>Not "we have purposefully trained him wrong as a joke"
I'm stuck on this casual filter
I beat the ogre on my first try, didn't even know he was a boss.
>shoot him with the fire cannon ninja tool.
>hit him repeatedly while he's stunned
>rinse and repeat
butterfly kicked my ass for 2 hours and I quit the game and have not played it in a week.
What do you mean by this?
>didn't just fight shrek only using your shinobi skills
>Not using the tools at your disposal to overcome obstacles
Is this your first souls game, or were you the guy who played through every souls game using absolutely nothing but a straight sword?
People had issues with the ogre? The ogre who had about a year of wind-up before each attack? Lol
"we've come to filter the playerbase for this game"
these games aren't difficult in the slightest
But butterfly was easier than any of the minibosses
its not a souls game scrubby
>Telling the player to side step granny when you should really be deflecting and adding pressure
>Telling the player to play the game like souls by having the first miniboss be a grab heavy enemy with shit hitboxes
>Telling them to side step grabs instead of jumping
Ogre is the worst offender by being a Souls enemy in a Sekiro game.
I think people would of got the deflect and memorize gameplay down a lot quicker if you fought the purple ninja or some Ishin style fighter instead of Ogre.
Someone like Giraffe Centipede should of been closer to the start.
>Reddit spacing
>Not only playing through souls games with just a primary weapon
Casual
>I've never played a Souls game
Imagine being an adult and not being able to recognise patterns.
Like, you need to recognise patterns to get through life. That's all From games are.
doublespacing the quote from the main text is not "reddit spacing" you psychopath
imagine unironically making a webm of a videogame for children in order to show off on a Mongolian bricklaying forum
kill ur'reself
I thought I got it but it seems like Sekiro still hasn't clicked for me. I keep getting my ass handed by butterfly's second phase.
>I'm not a casual
>I was just trained wrong!
Very weird coping mechanism from zoomers nowadays eh
It literally is reddit newfag
He was making a Kung Pow reference
Does that way skip her second phase? Because that's the one I have trouble with. First one is ez pz, but once she starts the fucking adds and projectiles bullshit I'm just fucking done.
based reddit expert
I'm not him I was just browsing page 1 and saw this. I've been spacing my posts on Yea Forums since 2005.
Literally every single faggot on this site that responds to anything with "reddit" is a fucking newfag. Lurk moar.
I'd almost be inclined to argue that the drunkard outside of Lady Butterfly is the bigger casual filter. That guy forces you get good and realize that this isn't just another Souls game.
When you actually meat Lady Butterfly though, the Drunkard has already forced you to improve.
I died more times to the Drunkard than to Lady Butterfly at the very least.
I probably died like a dozen times to the Drunkard, but I only died thrice to Lady Butterfly.
You haven't played it. What would "these games" even refer to, considering it is nothing like Souls games and is like a hundred times harder than they ever were.
Sekiro is very difficult.
People having trouble with Sekiro have never in their life played a rhythm game before, and it fucking shows.
>no u
The guardian ape is kind of like the blazing bull. He is super fast and hits like a truck, but the ape to the best of my knowledge never blocks.
Learn to run like a ninja and avoid all attacks and only jump in when it's safe to get blows in. Retreat before it gets dangerous though, better sooner than later.
how to get gud like this?
>What do you mean by this?
the fucking tip for granny is absolute ass, i filtered that shit so fucking quick
>Complaining about zoomers
>newfag
go back
I played every Souls game using nothing but the mace with a few miracles.
same feel
How did you jump in the air?
Hit and run fight. More of a test of your patience than an actual skill check
Genichiro is the real casual filter with his retarded bow stunlock and awful third phase, and rape ape is the final hurdle. If you can rape the ape you can beat anything else
>chained ogre
>just an obscenely large white guy kept prisoner
what did the japs mean by this?
Beat him first try. Stuck on Butterfly for an hour now. It's just the fucking Souls dickbragging about bosses again when everyone simply has different experiences due to differing playing habits and skillsets.
Very cool user!

That skip is harder than the actual fight against ogre lol. The jump has to be frame perfect, even speedrunners don't do it because you are almost guaranteed to fall.
It’s a joke about Amerifags being mindlessly violent and needing to be chained up, absolutely based
I mean, the game forces you to fight the Drunkard first. So by that measure I kind of feel like he'd be the casual filter.
But then again you're without a doubt correct so it should be very possible for someone to have an easy time with the Drunkard and still a really hard time with Lady Butterfly.
Opposite for me. Both ogre and drunkman were one shot kills for me, but butterfly (and most everything after) kicked my shit in repeatedly. The game just got harder and harder for me, even when I started to feel like it clicked in my head, I still died 10+ times each boss fight.
Its just FromSofts unique vision of how ogres in Japanese mythology look like. Overall Sekiro doesn't really follow Jap mythology, but rather FromSofts own, original mythology that takes inspiration from it.
For example the Headless behave like Kappa demons, despite not being Kappa demons. They rewrote a lot of stuff to create their own lore.
>white guy
What?
Oh shit did I just cheat myself. Samurai bro helped carry me through the fight with drunkard and now I'm stuck on butterfly.
Drunkard is ez, you can go around and throw a ceramic shard to aggro him then back off, when he goes back to default behavior he’ll actually wander back it into the arena instead of back into the temple and that gives you a window to get a free deathblow on him. If you didn’t talk to the samurai guy before engaging he’ll join the fight a little later and help you stunlock the boss, no effort needed. Game is less about finesse and more about finding the cheese
This isn't a casual filter it's just the first difficult fight that you have to actually spend time learning
I think that's a reference to some wrestler guy or whatever that is, I'm not into that. Someone posted the name and a pic in another thread, I forgot the name.
dude looks like a castaway from a European ship lmao
How the fuck is anyone struggling with this game? I'm borderline retarded and struggled immensely with DaS3 but haven't had any trouble with Sekiro. Combos don't even have to be parried perfectly. You can spam LB and only partt some hits but still have plenty posture. You all suck. Yikes and cringe. Good game though.
I beat Ogre on the third try. Although I feel like using the firecannon and also running away and hiding so I can sneak and stealth death blow his first dot was kind of cheesing.
>you will never have a bunny wife that makes you rice from her small & magical hands
>you will never have an equally small lord turn that rice into sweets
>you will never have all of this in the cool monkey realm
What am I even fighting for?
you can see where she spawns near the roof in her second phase. Just get close to her and keep attacking and she will never spawn adds
8 hours later, lobos still stuck on final boss
Sneak attacks and using the proper tool for the job is playing like a ninja, which you are, not cheese.
>willingly watching soibos
>I lack of skill in the game is fine cause its lore friendly
Not him but holy shit I had to read your sentence like 6 times to make sense of it. To be fair though I'm not a native speaker but still.
This, but unironically. Ninja were historically the most underhanded sneaky little assholes around. The famed vanishing trick was just them smashing a hollowed-out egg full of crushed pepper in your eyes and running away
damn son git gud at english
Basically. A proper historical ninja game would essentially be Hitman: Feudal Japan where you sneak into the local Lord's mansion by pretending to be a gardener and slit his throat with a kama while he's praying.
I just beat the game but not going to lie I got stuck for many retries on almost every single boss and mini boss until I anticipated all their attacks. The danger icon doesn't help much. If anything it's a distraction since it pulls my attention away from the actual animation in the split second I need to decide how to respond.
