why the fuck do they keep doing this
Is the game any good? Or are yoshi games still like discount kirby.
holy shit is that real
>shitty recorder playing
Nintendo is just in on the memes
Reminder Link's Awakening is going to be the same shit.
Whooly World is actually good. Jury's still out on Crafted World.
Is there anything like this in the game?
youtube.com
>people actually falling for this
That fucking can’t be real, it fucking hurts to listen to
Switch gets another exclusive.
Yea Forumstards throw a hissy-fit.
Clockwork.
it's not real retards
youtube.com
Just keep listening
The very first note put this into my head lmao
youtube.com
>8/10 scores across the board
>st-stop having fun! REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I feel like I'm the only person on Yea Forums that likes the style
That’s even worse!
The actual main theme isn't that bad. A definite step down but it's got a bit of charm youtube.com
The music from the trailers or the graphics?
Same here. Holy shit it's even the same exact pitch.
It's not what an ideal Link's Awakening remake would have looked like in my head, but I still think the toy style is cute and could work pretty well. I'll buy it and enjoy it no matter what anyone else says.
Is that a Sony reference? Nintendo confirmed for bros
>5:17 onwards
Wut?
>People falling for the literal "pretending to suck on a recorder" idiot
The soundtrack is still kinda underwhelming though.
not sold on the music in the trailer, but visually I think it looks really nice. Only complaint I have is they need to tone down the blur, although I understand that it's part of the tilt-shift effect they're going for.
fucking jej
Such a shame, the aesthetic to the game is nice, and it controls pretty well from what I played of the demo.
Guess I can just put the music on mute and play some Yoshi's Island/Woolly World tracks in the background...
Its worse than Woolly World but better than Yoshi Island 3DS (not saying much)
Only thing that bothers me is the blurred borders, like what's even the point of that
Nothing, just pointing out the retards who make threads like this.
Nice
Holy shit it's horrible, it's Yoshi's New Island all over again. Who the fuck composed the soundtrack, this dude?
Is this the soundtrack to the doki doki literature club sequel or yoshi?
Doesn’t mean the music can’t br a 0/10 in an 8/10 game
it's called tilt-shift
Holy fucking christ, that ain't real, right? There's no fucking way THAT'S in game music
That's like the most soulless thing I've ever heard in my entire life.
still somehow better than youtube.com
it's not real, but this is
youtube.com
omg this too
What kind of Lego are these?
>hey kids we need you to make some papercrafts to put into our new yoshi game
>okay timmy you’re not allowed near scissors because you’re a special boy so play a few notes on kazoo for us and you can do the music
Okay but I think a reason for an LA remake would be making the game map look bigger than ever
It's a 1:1 remake so don't expect anything changed.
That's honestly not much better. What are they doing here? Are they going for some environmental thing but with instruments? Like, with cans and other junk for the sound effects? I don't understand, why isn't it just like music music like in the first game on SNES?
youtube.com
omg this too
>Hey guys, I know what's a good idea. Let's have my kid who just learned how to play a recorder do the music for this game. You know, because crafted world is obviously a little kid playing with cardboard? It will be the best.
Are Nintendo really this retarded? Did Tabata direct this game?
I got a headache. I hope this is what they were going for so they can torturer anyone who bought the game.
>Yea Forums doesn't understand how patrician this OST really is
Figures, bet not one of you even know about music theory.
youtube.com
Honestly, New Island has SOME nice tracks. Even though they're all remixes of the same main theme.
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
Why does Yoshi keep getting shit soundtracks?
I bet you liked the post modernist RPG too.
It's not, i'm literally playing the game right now
It's a joke by the way retards.
Wait, there's a Metroid Boss in that game?
Is the Sound Director the same guy since YI:DS?
youtube.com
Why wont they fucking fire him!
I don't think there's anything wrong with that style, it is an interesting way to modernize Gameboy games without radically changing the gameplay.
What is complete bullshit is that it will probably be $60 for a 1:1 Gameboy remake. Even $40 bucks is too much for a remake of a single Gameboy game from around 2 decades ago.
NINTENDO
FIRE
THIS
MAN
This could be... okay depending on the atmosphere of the stage, I guess.
Because all Yoshi games are outsourced. Nintendo hasn't made a single Yoshi game in forever ago.
This one was nice.
It isn't, but this is also his first time handling a game soundtrack.
This guy says he likes Yoshi but he's way too autistic to enjoy any of them
>barely even music
>extremely long pauses for no reason
>singular instrumentals with no complexity
I honestly don't even know where to begin here. I was just starting to get interested in the series again with 3D aiming and the game being 2.5D, but this music is terrible and feels incomplete. Should I still look into getting the game?
If you played the demo and liked it then yes. If not then I would say maybe wait for a sale. This is like Yoshi's Story but with way more collecting
Shitting on New Islands OST is the only sort of fun I could get out of the game and I guess it won't be different with Crafted World
Tearaway actually had unlockable papercraft plans of characters and enemies from the game, you download them from the companion site and print them out. Pretty neat idea desu
What happened to the Woolly World composer?
but the actual music sounds like this
youtu.be
i was hoping the next yoshi game would be a mario styled adventure like the first one. none of this gimmick shit, and literal kiddie cardboard graphics
This is what the haunted stages look like.
