What is it about Dark Souls that attracted so many casuals?

What is it about Dark Souls that attracted so many casuals?

Casuals no longer wanted to be casuals.

Turns out they were still casuals.

Please do not post rare Kaguya.

Good marketing. Casuals always fall for marketing.
They sold the game as a "hardcore" experience. Ionically, that's what casuals like to hear.

They were under the illusion it was a difficult game due to gaming journalists telling them so

Their ‘alt’ celebrities are into eastern videogames so they must follow

Media attention. Simple formula:
(media attention = hypetrain victims) + (average hypetrain normie =shit-tier)
= lots of casuals in the game

In the west the game was heavily marketed as being very very hard and for manly men. Turns out the game isn't actually hard at all so when you eventually beat it, because, again, not hard, you get bragging rights for conquering the hardest game of all time.
Not shitting on the game by the way, but I still don't get this "oh no so hard!" meme, it's just another goddamn game.

Nothing, there's just so many casuals now that they spill over into everything. If a game is known to casuals then they will play that game.

It attracts underage tryhards, wanting to prove themselves. Casuals don't play games like DaS.

Blame the marketing for selling the game as the hardest ever.

because faggots memed it to be some of the hardest video games ever

It's simple. Elitism in a game that has easy to learn mechanics but punishing gameplay. It helps that it doesn't hold your hand like every game does.

Correct, real men play osu.

>he doesn't know

What's the fake fall thing? I've never experienced that.

It got popular because everybody kept talking about how it's a good game.

What I don't get is that why is that animu popular. Judging from the summaries I keep hearing, it's nothing but your average high-school normalfag setti-- oh.

When you are almost going to sleep and you have a quick dream that you're falling and your whole body jerks

>What is it about Dark Souls that attracted so many casuals?
The Dunning-Kruger effect.
Next question?

never had that related to falling. I always have something fall onto me, like I'm in a dream room and the ceiling collapses on me. or someone swings a pendulum/ hammer at my face.

Look up hypnagogic jerk

It was the "in" thing

kaguya is so cute i love her

it's fun

Is that Kaguya?
That's a comedy, and it's funny. Might explain it.
