>Cuts down buildings, duel wields, throws bodies, steals weapons, plethora of movement options, oozes swagger
>KH3 Sora
>Rides tea cups, fights with yo-yos, floats like a pixie, can't fight a XIII member 1v1, looks fucking gay
>being able to talk to girls scares away guys
what is this autistic mindset
>Undertale was talked about for MONTHS near endlessly
Really makes you think
Let Xehanort win so that he could reboot the universe of the franchise. But he lost now the convolution continues.
Honestly? The series was always doomed. Nomura is not suited for this kind of job and Tai Yasue is a big Nomura Yes-Man so he's no good either. Untalented people being given a property is going to eventually destroy it. Sure Nomura succeeded with KH1, but remember it was a simple game with the least amount of original content that BANKED on:
1) The weird marriage novelty concept of Disney and Squaresoft producing a game.
2) Final Fantasy cameos.
3) It used the beloved Disney Renaissance Films from the 90s for the most part which young gamers at the time still remembered fondly.
It's still the best individually selling KH game and that kind of lightning in a bottle is NOT going to repeat.
Most of the fanbase is entirely female, girls love Disney Princess as evident by the fact that it's a 45 Billion dollar franchise. People only hate Kairi because Nomura is so incapable of writing good characters, so she's rightfully seen as a Joke. KH should have been a simple wholesome Disney Princess story about Kairi, Sora & Riku traveling across FF & Disney worlds defeating Heartless & saving the worlds from destruction at the hands of iconic Disney & FF villains
Internet killed long time videogames rumours, merchandising and other stuff.
Now a good part of the game it's the "hype season" and the sells in first month, and finally jumping to other game in hype season.
No one cares about your waifu bullshit, user. Sides, we all know that the fujos’ bring in the bucks.
Undertale was a great game, that released when everything else was garbage. KH3 was a shit & overly convoluted game that released during RE2make
> Wanting a female lead character is not allowed & immedietely qualifies as "Waifu"
> Having a generic Anime Shonen Protagonist is completely okay
The absolute state of KHFags
>a lack of commitment to killing characters (Too much fan service)
This is a Nomura exclusive flaw. Remember how in FF7's CGI movie Nomura revived Rufus and Sephiroth? And worse Sephiroth dies again but ends in a "state" where he could potentially always come back to life hence "I will never be a memory." Truth be told I'm scared of FF7 Remake because for all we know he will revive Zack and Aerith in some DLC and don't say it cannot happen, FF15 did some alternate reality stories garbage.
Nigger, no. People trashed KH2 on release too.
Why do people conveniently forget how disappointed people were with KH2 vanilla?
> One of the 10 best franchises
What were the other 9?
It became a joke of itself. KH1 was so good. It felt like an adventure. KH2 was good but it set a bad precedent.
>implying Kairi isn’t generic as shit
>wanting to cut Goofy and Donald as party members
KH2 was trashed on release for "Press X for awesome" reasons, as well as various retcons- The people who didn't like it moved on, the people who did like it kept playing. It does help that the game has been re-released multiple times since then, and Square actually put some effort into the re-releases. Adding Critical mode made a lot of people happy, including the Roxas boss fight when you get to the Nobody world made a lot of people happy, and because a lot of people never played the Spin Offs 2 felt like an open and mostly closed story. It's a game that makes sense in the confines of itself. Sora is still mostly the hero, they stop the bad guy, and everyone moves on. When it was released it's flaws were apparent, but over time those flaws become less and less prevalent and the game adds more and more stuff for the fans, later new people play the game and see the finished project and they like it.
