I like to think Snail Shamans were one of the inhabitants of the pre-Hallownest civilization, the one that worshiped the void. Explains their knowledge of Void and Soul.
One thing though is that the Snail shaman doesn't recognises the Abyss shriek, so maybe they were "lower caste", so they wouldn't have acess to the abyss (those big carcasses being the ones that ruled)