>look at me posting on reddit
way to out yourself, redditor
It'd be nice if the bell demon curse or something turned it off, it's annoying having it block my view of the animation even if it's only for a moment.
Just parry he usually runs away after a combo giving you the opportunity to regain posture.
Also after, hit and run the fuck cant even catch up to you
i don't know how you fags have any trouble with this monkey, the butterfly fight should have already taught you how to parry properly, you can parry all his telegraphed moves easily and when he gets the sword it only makes it easier once you know all his moves, literally git gud mate.
Only a danger audio cue would be nice since you can respond faster to hearing than visuals. The icon could've been an aid for deaf players or something.
literally this
gimme the sound plus maybe a brief red flash around the edges of the screen
Fuck the headless so much. My panic over running out of consumables was way worse than the fight itself
I’ve been fighting Lady Butterfly for a week. Have I finally been pleb filtered?
casual filter for me was the bull and 3rd phase genchiro. finally beat genchiro after about 3 hourts but taking a break with some P5 ^^
Historically, if Yea Forums ever calls something 'imba', 'bullshit', 'artificial', or 'unfair', it means they're a shitter that's about to write an entire game off because they're incapable of getting gud
The Ogre really? Hes a dark souls boss cmon people. You know who else pushed my shit in besides butterfly was the fucking monk illusion. Christ she had a ton of health, took forever.
The game gets a lot more fun when you start NG+ and can give Kuro a charm at the beginning so makes it so that if you don't perfect deflect you take chip damage on everything
Your posture gets beat up a lot faster in NG+ as well
Proceed with other areas to get gear and gud.
Bashed my brains in with her before reaching castle and came back later, much easier with more shit
>If anything it's a distraction since it pulls my attention away from the actual animation in the split second I need to decide how to respond.
Very much true. Would be better if the warning was sound like someone yelling "Look out Wolf! He's about to grab ya!"
I beat Lady Butterfly on my 3rd try. That Giant fucker took me like 12 tries. And the drunkard before the lady took me 6 tries.
What does that say about me?
Have fun with the bull and horserider, bro
How do you fix bad fps drops on pc? Shit is getting out of hand sometimes.
It says you're getting better user! Keep up the good work!
Do you know what a shinobi is?
For me turning it down from max to high was enough for solid 60. Nothing you can do if turning graphics down as far as they go won't help you.
I was thinking more similar to a black dude in a movie theater.
I didn't think it was that bad. If you just hold down the run button you can avoid most/all of his very telegraphed attacks and get a few hits in while he recovers. I thought I would run out of divine confetti, so I maybe overfarmed it and ended up with 10 pieces of it. At least I had some left over to fight the Shichimin Warrior
Bunny?
beat butterfly baa-chan on my first try, worship me
Wow it’s like this game has shitty design in some places hmmmm...
spent 2 hours on this POS but every other boss was EZ
I hated every fight with beasts and monsters. Straight up sword fights were fun though.
He has insane posture recovery. You literally have to take down his health.
what.. ? you only need to parry his second phase
first phase isnt about parrying
>I think people would of got the deflect and memorize gameplay down a lot quicker if you fought the purple ninja or some Ishin style fighter instead of Ogre.
Yeah, that purple guy guarding the pagoda in Hirata makes a great tutorial boss
Very easy. Owl on the other hand was a nightmare for me personally
does the game run well? I got a medium quality computer and wondering if I can hit 660 fps reliably if I lowered the settings.
>Actually got to fight END
Anyways the Ape is the most Dark Souls-ish of the bosses with the exception of maybe the Demon of Hatred. If you don't like the fight you don't like any Souls creature boss
In Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox I got stuck at the tutorial boss for a long time.
And when I finally managed to finish the tutorial boss after a month I pretty much finished the game easily in one go.
So i have been reading lately that its a waste of time to kill headless as there is no greater reward for doing so or no secret unlocked for killing them all.
Is this true?
Only thing it does it get them out of your sight ?
You get infinite versions of the consumables that cost a couple of spirit emblems instead. Good thing there are only 5 (arguably 6) headless in the game so you don't have to redo the boss so often!
The game follows the animal zodiac.
You know those candies that buffs you?
Well, each headless (there are 5 in the game) gives you unique candy that you can use forever.
>tfw I learned how weak he is to oil and fire
Tell me more.
ohh well i dont use those candies much anyways because that shit doesn't last no more than 10 fucking seconds
The abilities don't last as long though. (Except stealth apparently)
Once you get completely accustomed to the games controls you will be able to do this easily
havent seen any tigers rats or goats yet and im at the hidden forest
Damn, this is pretty impressive. I barely got through her first form before getting my shit pushed in during the second one.
hit her twice then dodge right. stay in her face. shuriken her when she goes airborne. run when she uses phantoms
Here’s a cheat user, R1, spin art, R1, spin art, R1, spin art.
She can’t recover in time and rarely hyperarmoirs, usually for peril move
Yeah, but getting to use them indefinitely sounds OP as fuck.
>tfw Im now able to buy Divine Confetti and ive been hunting down all the headless that kicked my shit in back when i got started
Did he pull out his heart thru his ass or something lol?
en.wikipedia.org
>As water monsters, kappa have been blamed for drownings, and are often said to try to lure people into water and pull them in with their great skill at wrestling. They are sometimes said to take their victims for the purpose of drinking their blood, eating their livers, or gaining power by taking their shirikodama (尻子玉), a mythical ball said to contain the soul, which is located inside the anus
Basically, Japan gotta Japan
Lady butterfly killed me when she had literally nothing left on her healthbar. I feel cheated.
Avoid combat until she despawns her adds. Shell bring them in twice.
Why does this game look like such shitty godawful trash in comparison to literally every Souls game and BB?
lol ass souls
The lesser known spinoff in the souls series
>a boss you can completely skip and come back to fight after gaining a ton of upgrades
>casual filter
>hear people complaining about lady butterfly
>start progressing in the main area but come back to her after gyoube
>she fucks me up for 15 minutes, don't even get past phase 1
>look up tips
>see someone says if you use the nightjar slash sword art and spam it she doesn't know how to react and just keeps getting hit or blocks it but can't hit you back because it messes with her animations
>beat her first try doing that
wowwwwwwww
Anyone have any tips on knowing how to read when an opponent is about to either do a charge attack or a sliding one? I can do the Mikiru thing no problem because usually those enemies are using spears and shit, but when they're using swords and they go low it confuses the fuck out of me.
Have fun with the double headlesses in fountainhead :3
>firecracker
>r1r1r1
>firecracker
>r1r1r1
repeat
HUURRRRRR SOO HARD
>Someone like Giraffe Centipede should of been closer to the start.
Totally agree, boss is a joke when it's introduced. Would be a great introduction to new players
you have to just look at their body/arms. I think a lot of people's eyes get drawn to the "DANGER" symbol that flashes on perilous attacks and they get distracted from looking at what the enemies arms are actually doing. That's how I got over it, anyway.
>phase 2
looking if they start their swing from the left or right is a usually a good way to learn attacks but almost certainly not gonna work on everything
Those are underwater headless. Way easier than regular ones.
For me this came down to just watching where the weapon goes. If the enemy stays huddled up chances are its a thrust, but if the suddenly go for a big wind up its probably a sweep.