This was a long time ago but it was these
> 1. Zelda
> 2. Final Fantasy
> 3. Metal Gear Solid
> 4. Super Mario
> 5. Super Smash Bros
> 6. Resident Evil
> 7. Kingdom Hearts
> 8. Metroid
> 9. Castlevania
> 10. Street Fighter
> FF, MGS, Street Fighter
OOF, that didn't age well at all. Wonder what this would look like if it was made today
This, i would assume
> 1. Zelda
> 2. Super Smash bros
> 3. Super Mario
> 4. Pokemon
> 5. Metroid
> 6. Persona
> 7. Resident Evil
> 8. Castlevania
> 9. Monster Hunter
> 10. Final Fantasy
because kh3 was trash and nomura is a hack. he only got popular because of his emo designs appealing to emo myspace kids in 2002-2005 which is when kh, advent children, kh2 etc all happened
>forgotten about after 3 weeks
>daily threads on Yea Forums
Pick one.
Oh, and it's far more talked about than the other Jap games of this year, it's even more talked about than DMC despite coming out months earlier.
no there isn't
any threads about it are shitting on it or discussing what went wrong
no one cares to discuss its actual contents or merits because its all shit and has none
Keep living in those delusions retard.
>any threads about it are shitting on it
all because of a ban evading FF15 fanboy. He refuses to let people say anything good about it and spams the threads with his same shitty webms over and over
I played KH2 a month before KH3's release as well but I have to disagree there. The only thing I think KH3's combat misses is reaction commands.
There's literally 3 threads up now mentioning kh3 in the op with 2 made just to shit on kh3 and the 3rd having everyone in the thread shit on kh3
>b-but muh boogeyman
Shut the fuck up you ban evading fuck
Correction, a small subset of autists are shitting on KH3 because they have nothing better to do with their lives, while everyone else enjoys the game and discusses it. And regardless, Yea Forums isn't the internet. Fuck off loser.
That sounds really bad. I thought that aside from music, bosses, and combat mechanics, KH II was pretty boring. Combat mechanics are great, but the normal enemies get old fast, the level design is awful, and most of the Disney worlds are just abridged versions of their movie counterparts.
No, everyone is shitting on KH3 because it's an embarrassment. Dunkey shitting on KH3 has over 3 million views too so yes everyone knows kh3 is trash.
>The only 3 threads on the board are shitting on the game
>Th-That's because everyone else likes it!
Dude... I haven't seen a positive KH3 thread in almost 2 weeks. The game came and went and made virtually no splash. If you enjoy it that's good, and I'm not saying it's shit (I'm not the other user) but... The game was underwhelming to the majority of people. Fun is subjective but the game had a lot of potential it wasted.
It's really insane how good KH2 Sora
KH2 Sora is like Goku Blue, and KH3 is like base Goku.
Imagine if Dragonball did something stupid like reducing Goku back to his kid Goku, everyone would hate it and force it in non-canon. Good thing that never happended.
>Was released during a time when most Vidya story and action was sub-par and "LIGHT VS DARKNESS" was considered good writing
What the fuck? People made fun of the dumbass writing back then too.
Street Fighter being on is impression given this was pre-4
>Final Fantasy
It hurts to see what it's become.
Square Enix was at peak popularity in the early-mid 2000s with the success of FFVII and FFX. Everyone was talking about them and they would be advertised virtually everywhere. Disney was popular for their kids movies still. Kingdom Hearts basically brought these two franchises together however at the end of the day it was still for kids and people had grown out of it and people stopped playing it. Not only that but Disney has a less than stellar reputation when it comes to recent vidya (read up on their Online MMOs and that one infinity game) and KH3 reeks of disney meddling and interference. Granted it was fun in its own right to me personally but it felt like the game was held back by many factors like Disney, Squeenixs god awful management and Os*ka team.
At least it isn't XV
>muh e-celeb
Opinion discarded.
Not him, but I think the worlds in KH3 are better in KH2. They aren't literally just five rooms and do a better visual representation of the movie they're based on. Pirates looks fucking god tier and there are actual NPCs in worlds now. The Disney worlds still suffer a lot from the abridged problem though.
It's so obvious from the way you type that you have autism. Are you that Barry guy?
Keyblade transformations were so fucking lame. I just wanted to fight like Lingering Will, not a soiboy faggot.
Literally the only decent idea here is step ten.
You're forgetting all the fujo's that masturbate to Sora and Riku user.
