If FXIII-2 had nothing to do with XIII and was just a standalone RPG with it's own story and characters, it would've been decent. But it isn't.

Hated it at first but sticked to it and enjoyed it a lot. The cast was great, I liked the story, it was very well made, the gameplay was fun.
You need to read the datalog to get the story and never skip cutscenes.
My favorite part was not Gran Pulse (the part where the game opens up and people say it gets good). Maybe it that was because I didn't do all the quests there? but to me that part was just one huge generic looking field with hunting quests.
I didn't mind the linearity.
