It's the most difficult to play next to MCH but doesn't have the clunky gauge juggling mechanics that drag down MCH. It has the most satisfying skills in the game in the form of Forbidden Chakra and Tornado Kick. All this and you get big numbers while still having high raid DPS

I have a question Yea Forums regarding Chocobo training (company chocobo not the racing one).
I tried to check on google and people just say to do your weekly challenge log and feed your Chocobo once every hour.
But, my Chocobo only get 14560exp when I feed them like this.
Meanwhile killing a mob lvl 69 with my Chocobo out give me 2670exp.
Killing 6 lvl69 mobs (which take less than 1min with my ilvl392 gear) give me 16020exp.

So in my opinion farming is much more efficient, but why people says to not do that?
Am I being trolled? Or during HW it wasn't worth it but they changed the exp gain of the Chocobo for SB?
Or lvl11+ Chocobo gain more exp per mobs?

It's gonna be a bit. The lowest level I think is 14 or 15. But you still have to go through all the quests to do it. That's the thing about this game, everything is gonna be locked behind that there Main scenario quest line. So keep on doing the meteor icon quests. You'll know dungeons are close when you get a quest to go to other cities via airship.

No other DPS has a burst phase that requires as much uptime. MNK also has the narrowest window of execution

There's actually a lot of new people who haven't done the old dungeons. I've partied up with more than a few sad looking sprouts waiting outside of quest dungeon entrances.

ROF is 20 seconds, the setup for it in the opener is ~5s, the PB window after is 10 seconds. So you have to maintain full uptime for over 35 seconds at the start of every fight which usually clips into the first mechanic of each one. Every burst window after that is 30s at the minimum. Missing any GCD uptime at all throughout any point in the fight results in throwing off the entire rotation massively. You also have to play it near perfectly or it ends up with personal DPS that's barely higher than DRG.
So what DPS do you think is more difficult?

Not really, Black Mage requires the same amount of fight knowledge, but its rotation is much simpler and it gets heavily catered to in terms of minimizing its movement in a good group. It's definitely the only other job that's more difficult to learn a fight on than monk though.

scroll a bit down on the same list and you have hotbar specific keybinds

There's keybinds to select a specific hotbar too although generally you should never be switching hotbars around at all except ones you don't use for combat. All your combat hotbars should always be visible

A fight fucking you over isn't class difficulty. Every class suffers if their burst window is interrupted.

Yeah nah. Even if you do a 5 GCD overheat, the overall damage loss compared to most roles is minimal. It's literally a loss of 1 gcd of damage. MCH is the most water-tight class when it comes to dps leakage, next to SMN.

It has a stigma of being convoluted since 3.0 where it was shit but it's nothing but a testament to the community's ability to regurgitate opinions when everyone with a brain knows that MCH has been the easiest role in both 3.0 and 4.0 but people still think it's too hard or clunky in any way, to the point that it was still the least played when it was meta. People still think SMN has a 2 minute rotation and is also the hardest caster despite having a 30 potency penalty for using Ruin II/III and having the most flexible class mechanic. An RDM missing a cast equals 10 usages of Ruin II for SMN. SMN also has the lowest variance between high and average percentiles compared to pretty much every class.

Difficulty in this game is "how easy is it to fuck up." The reason MNK isn't hard is because its rotation has been pretty much set in stone since 2.0 and the only variance came from RoW/PB changes recently. Congratulations, you have to pop cds correctly to properly take advantage of your burst window. Welcome to the playing field that every class has been on since Heavensward.

Of the two good-goy potions I'd sooner buy MSQ skip myself. Before POTD that'd be suicide as the MSQ is the best way to level up but I am sure POTD will let you level up faster than the MSQ. It'll be agonizing but you can dual monitor watch something or podcast. I'd only get the ARR skip rather than the HW skip as HW's story is actually good. With ARR the only thing that sucks to miss is the good 45-50 Garlean war stuff and 2.5.

Not saying that guy should do it, but just on the topic of how everything is locked behind the MSQ. If as a veteran subscriber I get a fantasia I am going to be a good goy and buy the ARR skip because I'd sooner want to be stuck with parties of au ra trannies than I would redo leviathian's feast quest or god forbid the doman refugees.