Kingdom Hearts 1 had charm that appealed to 12 year olds. KH3 is a fucking disney RPG that only appeals to boomers who haven't moved on
>dude Xehanort was actually a good guy all along!
Wtf were they thinking lol
Wisdom > all but the way drive forms are handled was shit.
Also I'd you think fighting with yoyo's and a spear/flag isn't the tightest shit get the fuck outta here.
Why does Sora look younger in KH3 than in KH2?
I will never understand how there are people who don't consider KH3 to have the best worlds, which also happens to be 80% of the fucking game.
This, and the voice is a hint. We don't play as Sora in 3, but as the evil anti-Sora pretending to be Sora. In the next game, Riku and Kairi finds the real Sora, who is more like his KH2 version, then comes the true KH3 where you fight anti-Sora. You have your KH2 abilities and reaction commands, he uses kh3 abilities and attractions.
KH3 does have the best worlds in the series, which is why I consider it to be the best.
But since Disney Worlds have all been so shitty ever since CoM people started caring exclusively for the end/post game content and KH3 is just lacking in that regard.
That's a fucking terrible idea. Just let the series die. Or at least let Sora/Ansem's bullshit die. Don't give Square even more ideas of how to milk this fucking cash cow.
single player games don't have the same sort of draw they used to. Multiplayer games that update once or twice a month immediately take control of all discussion involving vidya.
same reason in about a week or two, sekiro will also stop getting talked about.
>Imagine if Dragonball did something stupid like reducing Goku back to his kid Goku, everyone would hate it and force it in non-canon. Good thing that never happended.
I know you're being cheeky but Dragon Ball GT did happen.
the decade in between.
user, KH 4 and an other one before that are confirmed by Nomura already. And he is thinking about one more prequel to the Xehanort trilogy.
>Superior in every way
>Combat and graphics have not aged a bit
KH3 has the best graphics, the best combat and the leveling up system is not a pain in the ass as it was in 2. The only thing missing is the amount of extra content which KH 2 FM had.
Save for a few moment, the game was not very good
Amazing even DMC5 does not have as much people talking about it than usual.
More like someone loved spamming how terrible KH3 was despite it selling 5 million copies and was having a lot of cope.
Instantly forgotten? We have fucking daily threads and its the best selling game of the year so far. An I say that as someone who was thoroughly disappointed by 3
>Light vs darkness
>Good writing
>KH2.
It was basically a press X to win combo fest. KH3 there is more variation and it had a story about reflection and doubt. Kingdom Hearts is not a series renowned for it's plot. But more so the gameplay, music and graphics.
KH3 has 3 good worlds, the Pixar ones and Olympus.
>Twilight Town is smaller than Traverse Town in 1, Hollow Bastion in 2, and TWILIGHT TOWN in 2 and days
that isn’t automatically a bad thing, but what’s there to do or explore in that world after you find the hidden mickey’s and the few chests?
Consider what you could come back to Hollow Bastion or Traverse Town to do
>Trinities
>Dalmatian rewards
>Merlin Rewards
>Winnie The Pooh
>Gummi upgrades
>post cards
>Data and cavern of rememberance
>Sephiroth story line
>optional tron story line finish that gives the world a new name
I might have even missed some. The trend you’ll see going forward with all of these worlds is that lack of content. There’s a lot of space in this game, but it does nothing with it. I never revisted one unless I was farming for Ultima which is because of the enemies not the world itself.
>Tangled is a cute idea to have you interacted with Repunzal so much, but the world is a complete straight shot. Just point A to point B with an innoffensive at best minigame in the middle.
So are most KH2 worlds, but they also not only have forced revisits with more stuff to collect or new areas opening up (the emperor’s castle in Mulan for example), they also are much smaller so your time feels less wasted going forward.
>What’s the difference between a straight shot world in 3 and 2?
Answer: 2 HOURS
>the plot is just a couple scenes from the movie with sora forgettinn why he’s there and the Organization going “how do you do, fuck you” and leaving.