I know saying this doesnt mean much because when your in combat its hard to think about.
Tips on fighting Owl (Father)?
What about Owl(Mother)?
did both phases first try
you just bait an attack then punish his massive endlag
git gud at deflecting or perish.
also don't get overwhelmed at 2nd phase, the spirit owl doesn't actually do anything.
Granny maybe, but the Ogre is just a retard filter. Seriously I don’t know how people keep on bitching about the one enemy that gives you free shots in before the fight even begins and is surrounded by shit that hints about what he’s weak to.
I've hit a wall at Genchiro. Just can't beat the guy.
>dog (wolf) the exact opposite of dragon
Maybe?
I like that jump!
You need to be aggressive and learn when to deflect/parry
A lot of people have trouble with the bow so focus on learning when the arrow comes into contact with you.
do you have umbrella yet?
get the follow up attack for it so you can block all his shit and build up some big damage
everything else is just learning to parry his shit its a very pure fight with little bull
What shit would that be?
What kind of autist finds this shit
is the poison dagger prosthetic garbage or is it just me?
Genichiro is a test whether or not you understand the game system. If you try to get safe hits in and back off every time he attacks you are going to get your shit kicked in. But if you keep attacking and deflecting you are going to win very easily. Also in the second form don't dodge the lightings but jump parry them back to him and fuck him up with the Isshin style.
First phase: bait attacks/run then get a couple hits in.
second phase: parry the sword attacks until he does he one where he holds the sword in the air then comes down, parry this attack to get 4-5 hits in, and repeat this. Way easier than first phase.
stay close and spam 2-3 attacks then parry, repeat , mikiri counter the thrust , if its the wide swipe jump on his head. As long as you stay close and don't let him have some distance he won't do the bow barrage.
last phase do the lightning reversal and its super easy/fast.
neets and speedrunners
...
It's good against the snake eyes and the others in the gun fort
He was white? Didnt get a good look.
Is he Robert?
>oh fuck fuck fuck the ogre is coming run away run run run!
>oh fuck shit fuck in my panic I ran off the ledge button mash mash jump for hope
>ohhhh fuuuck i am still going and about to hit that ledge gra grab grab
Most bosses are weak to poison
*Has second phase but only has one red dot in the beginning in your path*
Have you never seen a speedrun?
OoT autists have found ways to glitch into the final boss from the tutorial, this is nothing.
>see jump
>wonder if i can make that jump
>try to make the jump
its not autistic in the slightest its called playing the video game
fire
(ie oil+ flame prosthetic)
When the jump has to be frame perfect it requires autism to test
should i finish genichiro or the temple first?
Just wait until you see the demon.
Genichiro. I finished temple first and it kinds breaks the flow of the story. Obviously doesn't matter much it's just funny as fuck how you can just go grab the Mortal Blade right after killing Genichiro while Kuro speaks about it like it's supposed to be hard to get.
the game becomes a joke when you realise
>mashing L1 is usually enough to parry everyone to death
>bosses are almost universally weak to using your infinite stamina to run around then sneak in a hit and run while they wind down from a whiff
>tfw I killed Genichiro without losing too much of my mind
He's really fun. The fight is well designed. I love how they force through Iaijutsufag to make sure your parry game is vaguely competent.
the funniest part is that mashing L1 doesnt actually work, most of the time you'll be blocking instead of parrying and getting fucked
Yeah it’s why I dropped it when I got to the guardian ape. I can’t take it anymore.
I felt the same. Then I slept on it and beat him in 2 tries the next day.
lilac umbrella makes it so trivial, no need to worry about consumables.
Side dodge attack over and over and she just dies
at what point of progression do NPC quests auto-fail?
>slides toward you swinging his sword
>circle around him
>slap his ass a few times
>run away laughing while he reeeeees like a faggot
You may kill bosses by running around but it will take you 10 times as long as learning the fight.
I not only did the Temple before Genichiro, I did everything in Mibu Village as well. It screws with the pacing but it's fun how nonlinear the game can be.
Had a bad time with the ogre.
Beat lady butterfly 1st try.
I was disappointed you couldn't just tell Kuro "Been there, done that" when he tells you how to find the other areas.
literally beat the guardian ape first try. never played any souls game but this entire game is so easy to cheese with sprint including this ape real hard games are pvp games against actual humans because you cant cheese them unless game is dogshit
Later in the game there's another Ogre in the ashina castle and no shit he gave me more trouble than the first encounter, probably because it's a very tight space you fight him in and his grabs have insane tracking sometimes
Something like that happened for me with the stone you get from Mibu Village, does that always happen? He told me to get the stone and was like "What is that you have in your hand?"
>souls PVP
>lagroll simulator
lol
there are multiple ogres in the late game which is fun
unironically git gud
i said i never played any souls game. im talking about actual pvp games like fighting games. those games are hard not this cheesefest
The bosses are harder in Sekiro, but Dark Souls is still harder because of its environments. There's no Blightown, Depths, or Anor Londo archers in Sekiro. Exploring is stress-free, whereas in Dks there's still a heightened sense of suspense when exploring.
>lol he used items get gud
So you telling me you never healed in your run?
user, I genuinely do not believe you are that good. I don't think anyone here does. You're on an anonymous imageboard. Why bother lying?
>Beat Horseman
>Beat old bitch
>Beat Genny who walled me alittle until I came back somewhat stronger and 1 shot him after the embarrassing set before hand.
>Beat ape on second try because its just a crappy patience test overall
I think im just going to get the bad ending. The combat is starting to click and did with the second set I fought Gen in but I just don't enjoy it. This is like MGR above normal mode to me I don't like parry as a core mechanic only a side one. I got Isshin to the second phase first time I attempted him so I should be able to beat him in a set. Ill trade it in atleast I beat it in some fashion.
For the record well I dislike the deflect core mechanic I liked it against Butterfly/Gen. But I dislike how so many mini bosses even before them that were required have bigger stamina gauges , do more damage and feel like assholes. Snake eyes and Orin felt gay as shit and so did ever boss version of the shadow long sword guys with that kick that seemed like it tracked until the last second.
I also would rather end it and get out then fight double ape nonsense.
I like the more accurate lag version where the invader actually gets the backstab
you literally sprint until he whiffs an unsafe attack which for me was the attack attack - attack attack thing and punish it. do this 20 more times and thats it
Outside of mini bosses you have to kill cus white wall Sekiro yeah has pitiful areas. You can outrun anything in a moments notice nothing can do shit about branch running and check points everywhere.
>Exploitable AI is easier to overcome than a living breathing human opponent
WOW WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS!
He can hyperarmor through Firecrackers or just straight up ignores them every other time. I know this because he walked through Firecrackers to give me his Monkey Business at least five times. You're full of shit.
>Telling the player to side step granny when you should really be deflecting and adding pressure
You need to side step her for her 2nd phase when her attacks are accompanied by unblockable fireballs.
>Exploring is stress free
My first encounter with headless in a dark cave was not stress free, especially as he proceeded to rip out my asshole
Unironically took the longest to beat Lady Butterfly because I didn't understand yet that you should deflect everything instead of dodging or jumping. Around the point I got to Genichiro I understood how to play this game and downed both Shinobi Owl and Isshin with under five tries. Died probably 25 times to Lady Butterfly.
Know how to deflect and she's as easy as any other human boss in the game.