Tiarawhy
Ftfy
They were on the right direction with Wooly World. What the hell happened?
youtube.com
left the company
Is this a cases where "How did we go from this to THIS" can be used unironically?
youtu.be
But user, you loved paper Mario didn't you? This is what you always wanted
that image scared the shit outta me
>it will probably be $60 for a 1:1 Gameboy remake.
not saying you're wrong, but I hold out hope that it'll be priced more sensibly at around $30
Fuck, what a waste
Outside of the ones people constantly make fun of, New Island's OST honestly isn't that bad. I honestly think it's more inspired than Crafted World's at points.
How do you go from this...
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
Yes Woolly World was my GOTY of 2015, along with Bloodborne I guess.
The main composer (Tomoya Tomita) left the company and is now freelance
The second wasn't involved with Crafted World (Misaki Asada) but remains at GoodFeel
Oh, and Kazumi Totaka composed the main theme of Woolly
yoshi was never supposed to be a yarn baby or a cardboard kiddie
Still bad
I'll say it every thread, Yoshi not pulling a Wario Land or a DKC hurt it in the long run. I don't care if that supposed quote with Yoshi's Island and DKC is fake or not, the evidence shown with every subsequent game after Story is enough for me to believe it.
this is depression
Garbage music all of it
Holy shit how come I'm in the game?
island > crafted >wooly
the rest don't count
but yeah, the music on crafted is awful. sounds like fucking downtown mexico city at 1pm on a monday x10000.
>shitty gimmick GBA game
>shitty gimmick DS game
>Nintendo refuses to develop a Yoshi game themselves
>shitty sequel to Yoshi's Island by Artoon
>another shitty sequel that retcons the original YI ending and turns out to be made by people who worked for Artoon
>FUCK IT, JUST GIVE IT TO GOODFEEL
>have to ride on Kirby's coattails to save the series
>fuck it up immediately after
>now Yoshi is more of a baby series than Kirby
what the fuck happened
>downtown mexico city at 1pm on a monday x10000.
I can hear it now. Fuck.
I don't see the problem, I think this is cool
It won't be so crazy minimal with a bunch of sound effects over it
>tfw yoshi games used to have amazing music
youtube.com
Woolly was much better than this. It was actual Platforming + Collecting and the amiibo support was much better.
What quote?
It sounds like Charlie Brown's parents are having sex
>with a bunch of sound effects over it
This. Those Yoshi's Story sound clips complete the masterpiece. Based.
OH NONONONONOONONONON THIS IS LE NEXT LE TORTANIC GUYS LOLOLOLOLOL ITSS FUCKING FGAILIN G LOL THEY GONNA LOSE MONEY AND LOSE THEYR JOBS LMAO DUDE HAHAH HOLY SHIT LOOK ATT THIS GIF ITS A BUG LOOK HE CLIPS THROUGH THE WALLL OH MY GOOD ITS A BLUNDER HAH JUST JUST JUST JUST OHOONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONON
I think the game looks fun, but I'm in no hurry to play/buy it. I got plenty to play on my switch right now so I can wait for a 2nd hand copy of the game.
Wasn't the guy that made this going deaf or something? The only explanation for greenlighting this stuff must be the corporate culture of japan
Why does Yea Forums hate this but love the overworld theme in BotW?
I thought non-harmonic minimalism was superior to recognizable and catchy melodies.
"Donkey Kong Country proves that gamers will put up with mediocre gameplay as long as the art is good."
Supposedly he said this after the higher ups at NoJ wanted Yoshi's Island to be more like DKC. One could argue the hand-drawn look to YI was a protest to DKC's computer rendered graphics.
Why is Mario a wojak?
>it's another Yoshi game where they try to reuse one theme
>do it worse than fucking Yoshi's Story
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
Aww yes, i forgot about that
youtube.com
I see flute man is still in business
I'll never understand how that quote blew up. Miyamoto even helped them with Country.
I liked Woolly World's soundtrack
Shame they didn't keep the guy on
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
you didnt buy the labos
If it had the Oracle games included it would be god tier but nuNintendo remakes aren't allowed to be cool.
Sorry, meant to mention Miyamoto.
I'm not gonna pretend I know the answer but Yoshi's Island was a great game and seemed like it was trying to tell a different story from the Mario perspective. Story also seemed like it was setting up a new continuity/setting for Yoshi. Everything else onward, dead in the water.
if this game had a soundtrack like nier automata or xenoblade it would be kino
instead we get this boring shit? im expected to listen to this while on the bus playing my vita?
I wonder what will be the next thing to get the NSMB treatment. Let's just pray Wario isn't their next target.
According to the comments, he was hearing impaired.
There's also something about him paying other musicians to ghost-write his other tracks, but I dunno the truthfulness of that one.
That quote is a myth
Ignoring the music for a moment, has any user already played the game? Is the rest of the game as braindead easy as the demo?
I may get it depending on if it's at the least a little bit fun.
