i was really mad about darksouls3 because they changed the invasion mechanics so scrubs like me couldn't bully newbs anymore
now you can't actually succeed unless you've Gitted Gud enough to fight a host and 1-2 co-op phantoms all at once

Please do yourself a favor and play Dark Souls 1 first. If possible, try original prepare to die edition + dsfix.

And I will always be impressed when that invader manages to kill us and the host.

oh yeah as for actual tips: In DaS3 you get a huge damage multiplier for leaving an armor slot empty even compared to just equipping the shittiest no-defense rags
so unlike the previous dark souls games you can't fashion it up by running with a heavy as fuck helmet and no shirt, or by running around with no helmet to see your character's face
to make matters worse every class but one starts without a helmet so you'll be taking way increased damage unless you know to buy the shitty weakest helmet available in the first shop

If you want to cheese the game start as a Mercenary as they start with Sellsword Twinblades AKA the best weapon in the game

Only Thief, Cleric and Deprived start with incomplete armor.

Play from the first game. As for tips go, upgrading weapon is more important than stats if you are struggling. Most weapons are viable to use throughout the games so don't hesitate upgrading a weapon you like to use. Just avoid meme shit like bows and whips. Classes at the beginning aren't actually classes but only determine what you wear in the beginning and how your starting stat points are allocated. There are no class specific skills or stuff like that. Str to wield big weapons, dex to use fast weapons, int to use spells and faith to use prayers.

It's tempting to spend all your souls on leveling up but by far the biggest damage boost is from upgrading your weapon. Once you've found one you want to stick with long-ish term (or you have enough materials to upgrade more than one), priority #1 for spending your souls is to stick +1s on your weapon
(priority 0 is leveling up to use a cool weapon you've found but don't have the stats for yet, i guess)

going to dark souls 3 after Sekiro sounds rough, Sekiro was much better, but really you should start with DaS1 because you’ll really miss some of the quality of life changes moving backwards, and DaS3 references 1 a lot

starting with 1 is a good idea but not necessary, I started with 3 and loved it

There's no need for tips, it should be easier than Sekiro, there are less things to keep track of. Just gotta get used to dodging over parrying.

Just play them in order bro. You will appreciate the franchise more if you do, and in my opinion 3 is a shit game but YMMV. 3 has a lot of references to 1 in it so while souls games don't really have plots, you will still be sorta bewildered storywise if you start with 3. The other games explain more about the curse of the undead, the various transitory lands, etc.

it's not the best pvp weapon but yeah, the sellsword twinblades have insane damage compared to everything else and triviliaze a lot of the pve game so if you want a more "balanced" souls experience you may want to start with a different weapon and then do a twinblades run later. or just use them, whatever, do what you want, you probably will still have fun either way but you should be aware the twinblades are an OP meme weapon against the AI

If you dont wanna manage parry in this game, you can choose knight who comes with a 100% block shield. That means it blacks 100% of physical damage if you dont feel like parrying or rolling. Its fucking busted. If your not used to shield in sekiro tho you will use up your stamina to block, so you can run out of poise and lose your stance if you just shield too much. Its definitely an easier playstyle though.
