OUTWARD

OUTWARD

so, in order to gain mana and use magi I need to go to that fucking mountain
but how am I supposed to get there if I get gangraped by bandits along the road?

ffs

Attached: gz4Xu4p4T63N7thqP9AKcU.jpg (1920x1080, 1.22M)

Have you tried not letting the bandits gangrape you?
Have you tried setting up traps with tripwires and luring them into them? Have you tried kiting with a bow?
Have you tried luring bandits into hyenas?

no, but these all sound like good ideas
thank you for the suggestions

Nothing in the first zone (besides black chickens) actually runs fast enough to keep up with you.
You can just ignore fights and run straight to it.
Also you'll want to do the same inside the mountain because the trogs are complete cunts.

why am I constantly bleeding, and I need bandages?

also, where is that cave for that initial fungus quest?
sorry for all these questions, I really like this game but it's not very intuitive

Attached: buster-scruggs.jpg (700x378, 106K)

They literally give you the direction to the cave TWICE
also you could just help the guy who is sitting onna beach just south of the town and skip the part where you need to earn 150 bucks

when you exit the town head north and cling to the west, you'll find a place called blistering cave.
taking too much damage from a hit or falling too far can cause some manner of injury that causes light bleeding that gets worse the more damage you take.

I grabbed it on the high seas and can't wait to try and play it with the gf. She'll probably be buttmad superfast though.

Wendigo can catch you

I already cleared the debt, I just need direction

and for that guy, he was dead so fuck him

could it also be I'm walking barefoot?

So what's the verdict so far? I'vbe heard the combat is shit and mixed things on the survival, like it can be tedious as fuck but at the same time fun and rewarding if you just stick to surviving and avoid combat most of the time.

Also, is magic OP as fuck since they make the players go out of their way just to have the ability to do magic? If it still winds up being difficult/worthless I don't see why people would want to go out of their way to get magic powers.

It's bare, mediocre, and janky as hell. The only reason it gained traction is because the developer has been unironically shilling on Yea Forums and reddit.

Well?

It's a low quality two worlds two clone that only managed to do magic correctly.

Magic is pretty weak initially, spark without a sigil is basically just a point blank stun, each sigil upgrades it into a projectile and all 3 can fire at once if you overlap.
Boons and infuse are fucking strong
The kazite spellblade skill that lets you launch elemental projectiles from infused weapons is insanely good.
Runecasting can set up traps, summon swords and heal itself.
Desert has a trainer that teaches you how to use mana to suck enemy blood into your gun, healing yourself and loading a free bullet.

From the last thread.

Rune Magic combinations
>Rune Sword: Shim, Egoth
>Rune Greatsword: Shim, Egoth, Shim, Egoth
>Rune Mine: Shim, Fal
>Runic Protection: Dez, Egoth
>Runic Lantern: Fal, Dez
>Lightning Bolt: Fal, Shim (only while Runic Lantern is active)

>all 3 can fire at once if you overlap
Are you serious? Holy shit

Who cares lol, just play BOTW

Nah

Attached: Nah.png (496x508, 159K)

I cleared that troglodytes cave, man that was fun
now I feel like I understand a little more about this game

so, when is a good point to head over that mountain and gain some sweet mana?

whenever you have the balls to

Pack your bags and set out as soon as you can.

Not him but you're really obvious about it

Isn't it funny how every game that signs a certain contract with a certain entity gets conspicuously pushed on Yea Forums

Attached: 1549121160905.jpg (500x373, 17K)

Name this entity for us newfags please.

Just shut up already.

There's one thread up at a time that barely gains any traction. Instead of screaming autistically that any attempt to make a thread about any game that isn't AAA is devs shilling why don't you tackle the million fucking sekiro threads on the board because there's at least 5 up at any given time.
But god forbid actual people on this board make a thread about a game that released like 4 days ago without being called the devs themselves

Attached: 1511642649699.jpg (746x691, 81K)

Can you play the pirated version online?

I'm OP, just fuck you man

Ok, wish me luck guys
I hope I'll do it alright

Okay shills

Do you enjoy being a militant faggot? This isn't the first time you've posted screaming that outward threads are shills, while using that exact same reaction image.
Fuck off autist. It's one thread where people want to talk about a video game. Go call out the shilling in sekiro or smash threads.

Aren't we the developers?
Get it together

Attached: 1447334859334.png (598x564, 394K)

Should I get mana if I just want to beat people with a stick?

Holy fucking shit why are all the customization options nothing but apes with progeria.

Attached: 1523712962567.png (311x278, 169K)

Does split screen co op on steam work pretty well with controllers? Or is keyboard the way to go?

until they make the ui, player 2 is forced onto controller. They posted about that recently. Just so you know.

How gimped is controller play? Probably would both be using it.

