Paladins could tank, dps, or heal in 5man pre 60 dungeons. Spec didn't really matter in 5mans. At 60, they wore cloth and healed. Spec didnt really matter because no one could see what specs were. All they did spam flash of light and that aggro reducing buff. Ret pallies could do dps but everyone hated you

Paladins, like druids, are all played by turbo autistic faggots who pick tribrid classes but demand to only dps. They couldnt tank in raids because of crushing blows.

Even ignoring some obvious reasons, like the server is blatantly corrupt and has a history of literally selling gold to chinese goldsellers (who then resell it), selling ranked characters, unbans, etc. its still a bad idea.
Leveling is part of the fun in vanilla and its a substantial time investment. The burn out can be very real, not everyone is cut out to level to 60 over and over and over again. You're essentially trading in a washed out parody instead of waiting for the more authentic experience in a few months.
Beyond the initial rush, the server won't be very popular. Those particular devs have a very bad reputation in the pserver scene. You'll be mainly playing with russians and chinese (so in a way, much like all vanilla servers after this summer).
If your intention is to "practice" leveling (this is a meme btw), you can do that on any other server.
If your intention is to try out classes, see how they operate and how you dig them, know that this only really applies to a lot of abilities you get later on which goes against the point of "avoiding leveling". You can try out max rank characters on an instant 60 server. Retrowow would work for this, or even the kronos PTR server.

Elysium is a very bad idea. Honestly any vanilla server at the moment is a bad idea. Northdale is 80% chinese and just as corrupt as Elysium, and Kronos is a raidlogging server with much lower pop than northdale.
The "magic" is having fun, making friends, and this just isn't that possible in the current available servers.

Why are none of you talking about the latest blue post, which is technically, even more important than the fucking previous one about loot trading? The fact that Classic Team, has made spell batching, like Classic. I can't even go into detail to tell you how insane that is. They truly care. This is something TRUE HARDCORE VANILLA NO changes people ACCEPTED they wouldn't go near, but they've actually gone and put in Classic spell batching. This, TECHNICALLY, confirms no changes. If the next blue post is about sharding, and they confirm it to be just on the starting zones and let us not worry, then they truly have, some how, the moons have aligned, and we're truly going home to a genuine classic experience. Once again, I can't stress enough how insane to detail it is to put classic spell batching in, and this was not an easy task, at all. This also means a lot less stress on the servers and will be amazing for world pvp giant battles.

Vanilla does have a lot of issues, I am not saying it is a perfect game, I do not think anyone would disagree with that fact, but it still is more fun than pretty much anything actual WoW has.

Classic team has been making a lot of good decisions lately, some of which were adjusting their previous stance on things such as content phases. I wouldn't give up on old AV just yet.

It’s literally just Diablo 3 but somehow even more mindless. They’ve even removed stats and weapons from your character. Your characters now only get one stat (strength for warriors, intellect for mages, agility for rogues, ect) and one weapon (they’re called Artifact weapons and you’ll never need to change them while leveling) Took me about 4 hours to level a character from 90-120 during the free weekend and it was so mind numbingly boring.

If they do TBC servers, they'd 100% still keep the Classic ones, so you wouldn't have a time-limit.

user, actiblizz are a multibillion dollar company. I can assure you, if Classic succeeds, they won't focus on that anymore, but deep down, you know that.

What are peoples expectations for classic playerbase on launch, after 3 months and after 6 months. For comparison retail is about 1.5 million at the moment. I personally expect to hit about 8 million on release, have a massive drop at the 3 month mark to around 2 million and stabilize around 1-1.5 million at the 6 month mark.
People without nostalgia for vanilla will play into the hype and quit almost instantly while endlessly moaning about the game on here and reddit

One of the questions was 'Would you support post naxx content/classic expansions?'.
So, probably that. New raids and battlegrounds without increasing the level cap or adding new spells.

