Yes, it actually requires some effort and practice on the player's part to make them good but oce you learn how to float cancel and do basic turnip combos they're pretty fucking scary

The problem with Pichu is that he's not glass-canon even with his weight.

Just because he doesnt die at 30 doesnt mean he isnt glass a glass cannon. He CAN die really early, doesnt mean he always will.

that bottom space is too broad in my opinion: Puff, Robin, IC, K Rool and Kirby might not be as good but at least have some redeemable qualities. Isabel, Plant, Mii B and Mac are downright unsaveable

Little Mac is just a poorly designed character. You either play the matchup right (camping platforms and ledges) and shit on him or you actually decide to play neutral with him and get your ass whooped.

but in most matchups he is never dying early, just look up any tourney match and Pichu is commonly living past 120%. Its only against certain characters like Marth and friends that you see actually good Pichu players dying early

The only really "bad" characters imo are Little Mac, Pirahna Plant Mii Brawler, Charizard, and Isabelle. Everyone else is perfectly viable

In a game like tr4sh or ultimate, even characters like Ganon can have matchups decent enough to make upsets, especially if inexperience is on their side. What defines viability is consistency, and a solo Ganon can hardly achieve that: He has too many hard matchups. Admitedly, he may be a little low, but he is no better than Top of Low.

mac really highlights an issue that has probably always been there; air is superior to ground by a wide margin in smash. Just think about how few grounded anti-airs exist in smash. I can't even imagine the amount of buffs it would take to make mac even mid tier without changing his core design

He's probably worse than Kirby & Charizard too. At least they can press buttons that are safe and don't have a billion endlag. Both K.Rool and to an extent Plant feel like they were ported from Smash 4 without the landing lag changes other characters got.

K. Rool has a lot of end lag on everything that isn't side/up tilt or jab (and even then those moves are very slow.) He also has a lot of start-up lag on some of his supposed bread and butter attacks (Blunderbuss is perhaps the least useful move in the game.) Lastly, he has no mix-up game, is combo food and will get circles ran around him by every other character.

I'm coming from melee and playing meta knight since i like his offstage game. Anyone have any advice for him? I'm at 4.1 mil gsp and matches are making me sweat now

I'm curious as to the reasoning that K. Rool is worse than Bowser Jr., Dedede, Incineroar, Ridley, Sheik, or Diddy. In fact I have trouble believing he's worse than an easy third of all the people in that Low category.
Am I missing something?

You're missing that all these characters can throw out moves that aren't commitments, while K.Rool can't, whilst being a character that can't get out of combos or juggles.

This makes me feel good as a Pac-Man main, but I also main K. Rool, so not that good.

She's light and dies easily, most of her moves have no range (far beyond what would normally be considered low range) which forces her to rely on the slingshot, the fishing rod is slow and easy to block and begs to be punished on whiff, the gyroid can be destroyed easily by most characters and some characters can literally just run past it without getting caught. Her gimmicks would make her a pretty interesting character to play but they straight up don't work once the opponent learns how they work.

Yeah, but doesn't he have a shit-load of armor on those moves? I was under the impression that throwing out shit like nair and ftilt and all that isn't as unsafe with Rool since he wins out all tradeoffs with moves like that.

Smash Bros is completely focused around the air game. If you have a bad air game, you are a bad character, no matter how good your ground game is.

Tier lists are really not that important in this game so far. And its still really unstable, characters are dropping and raising every other week. And I think theres a big issue of characters who were amazing in 4 that got nerfed not seeing proper development. Characters like ZSS and bayonetta who were largely dumped are starting to come back in a big way. The top tiers are probably pretty set in stone but high to low is really variable right now.

basically, if you're playing someone low tier, don't fret. Not only do tiers only really matter for the top level of play, the disparity between tiers is much smaller in this game.