Headless are such anti fun crap. Only a few tools to make them bearable and the underwater one is probably the stupidest gimmick ever and feels really fucking out of place considering the others in dark spooky places when hes under the sun where the water is clear.
well motherfucker you dont see anyone crying about pvp games all day do you?
that was a mini-boss though and you can easily avoid it by running away
Honestly the purple guy was my casual filter, the shinobi hunter spear guy was easy because Mikiri counter, ogre didn't give me much trouble, and I didn't fight lady butterfly until later which ended up being easy, but purple guy killed me over and over for like an hour. The camera sucks in that area and I really didn't know you could Mikiri his kick.
HAHAHAAH
RIVAL SUCK GRANDPA TAKE HIM OUT
GRANPAP STOP FUCKING RAPING ME WITH YOUR POLEARM.
Playing on NG+ makes me wonder wtf I was doing on my first playthrough. Got to Genichiro in 20 minutes now, felt like it took forever on my first run.
Also why is NG+ so hard? Everything hits like a monster truck. I gave Kuro his charm back, so that might influence it
AHEM
FUCK KEKICHIKEKO AND FUCK ASHINA
You know hes super easy to cheese right? Jump to take one of his lives then loop him on one of the rocks to jump up and down. Snake eyes was the closest I came to being filtered. I did no fucking stamina damage couldn't get the parry timings down on its stupid fucking shit and was afraid of being shot. Then I lured it into the poison and laughed. Seriously that stupid things stamina went down slower then Butterfly Horseman or the Monk it was guarding I don't understand why the mini bosses are largely more fucking annoying and do more damage/with bigger posture then bosses. I guess less moves? But it just lends them to be more annoying because one fuck up on something simple and you feel more annoyed.
It's like a spirit orb that Japanese believe is kept in the ass. If you look carefully at the end, you can see him shoving the orb up in his own ass.
>underwater one
lmao, stay away from diving in waterfall palace. You're gonna have the time of your life
NG+ is always crap on From games. DaS2 tried something different but it was mostly annoying crap Adds or just enemies with higher stats but red. Nothing changes and shit hits harder and has more life most of the time.
I thought that was genichiro
can't believe everyone is bitching so much about him. died to him less than the guy before genichiro, what a joke
Unless you beat Sekiro without any prosthetic, gourd, memories or bead upgrades on NG+7 while using the demon bell you didn't really beat the game.
So far Owl in his prime has been the most fun to fight for me.
Took forever to beat butterfly but ogre took me only one try wtf? Is the entire game like this?
You're right. The first miniboss in this game should have been Sword Saint Isshin.
I only wish the camera didn't sperg out on pillars.
>died to him less than the guy before genichiro, what a joke
Sounds to me like your playstyle relies on dodging and draining HP instead of deflecting and posture.
Name a better boss
>baller track
>fun moveset to deflect
>fun 2nd phase
>her terrifying laughter and even more improved moveset on 3rd phase
Depends, some people panic more against Guardian Ape because his movements are more erratic and for them becomes harder to react to than Genichiro
>genchirou does the slam attack that leads in to swipe or thrust
>smoke flies everywhere
>red symbol shoots up
AAAAHHHHHH
>Not handing back Kuro's charm at the start of the NG+7
Filth. You are filth.
I am above everyone at playing Dark Souls and I do it without using items like a bitch to make the game less easy. Fuck all those retards playing games like they were intented, fucking scrubs. I am totally not fucked in the feed!!
mist raven just nullifies this bossfight
I've got some terrible news. She's the token easy boss of the game.
imagine being a shitter and having to cheese that boss
>monk
>she
Why is Owl (Father) bullshit?
I either deflect too early or get hit.
What the fuck is the timing.
His firecracker shit is stupid too
Whats the point of jumping over his sweep if he moves so far away to jump on.
He seems to he the antithesis of how the game tries to teach you to play.
Cant be aggressive because his attacks cant be interrupted.
My only question is the difference between owl in his prime and weaker owl in the present is only like 2 years right? What happened in those 2 years for him so lose his edge? He lost his owl spirit guardian,? Or was the memory owl just an idealised version in Sekiros head that he had to phycologically face? Or is it real time travel? So many questions.
Have you not read her memory?
>he doesn't know
How many bosses are there before Genshiro and without spoilers does anything change after Genshiro?
its niche but very good vs certain bosses and the final set of mob enemies in the endgame(guys in red armor)
Dude you are at the start of the game. Genichiro is early stuff. I don't think you fuck yourself out of anything by beating him as early as possible. Though I just played through the game blind and got the woodcarver ending.
He can be interrupted. The firecrackers are the only real bullshit he pulls since they can kill you in one full blast. Since he doesn't have danger warnings you got to keep a close eye on when he spreads gunpowder around. Thankfully you don't have to dodge far.
No clue wtf the woodcarving ending is but thanks user
Against the final boss it's a must have. You're not gonna get his health down enough for him to not regenerate his stamina/posture quickly before going through all your gourds. Poison hits him after 1.5 attack sequences with the sabimaru. Sometimes I poisoned him after just one rush, but I dunno what I did differently.
Let me think
The shinobi hunter, drunk, lady butterfly
Four samuri(?), bull, horseback, the thing in the fog house, snake eyes, shaman guy, second drunken, ninja in the well, ashina elite, some headless. Am i missing anything.
kek
Brainlet here, any Vaatvidya lore videos yet bros?
I literally came here right after beating this guy for the first time just now, its genuinely is one of the easier bosses for me, took about 8 tries I think, less than an hour for sure
I killed him by being patient instead of being aggressive. Which i feel is shit because the game wants you to be hyper aggressive yet for some reason punishes you for doing so
You know the rules
You can rummage through all of Senpou Temple before facing Genichiro. There's a guy you can talk to there who you miss otherwise.
How do I get more health?
Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is Chained Ogre Hard Hahahaha Nigga Just Dodge Away From The Grab Like Nigga Press Circle Button Haha
You can get to the depths too so that's snake eyes 2, mist noble, glutton and false corrupted monk. There's also 2 wolverine guys, and ROOBBBEEERRRRTTT
I just got to the saint blade boss, if I beat him, do I get locked out of doing demon of hatred?
You can run around on his left and he will whiff all of his attacks. His charge needs a bit of course correction from you but as long as you are sprinting around him like an angry clock you will get a swing at him every few seconds.
butterfly tells you "dodge and r1" as a "tip"
which is absolutely a fucking lie, as standing in front and spamming l1 is the way to victory via posture damage.
I have killed Genichiro and already visited and thoroughly [to the best my current abilities] explored all the locations Lord Kuro mentioned [Mibu/Gunfort/Senpou]
How far am I from the end?
Who is that 2 dot guy right after Ogre with like 5 other dudes around him? Like right after a boss is a second boss in the next area? I am finding that guy suspicious.
HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
>HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
>HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
>HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
>HOLD YOUR GUARD TO INCREASE POSTURE RECOVERY
snap seed the adds away, you don't have to but it gives her less projectiles when she despawns them
You can say 'no' to starting NG+ immediately and continue dicking around in NG. I don't know if demon of hatred is still around after that but he should be.
This game is pretty easy imo.
Compared to other From games at least.
I think sprinting really helps with some bosses,
If you’re getting overwhelmed.
Find 4 prayer beads
Home stretch honestly
this also fucks souls players as holding shield lowers your stamina regen.
wouldn't that be the DBZ dragon?