Imo rogue, druid, and warlock are good picks. Rogues dont rely much on gear, and you can stealth farm. Druid gear is really easy to obtain solo and same as rogue you can stealth farm. Warlock also doesnt rely on much gear and the gear it does rely on can be obtained pretty easily (that one cloth set from recipe thats BIS, i forget)

Theres lots of fun stuff to do in your down time as those classes too. stealth gank lowbies, or unleash infernals/doomguards on lowbies. etc

Rogues and mages at least are good for alts, you can easily fund your main. Whatever you decide on. Warlocks are nice cause free mount. Soul shard farming and trading a million healthstones is a small price to pay considering your rotation is spam shadowbolt. Sometimes.

Tauren was only good before the attack range change in BC/Wrath.

It used to be that attack range scaled with player size so as a tauren you could hit people from farther away, essentially.

Tauren are not bad at all. Stop listening to minmaxers, passive racials are negligible and every active racial is pretty much always good. War Stomp is quite nice for melee classes especially.

The only correct answer is undead rogue. #1 PvP class, best racials, coolest character art / tier'd armor. Least stressful raiding job, can solo loads of content when you want to be an introvert timid gamer, can out gold farm everyone if you know the exact routes / have the top gear. (Otherwise mage and hunter outfarm you early game / early server life but gold is more important later on than early honestly.) Your gear grind and gear acquisition is fairly easy (Only beat by priests pretending to be girl gamers. Harder to do in this day and age.) and you can still do well even in garbage gear. You will have the easiest time with PvE as most people won't fuck with rogues, and if you want you'll always be able to relocate if a guild zergs you down. LEAST DOWNTIME (with cannibalize.) and best mobility sans portals and mounts. Also is alpha as fuck to play melee and to shit on other players. Top the DPS meters (except Rag fight; Frostmages do that.) and have the biggest dick all the girls wanna suck on. Lowest repair bill assuming your vanish doesn't bug. Passive income with lockpick bot to make $$$ while sleeping.

Downsides to other classes:
Warrior - Biggest repair bill, can't solo cetain content, can't farm effectively, is the #1 most populated class, HARDEST TO GEAR and you will need separate gear for ALL SPECS, is really only fun when you reach max gear and have 1-2 healbots. Easiest class to get 5 man groups rolling, as while warriors are plenty, tanks are not. You can easily PvP against shitty rogues but every other class beats you, until you become max geared, then you kill everyone, except actual skilled rogues.

Mage- Have fun being a food, water, and portal cuck to everyone forever. Third worlders gonna constantly open trade window for 'em. DPS is okay and you feel kinda baller when you do murder players with finesse but not as much as a rogue.

Squishiest class, even with shields up. Easy to counter / get shut down. Useless in a 2v1 or more fight unless opponents are tards. Minimal escapes, most fun burst in the game though sans big dick rogue ambush crits VS clothies though. Can shit on most baddies if you're skilled and is middle of the road with other classes. At max gear you're scary but so is everyone else.

Hunter- Easy leveling, gotta micro that pet though. Sleep through raids, can feign death, fun in PvP and world PvP (can see people on mini map.), but have to upkeep ammo and pet feels. Won't get much invites in 5 mans, and you are viewed as the dumbest player. Not enough burst for fun times Rammstein PvP. (New album this May.)

I killed R14 mages in two hits, and unless the rogue is a tard or get PoM pyro one-shotted they mathmatically win every time, though mages are always frost for PvP in which case rogue can blind / gouge / vanish / etc to get hits in assuming it's 1v1. I won't theorycraft duels cause my entire time playing 99% of rogues were terrible.

Ret pally one-shots a rogue, we've seen it. Not 100% of the time and why isn't the paladin stunlocked till forced to bubble then rogue resets the fight and does it all over again?

Paladins are basically invincible in PVP. But also don't output much damage compared to other classes. The only exception is under very specific circumstances like Is that fun? Is that not fun? Only you can decide that.

You basically wear cloth, spam buffs on the raid every 5 mins as all your blessings only last 5 mins and heal the raid. Don't even begin to think Ret is viable

Priest - If you like healbotting roll this. You'll always have a home in raids and groups. For PvP you can have some fun. Mind control can be very lulzy at end-game. (Dunk people in lava, remove expensive buffs, /me to speak to them without need for a 2nd account.) Can't gold farm worth a shit, will need an alpha male tank to carry you for your staff quest, will be forced to healcuck for raids, are usually a PRIMARY target for most players so expect to die a LOT. Very, very boring to play. Not a whole lot to do outside raids and dungeons. Gear upgrades are otherwise easy since 5 mans only need ONE priest.