Right you people asked for it! youtube.com
so was beethowen
he just sucked
>durr metcha kawaii uguu yoshi-kun gamu needs kawaii froot music
Why? Why the fuck would you do that after a cute shit Kirby and A PREVIOUS YOSHI GAME had GOOD MUSIC?
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
It's bullshit. Miyamoto said he was confused as to why people said he hated DKC, because he was actually quite involved with feedback for that game.
Oh so it sounds more yoshi's storyish
I said supposedly for a reason.
Kirby Epic Yarn was peak comfy. I loved that game, also the music was god tier.
youtube.com
The only challenging thing Crafted World has is an extra fight against Kamek. There are no unlockable stages.
Haven't playd it, but going by the Nintendo formula since forever, it'll probably be braindead easy for the first half, and get only slightly less easy for the second half, especially if you want to 100%, but by no means will it actually challenge you.
So has Nintendo published anything not 3D that is great this decade?
Kill yourself you soulless cunt
>Food on the table
Bullshit
Has no Yoshi composer listened to Koji Kondo's Yoshi's Island soundtrack?
It has tracks like this in it.
Apparently the difficulty comes from finding all the hidden collectibles in every level and not the actual level design.
yoshi games are comfy as fuck, it's about exploring and collecting shit. simple as.
very odd how Yea Forums fellates the fuck out of Kirby games but then shits on Yoshi, when Yoshi has more creativity involved than your average Kirby game
can't wait for my copy to arrive
There was also talk that Miyamoto would rage and flip tables over.
He's just salty, DKC was more popular in Japan than Mario.
>apparently the difficulty comes from how the levels are designed and not the actual level design
retard
>when Yoshi has more creativity involved than your average Kirby game
The only reason Yoshi is even alive is literally because they stole a gimmick from a Kirby game to make a good Yoshi game.
Its not that bad but pretty close, the game uses really shitty instruments to play what seems to be the same or similar jingle throughout most levels
Yoshi has less games than Kirby. Yoshi also has more shit games than Kirby.
>but Woolly World
I know Woolly World is good. I'm not going to pretend all that other shit after Island didn't happen.
Not too surprising. GoodFeel made Epic Yarn and that was that game's design philosophy.
Yoshi isn't allowed to be cool anymore
Kirby games, despite their lower difficulty overall still gives you a sense of challenge and a lot more with its package. The music is on point, the mechanics and gameplay are simple yet versatile and unlike Yoshi, Kirby started off as a standalone series and a Mario-offshoot, who was also a Donkey Kong-offshoot but he actually grew into his own character, same with DK with DKC and even Wario who rarely appears in the mainline games. Even the stagnant rehashes of Return to Dreamland are deeper than the shit Yoshi has had for damn near two decades now.
The graphics are great, and the gameplay seems OK.
And now i just finished listing exactly what's good with it, and i can go for the ol THEY FUCKING RUINED THE YOSHI GAMES WITH THAT FUCKING HORRIBLE VOICE SHIT.
That's literally every game in the series. And honestly if you want a "difficult" Yoshi game try 100ing Yoshi's Island DS. That's probably the hardest game in the series. The collectables are hidden in flat out disgusting places in that game.
Why?
>Yoshi has more creativity involved than your average Kirby game
There was absolutely zero creativity until Woolly World came along and even that borrowed heavily from a previous GoodFeel game. The Yoshi games after Yoshi's Story were basically New Super Mario Bros. attempts at reviving Yoshi's Island and failing miserably. I'd even argue they're going back to relying on previous material because now Yoshi has a tank mode just like Kirby did in Epic Yarn.
Kirby had a great run on NES/SNES/N64 and most things after that are at least decent so people give the benefit of the doubt to new games, Yoshi went from a 10/10 game to a good one and after that the franchise was treated like a second class citizen, it's no surprise people aren't that interested specially with shit like the music not doing any favors.
Stop defending shit games by calling them comfy. I don't give a fuck if you think Yoshi's Island DS was comfy, it was shit. I don't give a fuck if you think Kirby Star Allies was comfy, it was shit.
>youtube.com
I love that stage and the music so much. I really like the castle theme too.
youtube.com
>Yoshi has more creativity
>every game, including this one, has the set up of Kamek and Baby Bowser fucking up a thing
>Baby Bowser turns giant at the end
>still reusing Yoshi's Story sound effects
Also
>third Yoshi game to attempt a storybook/crafts aesthetic
>Color Splash did it better
>he really believes this is in the game
Nugga
>spoiler
Disgusting. We don't speak about cancer here
Is the game good at least? I bought it for my neice as she wanted it but she's still getting used to video games
>caring about stories in a nintendo platformer
do you get upset at mario games featuring bowser as the baddy?
>he thinks it isn't
youtube.com
>turn on switch and look at the news
>new yoshi game is shown with the caption "games for kids"
hahahahah you fucking losers will buy anything, feels good being an Idort because the shitch has no games
In the song in the demo there was this incredibly distracting noise that kept happening like someone was crunching on chips throughout the song. Is there a lot of that in the rest of the tracks?
Here's your final boss bro
youtube.com
this shit is BANGIN'
>complaining about a supposedly creative series lazily reusing a villain with almost the exact same method of dispatching them means I care about the story
>do you get upset at mario games featuring bowser as the baddy?