MCH has never been "hard". It's just been robotic. You had room in HW and most of the difficulty came from fight knowledge so you didn't outright lose a WF to a jump and kill that encounters damage.

MCH in 4.0 is a pain in the ass because it's boring and viciously influenced by ping and server refresh timing on top of being braindead easy. Hit your same buttons every minute for every fight with the only thing changing is your opener depending on latency. This is what you'll be playing from 4.06 to now. It's awful. With 3.0 you at least had milds and proc fishing to spice up your life and give you opportunities to move in between casts. Those don't exist and you'll bulldoze right over your procs when it's time to set up for WF because they'll throw off your CD sync if you don't.

It has no satisfaction as well. And leveling it is literally the worst job to take to 70 with it's SB kit. Scatter shot for 30 levels. Than get GB which makes the job worse until you're able to interact with it all the way at 64. The "reason" nobody plays MCH now is because leveling it is awful. People dropped it pre 4.05 because heat management was sort of frustrating to learn on top of the low reward you had and the high risk of fuckup when engaging with it and mechanics. People dropped it post 4.06 because it's fucking boring now as when you turn heat, the mechanic you dropped all of our previous synergies and cross class skills for, into a non option, the job becomes boring.

It sucks to play. It's perfectly fine and functional. It's not really all that hard. But it's simply not fun.

You shouldn't completely rule out gear above 345/375 for ultimates, it's still bis for certain slots of certain jobs if both below-sync options have poor stat loadouts.

Unless it's healer gear with SS/piety or tank gear with ten/SS, you should get synced gear. having mediocre stats +80 of your best substat is better than just losing 80 points of substats and a few points of your main stat (and defense/mdef if it's left side gear or worse, weapon damage if it's a weapon)

There's a different top that looks exactly the same then. I had that outfit put together before Eureka was out and I've still never set foot in there.

All four Eurekas are populated right now. Sometimes you might need to wait for prime time for people to fill in in Anemos and Pagos but they're not even remotely close to dead.

You need to unlock all all the Eureka skills and you can buy the logograms required for thosw from the market board

If you don't want the weapon, it's pretty easy to get. You just do your challenge logs for 4-5 weeks and you'll be high enough level to go into Pyros. The real grind is having to do a weapon; if you're not working on one then the only thing blocking your progress is your elemental level.

Most of the non blm/sam dps jobs hate speed stats just as much, sometimes you get shafted with both at-level options having them in bad combinations and you have to make do with a downsynced i400.

I acknowledge that others can, and do, have better luck with PUGs than myself.
I can also acknowledge that I am far from a brilliant player. Even at my peak I only played at a level that could (probably) not clear Ultimate-level content.

That being said, of the hundreds of hours I have spent PUGing content, the vast majority of wipes have been due to others, their mistakes, and their (often total) inability to learn. I dunno how hard Omega has been, as I quit raiding during Alex*, but it's possible that maybe people have smartened up or that the content is now easier.

You need >2 people to make it past phase 2. There's a stacking mechanic that is impossible with less than 2 (maybe less than 3 or 4 too, but I haven't tried). My friend and I were able to duo ex primals up to ravana though.

Everything is unlocked through the story, called the MSQ (main story quests).
It'll take you a couple months to go through the story to its current point assuming you don't skip cutscenes. Maybe a few weeks if you skip everything but the game is very story heavy so if you want to skip it then you won't get much out of the game.
Endgame has raids/bosses and various forms of gear grinding. There's plenty of other side activities that don't involve combat though like crafting/gathering, player housing, minigames, etc.
EU population is about 100k active players as of most recent data. The population is getting split into two datacenters with about 50k each in a few days.

FFXIV is actually really unique in that it has a big, living world with characters that undergo development spanning many years. There's not really anything else that can be compared with it.
However the game is best played as a solo JRPG experience with episodic story updates, and really bad temporary party member AI. If you go into this looking for a timesink that'll keep you busy forever you should find another game, but if you like the story and are prepared to stick with the game for the long haul (resubscribing maybe one month a year to see all the new stuff) you'll probably get a lot out of it.

If you can't find any enjoyment during the Lv1-50 grind you wont enjoy the rest of the game. And that's fine, this game is not for everyone, but wasting money to skip through all the important worldbuilding, plot development, and characterisation isn't a smart use of your time or money. Just play the Trial first, which is capped to Lv35, and make your decision from there.