He kidney's with 1-2 combo points instead of anything else, doesn't gouge out of stun, or blind, or vanish, or anything. He literally skill clicked from his movements.

Yeah every once in a while a ret pally gets lucky but not all the time. People rolled warlock to get BIG crits like that Korean gamer but realized you only crit with max lock gear like once out of 50 casts, and might get one BIG crit a day at best.

I do hope they implement 1.5 AV just so that the people begging for it realize what garbage it is. I don't remember anyone praising AV in vanilla, except for the praise that some changes got. Rogue will have an even easier time, since the lag won't affect the energy regen as much. But casters in general will have an easier time too since they won't be affected by the lag, which gives them a chance to react to any melee moving behind them before the cast finishes.
End game warriors will still face roll everything.

I'd argue moonkin is slightly better because of innervate.
But if I was the guild leader, I wouldn't bring either of them.
Shadow priest without the threat reduction was retarded too. No damage, but them doing both damage and healing gave them insane threat for nothing.
Enhancement shaman had to wait for like 20% of the boss health before they were allowed to hit it. Otherwise they'd pull aggro from all the windfury procs.

I'm kind of disappointed they don't do classic from the release state. Imagine the complaints about only having 5 minutes blessings in 40 man. All you could do was buffing and cleansing. You hardly had time to throw a single heal.

Shaman - Can't solo farm too much stuff that rogues, hunters, and mages can. Easy to get around early game. Always in demand for easy heals. Great for roaming PvP parties for utility. Always welcomed in raids (expect to heal though.), and are generally bros. Totem quests are a PAIN IN THE ASS and are not fun. Will only get so far in PvP. At max gear you heal shittier than a priest / paladin, your DPS is garbo compared to all other dps, and totem management is just another stressful pile of shit. King of that capture the flag game mode pre-mounts though. (Yeah I forgot the name so what.)

Paladin - You can tank, but not super efficiently. You're actually a decent healer, but priests are still better. Your repair bill is turbo expensive, and your gear upgrades are 2nd hardest in the game (Warriors being the hardest.). Also, you're forced to play alliance, which makes this a losing choice. You can't solo any end game stuff really except a few elites assuming you don't pull anything else and you're in full tier 2. An upside is you're the 2nd least fucked-with class when out and about as paladins just take too fucking long to murder. Stuck healcucking in raids, and your DPS is never consistent in dungeons.

Because of that, you couldn't make a spell damage/defense gear mix, since you'd be critted to infinity and beyond. But if you had a end game geared paladin with consecration it was appreciated in 5-man.

You have to wait for the Classic TBC to come out to get your precious Tank / Healing parity among all the hybrids. Then you get to come as lower effective DPS but equal / superior overall raid DPS due to support buffs.

The way god intended, instead of this blasphemous "Oh hey, you can Tank just as good, Heal just as good, and DPS just as good as everyone else so why bother player a class that only can DPS now?" retail shenaniganery.

Rogues literally crashed from higher play rate down to lowest on most servers and Druids / Paladins unironically lord over all player %s alongside huntards. DH is a free 100 so it's impossible to quantify properly.

See, this is the problem. If you're a subpar tank, fuck you get out in a raid. The point of raiding is to be tackling the hardest content possible, and they're going to be balanced around having the "best" tank possible.

The most you can hope to do if you're a subpar tank is some PUB 5 mans as you're leveling, then once you hit max its to the back of the bus with you or learn to heal.

That the price they pay for easy leveling, which isn't inconsequential like in current wow. Warriors being by far the hardest to level but also by far the best tanks was a very deliberate choice. Same with rogues who are top dps yet are the second hardest. I give you mages though, easy leveling and top dps.