>I don’t think anyone defends the frozen world but for the sake of argument imagine running up and down a hill so much even the characters get sick of it. It’s just as interesting as it sounds. The dungeon at the beiginning is completely wasted on such a terrible world.
>the plot is just a couple scenes from the movie with sora forgettinn why he’s there and the Organization going “how do you do, fuck you” and leaving.
(1/2)
>Shrink the maps
>Boot this shitty command deck mindset they've been in to make the combat closer to 2s. Super moves need to be governed by a meter so you dont just spam them all to win.
>Have a mix of old and new disney worlds not just new
>Have the plots be original with Sora acting more than just a spectator
>Have regular story beats and a game changing middle point like 1 and 2
>Have the disney worlds be split into two shorter visits so you dont get sick of one
>If a character dies let them stay dead
>Never, and I mean never, use time travel as a plot point again
>Have a changing, expansive hub world you revisit over and over
>Decent post game content, bonus bosses and a cave of remembrance type thing. Do not just have a recolour of Ansem's guardian and call it a day.
>Bring back FF characters and even have an FF world, these are not unimportant elements of the series to fans
>If you're gonna have characters on screen, get them a fucking voice actor so they can speak
>COLLESEUM
Did I forget anything?
>Step 3: Make Kairi the Series Protagonist
You were doing kinda well retard
>KH2
>Pess X to win
>KH3
>Not press x to win
What fucking world are you living on
>game come out that makes huge crossovers with things people love and offers huge promises and mysteries for the future
>next sequel finally comes out over a decade since the last and is more apparent than ever they just made everything up as they went and in barely even coherent while being an overall mediocre game
My ultimate disappointment with the game is that I played it once and felt no desire to touch it again, like I had my fill. Yet here I am replaying 2 for the umpteenth time and I know I'll have the desire to do so again soon because it's just that much fucking fun to play.
Ansem > Xemnas
Frozen was the way it was cause the team behind it were fucking insane. They had to okay everything, insisted they use "Let it Go", said that Sora was not allowed to interfere with the story, and banned them from using the Kingdom or Ice castle.
I remember people talking about who would be the companion of a Frozen world, some people saying obviously Elsa, some saying they might go with Olaf or a Anna/Sven combo. Literally no one thought theyd go with the fucking Ogre thing, bu they did cause thats all the team would let them use.
I honestly would rather they dropped the entire world all together, it wasnt worth it. When I think about replaying KH on critical I fucking dread having to redo it, I dont even feel that bad about fucking Atlantis in KH2.
For comparison too, the team behind BH6 loved the idea of the film being in KH3, and let them do crazy shit like let Sora give the team new powers. Fuck Frozen.
I'm waiting for Critical Mode to drop, I thought everyone was.
Lets see
Frozen
>Ice Mountain and and dark ice maze. Big, open, and repetitive. Getting all the emblems was an actual chore cause everything looked the same. The story was super weak with all the main cast just making cameos, and they do a 1:1 recreation of Let it Go. Worst world in the series.
>Tangled
Forest Area, straight of A to B. Recreation of the films plot. Though it has one up over Frozen as Sora and the gang bounce off Rapunzal and Flyn really well, its still a bore. Exploring the castle helps but it feels lifeless outside a dancing minigame.
>Big Hero 6
Promising as following up on the film is a big improvement on Frozen/Tangled, the first bridge area is really cool, and the areas villain is Replica Riku, who is by far the most enjoyable villain of the new 13 save Xigbar. This goes to shit real quick though when you find out the rest of the world is one generic city map. Nothing to do in it except short but kinda fun VR training.
>Hercules
Double edged sword. The itself is gorgeous, and its cool how there are secrets and side missions like Achilies heel. Olympus itself is stunning, even though it feels really empty with zero gods around. Its also another large open straight shoot to the goal, though rising from thebes to the clouds is cool. No colleseum though, which is atrocious.