Samurai is insane. You have to be constantly thinking 10 GCDs ahead and know exactly what the enemy is going to do; balancing your kenki buildup rate, knowing what seal you need (and the combos to make them), and understanding when it's good to put up your DoT.

Healing meanwhile is just playing whackamole with HP bars. The only pre-emptive component is casting heals before damage goes out, which is literally only 1/2 a GCD of forethought.

user have you played any dps in this game. Its basically hitting a dummy for a few hours to commit rotation to muscle memory. And then just flow from there with raid fights. Sam rotation is smooth af

You have a whole minute on that dot, you literally only screw it up if you pop it right before the boss fucks off or dies.

Your buffs are always up naturally if you're not overlapping seals, you could only screw it up if you confuse yourself using meikyo. Kenki manages itself as long as you remember to always leave enough for one buff and the dashes.

Maybe that's due to how well they made it all work together, but you could turn your brain off and play sam.

Probably at least a week or two if you're in there all day every day. The upside is that you don't have to actually progress a relic to unlock the later zones or BA, all you have to do is level up, which makes it much simpler.

I dunno guys, I manage to fuck up even playing RDM by not using Manafication properly and desyncing my rotation, ending up with 100/100 mana, or popping the wrong skill (Holy/Flare) and cheating myself out of a proc.

Healing meanwhile is completely brainless. It's 90% reactive and despite only ever PUGging EXs/Coil/Savage I pretty consistently managed purple numbers.

Maybe some people are just bad at a particular role?

I hear that BA discord pugs have grown increasingly irritable, but it's pretty easy to get carried if you're the type who isn't a retard now that more people have elemental gear. The mechanics are all easy, but it's important that you don't die during the 1st/2nd/3rd boss because you won't always be ressed due to limited Sacrifices. You can go tank and claim an off-tank role or go healer to avoid being left behind but there's a bit more responsibility.

Yeah. All Eureka zones are synced to ilvl300, so gear doesn't matter. You can get a little bit of help with fully upgraded relic armour/weapons and certain rare drops but it's not strictly necessary. The one thing you do need are Logos actions. I can't remember if you need to progress a relic to unlock the Logos system but if you don't then it's really simple.

You're surely just not practiced in RDM

The raids and 24 mans are great, I agree. But pretty much everything else is shit. Eureka is terrible. The warring triad were better than the Asian animal things. The nidhogg story and fight were so much better than the tsukuyomi story and fight.

I'm not the shota bunny autist but I think a race around the age of alphinaud and alisaie would be pretty cool. Lalafells are literal toddlers, teenagers are a completely different story. If anything I think the only problem with a race around this age is that it would take away the unique factor that the twins have going for them in the age department.

I'm a tank main, being a PLD first and foremost, but I'm leveling up the melee DPS classes now and I have a real problem. I love MNK, but god I suck at it. I have an ilvl of 366 with it and I can hardly push my DPS past the 3.5k while on a dummy I can reach the 4.5k. What are the tricks to help me get better with MNK? I keep forgetting to use forbidden Chakra because so much happens on the screen, but that's hardly what matters. I try to stay gl3 most of the time, using the tornado kick only when perfect balance is up, but keeping track of everything, what happens on screen, the AoEs, the downtime.
It makes me really angry. I feel like a brainlet only fit to play PLD or a role that won't really matter.

Practice. Every job gets easier the more you do it. As you get used to the more basic stuff you can start adding other things. Don't bother with something like the TK rotation if you're still having trouble with the basic flow of the job. Solidify the basic rotation, then get used to hitting oGCDs and Forbidden Chakra on cooldown, then do stuff like practice charging chakras whenever you need to step away from the enemies, and using Form Shift to save GL.

i trained on a dummy until i got rotation and timings engraved into my muscle memory

I don't know if it really matters or if it means really something, but I can hardly keep demolish up after 3 combos. I'm always a second short.

are the SB ones more like the ARR ones? I too rolled my eyes during the HW quests, they felt like they were trying way too hard to be off the wall wacky and it was painful to watch sometimes, at least the stuff with Gigi was nice.

The only hard part is memorizing all the yaku, which comes naturally over time as you play. After that it's all just observing basic strategy. Mahjong is nowhere near as complex as something like Magic the Gathering.
