This would be the biggest waste of time unless there are some QoL improvements and the game actually sees some kind of balance around them unlike in P3P or P4G

Totally new plot taking place alongside Persona 5's. You are not the Phantom Thieves, but rather somebody else operating in the shadows that nobody ever hears about. There will still be asset recycling from Persona 5 out the ass however.

if i recall correctly, p3p only got femc because she had always been planned but they ran out of time to add her to vanilla or fes.
p4g didn't get a femc even though it would have been very easy to make one work compared to p5.
add in the fact that the only thing we've seen of the new girl is her badmouthing the phantom thieves, and it's unlikely that she's fem-joker. either she's marie 2.0, or p5r is a sidequel starring her instead of a p3p/p4g-style rerelease.

it's the Persona version of smt: apocalypse with an entirely new perspective of the events that happened during the original game. People stating its just a port with a new marie type character are new smt and persona fans that have no idea how p4 golden was marketed. The port of p4 was no way teased like this game was and they were very straight forward from the beginning that it was just an updated port. For this game it's being teased twice before a real actual announcement and put heavy emphases on the new character. Now compare this too how smt Apocalypse was teased, it too made it known it's the same timeline put with heavy emphases on the new character. I think really the biggest indicator is from the smash ultimate leaks stating that there is a possible alternative joker character listed with a ponytail and this new girl has it as well with very neutral features which most protags of these games have. If she was to be an alternate version of joker in smash she would need to have very similar powers to joker which spells out protag imo