>Pirates
This splits people. Collecting crabs is lame and the town does just feel like a wooden set. I personally like the boat stuff cause its quick and easy to control, but since KH3 makes you play the whole world in one sitting instead of two visits, I can see why people who dont like it will hate this world. Undersea combat is bad. The story is the most butchered by far, Ive seen the film and I couldnt keep track of what the fuck was occurring. The end boss is amazing though, barring the broken combat system, so its mixed at best.
(1/2)
I stand by what I said. It's a terrible fucking idea.
>Toy story
Kinda mediocre desu. People have said it before but outside of Andy's home it doesnt feel like a Toy Story world, you spend most of it fighting and jumping in robots. It also gets repetitive going up and down the generic shop over and over. Highlights are Woody chewing out young Xehanort and Buzz playing along with Rex's "I should keep watch outside" excuse cause he's scared. At least its an original story where Buzz actually has an arc, but its nothing that engaging.
>Monster's Inc
Starts off strong with a great recreation of the entrance, door area, and rail sections, not to big or small and nice amount of variety. Then devolves into generic factory room after generic factory room. One long, linear string of forgettable greyness. Story is original which is a bonus but pretty much nothing happens; though tying the scream energy to Vanitias' negative emotion powers was probably the most clever mixing of lore in KH3. Randall appears the whole level but you never fight him which is lame, but a highlight is Sully YEETUSing Vantias. Forgettable overall.
>Winnie the Pooh
Holy shit what a downgrade. Also where the fuck was Eyeore? Nothing more needs saying
>Twilight Town
Forget even making a unique hub world, they were only able to recreate 1/5 of the one from
>Keyblade graveyard.
Just a big empty desert area. The remix from BBS is goat though
>Final world
Reused assests galore and barley identifiable stars with important story elements you need to interact with.
>Windmill world
Cba looking ups its name. Great aesthetic, wish we couldve explored it like how KH2 lets you explore The World That Never Was (Sidenote: do we ever get an explanation what the deal with that world is? It's full of nobodies but someone must have lived there once cause it's filled with skycrapers)
And thats everything. Add in the huge empty areas, the fact you have one looong visit over two shorter ones, and how the combat is not as good; it's a pretty poor showing.
No it's not. Everyone loved anti-Aqua and Riku's Riku vs Repliku arc. Also Terra vs Terranort and Ventus vs Vanitas are the more memorable scenes for everyone. Anti-Sora is the next logical step.
95% of KH3 doesn't matter. It's just filler content to pad the length out and has no bearing on the final 5% of the game.
At least in 2 you'd have story beats, defeat a few organisation members, and had that big "war of 1000 heartless" mid point. KH3 had nothing
>People liked these
No they fucking didn't. Rikku Replica was a confusing fucking mess that a lot of people still don't understand because the rules of the world keep changing, Anti-Aqua was fine, and Ventus and Vanitas was another stupid convoluted ass pull that existed for no reason other than to extend bullshit. Anti-Sora would be the most fucking generic cash grab they could do, so it makes sense Nomura, a fucking hack of a creator would go there, but don't act like it's a "good" idea. This whole series is fucked by a lack of foresight. Half the shit gets retconned, and they reuse everything they can because thinking up new ideas is apparently impossible for them. Actually, let me rephrase. It's a great idea for money, it's a fucking terrible idea for writing, creativity, and for the series.
>KH2 in 2006
>KH3 in 2019
You answered your own question
I still can't believe they didn't have Phil say a single word in Olympus. Seriously I don't get how they thought that was going to work.
Plot wise it's an easy fix, Master of Masters is more interesting and has more personality than the old villains.
Just bring out one or two proper movies to catch people up on KHUX stuff with a great animated keyblade war to get us hyped for KH4.
3's biggest downfall plot wise was trying to tie up every loose end. too many characters with too many stories.
hopefully we can forget about them now and move on with new things, also stop trying to please all the fangirls and just write an interesting story instead of fanservice.
Gameplay wise just use KH2FM as a base and add the good things from KH3.
3 was decent gameplay wise but still lacking in areas 2FM just nailed.