I'd say you're 60% through.
Why did people have issue with ogre? He's literally a basic Souls boss. You can strafe dodge around him and poke. He's arguable the easiest boss.
Fug. Those are hard to get.
The time of day starts to change through the game as you progress but it doesn't do much yet. You can do a large part of the game's main areas before Genichiro because it's very nonlinear but you'll screw the pacing a bit.
Like 1/5 left maybe.
do the forsen run
Fighting Owl the first time. For the most part I think I can handle him. But he does this attack that seems to be a grab but I don't get the 'danger' kanji so I always get hit.
The one where he does a kick to stun you and then stabs down. Any advice for not getting hit by that?
I don't know what you guys mean with hyper aggressive. Pretty much every enemy will let you get two or 3 hits in before they do a perfect parry and counter you. You can't just keep mashing without going on the defensive. At which point you do (consecutive) deflects before mom says it's your turn to attack. If you're lucky they toss in a swipe or stab for even madder posture damage. If you do this perfectly you can win every phase in seconds even if you're on the defensive the whole time as long as it's not a beast/monster enemy that just flails and ignores posture.
So far Owl is proving this wrong for me
it's always thrust first hp bar swipe 2nd hp bar
Kappa are cute killer ponies
First phase is only hard because of the jump/roll grab because the timing of the dodge needs to be precise or you'll get pulled into the grab if you're too close to it even after you jump/dodge sideways.
Once you get to the second phase it's piss easy. Just perfect parry the big downward slash and use the spear to pull out the centipede for big damage.
You get one for beating each miniboss, and there are a few hidden in chests in secret locations. For example, the dojo with the Tengu has one.
Instinct is you can't block something that big.
beat her first try as well, it's really easy to beat bosses once you learn that 75% of them get posture broken super quick by just spamming attack at them and blocking when they get an attack through. and using shuriken in this fight made it super trivial, I also listened to the damn hints in the game and used snap seeds.
I beat both of them and I only managed one deathblow on Genichiro.
Probably because of the grabs and their wonky hitboxes
>game set in japan
>follows chinese zodiac
are you one the guys also forcing this bullshit pattern on fire pokemon starters?
add snake eyes to that
You can buy one in the dungeon
>No trouble with the Snake Eyes sitting on the cliffside.
>The poison pool Snake Eyes has been bending me over a rock for hours now.
Please.
how is that not the definition of a casual filter you retard?
>tfw having 10x as much trouble with that random white shinobi hunter in Hinata than I did with Ogre
Milky Counter is just not my thing.
>Two plunging attacks and spams firecrackers
>so engrossed in r1 spam he still almost gets killed
What an absolute faggot jesus christ.
jesus christ get good. you can be aggressive as fuck in this fight if you're good at positioning
Puppeteer the gunners that are around and watch them mortar the bitch to death
Japan follows the animal zodiac too. They just don't call it the Chinese zodiac there.
PARKOUR PARKOUR.
>easier
I got 5 rot essence trying to kill thoae fuckers
Was there any references to explicitly shinto stuff in the game because it seemed to be mostly Buddhist stuff.
Bend her over a rock. This rock specifically. She can't hit you like this.
>tfw keep falling off the ledges and dying
why did they make ashina outskirts so hard to walk around bros
It worked for me.
You don't need to damage his health at all to beat the final boss. You can end each phase in like 30 seconds if you stay aggressive and keep deflecting. You're playing wrong if you need to deal health damage to beat bosses.
Without spoilers, is there anything I need to do to get the "good" ending?
It was the other way around for me, the one in Gun Fort almost made me ragequit, fought her for like 1 hour straight.
I use it vs lightning enemies as it gets poison and at least 6 attacks in before the enemy recovers from the lightning reversal.
I beat that boss first try without skipping any of her healthbars. I have no idea why you would ever have to cheese her unless you speedrun the game.
another general. best to stealth kill as many of his lackeys before facing him.
but the "tip" is literally the worst way to beat butterfly.
they should be telling you "PARRY HER SHIT FOR POSTURE"
Is it true that you can't actually parry properly on a PS4 because there's an input lag?
It's definitely REAL time travel. You can ask what year it is the first time you go back in time. You also keep your prosthetic. If you are reflecting on your past and wondering what you could have done differently at that point in time, you don't imagine yourself having all kinds of modern conveniences.
there's literally an invisible wall preventing you from doing that unless you jump or miss a grapple point
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you might be retarded
post you're secret cheese strats.
mine is that you can kill the ashina elite before genichiro even if you're braindead by just dodging left (only left) from his double slash move, and then getting a hit or two in.
>fun 2nd phase
Fuck you
Run into the hallway the fog is blocking so the other gunners don't get involved. Rapidly spam deflect whenever she pulls out her gun to block the bullets.
More like "Use shurikens and fuck her up"
>they should be telling you "PARRY HER SHIT FOR POSTURE"
Most players won't be able to do this without dying in 2 hits, dodging straight at her when she attacks and hitting her in the back is the safest way.
you're using charged R1 aren't you? you're getting mikiri countered my dude.
Tip, wait for the weapon shine, not the symbol or animation
>Blight town
Poison swamp on the valley below guardian ape's area
>Anor Londo Archers
Valley bridge with multiple snipers shooting you from the distance
>Depths
Dark snake cave with enemies coming out of the walls, if you fight back you have to be careful to not hit the snake or it will rampage and crush you
because I played Nioh this game was easy as shit
especially lady butterfly she's just an easier version of hino-enma
I had to cheese him with ashes and firecrackers. Even then it was tough. Apparently he's super weak to poison though.
>you're using charged R1 aren't you?
Not on purpose at least. But if he can mikiri counter me back I guess that's good to know
Yeah Owl is the final filter.
Is it just me or does munky look like Kratos?
Can you do this with Genichiro as well?
Uuhh, feed a little girl
dodging is the worst thing to do in this game.
>no posture gain
>posture bar goes down
The game encourages you to always be on the offense and deflect (not block) attacks and keep on attack relentlessly.
Most enemies get interrupted (even Isshina, SS Isshina, Granny and Genchiro) owl is the only humanoid boss that poises through attacks and it honestly feels out of place. All other human bosses deflect you then attack. Owl straight up super armors, but hes inconsistent about which attacks do or dont get interupted.
It's to compensate you having already beating and learning the boss's patterns on your previous playthrough.
It sucks that you deal less damage to bosses though and it can make some fights lasts longer on certain bosses who already has small windows where you can attack them between parries.
just killed sword saint. I cant believe people actually run n poke this boss. just hug him and deflect and answer to his thrusts with mikiri and sweeps with goomba stomp.
There is one bad ending which ends the game early and you fight 2 unique bosses that you don't face on the other paths and it will be obvious when it shows up to avoid it just don't be a dick, one normal ending that you get from progressing normally and then 2 other endings that require you to do a chain of various things, talk to various people. Hint: try eves dropping on friendly NPC at every opertunity.
butterfly:
spam the l1 button and then hit the r1 button a few times. jump when the chinese letters appear on screen. done.
ogre:
walk behind him and stealth blow him on the rack. spam r1. done.
bunch of "right place, right time" eavesdrops and dialogue. it's pretty obnoxious how From hides better endings behind things you likely won't do outside of a guide.