No, but Bowser being battled the same way in NSMB is disappointing, especially when the 3D entries always do something different.
he did that thing that he does in mario odyssey where you become the object or whatever
That's because Kazumi Totaka did the music for Yoshi Story. They keep getting these mediocre composers to do it. So they shit out a terrible melody and we have to hear that the entire game.
>Baby Bowser turns giant at the end
And when it's not Baby Bowser, it's King Bowser.
>
>when said the game is creative he only thinks in aspect of the story or motivation of the character, not the actual gameplay, level design, etc.
you are a brainlet, sir
>newest Mario game had you fight Bowser in the center of the moon where you punch him with boxing gloves that emerge from the hat you steal from him
>newest Yoshi game has Baby Bowser grow giant
>giant bowser again
zzzzzz...
>Edition
This isn't /vg/
Based on what the other anons are saying, it's alright. Woolly World's another good option if you have a 3DS.
don't forget
>regular bowser is literally the model and animations ripped from nsmb
>giant baby bowser is literally baby bowser's resized head on bowser's body
Many mario games don't have bowser as the baddy.
Fuck you faggots it's comfy
Star Allies isn't bad though. Just a bit lacking for Kirby.
>Yoshi is TT in my country
That's a first, didn't expect it since most people only play shit like FIFA and CoD here in tacoland.
This. They can make it cool, but for some reason they choose not to.
It doesn't even have to be "Dark Souls Difficult". I loved the fight in SMG2 where you punch planetoids at him while free falling through space, and it was easy as fuck.
Just don't be boring.
shovelware as fuck
yakuza kiwami literally has some busted ass flute playing while you are trying to fight and people praise the game
Yea Forums is a snoy board
simple as
>they used the scream Jr. makes when he dies in NSMB as Baby Bowser's roar
I've played enough shitty hacks to recognize that cry.
>he didn’t post Fluffin’ Puffin Babysitting
I think the problem is that there are two kinds of Yoshi fans. Fans of Yoshi's Island. And fans of Yoshi's Story.
For fans of Yoshi's Island, there actually was difficulty back when it came out. Some didn't know you were supposed to fight the potted ghost by pushing him of all things. Some had forgotten the lesson in the castle, so they didn't know how to hit Navel Piranha's weakness. Of all the parts on the body, how were you supposed to know to blindly shoot a egg at Hookbill's lower jaw? And then figure out to keep doing it till he falls onto his back? Yoshi's skills were quite basic, so anything beyond "I just shoot blindly, or ground pound on their head" was considered cryptic as fuck back then.
Fans of Yoshi's Story on the other hand are very different. That game felt a bit cobbled together. There wasn't much rewards for 100% a level. The music was moreso just ok, you couldn't compare it to Koji Kondo's score.
See this is what one side of the fandom doesn't understand, back when Yoshi's Island came out, it did actually have difficulty. Difficulty in figuring out how to beat a boss most of the time. You had to test things out on your own and die alot till you figured it out. "OH, I am NOT supposed to run from the potted ghosts blue flames coming down, I am supposed to go towards them, avoid them, and push the boss like its a object? Wouldn't that hurt me?" "OH, I cannot believe I forgot that lesson about ricocheting the egg to skim across the water! I thought it was meaningless.." "Wait so I hit him with a egg, but not while he is on the ground. And not when he is standing up? Wait what it has to be his chin? WHY?"
Also, moreso a nitpick, but I felt Woolly World did a decent job making a 3D Baby Bowser. New Island and Crafted World simply remove Bowser Jr.'s mask from his model.
user, there's nothing wrong with a game being comfy.
But it being comfy doesn't make it good. Especially when Adult Bowser quite literally comes out of nowhere for reasons.
>Giant Baby Bowser
How many times have they done this?
Mexicans love Nintendo, it's just the state of the yoshi franchise that makes it surprising.
>Yoshi's Island is my favorite games
>Nintendo makes sure to never ever ever ever make an honest attempt at a follow up.
So disappointing.
>that underwhelming as fuck Bowser music
I'm convinced the Yoshi composers are doing this on purpose.
They've been upping the pitch of Junior's voice clips since at least New Island.
Granted, they might be using his old voice actor's clips.
Was expecting something terribad, but it's a pleasing listen in a minimalist sense.
>big open world game youre meant to explore in
vs
>linear platformer that used to be known for good music
not to mention the composition is objectively fucking shit
You are the biggest faggot in this thread and not for the usual reasons. Well done.
To put it into perspective, Yoshi's Story (and Topsy-Turvey if you count that) are the only ones that DON'T do that.
Woolly World's is alright on its own merits.
youtu.be
yeah that's what I meant to say. Sure most of us love Nintendo, but most of the nintendo fans limit themselves most of the time to mario, zelda, smash and pokemon. seeing people talk about yoshi it's pretty weird
>he thinks Color Splash is bad
I want to fuck Yoshi
>The one entry that seemed like it wanted to try something new
I'm not surprised.
>he doesn't
I mean it's not complete dog shit like sticker star but it's far from good
are you shy, guy?