It's depressingly mediocre, but a year of patching and one or two expansions could make it good, even great.

Too bad it won't sell enough to pay for those.

God I want to drink her clean water

>suck enemy blood into your gun
We gunwizard boys

where's the faggy red mage merchant's hidden treasure?

>Also you'll want to do the same inside the mountain because the trogs are complete cunts.

Huh. I took the Holy Mission path and met some paladin inside. After talking to him he made some comment about watching my back before ducking into the dungeon and proceeded to agro everything for me. I responded by ducking behind the trogs and backstabbing them continuously with my spear until they all died. I then kited every remaining mob to the paladin to kill.

Was pretty straightforward.

I think you only get 8 quick slots either way, so probably not at all.

South east edge of the map. Go south from where you exit to the forest.

I dont think the flashing bandage icon means your bleeding. As my health was stable while it was flashing (albeit low) and nothing showed up in my character status.

I don't know, can you get infections from not bandaging a wound or something?

Its not gimped at all. feels much better to play on controller imo.

That sounds neat. I went Blue Chamber path, and its a bit of a maze, but you just follow the blue skulls to get where you're going. Trogs aren't that bad, there's only a couple along the way, but you have to fight a group at the end. You can use traps or just run by and come back when you have magic. The shaman drops a cool looking staff.

The combat has honestly warmed on m since getting a spear. Excited about spells too.

Im having a lot of fun with the game, I'd dull say its worth closer to $30 though and not $40. I wouldn't buy it unless you felt like you are willing to pass up $10 basically.

>Outward at best has one thread on catalog only on murican afternoon
>Meanwhile sekiro and dmc gets 4-5 thread at the catalog all the time
Man I just want to talk about vidya I recently played

Maybe its just suggesting you use bandages, since they heal you? Its pretty obvious when you're bleeding because you lose health constantly and there's a big red blood icon.

>trogg cave
>fungus shield
>neat but dont use shields
>sell it
>later get quest for shield
woops

The staff can be recycled for loads of mana stone, just figured it out myself a few minutes ago

I don't understand why no one on Yea Forums cares about this game, I know its jank as fuck and hard to get into, but there's something about it.

A comrade and I are interested in this game; how good/stable is its coop and how much of a burden is the eating mechanic?

Oh shit, I guess that makes sense, its got a bunch of crystals sticking out of it. I think I'll do that and just go sword/lantern in the meantime for that flamethrower.

the main issue my friend and I had with co-op is if we died he would have his bag nearby and I (joined his game) would have to return to where we were to get mine.

Also food is abundant if you dont straight up forget it.

I see; thanks.

You might want to wait for a patch or two, there's a pretty serious bug right now where things will randomly disappear from your pack when you exit and reload the game. You can get around it, but if you're not mindful you can lose tons of shit. There's also a bug where I think the second player will sometimes lose their bag entirely on death.

We had planned to wait for it to go on a sale first so waiting is an option.

anything to do with the paper if you already paid the debt other than sell it for 40 shmeckles?

it is just as likely that he is a shill for one of the larger games and is literally trying to slide any competition threads off the front page/catalogue.

anyway this game is very similar in its shitty janky but FUN comfy feel to gothic. I saw a bunch of dumb shit like "oh its morrowind and dark souls and blah blah and this epic thing and that epic game"

nah its just nu-gothic with a focus on survival and crafting. Especially with how every safe place is like 30 minutes of real time travel away from eachother.

Eurojank is Eurojank

Game kind of has a weak start IMO and adding a timed quest as the first quest doesn't seem to be the best even if it's easy to do as long as you're paying attention. I think it was about an hour until I could finally go travel without worrying about anything.

Overall though the game is pretty fun once things getting rolling. Even dying can be funny.
>Low health
>Walk across bridge
>Booby trap kills me
>Wake up in bandit camp
>It's dark and I can't see shit
>Try and sneak around
>Get 1 shot by a bandit
>Wake up in a new camp
>My bag is there
>There's better weapons and items in the chest neaeby

>do I join the cultists the communists or the glorious heroic kingdom?
What a hard choice.

I always get fucking bit every time i go for the kick. Better just to keep them at the tippy of my spear/dragonslayer

[INDIGESTION]

yowch dude should have talked to everyone ya fuckin nutter. IIRC she gives you 70 coins which is pretty nice but you'll make it soon enough.

I REALLY wish the game had a fail state or something worse than "wake up in bandit camp with all of your shit RIGHT next to you". Otherwise I really like this system. Just... wanna actually have a reason not to die other than the most mild inconvenience and loading screens. Feels like I'm playing on baby mode or something.

It takes a while to get into it. I kind of hated it at first, but I'm really starting to like it the more I play. The combat is very weird, like a really stiff Souls game, but its serviceable once you get used to it.