Dodging and hitting, the latter is important. Doing this relentlessly is the second fastest way to break posture and it takes a way a lot of health too.
If you perfect him, sure, but otherwise getting him to 75% health helps tons.
Every boss is spam r1 and press l1 when they attack.
Is there a penalty for using the Sakura Droplet?
It gives an extra "life" right?
For some reason I could not stop getting hit by every single one of juzou's attacks.
>When the Chained Ogre is probably a white guy and one of the Christian missionaries in Japan that got hunted down under Ieyasu's reign
Please tell MatPat to look into this for me
i'v ran into 2 headless and im at o'rin and there's also a schichimen warrior i want to kill, i don't trust i can kill them all with the amount of confetti i have what do
Snap seeds for the ads or use the shurkiken wheel. It one shots them. Also the projectiles are largely created by any ads you did not kill so just unload your shuriken on them if you're out of snap seeds.
The fan prosthetic gets both perfect parries on that guy
>fun 2nd phase
all phases are fun, but the only thing second phase does is just add a boring illusion part and waste your time. I think it's the worst of the three phases
mfw I've not used a single one of the consumables and probably never will because I'm a resource whore
with the dodge left move, he literally cannot hit you, he will keep trying to do the double slash and due to hitboxes, you WILL not get hit by dodging left.
Based and Nioh pilled
It is more similar to nioh than dark souls
I like the combat but man exploration sucks dick, if you miss a path you have to comb over the whole game and it's just excruciating, about midway through I just started googling where to go because fuck that. Level design a shit.
Is that a cheese? I thought that was the regular way to beat him.
why the fuck would christians send ogre missionaries
Upgrade to purple umbrella, absorbe all their attacks and fire it back at em. Makes aperation fights a joke.
This game is one of the biggest pleb filters in recent memory. Single-handedly it has utterly BTFO the mainstream gaming audience with a fucking ogre miniboss that takes 80 seconds to beat max
I can understand not getting perfect parries all the time but even spam parries or holding guard will keep you alive. Even if your guard is broken you rarely get hit afterwards. You retry until you get the timings down.
If you charged your attacks the fight would had ended sooner.
Nah, it's a typical white person to a Japanese person. That's why he's so big, because Japs are manlets
I deflect enemy attacks and r1 when i have the opportunity
Is it just me or is the chained ogre just a random white guy that the Japanese tied up?
Why are white people so insanely huge in Sekiro?
>reading is hard
jesus christ you're dumb. you're spoonfed where to go throughout the entire game
Top tier:
Ichimonji
Shit tier:
Everything else.
they barely do shit anyway. I have used all the candies multiple times against hard bosses and I didn't notice any difference. you don't even need bullshit like the snapping beans, ceramic/ash are useless because stealth is so meh, etc. they really cocked the items up.
Yeah he's like "oh this stone right here?"
Something similar happens if you buy the flamevent hint after picking it up, he says "I already have one" and the guys like "oh, oops, take some oil then"
it feels unintended. if you were supposed to dodge him then it should apply to both directions, it's not like he does some huge swing coming from one direction.
You're supposed to parry him, he dies super fast if you parry his two sword strikes like 3 times.
Use shuriken+forward slash, nightjar slash or spear to chase after her when she jumps back.
Stop attacking and parry her attacks once she starts her attack animation,
You can parry her grab, but only if you guard once her hand reaches you, but before she pulls you back.
you're supposed to kill him after genchiro? i found him piss easy to kill, just double parry his combo twice and he loses all his fucking posture and dies
but i parried all his shit except for the perilous attacks, the fart and poop, (fucking kek, now that i write about it it's pretty fucking funny that he throws shit and farts in your face) maybe you're right and the first phase is easier when you run and hit but when i got to him i enyojed a lot seeing my based shinobi dab on niggas with constant parry.
tbf lots of the consumables are too situational. sugar buffs expire way too quickly as well. the only item that makes an impression resource-wise is divine confetti.
>purple ninja
He seemed like he was going to kick my ass too many times so I just jumped down to lose his attention then snuck up behind him for an insta-kill. I didn't learn jack shit from him...
welp seems i missed the umbrella cause i don't have it
shadowfall is by far the best skill in the game, it's so busted
I find the best strat is just to park in front and just parry or attack
Dodging = bar goes down
>get one vague bit of dialogue 2 hours ago while I'm headed in a different direction
>oh yeah I'm supposed to go there! except I don't even remember what they said now
nah fuck off
If not for the control scheme being different the game could very well have been Nioh 2 with a huge step back in RPG elements and combat
Ash is broken as fuck
>You don't see anyone shitposting in fighting game threads about how dumb playing fighting games is
Have you wondered why that is? How does it feel to be more obnoxious than a soulsfag?
White people in those times were a lot shorter as well.
I haven't used a single combat skill on purpose. They all seem so fucking slow and not worth the time when I could just mash R1 instead.
It doesn't help that you have to kill all of his goons before you can realistically fight him
even then running or jumping is better
side stepping is stupid in this game, it's the worst thing you can do in 90% of situations
>Rats.
You've been dealing with "rats" for a while.
It's a joke, hence my first spoiler
You buy it from black hat badger, a dwarf merchant in a ruined house just after the old grave shrine in ashina castle
The invisibility candy is cheesy good. It makes your stealth really broken. If you feel bad about using resources just kill the misty forest Headless, he drops a reusable version that uses spirit emblems instead.
How to beat corrupted monk
>1. Start fight with 4 strikes
>2. Firecrackers
>3. Strike twice
>4. Repeat 2 and 3 until out of firecrackers
>5. POCKET SAND
>6. Strike twice
>7. Repeat 5 and 6 until out of pocket sand
>8. OPTIONAL: Use Snap seeds/Confetti if you want further cheese
Congratulations boss should be at like 1/4 health and almost full posture now, if you can't beat her at this point then the only tip I can give you is to get gud.
Lorefags thread when?
The guy on the right kicked my ass but the one on the left was manageable on the first try. I beat Butterfly on my second try before I managed the Ogre on my tenth
How fucked am I?
Also there's this one immortal thing that keeps shitting out grasshoppers. Every time I "kill it" it keeps reviving. Can you not kill it or do I need to do something? It's the area with all the monks.
>shadowfall
>uses emblems
>doesn't give you posture
Nah.
Where does that merchant go afterwards? His dialogue said he's heading for Senpou temple but I scoured every nook and cranny there and never found him again.
Sekiro is my first game from FromSoftware and im really enjoying it, I keep getting destroyed by the sumo and the horseman, any tips?
I wanted to practice parrying with him but I got so frustrated I killed him the other way. I don't think I'll ever understand how the parrying works.
no dude, you literally get keys and texts scrawled down for your tiny brain to read. that info is literally in your inventory
enjoy ADHD
>I haven't used a single skill
>they all seem slow
how the fuck would you know that if you haven't used them? they're great
it uses two emblems, stuns and does ridiculous damage
>doesn't give you posture
git gud
Shadowrush is great as a gap closer and enemies will almost never block or parry it so you can get free damage in. It is amazing. I'm currently working towards Shadowfall but I'll need to unlock like half of the whole Senpou skill tree just to get High Monk. Glad to know it's good at least,
Anyone else missed the flame prosthetic and didn't have it the the entire playthrough?
You'll get the means to deal with those guys later.
