Video Game adaption when ?
We happy few is pretty close
>1984 again
Can someone please explain everyone's obsession with this book? Every form of political discourse I have with people ends up with someone name dropping 1984, regardless of what I'm actually talking about. Has Yea Forums only ever read one dystopian novel?
You don't need one; you're living in it right now.
Half-life 2 has a 1984 vibe
wow you sound like a pretty smart guy
Why would someone need to read more than one if it explains the subject perfectly?
Nah just annoyed. I'm tired of seeing this damn book everywhere.
Did you come from that one MGS video about the most profound moment in gaming?
bros...it wasn't ment 2 be an instruction manual....just like idiocracy
I once met a guy who told me "Why would I need to read 1984 if I already know mass surveillance is bad?"
You and him would get along.
are you saying there's only one conceivable dystopia
Play Nothing to Hide
it's because the real book (We) is too disorienting and weird to discuss
I'm not in Britain though
More like 1984, Brave New World, and The Prisoner thrown in a blender then dropped on the floor.
Just go to UK.
I've read the book. Yea Forums name drops it at stupid times for stupid reasons like steam refusing to sell a controversial game on their store.
Pick up that can.
Thank you for reminding me about that.
I still don't get the ending. They basically mindbroke the guy, right?
Haven't heard about that book. What is it about?
This isn't a british imageboard, idiot.
I bought this a few months back because Orwell cited it as a big influence, and was adamant Huxley borrowed a ton from it while writing Brave New World. Haven't read it yet though.
Is it not worth reading?
Yup, and now he's either dying, in a dreamlike state in which they're now actively looking into the minds of the complacent citizens, or just focusing on him. The whole Africa surprise fleet maneuver is either more propaganda or a legit thing decided by the Illuminati/NWO meant to make what's his name complacent and believing in society again. I think.
Up until that point the idea of political, cultural and economic suppression/oppression was always associated with communism and fascism.
Half life 2
Valve even made a 1984 ad when porting it to Macs
1984 would make a shit videogame if you straight adapted it.
The world itself might make an interesting stealth game where in you have to try to behave like you're towing the party line while doing some other objective.
It would basically be Papers, Please except you'd be rewriting news articles.
It's called reality
wrote a book report on it in highschool, but I just watched the movie
Sony is well on it's way.