Better than The Thousand Year Backtrack
5
I just don't understand why Nintendo is completely incapable of making a Yoshi game as good as the original Yoshi's Island.
Or why they still haven't made a Starfox game as good as 64.
Just......how do you be that consistently awful?
Link looks pretty dumb but the rest of the graphics look nice.
Nice bait
Wait, Wooly world and crafter world are two separate games? Holy shit.
I love the artstyle but I feel like it could have been better
That was actually pretty interesting and creative, the giant robot was cool.
>b-b-but not ANOTHER giant baby bowser fight!
Did you anons know there are literally tons of Kirby fans that would boycott a Kirby game if Whispy Woods wasn't in it? Do you know the definition of a "franchise tradition"?
Yoshi's Island was awful
I can’t find the costume machine music, I hate it so much.
But here’s perhaps the best track in Woolly World.
youtube.com
I love how the guy posting this says the game is better than Wooly World, but this thread ignores that completely.
>456417660
Not even worth a (You)
Nobody will think you're interesting for being contrarian.
Because it’s not true
>b-b-but Kirby
So are Kirby and Yoshi fags going to go at each other's throats from now on?
There are people who shits on both series, so it isn't mutually exclusive to this particular game. Don't you remember the Star Allies thread during the last 6 months of 2017. That said, Kirby does up the ante with music and final boss compared to Yoshi which seems to be stuck with a particular set of instruments that doesn't invoke the same kind of emotion Yoshi's Island has created.
Well I haven't played it so I wouldn't know, and I doubt you have either.
no, but I would if Dedede were to be the final boss forever and ever, simply because he was the first final boss in the series. That's also the reason why many anons are tired of Dark Matter and Nightmare ripoffs. Most Kirbyfags like the series, but, personally, I've never seen one defend shit like this.
Why would Kirby just leave food sitting there?
Blame Miyamoto autism of not liking sequels that feel similar to the past game, same reason f-zero is deader than Michael Jackson now.
>brings up Whispy Woods, a recurring boss, when the issue was the final boss
>conveniently ignores Burt the Bashful
Amazing to watch Yoshi getting some soul back with Wooly World, only to immediately lose it again.
i like it
>m-muh MIYAHMOTO
Fuck off and leave the dude alone already, he's not responsible for every single bad Nintendo decision.
Nintendo finds a successful game IP they have, then tries to franchise it. While some fans might not admit it, Yoshi's Island DS was in fact pretty close to Yoshi's Island, but the newest gimmick, the only thing meant to make sure the sequel was either better or different enough to be a sequel, fell flat and was downright hated. Yoshi's New Island was a reaction to that, to try and make a Yoshi's Island so similar to the first one that fans would have to like it. Only, games that used to be seen as easy are now seen as hard, so they made a easy game even more easy, and that ruined it. Woolly World captured the heart of the original, only that by now people are sick and tired of them trying to rehash the original, but they also don't want something drastically new. Nintendo has no choices. Nothing they could do would make everyone happy.
Also Kirby still does final bosses way better than most of the other Nintendo franchises.
So would Yoshi fans boycott the next game if he didn't make it in too?
but the music isnt really bad at all
youtu.be
I have played it.
Only in Smash Bros. I bet
Absolute banger
Its a difference in gameplay and atmosphere they try to achieve.
BotW is an open adventure game that wants to get you immersed with the feeling of being isolated in nature, so surrounding the player by mostly atmospheric sounds is ideal. Not to mention, an overworld theme that would play for 90% of the game would get very grating.
Yoshi's Crafted World is aiming to be a cutesy and bubbly platformer where you spend a few minutes on each level. Minimalistic music doesn't fit that style of gameplay or atmosphere.
You're right. All he's responsible for is removal of story from a few Mario games and forcing shitty gimmicks like Starfox Zero.
Paper Mario, F-Zero, and Metroid fags always cry Miyamoto. It's easier than doing the research and realizing there are different development teams, creative differences, or sometimes the games just sell like shit.
aw, fuck off. It's perfectly fine for a "spooky" level in a kids game.
minimalism is fine but did they have to hire a grade school kid with a recorder for the OST?
I like how you just reposted the same world map theme because they all sound the same
I was expecting something horrible from all the replies, but this is just kiddy spook ambience. Its inoffensive at worst.
I realize that, I'm not complaining about muh paper mario toads, but he's known for better or worse to not repeat himself and direct sequels like Mario Galaxy 2 are an exception, SNES Yoshi Island was likely a one-off until they realized it was a hit.
It's garbage next to the music nintendo made for spooky levels in kids games before.
This is a bad argument.
First, I am actually a fan of both Kirby and Yoshi franchises.
Second, since some of you didn't get it, a franchise tradition is when something is repeated so much, it stops mattering if its good or bad, but instead becomes part of the series identity. You might dislike when this happens, but once it reaches this point, removing it is like removing a vital part of the franchises identity. Final Fantasy. Dragon Quest. Persona. Shin Megami Tensei. All franchises with their own franchise traditions. And anytime a installment drastically changed this, went against the normals, and tried to get rid of some of these traditions, the fans complained. The fans reacted. They didn't buy it. It failed. So they mostly brought back those traditions, and only half the players who left came back. Its worse to lose a annoying tradition then it is to keep it.
