LOL Cuphead's run and gun stages were half-assed afterthoughts thrown together at the last minute because when the game was first announced as being a collection of boss fights and nothing else the response was mixed so they churned those out and said "SEE WE HAVE LEVELS THAT AREN'T BOSSES LOOK!".