>2019-2006=13
Holy shit! The problem is, the darkness took hold of our hearts. It should have come out 7 years after 2, in a glorius shine of light.
>KH2 was considered a disappointment by many people at release
Who is "many people"? It was universally acclaimed by critics and the fanbase ate it up just as readily.
The overuse of button mashy combat and reaction commands was the only major gripe most people had with it, that's hardly the same as "trashing".
>the leveling up system is not a pain in the ass as it was in 2.
This one I don't understand. What about killing enemies and getting experience with which to level up and learn new abilities/get boosted stats is a "pain in the ass"?
Kid Icarus, Metroid, Mario and Zelda all did evil dark versions, and everyone loves them. Sora needs one too. And it would be awsome to have an enemy use similiar abilities. And it makes for a great twist. Also Nomura never retconned anything.
>I like it so everyone else must like it too
There is billion member community behind me while your all alone.
>did evil dark versions, and everyone loves them. Sora needs one too.
You mean Vanitas and to a certain extend Roxas as well?
KH3 is doing fine ;)
B-but user, h-he lost his power after dream drop
>faggot defending KH trying to call someone else autistic
Vanitas is evil Ventus, Roxas is not evil. We need an evil Sora, preferably with red eyes and darker skin.
>a certain extend
His jap voice actor died
Success does not equal monetary value. These are more than just products from a company you buy.
It's already awsome. Can't wait for the new saga! Nomura this time has the whole plot planned out.
>forgotten
>keeps making the same fucking thread every day
It’s clearly not if it pushes your autism to keep making these
>He's not your replica, he's MINE
Lowkey love that moment
And? If they wanted to be that anal about it they couldve at least given him none-speaking text bubbles in the world map. Phil was a key part of Hercules world since 1, being Sora's trainer and all.
>Selling well doesnt equal monetary value
Are you actually retarded or are you just pretending?
Look how much No Man's Sky sold and that game was a disaster and didn't get finished until 2 years post launch. These are designed for entertainment, if they fail at doing that, then it's a failure not a success.
user, there is much more to money than just monetary value.
Story and plot was great in KH1
Stagnated in KH2 but improved combat(fuck reaction commands though)
Fucked over in KH3
Peoples expectations were unrealistically high. After how years it’s been there was no way it could meet them. Granted the game does have a fair amount of legitamate flaws but personally I liked it for overall having the best worlds since 1. I’ll definitely give critical mode a shot when that comes out.
Great replacing 'success' with 'selling well' knobhead, if you don't have anything to say then don't respond.
How on earth is "Best selling game of the year" not "selling well"? Think for two seconds moron
What exactly did you enjoy about the worlds? They were all long empty slogs to me
I am looking forward to Critical Mode. I had a lot of fun with most of the boss fights and thought they were a highlight of the game. They just need to be a bit more challenging.
Everything after KH2 FM , worst managed series ever?
>Who is "many people"?
Historical revisionists. They're trying to pretend 2 was as reviled as 3 was at launch to push their "FM will fix 3" bullshit when anyone with a brain knows there's no fixing it without a complete overhaul.
They cant shrink the worlds and take out attractions and super moves with a new mode, thats for sure
>Peoples expectations were unrealistically high. After how years it’s been there was no way it could meet them
It'd have been nice if it at least tried.
For one the visuals. Not being stuck with PS2 graphics made a pretty big difference. Corona especially looked great although it is one of the weaker worlds overall. I also liked how the game rewards exploration with lucky Emblems or very well hidden chests. Some worlds had other neat things like the forge in Olympus or the rock’em sock’em robots game in Toybox. I’d say The Caribbean and the Pixar worlds are easily some of my favorite worlds in the series just below KH1 Hollow Bastion.
Its idiotic , everybody loved KH2, FM just made it ascent into GOD status next to DMC3SE
>muh PS2 graphics
Nigger KH has an immaculate artstyle and hasn't aged a fucking day. 3 is going to look like shit in a few years because they threw everything good about it out the window for plastic characters and realistic environments.
It was released too late.