Third, Burt hasn't been the first boss of EVERY mainline Yoshi game.
>Yoshi's Island
Mega-ultra-super nostalga'd.
Definitely nothing compares to that.
Still listen to the OST from time to time.
Those days are over, lads.
but this is literally a toddler game
>I mean it's not complete dog shit like sticker star
yeah, it's not
it's actually WORSE than complete dog shit
>in a kids game
Fuck off with this weak excuse. Here are other songs for "spooky" levels in kids games.

if one good thing came from these, it's that at least Poochy is back and pushed to be an almost mainline character
Fucker was even in Odyssey
Color Splash had good writing and aesthetic, the rest of it is shit
Not even Trihex likes it.
Even outside of DS's gimmick, the level design was just bland and uninspired, and so was the music. Overall it just felt inferior.
New Island was even worse in the graphics/music department.
>it's a kids game so it's okay that it's low quality!
This isn't Yea Forums, user
I chuckled
This reminds me a lot of the haunted house music from Mario Land 2 with the pauses and all, but it still had something kinda consistent to it. Speaking of “the gameboy did it better”, Link’s Awakening had a few tracks that tried to use pauses and atmospheric notes to good effect and did it better I think.
OH MAN YOU SURE ARE ON TO SOMETHING HOLD ON A SECOND
>goes to Yoshi wikia
>"Burt has been in three Yoshi games out of EIGHT"
SURE SOUNDS LIKE A RE OCCURRING CHARACTER RIGHT?! Are you being serious?
>only normal toads
Aesthetic was a big step back.
The "difficulties" were the charm. Nowadays, everything is dumbed the fuck down to shit.
it's not even as bad, this sounds exactly like animal crossing music
>there will never be another vore boss like Prince Froggy
That's my point user, this is how Nintendo works. They make their sequel. It falls flat. They respond in kind "well fans don't want anything new, go back to the old game, but current gamers are even more stupid then back then, so make it even EASIER" thus New Island was born.
That's why no Yoshi game will ever fully work.
Nobody wants to play the same old rehash of Yoshi's Island 1 anymore, and nobody wants something new and terrible anymore. They are sick of both.
Pokemon is one too and the music is fine there.
>And fans of Yoshi's Story
Wait, what? No other Yoshi game plays like Story. That one had you collecting fruit in endless loops with a lot of minigames+little puzzles and only three flowers to collect. Not to mention it had a unique unlock system for level advancement and was meant to be replayed.
You're right, Yoshi was supposed to be crayon.
Give me an actual example of Color Splash's writing being good. Fourth-wall breaks and memes aren't good writing, so don't bother posting those.
>Burt hasn't been the first boss of EVERY mainline Yoshi game
Same applies to Whispy. Kracko has appeared in more games than Whispy at this point.
>Nobody wants to play the same old rehash of Yoshi's Island 1 anymore
I would literally pay $60 for a full alternate-level-romhack of Yoshi's Island.
>Nobody wants to play the same old rehash of Yoshi's Island 1 anymore,
I would love a faithful rehash of yoshi's island.
They've never done anything after it that was nearly as good.
If you consider the original Yoshi's Island music "toddler music" then this would be "fetus music" its inferior in every way.
BUT ITS CUTE
>Color Splash had good writing
Having everyone be a snarky jackass is not good writing, it's lazy writing.
Look up yoshi's Island 2+ and 2+2
I legitimately hate the new "costumes" aka glorified boxes that look too big
These looked better
This literally sounds like 8 year old me practising "Three Blind Mice" on a recorder.
Its still really good so far. Feels more like the SNES game than WW did.
This is actually alright. I wouldn't say it's as good as Yoshi's Island's castle theme, but it shows a lot of confidence when a composer incorporates so much silence into their music
Played it for a few hours today, I enjoy the little details and how the levels are set up. I find it follows the philosophy where a level should have gimmicks and platforms based around the theme, not just placed for the sake of placement. Also pretty comfy. Musics shite though
lol imagine if it was a cute girl monster doing it
haha
>Feels more like the SNES game than WW did
Fuck off, Boco. You'll defend anything on the Switch. The egg aiming is objectively worse than WW, making it less like the SNES game. Yoshi also moves slower in mid-air.
>not playing any instruments at times = confidence
How? Why? What? Explain please.
No I won't.
And the egg aiming is weird, I'll admit. Not used to 360 aiming yet. Otherwise it feels good. Not as braindead simple as WW was.
I'm not very fond of the visual direction of crafted/wooly world
I always found yoshi's island to be immersive which was something I liked, but that feeling cannot exist with these fake yoshis in those fake worlds
>456420327
>can't make a point without using wojak edits
snoyboys, everyone
>cow yoshi
>watermelon yoshi
>orange yoshi
These alone are better than anything in crafted.
Music is the cup that holds the wine of silence.
Yeah, none of the Yoshi game looks has worked as good as yoshi's island did.
It’s a shame the gameplay was so nothing and it wasn’t good because the presentation was fantastic
lol imagine if like a cute girl monster swallowed yoshi haha and he had to escape her tummy before she turns him into a fart haha wouldn't that be so hilarious haha
haha
I don't mind the craft aesthetics. just wish they didn't dumb down the gameplay to match the "kiddie" setting.