Nah sometimes he thrusts during the 2nd bar as well. I died a couple of times while jumping anticipating a sweep and the fucker thrusts instead
You need a special tool yeah
>Dodging = bar goes down
Again not if you continuously attack, the lower health also means their posture bar won't recover quick.
It's easy, I also beat him with dodges first but in a later run I beat him with parries, as soon as you see his sword glint just parry twice as fast as you can, you should parry both strikes cleanly.
If you haven't already mind controlled the dwarf right at the begining of the level to raise the kite for you, he'll be lurking round there to tell you to do that, if you have he'll be over the otherside after swinging on the kite.
No it doesn't. Frame perfect stuff is a lot less difficult than you expect. So long as you get "close enough" to picture making it you'll find the motivation to continue.
The key is to look for the sword sparkling. It's the tell you need to notice in order to parry the Iaido strikes correctly.
>oh these candies seem usefull, i'll save them for a boss!
>never fucking use them no matter how hard i get stuck
i'v literally not used a single one yet
You will get the thing that allows you to truly kill them when you progress further in Senpou Temple.
>redditors dont know how to cope
How does it waste your time? You just grapple on the trees and then jump on the real monk when she appears. It takes like 10 seconds.
He does it mostly when you get posture broken so it might seem like a grab but it's totally Blockable
Just use Nightjar Slash, she can't do shit against it.
When we actually have everything in front of us, and then trace it back to Jap shit.
Snap seed is only useful against the corrupted monk's illusion (it damages her a lot and also stuns her).
Damage buff is good against headless and shichimen warriors because you want to unga bunga them quick to dispel the slowing mists and floating balls respectively.
Stealth buff is good if you want to stealth kill certain bosses or strong enemies.
>divine confetti
And even then, only in the beginning if you want to kill the first headless with the handful you can get early. Late and endgame you can buy infinite amounts for 300
Damn, thanks. I was using it to heal myself up since it never dies completely and I have that one skill that refills your HP with death blows. I'm just lost so I wanted to kill everything while searching and this guy never completely died.
You can miss Lady Butterfly entirely. Ogre isn't difficult but he sometimes made those 360 bullshit tracking grabs/ kicks.
They have cool animations, so I used them once each.
I just deflect all of them while being bored. it's just the same monk, but you can't do damage to it yet
Maybe you need a quest marker? :^)
>Third phase
Third phase is easy as shit because he never guards or parries in it, so you get a solid 3 hits in whenever you dodge it party instead of just 1
If you can pull off a lightning redirect it does so much posture damage that's basically the end of Genichiros third phase.
i'm so sad i finished his 2nd phase first try, too quick to even return a single lightning strike.
He's actually the easiest (in theory) enemy to parry because he has the little sparkle that tells you exactly when to parry like Furi
That's on you if you want to parry the entire time instead of skipping out on the phase entirely. They give you grapple points for a reason, if you choose not to exploit that then you have no reason to complain.
Fuck grappling in this game it hurts sekiros neck always looking up at the sky
I’ve missed so much shit because of the verticality
How the duck do you even get to the top of Ashina Castle?
Yeah I thought I timed it well but I kept get one shotted.
>instead of skipping out on the phase entirely
how do you do that? I thought the grapple points were for dodging them. I thought you just had to wait the phase out
Holy shit I didn't even think about using that, I just figured not being killable was their gimmick and you just had to avoid them/grab stuff while they're down. Then I didn't really care about them after getting the thing that kills the undying
I just wish the game wouldn't tell you that you need to step dodge against her.
You could dodge him?
I just triple repel'd into double ichimoji and I'm not even good..
Third act was a little meh if I'm being honest
Is black hat badgers quest over once you get him to his kid’s grave? I got him there hours ago and he kept saying he’d head back to Ashina castle but I can’t find him and it’s night time now and one of the items I never bought from him is at the shrine now
They're both rather easy, for the drunkard just make sure you kill the adds before trying everything, just run around killing everyone while having the boss locked on so you know what he's doing at all times, you're able to enter the building at the left of the boss arena to stealth kill one of the adds before the fight. When the boss is alone you can talk to the npc on the edge of the lake so he can help you out.
The boss' attacks are slow, so make sure you delay your parries, he also has a grab attack I believe? But he has an easy tell (does some sumo posing shit) so you should be able to see it coming, learn how to jump over his spinning attack.
Rooftops
I ended up restarting after 15 hours because I accidentally killed two separate NPCs (I know, I know)... but, I spent the whole second run putting off this fight because she’d killed me once and everyone kept talking about how hard she was. Ended up getting her on my second try. Now Genichiro... he wiped away any illusions of pride I may have had.
>When you actually meat Lady Butterfly
You could dodge pretty much everything.
In his first bar the only thing to really watch out for is when he throws his fireworks at you. Jump back from the fireworks and watch his movement before it explodes. If his hand is in his coat he's about to throw a shuriken + chasing slash, if one leg is up then he's gonna thrust. The rest of his moveset is pretty similar to his fight at the castle.
In the second phase if he disappears always haul ass away from the spirit owl. When the owl is on fire, jump when you see the red kanji and mikiri counter his followup thrust.
Yes he's probably the most similar fight
Same here, I'm taking it one step at a time. I want to consistently get the first death blow without using any healing gourds.
He goes back when invasion
i feel you user
happend to me soulsbourne aswell
the Ashina Elite is one of the easiest bosses in the game, parrying his regular attack drains like 80% of his posture
yesterday died like 20 times to Genishiro, today beat his ass on the second try
Finally i killed that shitty faggot
Did you parry her or dodge/sprint/nightjar slash her? If you can beat her legitimately, you can beat any boss in this game.
He's the best and most honest fight in the game though.
Only the shame of disrespecting your Lord by insinuating that your precious bond of fealty to him is not enough
When she disappears, grapple onto one of the trees and you should see her real form appear stationary below after a few seconds and you'll be able to do a jumping deathblow. I think her illusions can hit you on the trees, but once you get the timing for it, you won't have an issue anymore.
this desu, I wish it was like Nioh where you could get consumables that refresh at bonfires
I managed to kill him by stunlocking with the axe on the third phase, depleted almost all his posture at once
Extreme luck desu
I don't like the consumables in this game, they're poor substitutions for RPG effects that the other games had (for example items that reduce damage from status effects where in other games you could just change your attire). Most are kind of unnecessary
Going through Sekiro threads and talking to friends that play the game it's very clear that there are players relying on deflect and players relying on dodging. Each playstyle has their own bosses that are hell.
This. The Ashina elite right before you find the little lord is a much better deflect tutorial than anything that comes before it, and that fight doesn’t happen until at least 6-7+ hours in. Not sure if From’s intentionally fucking with people or just didn’t realize how hard the souls muscle memory would hit.
mission complete boys, time to go home
My biggest problem with them is that I risk taking a hit eating one and then it only lasts like 10 seconds. It's just not worth it. Now if it was a full minute that would be useful.
>Just beat monkey trouble on my second time after realizing that you could somehow parry a huge ape.
I guess i'm better at video games than most of Yea Forums.
I had no idea, thanks
Is it possible to fight the double apes before the single ape in gun fort?
Those types of runs are for multiple playthroughs. It’s fun to beg, borrow, and steal your way through a challenging game the first time through.
>press circle
hold it, and jump backwards literally the whole fight, and if that nigga red kanjis fucking jump on him
No
Nope. If you go to where the lmao2ape fight is before that it's just an empty room.