Same reason why FF VII will flop.
You have to strike the iron when it's hot.
What are you talking about? The artstyle is horrific, KH never looked good till 3. Yeah its a little plasticy and shiny, but 1 and 2 looked barely better than early PS1 3d graphics, like FF8.
>You have to strike the iron when it's hot.
You do know that there was a ton of KH games between 2 and 3, right?
KH does have a good artsyle but some words utilized it much better than others. 3 Caribbean absolutely blows the 2 version out of the water in just about every way.
it turns out that waiting for the teenager fanbase to turn into 30s y/o adults impacted their ability to digest the absolute retardness of the story you were trying to tell
If you didn't like reaction commands you're gay.
If you don't like the transformation weapons, you are double gay.
A ton yes,
but none of them was the true sequel.
DDD. BBS was a prequel and Days and Coded were side games. Also BBS is pretty much KH3, it should have come out on PS3. And DDD is KH4, basically, should have come out on PS3. KH3 is actually KH5.
I never said it didn't sell well moron. You replaced success with selling well from my post when you quoted it, stop deflecting.
The pirates level in KH2 didn't use the KH artstyle, that level was made specially to show off realistic graphics in their engine as a "look what we can do" to press/fans. Traverse Town and Hollow Bastion are examples of the Kingdom Hearts artstyle, what level in KH3 looks like those two levels?
People saying kairi failed it but the idea you'd remake all this was already the falling point
>new update for the mobage
>5 of the same mission in a row
>is Brain up in the control room?
>maybe
>please wait another month to see the conclusion
Glad to see even this pile of shit is continuing the legacy of incredible disappointment.
Twilight Town and Scala.
Dream Drop Distance came out 7 years before 3. Unless you meant the mobileshit, then the iron was certainly cold.
>conclusion
That will be a year, user.
7 years isn't that tragic. 1 and 2 had 5 years between them in the west.
Yeah those levels look great, but they use realistic lighting which for a cartoon game looks a bit bland and like it could be from any other game, since all games are trying to look like real life. It doesn't feel like a fantasy world and I think it's the lighting, the textures and architecture are fine, it's the way everything is lit is the issue. Needs to look more like a cartoon/illustration.
>tfw replayed the entire series before booting up KH3
>Got a high dose of feelium after killing Ansem
It's an okay game if you don't abuse attractions but it doesn't do 2.5 justice and I doubt it ever will even with a final mix.
I think the real problem with the game is that Disney elephant in the roomed their way onto the dev team. Attractions are trashy and too god damn strong, literally everything about the Frozen world screamed "go watch the movie!", ect.
Compare Frozen to Mulan, if you never watched either movie you could easily pickup what Mulan's entire plot was from gameplay but Frozen is literally 2 short "music videos" and filler that has nothing to do with it. I don't even know who the fucking villain is in Frozen, all I know is that Lissandra used to be a normal blonde with snow powers before becoming a blind white haired Neko-onna.
Make attractions summons, bring back reaction commands, add a critical mode, and make teamups less constant.
Bu there was CoM. If we are just talking about mainline games, then it was 13 years.
Underrated post
4*
Go to bed Barry.
Make Roxas and Riku playable. Other than that, move on to the next thing.
I like this
DDD is mainline, COM, Days, Coded are side games. If you count the HD rereleases, we had eneogh KH content.
Remake 3 properly and pretend the 3 we already got actually was 2.9 and retcon the entire thing as unimportant so no one ever has to think about it again.
pastebin.com
Next saga should be cell shaded.
Only if they use Disney comics worlds.
kill off every organization faggot. Literally nobody but sub-70 IQ fujos care about axel/lea.
Turn it back into a crossover series, where characters like donal duck, and Hades, Malificent, and Squall actually do things.
I want s lot of this except "Jack summons his own keyblade". It would be better if he just said he had one but showed up with a key-shaped blade instead of a keyblade then proceeded to ignore everyone trying to tell him it wasn't an actual keyblade.