Imagine being a grown up adults and still playing Yoshi games
Imagine being grown up adults and being so insecure about your adulthood that you don't do things because they are "for kids".
>tfw grown up adults were playing the original Yoshi's Island, a game with lots of effort put in so that anyone could enjoy it
Is the level something with "dynamic" sound so different things play as you move, and holding still does nothing? The blanks seem really big.
Not defending this obviously shit game but that’s not how the music sounds. Fake and gay.
Nope. Generic ghost level.
It feels like a wish was made on the monkey paw with this one:
>"I wish to have more advanced aiming options in the Yoshi series!"
>"Very well, you are granted 3D aiming, but now the cursor is slow as fuck now"
>all the dead air
>all the random instruments
>then the music actually starts
>it just abruptly ends and loops back to dead air.
Holy shit.
If you just think of the original Yoshi's Island as "crayon style", then woolly style and cardboard style makes some sense, as long as the gameplay is still there.
And Yoshi's Story was a popup book.
That’s the only one that isn’t shit though
Kirby is by far one of the worst vidya franchises of all time with one of the worst fanbases
woolly world was good
and the sad part is that it still has better games than yoshi
what a fucked up timeline
>as long as the gameplay is still there
It isn’t though. At all. Hasn’t been since yoshis story
Remember when Nintendo was very creative company?
The Snes, n64 and game cube were the golden age.
After Wii, everything went to a down hill.
And I still think that the "big sales" records of Switch is a manipulated information. We know that big companies sometime make up sale records
yoshi's story gameplay was fucking dogshit though, WW, and CW are definitely above it.
I'd even say that DS' gameplay was above it too.
Imagine being a grown up adults and still play video games
Weird question but I guess I should ask here.
After playing through a bunch of other SNES games, which would be a better follow up to Kirby Super Star: Dreamland 3 or Yoshi's Island?
>Kirby is by far one of the worst vidya franchises of all time
Is this bait?
>Yoshi fans refuse to accept that only their series has shitty games
Depressing.
It feels as if these people working on the post Yoshi Story games weren't told that the aesthetic was a visual narrative device, didn't really had anything to do with the target demographic.
seething snoyboy
But that's good?
This post reeks of Hispanic
Kamek is both best boy and worst parent.
The Wii (at least the first half of its lifespan) still had creativity.
Yoshi. Dreamland 3 really doesn't play much like Superstar.
Yoshi's Island. DL3 is going to feel like a massive step backwards in terms of movement, mechanics, and level design compared to Super Star.
Woolly World is a better platformer and overall experience than Crafted World because it feels like an actual sequel/continuation to Yoshi's Island and not something entirely new. Crafted World has worse music but better overall visuals and artistic variety, so it makes up for its shortcomings. Not a fan of the fact that they removed one-way doors and warp pipes, because it detracts from the 'Yoshi' experience for me personally.
Well at least it wasn't "WARPING THROUGH TIME AND SPACE"
>N64
>golden age
The only achievement of that console is being the only Nintendo hardware with terrible emulation.
What about Mario 64, Ocarina, and Goldeneye?
Is there a Nintendo thread which isn't lame ass bait.
>the unique robot fight is the first phase
W H Y
HOW CAN YOU BE "THIS" FUCKING STUPID?
Welcome to Yea Forums.
Arms was shit and a big failure
New Fire emblem series are just waifu simulator
The new upcoming zelda game is a lazy remake.
The last pokemon was a lazy red& blue remake.
Nintendo has become a big and lazy company that only survive because of their retarded fanbase, retro memes and their image
reminds me of old smt a bit
>Splatoon, Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Smash
It's okay, my little haha friend. Maybe the next Paper Yoshio will be a little better.
There's also apparently a secret final boss, if anybody was curious
youtube.com
console war shitposters are just a loud minority, but sadly theyre way too fucking autistic and ruin pretty much any modern nintendo/sony exclusive discussion because everyone gives them attention.
you'll be able to discuss this game in a few years.
odyssey was shit too
Here, have a YOU, young man.
Now I KNOW this is bait.
>What is Star Fox
>What is Metroid
>What is the current state of Pikmin
Well no one believes Nintendo didn't make great games on the N64, but their consoles were great thanks to the collective effort of all japanese publishers
>game has familiar and reused leitmotif
So every Nintendo game?? Seriously just name one that doesn't do it. Even Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild did this, fucking Color Splash did it. Fire Emblem, etc.
shut the fuck up boco
Even Star Fox Zero is better than the average Yoshi game
Tropical Freeze.
>moobs
>belly
That's some good shit right there.
My favorite part is the build up with the drumbeat, and then they just end it
I knew there had to be something about it. Every time I've tried to play DL3 in the past, I've always ended up dropping it after just a couple of levels for some reason.
I like the style. But not i'm not going to pay 60 bucks for a fucking 3DS game.
Probably gonna grab it when it hits 20.
I forgot Chibi-Robo, that series is fucking dead because of shit games.