No. I missed them on my run because of this.
Definitely deflected much more on the second run because I understood that the game wanted me to engage in glorious chanbara rather than circle strafing. That said, I still dodged and jumped a few times out of sheer panic and it didn’t doom me or anything.
>Yea Forums
Weird to compare yourself to the board dedicated to anime and not video games but okay.
SS Isshin was a fantastic fight. Love how he pulls his gun out at you.
Is this also for the real fight? I beat the apparition using this method, but I haven't fought the real Corrupted Monk yet.
You can parry nearly everything that doesn't have one of the red symbols above your head appear, and you can also parry some of those like the big ass snake
I assume you mean that parrying is the legit method?
>tfw you couldn't save him
It's fine. Died peacefully to O'Rin's tune.
>tfw you realize you're the reason he died and that you also cockblocked him
I'm sorry melody bro
This. By the time I got to him, it felt tough, but I understood exactly what was going on the entire time. Plus, the context makes the fight pure kino. I miss fashionsouls as much as the next guy, but I gotta say, I feel much more motivated by the plot and characters in Sekiro.
More tfw you couldn't put O'Rin at peace. I avoided killing her for ages hoping to find out what she wants to know.
I’ve been on these rooftops for days. Can’t get any higher
Games not even hard now just convoluted to progress and all the areas look the same! Grumble grumble
Well damn. Now I gotta restart.
I found real version easier because at that point you have way more health and deal more damage, so I fought her fair and square, you can also get 2 stealth kills on her if you want to cheese her.
What happens if you lure him into the dungeon? The surgeon captures him or something? I'm gonna help him out next time, this time I just sent him to the village, and also sent Kotaro to the monkey palace so I wasn't able to do the merchant quest or the surgeon quest.
Also I just got the rice for Kuro from Rice loli, but I'm at endgame already (fighting Saint Blade), am I going to be able to give the rice to Kuro this run?
Is it possible to defeat Genichiro in the tutorial? I'm sure we all got 1shot because we didn't know what we were doing but you should be able to win the game right there if you ask me.
She is at peace when you kill her and Melody Samurai is near her. They go together to the afterlife.
Definitely you will need to jump and dodge some to avoid certain attacks, but she exists to teach you parry timing and posture management- both your own and hers. Learn Genichiro's attacks and get aggressive. I would say his parry timings are easier than Lady Butterfly's. If you can get her, you've got Genichiro.
>he hasn't read Japanese folktales
If you EVER see a woman playing an instrument, it's bad news. Even if she's appeased she still kills you anyway. Legit the only way to escape is to give her an absolutely nonsense answer to confuse her while you make your escape.
>Isshin says the Ashida style he developed has no hard set rules, just doing everything to win the fight at the end of the day
>His SS fight perfectly reflects that attitude
>tfw I saved him by sending him to the fun dungeon and turned him into an unholy monster
The bull was a really dumb fight, it kept getting stuck at corners and I just kept slashing his butt until it died.
I get it with firecrackers and shuriken, but I wish you could integrate melee and defensive tools into your move set without expending ammo.
>tfw the two guards rushing in after the bull gave me a slight bit more difficulty than the bull itself
It must be the fire that scares people into fucking up against the bull? I mean, IDK what else it could be...
Yes but the Ashina elite seems designed to force parries. His double slash is absolute hell, but he’s one of the first mini bosses I was able to deathblow to victory without ever lowering his actual health. I just had to force myself to double tap L1 when his sword glimmered and give up on dodging altogether. He almost never uses his unblockable attack if you keep the parry pressure on.
I hear you get a different cutscene for losing your arm if you do beat him
based
sent him straight to the klansman in the dungeon

Honor restored
Yeah, brings out a fucking spear, gun, eventually lightning. It's even reflected in his lore, the guy only lived for war.
>the shield's parry window is so big it gets a deflection on both of his strikes and does half his posture threshold
>killed him in like 10 seconds because he did two right after each other
lmao
Thanks, shinobi-bro.
Yeah, a shuriken comes flying out of nowhere and gen takes your arm while you parry it
This one feels the most like an out of place souls boss. Seems to conflict with what the game has been teaching you, but once you realize you can sprint along his ass the whole fight it turns into a joke.
What the fuck who would do that?
>tfw beat Butterfly first try and I don't get the issue people have with her
This nig is a nightmare tho
I... never thought to use the shield. That’s smart. Thanks user.
you saying you can parry with the umbrella?
Do you get anything special? In DeS/DaS you'd get a neat little bonus for beating the tutorial boss.
>Do it!
Because he's a salty bitch that's okay with throwing away honor for the sake of victory
Centipede was so easy, just spammed L1
The shield is bar none the best tool in the game. The window for perfect parry exists for the whole animation of it coming out. It legitimately turns the game into easy mode.
Might as well as here: I'm a complete noob to From's games but I want to play Bloodborne and Sekiro.
I've played through Bayonetta a couple of times, finished all DMC games (on normal except 3 on hard) and MGR up to Revengeance mode. How much will these games kick my ass? Pls no bully.
Why exactly do we even fight Isshin? He's already reborn and ready to take back Ashina by that point. Not our concern and he doesn't need Kuro.
>Seems to conflict with what the game has been teaching you
I think it brings up a decent alternative point in that sure you're supposed to parry most things and posture break them, but when in doubt go ahead and sprint to dodge and slash that fucker's ass.
>out of place souls boss
It seemed like the total opposite to me. Just the fact that it's virtually all sprinting and not just waiting to dodge the charge like a matador makes it so different from souls bosses. It actually had me expecting even greater boss variety than the game ended up having
Did you fight her early on or after Genchiro and other bosses? I fought her after Genchiro and others while a lot of others may fight her before other bosses so they are not as experienced or well equip for the fight.
I didn't beat her the first try but she was hell of a lot easier than a lot of the other bosses for me. Genchiro gave me absolute hell.
From the front door, turn right, go up to the rooftops. Front roof of main building behind you, forward, down right, window is open go inside.
Around the corner from the WOOOOO guy there's an open window you can grapple into. Proceed to go up from inside the castle
Honestly you'll have an easier time with Sekiro than someone who played a lot of Souls games. Half of the difficulty comes from unlearning everything you learned in Souls. Approaching it fresh should let you immediately take to the systems.
I think you’ll love them. They’re a lot slower than Bayonetta and DMC and the enemies hit harder. Harder than devil may cry at least. But once you get the rhythm down, you’ll be solid.
>ogre
Really easy fight, especially considering the fact that it's really similar to souls bosses. Just dodge to your right and be wary od the attack tells and you should be fine.
>Butterfly
Great fight, only becomes difficult due to how early you normally fight her ans therefore this one becomes an endurance fight. The illusions can catch you off and the posture attacks can be tricky, but this fight teaches you that deflecting is tje proper way to play this.
> But butterfly was easier than any of the minibosses
You got lucky, I know this because I almost beat her on my first life. Got her down to 10% health or so then fucked up. After that I started experiencing all sorts of wonky box issues. She gives u a lot of space to breathe but her 1 shot homing grab is all sorts of fucked. Worse than any webm anyone has posted on Yea Forums so far. I've dodged half way across the width of the map out of it and still get sucked in. It's so bad I'm beginning to suspects it's a driver issue or something.