Attractions are probably the worst addition to the series bar none; even worse than reaction commands, shotlocks, and dream eaters combined. At least reaction commands and shotlocks gave us spectacle moments, and dream eaters had story context; attraction flow offers none of that.
Kingdom Hearts was a product of its time.
It came out during the emo/scene era when kids who grew up with Disney movies were getting older but they still weren't adults yet. So the idea of a Disney game that was more edgy and complex was extremely appealing. KH3 literally came out a decade too late and most people who played KH as teenagers are now adults and don't really give a fuck about it anymore.
Also explain why Pluto can run around in the darkness without protection.
That's not a bad idea, I've been looking to improve the list so I think I'll start with that.
COM is totally critical to the plot though.
>Also explain why Pluto can run around in the darkness without protection.
He is the Master of Masters, you dingus. All the hints are there.
Side game doesn't mean its not critical. Since Xion if in KH3, Days is critical too. Spin offs are not critical to the plot.
Because KH1 and 2 had the wow factor of being a cool crossover game with fun gameplay.. 13 years ago. That factor is completely lost today and nobody is as excited for it anymore. The fanbase was what, like ages 9-15 for the original game? People are in their 20s or 30s now.
you virtually cannot understand 2 if you havent played CoM
Retard
Tetsuya Nomura is a fairly bad director who doesn't consider the game as a whole, instead trying to perfect a few elements and harassing others. KH2 was good because of the designers and programmers who worked on the combat system, people who are absent from 3. Same reason Dissidia NT is shit.
You do know quite a few people from the Tokyo team also worked on 3 right?
None of the ones that mattered apparently. Also what's your source?
KHfags actually believe this
The game is good, it's just a small vocal minority shitting on it just like what happened with KH2 when it was first released. "It's too easy" and "there's not enough post-game content" are ironically enough criticisms KH2 got back in 2006 before later releases fixed said problems.
Tetsuya Nomura is a genius who single-handedly saved Square from demise. FFXV would have been awsome if it remained with him.
Kill off Organization XIII and Ansem entirely except for Lea.
Make a sentient heartless that manifested itself into existence as the new main bad guy. Just a silent, god like being that simply exists. No explanations, no long winded dialogues, it's just the pure embodiment of darkness and has to be stopped.
Add more variety to the Disney worlds to include a wider variety of properties and references, make the worlds more about exploring each movie/IP rather than just recreating the scenes with Sora shoehorned in.
Bring back the Final Fantasy characters, but with new ones and only a handful of returning ones to keep it fresh.
Retire some of the cast. Probably Ventus, Aqua, and Terra.
Three playable characters; Sora (with Donald and Goofy), Riku (with Mickey), and Kairi (with Pluto and Lea).
Retire all the convoluted shit, story is just straight up about stopping this big dark god. Most conflict comes from Disney villains and maybe a Final Fantasy villain or two (who aren't Sephiroth) deciding to use this dark god's presence as an opportunity to take over worlds.
And then in the secret trailer you find out the heartless diety was actually created by Ansem.
>TFW nobody will ever fix drive forms not copying Devil Trigger's resource system hard enough
>Tfw nobody will ever change the game to use combo master from the beginning
>Tfw revenge value will always be inherently shit compared to every other implementation of the exact same idea I've ever seen
>Tfw no one will ever go back to KH2 and remove Sora's 20frame block startup and replace it with something that's useful BEFORE you've learned every enemy attack in the game
>Tfw drive forms will never be rebalanced not to be 'i win' buttons
>Tfw when Sora's attacks will always be distance based with shit autotargeting
does anyone have the webm of sora riding the meow wow in xenahort final battle?
Yup
Nothing. Shitposters are attracted to KH for it's incredible gameplay jealousy and how popular it is. It seems to destroy everything in it's path.
Well for starters I would bring back FF characters
It's because you're garbage at the game and have garbage taste lol
They are unnecessery, unless maybe a Kefka secret boss.
>They are unnecessery
t. Nomura, fuck off with your lazy excuses you filthy faggot.
>Forgotten
Why do people say this.