Druid- If you really cannot be fucked to play rogue, play this. You get to do ANY of the major roles. Tank, heal, caster dps, or melee DPS. In raids expect to heal unless max geared, than you can feral DPS. You can do most of the stuff rogues can for farming, and if you can dual box or duo farm with another druid you can actually make more money than a rogue solo farming specific raid content. (Not giving away my methods here, maybe on my youtube when the game's out. It's what made me successful in the past.) However, keeping up with three gear sets and all the keybinds you'll need, you'll also be responsible for decurse / poison removal. Rogues have NO responsibility other than the occasional CC or goblin cable vanish battle res. If you want to be more active / useful than a rogue, but less badass and less DPS, less heals than a priest, less caster splosion than a mage, then be a druid. Be one-stop shop for all your desires. If anyone tells you, you can't tank that's bullocks, as I've seen bear druids tank Onyxia plenty of times just fine. Really, really skilled oldfags should honestly be druids as they'll contribute more and feel more involved than a rogue to be honest, but never as badass and feared. Just less combat options but way more sustain assuming you wanna chug mana pots. Fights are over way faster if you're a rogue but maybe you like styling on your enemies harder. Druid is the only class in vanilla I never played to end-game so I really can't tell you too much about it, other than what my friend detailed, who went on to become my arena partner in TBC where we took glad every season. (Though he re-rolled mage for more pew pew.)

Cat mode -> Cat version of ambush -> cat version of sinister strike -> cat version of eviscerate. Oops you got blew up, shift out, war stomp into heal, into travel form, into sweet spot, into bear form, charge, into cat form, continue battle.

The Rogue crash had less to do with hybrids achieving parity and more with Rogues being consistently nerfed over time.
They were PVP gods when it first came out who were very, very favored, and could do insane raid DPS. However, they were also very, very BORING for PVE dps, and that's never changed. So people picked them just to "win" not for how interesting they were.
Once their OPness got taken out you had a viable but boring melee class, and so flavor of the month snowflakes started picking up other classes instead (like warlock)

Warrior tanks literally were the only progression option. Bear druids excelled on certain bosses because of their huge health pool and high armor.
Paladins couldn't get defense, because they'd lack threat.
They couldn't get spell power (the few ones existing on plate), because then you don't have enough defense to tank decently or having healers rip their hair off.

I see this question posted often, and the answer is simple: nothing. We're expecting to become profitable with Classic by Q1 2020. After that, it's going to be pre-planned releases and maintanence until 2021.

We have some major projects coming down the pipe that will be released over the next several years. Some of these are, admittedly, cash grabs that will make D:I seem like the greatest Blizzard release of all time. But, at least two of these games I can promise you will be mind-blowingly fun. We have both sequels and new IPs that are coming out that will draw most of the playerbase of both 'retail' and 'classic' away.

Look at it this way. It'll be mid-2021 before the first hardcore raiding group takes down Kel'Thuzad. Which means it'll be 2022 before we even start getting enough world-kills that people complain about a lack of new content. By then, we'll be more than confident that the remaining playerbase is so small, their concerns will be neglibile.

You're acting like the players will be accomplishing all there is to do by Christmas of this year. When you really think about the content release timeline, the idea of doing 'nothing' makes a lot more sense.

I still remember the "NERF" calls for Bear druids because of how Rag worked.

I had alliance friends and generally they'd have pallies tank dungeons for farm / gearing new members or even Onyxia when stuff like Rag was on farm status.

Oh yeah they definitely cannot maintank if you're pushing content. But if you have the most up to date dungeon on weekly farm you can do the lower tier'd dungeon as a pally no probs, just give a good 5-10 more seconds to stack threat.

I find every class boring for raids cause I find raids boring. Might as well snooze as a hunter or (in early vanilla) afk in stealth as a rogue. Even allies couldn't see you.

Once I started guild mastering I learned that once you got rid of all the girl gamers, dadgamers, old people, gays, trans, general weirdos, and little kids no one fucked up anymore, and everyone became more and more redpilled. All the betas / incels / virgins would leave cause of the "no girls allowed" rule so all that was left was a bunch of based gamers who wanted to get shit done so they could use their raid epics to tear shit up in the actual world, or help others do dungeons and shit.

Two 'sets' of servers

One set of servers stay at 1.12 permanently, the other set of servers start back at 1.2/first stage out of 6-7 and just constantly cycle through the same 6-7 stages.