From what I've seen of magic, it requires the most setup, but also has the biggest payoff. I don't think the game is really trying to be balanced between playstyles, its more that they reward you for planning things out. From what I can tell you can be successful as a mage, rogue, or warrior, but each playstyle has a certain amount of planning and preparation, and the more of it you do the more successful you'll be.

So if you want to be a warrior, you'll get your shit pushed in if you try powering through with shitty starting equipment. But if you take the time to acquire descent gear (either by crafting, purchasing it, or finding it), acquire the right passives and active skills, and prepare for your fights by stacking food buffs on yourself, you'll do fine.

I just got to (((berg))), the runes worth picking up?

how unreadable do the menus get in splitscreen?

survival is done really well. not a burden. you are heavily incentivized to eat for heals and buffs. You will probably only ever become seriously hungry or thirsty if you die or if you are contract a lot of statuses

I really dislike the blue path's whole shtick but I'm very curious about whatever mystery rynn is hiding

I like the death system, I think the idea is to push the philosophy of making the most out of failure. I do think that its too exploitable once you understand how it works though. I'd like it if maybe your situation got more dire the more times you die in quick succession or something. I think an outright fail state would undermine what they're going for.

The cultists obviously. Heroic Kingdom is the normalfag choice.

is this game worth 40 dollarydoos?

Its worth $20 or $30. I'd probably wait for a sale unless you really think you'll like it.

What's with the other faction-related paths into the mountain?

>trying to test bandits taking stuff
>roll test character
>go out naked with nothing but a trog gig
>watch bandits literally obliterate two hyenas
>go in swinging, fully expecting to get captured like in my very first game
>didn't die
>welp

I'd like to think I'm not completely ass at this game.

also OP, try dying in a different part of the map. I've woken up on purple mountain 3 times in my main game.

not even worth pirating

camping MY backtrail for weeks? REEEEEE

>tfw I really like it
probably because I'm too much of a scrub for dark soles

also I used the money I saved on a 4chamel pass to pay for this game

how do I rag life melee?

It's alright user, I don't regret my purchase either. It scratches a really specific itch no other current games do.

who /spear/ here?

I legit felt I should just play dragon's dogma after playing outward for hours

I just feel like I should lose some of my gear, maybe contract a more permanent disease or infection, or a more permanent burn on your health/stamina. There should be some sort of consequence to it. As it stands there is either none to very little if you get a bad death and even a boon if you get a positive and wake up some weirdos note and cool health drink.

once it clicks it clicks. First few times I died I thought "how in the fuck am I supposed to survive" and then I made a new char and destroyed the trog cave right away and shortly after cleared the bandit camp right next to it.

I have no clue how to take on pistol shrimp though. Guess bow strafing but they scare me too much.

yeah it really hits the right spots. I can see there are problems with it but more than that I see a LOT of potential. I hope they released the game with continuing development in mind. Its not "early access" but it doesn't quite feel "finished" yet either. I probably need to play more tho

spear is easy mode

>pistol shrimp
bow strafing sucked, they fire too fast and dodging while using the bow sucks ass. they are ridiculously easy to sneak on, sneak up to tail, hammer skill, then just keep wacking/strafing in melee range and hope they don't get off more than one point blank face cannon

Is the blue sand armor worth it or not? I'm rolling trader gear for the pockets right now but I've got enough sand for the armor, boots or helmet.

>tfw still haven't dropped plague doctor speedy hat

Attached: 20190329190749_1.jpg (1920x1200, 752K)

get out of the starting town you pussy

I've heard middling reviews on this game.

Should I wait for a sale before buying? Or is really worth the full price?

Attached: 1518898879070.jpg (800x600, 266K)

so few games where spears are even present much less extremely op. Maces are my next choice though, or anything with high impact. Very funny to hit something so hard it gets confused and falls on its ass.

I suppose I could stack traps and take em that way. They just scare me because I cant figure out their detection range at all. Seems like I can run right by them sometimes and others they'll slowly track me forever.

On my first "rough draft" character I got I guess a rare drop from one of the birds that was a weird bird mask that gave speed bonus and stam bonus. Wish I could layer it with a helm because by itself its nigh worthless especially when winter comes

wait. don't mind us

Im lovin this game but I like jank shit, exploring things is always tense, from not knowing the enemy and how dark these locations can be. So far my favorite interaction was.
>see some smoke coming beneath a cliff
>turns out its a little pirate hideout, cool!
>instantly see green glowing pirate
>put some spectral juice on my sword thinking it would do anything
>kills me instantly
>bandits find body and take me back
>BUT, because im sick (with a cold) I end up puking from the walk they sent me on
>turns out they dont want sick prisoners
>leave me outside the bandit camp with all my gear on
fuckin wild

where is the fucking cave located
I want that free adventurer bag

Is this worth playing if my internet is garbage and I dont plan on using multiplayer?
