40 in-game minutes for your team to do "away" missions

>40 in-game minutes for your team to do "away" missions
>Average of 1 in-game hour of waiting for guns that aren't trash
>4 hours for final stage platforms
>4 fucking straight hours of no content

>Can't close the game like on mobile trash
>Side Ops are the same repetitive shit over and over

This is fucking awful game design.
It literally wastes time to trick you into thinking it's somehow more content because it took you so long to progress in any way.
This game is the pinnacle of open world design. It has nothing to offer for content other than dicking around in a nearly empty desert. All the great systems in place can never be used to their full potential because there is nothing to fucking do with them while you wait for hours on end for more useless upgrades that won't effect gameplay until several real days of waiting.
How can any of you zoomer hipsters be hyped for Death Stranding?
This is fucking garbage anti-fun bullshit.

What a fucking travesty. An amazing locomotion and interaction system held hostage by some of the worst game design I have ever seen.
Fuck Konami
Fuck Kojima
Fuck mobile gaming
Fuck everyone that defends this war crime of a game

I am so goddamn mad that this isn't remembered as a pile of shit abomination and that it got a fucking spinoff.

Fox Engine is cool, shame it’s only going to be used for 3 games now.

And at least one is PES

>It literally wastes time to trick you into thinking it's somehow more content because it took you so long to progress in any way.

Use the infinite heaven mod. It fixes all the time wasting crap (eg helicopter) and let's you get on with the game.

desu this
everything just felt bland about the game

I dunno, did Peace Walker not have all the same waiting, collecting, and repetition

The biggest sins this game commited were the nonexistent ending and the portrayal of Ocelot.

MGSV is a masterpiece

never have i been so disappointed in a game honestly

Yeah. I enjoyed the 200 hours I put into my first playthrough and it's still a fun time whenever you actually play it, but TPP had tons of bad designs that are made more apparent on subsequent playthroughs.

Not only that, it got great reviews all across the board and even Kojimbo got an award for it. Playing victim sure does have it's benefits.

The more mobile-oriented design is bad, but very likely was directed primarily by the execs at Konami.

In any case, some of the most essential equipment you'll ever need is crafted instantaneously. Even without it, and without capturing soldiers or upgrading anything, a large portion of the game is still perfectly doable. Yes, even the mission where you have to destroy/capture vehicles can be completed with just grenades and an AR. The Skulls can be fought with gun emplacements around the area, and Sahelanthropus can be destroyed using vehicles (in fact, that's the strat I've seen speedrunners do).

The free roam is not the meat of the game. People always commit this error in judgement, but like in Driver for the PSX, that serves more of a distraction than anything. The open ended design benefits the multiple approaches you can take on a mission by mission basis. This is not the Witcher, it's not GTA. It's an arcade-inspired, stealth action game where you complete missions and are rated for your performance through score, emblems, and special bonuses (such as No Traces).

this

>Kojimbo got an award for it
And Konami forbade him for receiving it directly. He doesn't need to play the victim, he, and the team who worked on the game, simply were mistreated by their employers. This is somehow always conveniently left out of the narrative the sole purpose of shitting on Kojima.

Which games?

I really can't understand how MGSV managed to turn Ocelot from one of the shiniest characters in Metal Gear to one of the most boring and bland. Fuck even Miller had more personality than him in this game.

>An amazing locomotion and interaction system held hostage by some of the worst game design I have ever seen

this has always been the consensus

imagine if the game was just like 10 ground zeroes

>imagine if the game was just like 10 ground zeroes
I would unironically enjoy that more.

Its because of this game I've become so cynical. I do blame half of it on myself for falling for all fan speculation and those 30 minute videos where they showed off stuff that never made it in the game.

Miller was great in this game as punished Miller. Ocelot was the worst. one of the biggest things wrong in this game full of sins

¬¬ have you ever played Peacewalker? The Phantom Paine is Peacewalker 2.5
yfw they sold (the world) the DLC before the game

Out of all the characters present in TPP Miller is the only one that feels in "character". I still remember some people justifying ocelots personality because "he wasn't plotting against anyone at that time, so he was finally demonstrating his true self" bullshit reason.

Miller didn't deserve any of this.

No the guns upgrade where done by his many missions you went on. Only big complaint would be the no crawl button and it took ages to level up the guns also the billet along metal geara were barebale buy still annoying. Ttp is a good game but they kinda have shit stuff on it

It was pretty much his fault

I thought the gameplay was solid at 60fps on console. All of the stealth mechanics were solid, however, the story was dragged out with them giving you little morsels here and there and yeah, Ocelot did seem out of character.

Overall, if average is 5.5 then it's a solid 8.5. Docked some points for what they did to Snake's legacy by getting rid of Hayter, and for Ocelot's low-key tone.

MGS3 is 10/10 and 10/10 is reserved only for absolute classics in game design and usually for exceptional games in a series that can be compared to their inferior bretheren.

I'm at mission 23 I believe? I've just been farming the event FOBs. The platform on hard with the fuel bonus is the quickest to do. Just sneak on by the enemies - takes like 4 minutes. NPC's are really dumb in this. I've been buying S++ and S+ personnel, going to max out everything I can before progressing.

should have been, and would have been if konami didn't want to pivot and get rid of kojima. he is a petulent egoist, but he delivers. sure, maybe years overdue, millions over-budget, and with great difficulty, but delivers nonetheless.

absolutely. i was already burnt out from open world games like witcher 3 and fallout because they're massively difficult to make and there are always glaring mistakes, and i just dont like the gameplay anymore.

i'd much prefer a modular level-based style MGS. it just worked so much better.

A man of superior tastes right here.