I've seen a handful of paladins tank ZG and AQ20. The class is not as optimal as warrior at single target, but is way ahead on AoE threat. Considering most of the time spent in raids is clearing trash it isn't a terrible spec to bring at that content level.

May god forbid bear tanks being good for something in raids. I hated vanilla because of all the nerf false flagging.

Yeah, they worked for stuff like that, but as soon as you start hitting AQ40, pallies can't do shit except dying. But pallies in 5-man as I said were nice, if they had high enough gear from 40-man.

Not as a healer, no. I mean, you gain more from spirit when innervate is used on you too. The healing legs are just better for priests, druids and to a certain extent, even paladins.

I never rolled with shamans in my premade PvP teams cause I'd rather have more heals, more DPS, or more crowd control. Why do I give a shit about purging when I can just blow up whatever the fuck we wanted with anything else? Pretty much ran what arenacucks ended up calling "RMP" (Rogue mage priest) variants. Yeah we had warriors for the occasional big dick cooldowns but really back then (Blackwing Lair on farm and pre AQ.) that's all you needed to just lock out the entire enemy pug and farm fast bg's.

I did have one rule that technically allowed girl gamers, old people, kids, and trannies. A don't ask / don't tell rule. Simply put, if no one knew you were a 12 year old, or a girl, then no harm was done. I personally remember when I was 12 playing with some big boi pro gamers and I never revealed my age and all was good. In other communities when I revealed my age I was treated like shit.

Seal of the Crusader was actually better for consistent DPS. Even better when you put talents into it.

I think that's a bit disengenous. Fury warriors with good gear blew paladins out of the water, and paladin DPS was completely reliant on getting free cleave damage. If you were in a fight without a way to cheese cleave, or god FORBID could not use your AOEs due to mechanics or trying to balance out damage on one of the enemies, paladins quickly dropped like a stone.

I look forward to rolling a warrior/mage/ect in this game, but damned, do I hope we get a BC release in a few years. I view that as the "golden" age of wow balance and itemization, plus we got dailies added in.

Hell, I'd almost want them to go back to classic and just start churning out totally new expansions in an "alternate timeline" kind of fashion, so instead of having burning crusade as the expansion after classic, some other direction for things, building off the classic design.

I had a fuckload of fun playing warlock though, but your end-game grind is very difficult. Regardless of popular belief, warlocks can outgrind hunters due to ZERO downtime around level 42 onward unless you have bad pulls.

Even with Sylvanas claiming that the Forsaken navy is completely in shambles after the Legion expansion stuff, she didn't put a single thought into guarding the coast that is literally minutes from the capital? I mean.. come on, the writers or planners or whatever the fuck are just flat-out lazy.

I answered this earlier, but if you play alliance, you'll be on the losing side of battlegrounds constantly, as alliance statistically won like 30-40% of the bg's until all the "pro gamers" in WotLK went alliance for better racials. In vanilla, horde have the best PvE and PvP racials so expect all the streamers / pro gaymurs to roll horde as well. One thing alliance did have going for it, was low / instant queue times, but you'd be thrown into a losing battle.

Alliance also have a problem with attracting:
Little kids- Most children do not have the discipline to be good at video games, devote lots of time to video games, or the freedom to play constantly, meaning they will never have fully geared / developed / decent characters. Most little kids will feign responsibility yet play responsible roles. (Warrior, usually.) Some kids are amazing gamers. I know I was at 12, but we can't all be me.

Dadgamers- You know the ones. 2-3 kids, "dadbod" boomers that have little time to devote to gaming these days. They click their skills while getting drunk off a pack of Keystone. They have very little to offer.

Girl gamers- They are girls. If you do not know why having girls on your team is a bad idea then go play some ranked Overwatch. If you really must know I can explain but it should be obvious.

Single moms- Like the girl gamer + dadgamer, but worse. Has to constantly afk to feed the kid or chat it up with a post-wall blue piller. Has to take ciggy breaks and sex breaks. Generally a waste of a human. The lowest of the low, and will drag you down with her.

Old people - These old timers have shit jobs like managing a McCuckolds or a grocery store. They have so little time to invest they usually just RMT all their stuff. They got to 60 by paying a Chinaman or NEET to do the work for them. 100% clicks their skills and has slow reaction time.