I'm also going to use this time to plug for Resident Evil 7. When comparing RE7 to RE2 Remake and RE4, RE7 is a 10/10, RE2 is an 8/10, and RE4 is a 9.

RE4 couldn't decide if it was action or survival horror, and it started the downfall. RE7 is a camp masterpiece with amazingly quotable lines and a satisfying ending. RE2 was bland with an uninspired story.

Overall RE7 had the best balance of story, survival, and action. It had a certain flair to it unseen in most other games, with the exception of MGS

RE7 felt more like a proof of concept to test the waters with the RE engine as well as VR bait. RE2 is a fully-realized, and more well-rounded experience. As for RE4, it was one of the defining games of its generation and genre, which isn't something you can say for RE7.

I think a lot of people miss what RE7 did, not just for the series, but for the genre. RE7 was an homage to campy horror the way MGS3 was an homage to 60s spy thrillers. RE7's point will be missed by most.

RE2 had no twist ending, had a total of two bosses, and almost no real story to speak of. It amazes me when you say it's fully-realized when there's not much there.

RE4 was a good game, but looking back now, it has been bettered by RE7. Go back and play RE7 not as a horror game but for what it is. You will find that it does camp better than anything out there.

RE7 10/10
RE2 8/10
RE4 9/10 maybe 9.5 - it just didn't do the genre RE created justice

I still have yet to play REmake 1 so I'm interested to see how it compares to the others.

RE7 is borderline hilarious at times. "Zoe, get yo ass back to the house. I will deal with you later." Genius. Again, the point will be missed by those who are scaredy cats, ironically.

The things you're pointing out are pretty meaningless and even non-sensical. Those arbitrary scores have no real substance to them, I don't why you keep repeating them as if you're making a point with any depth. I also don't know why you keep comparing RE7 to MGS3 when those games are absolutely nothing alike.

>RE4 was a good game, but looking back now, it has been bettered by RE7
They're not remotely similar games.

>RE7's point will be missed by most
>You will find that it does camp better than anything out there
Okay?

>had a total of two bosses
This is objectively wrong. But aside from that, the enemies you fight in RE2 are infinitely more interesting than the ones in RE7, it's not even funny.

>RE2 is a fully-realized, and more well-rounded experience.
Not when the original actually did more with the multiple scenarios and how the gameplay crossed over between them. REmake 2 is good but it could've been great if it actually kept the good things that made the original RE2 the classic game it's recognized for.

Because an average game is 5.5. I'm saying that 10 is reserved only for perfection in a given genre or genre definers like DaS1. RE4 was not perfect - it couldn't decide if it was horror or action - that's why I give it a 9 looking back. It didn't define a genre It was a hybrid. RE7 is horror camp homage. It did for the horror genre what MGS3 did for 60s spy thrillers.

Are you getting buyer's remorse and feel you have to defend RE2? It's bland, bud. The story is completely basic with no twist.

Again, play RE7 without being frightened by it and you'll see what I mean. It's hilarious and over-the-top. You get your leg cut off with a shovel and a goofy looney hillbilly gives you some healing med to reattach it as he says "poor thing". Genius.

It's just all very memorable. I want to play it again.

You can just let it run at the main menu, I thought it keeps going when the game is closed though. Regardless I don't think it's bad when you're developing cutting edge technology and building massive structures.

>Amazing gameplay that feels smooth and nice to play
>Great engine that can even run on a toaster and still look good
>Filled with interesting details that range from gameplay aspects (Playing the sound of a man shitting while hiding in the bathroom will cause guards to think that's you) and simple yet nice little details (Helicopter dude making the original Game Over sound)
>A truly dark story and setting that could be a great showcase for Big Boss descend into darkness

All of this wasted on such a bland product with cut content, unsatisfaying ending, predictable plot twist and awful level design

Who am I suppose to blame for this? Hideo & Kojima, Konami...
Moby Dick Studios?????

Who cares, it is what it is. If you don't like it then move on.

You keep running with your own assertions and treat them as if it were fact. Even if I were to agree with your criteria, I still wouldn't agree RE7 is a "10". RE7 is neither perfection nor genre defining.

>RE4 was not perfect
Neither is RE7.

>RE7 is horror camp homage
>The story is completely basic with no twist
I honestly don't care. RE2 still felt way more interesting to play, whereas you're putting the story on a pedestal. (not even that, but just the "camp" which is pretty shallow and I still see no good reason why anyone would consider RE7 to be some sort of overlooked masterpiece)

>I want to play it again
And I want to go to bed. Have fun.

But RE7 is an overlooked masterpiece. It came out as this horror camp homage in a time of jump scare indie horrors. I didn't even find it all that scary - maybe dreadful - but it made me simultaneouly laugh and get excited when the main antagonists did anything, anything at all.

It was like a game where you feel like you're just another crazy person going along for the ride. That feeling is particularly exemplified when you just got your hand chopped off by your estranged lover only to stun her till she croaks out, "I love you" until a hillbilly hits you over the head and says, "welcome to the family, son". It's genius camp absurdity.

10/10 good night

Peacewalker is better than MGSV by miles
>complete story
>lots of missions
>decent bosses
>fun bonus content

Who cares about any of that stuff? It's a somewhat annoying and unnecessarily tacked on management game but it takes maybe a minute in between missions, it's just fluff and it only goes by faster and faster as you progress (through the game, not the management/development stuff itself). Just play the game itself and criticize it for the lack of diversity in side missions, if you can't even bother to do this minor stuff in-between this is obviously not a game for you. If you actually had the game running just to wait for base/tech development and away missions you're plain retarded given that electricity costs money and taxes the environment unless maybe you run on full solar/whatever. But nobody can be THAT stupid, can they?