>I forgot Chibi-Robo
a lot of people did because it was never good
>Loosing your shit over the music un a Yoshi's game.
I hope one of these you neet sadsacks have to face REAL LIFE. Them, you will have serious shit to bitch about.
>456424306
You’re not getting a (You) either
I might pay that if they add or change anything. I've already played the DX version like, ten times.
Please tell me I'm not only person who hears the riff to 7 Nation Army
Have we reached peak contrarían, guys?
we're not defending Crafted World's soundtrack or saying YIDS was the best in the series yet.
>Twitter post
Maybe that guy might be overreact-
>YouTube video
Oh lord what was Nintendo thinking????
>Let's just pray Wario isn't their next target.
THIS!!!! I love wario platformers and I would scream to the heavens if Nintendo ever mess up a new wario platformer by outsourcing the game.
All in all, which series has the better character design?
I mean, the last Wario platformer was outsourced and it was just okay.
Sure it fits the atmosphere of the level, but it's just absurdly underwhelming considering how stellar Woolly World's soundtrack was and is. Fucking shame not many people got to experience it due to the Wii U's failure.

FUUUUUUCK should've just ported Woolly World, fuck my life.
Kirby, though Goonies are one of my favorite enemies ever.
My brother.
>FUUUUUUCK should've just ported Woolly World, fuck my life.
They did. To 3DS.
games been alright so far, feels like a better yoshi's story in terms of control, and there's an actual reason for getting the flowers this time around.
music is arse though, there's only been one good track so far.
i wish they got WW's composer, it's such a shame that he left good feel.
nuKirby is just disembodied limbs
do you think tomita leaving good feel partly caused the delay in 2017?
But they have never tried to make Yoshi's Island again.
With Yoshi's Story, I have no clue what the hell went through their heads. And all the gravitation games and topsy turvy was never really attempts at another YI.
YIDS fails because, the draw of YI is first and foremost the visual presentation. And YIDS feels like they have completely missed that point.
YNI even more so because it starts with the whole "its diy crafting" thing they slowly started with Yoshi's Story.
If they could just make a Yoshi's Island 2 that plays like Yoshi's Island, with the same difficulty but make the visuals updated from 8-bit to hand drawn penmenship or something. Many would be happy.
The music is not bad, cmon now
>it's such a shame that he left good feel
Fuck. They could have at least looked for a good replacement. I'll miss hearing that guy's music.
youtube.com
youtube.com
The last three Wario platformers were all outsourced.
Could they just call it Yoshi's Island Again?
not sure honestly.
pretty sure the music they used in the 2017 E3 trailer is made by the same composer who did the rest of the soundtrack.
Yoshi because Shy guys are great
yes
Shy Guys came from SMB2 though
Imagine being a grown adult and still posting on a Taiwanese Knitting Forum.
Crafted World? More like Crapped World huh?
That is a dead end. The introduced guys who can't make the jump to Mario like Bom-omb and Pokey moved to Yoshi's Island.
Are there any games ever that have been created in a crayon/pen artstyle and done well at that? Cuphead did the whole retro cartoon style absurdly well so it's possible, and they're an indie studio too...
Ninji as well
Glass houses and stones, Mung.
Woolly World was good though?
why couldnt they have made crafted world in the style of chowder? wouldve been sick
I really like both, but I may like Yoshi's a bit more.
Rapheal the Raven is literally the best designed character of all time.
Would you care to elaborate?
I would have bit at forty. Sixty dollars? Same price as RDR2 or Smash Ult? Hard pass.
Caw caw caw.
You guys memed the 3ds game into oblivion and aside from 1 or 2 tracks I didn't think it was bad.
I'm sure this will be the same situation.
They used up all the soul allotted to Yoshi for the decade on Wooly World
>Sized up variant of a mass-production unit gets a unique name
Why.
you have mistaken by shygals
I want to enjoy YCW but it feels like a downgrade from YWW
>60$
It's a generic hate comment that just wants easy (You)s, of course it's bait.
No one respond to this, he's deliberately doing the things that are pissing you off to piss you off
Tropical Freeze absolutely has one, what are you talking about?
>he actually thinks people are rushing to defend CW
Yoshi's Island is the best option here. Dreamland 3 has the single move for each ability, but has animal partners that changes the nature of each ability.
No, people will be rushing to say "Wow making your own thread?" "Wow, trip fagging?" it's really easy to get (You)s from newfags by doing things that go against etiquette.
I like Kirby better despite to the objection of the autistic raymanfag, but Yoshi does have the better mooks.
>Feel Good do this weird pulled back music for some reason when they've proven in the past that they're great at making series-appropriate music
youtube.com
youtube.com
youtube.com
Why do they seem to get worse as time goes on?
WHAT TEH FUCK. THAT WAS THE SAME FUCKING TRACK USED IN THE UNDERWATER LEVEL AT THE START, THEY REUSE IT FOR SPACE AS WELL? GOOD FEEL NO, I THOUGHT YOU WERE BETTER THAN THIS
how do you know who composed crafted world?
It's sucks how Nintendo used to be known for having their games be $10-20 cheaper on their platform during the N64/Gamecube era, now they're the ones overpricing games on their platform.
Am I the only one who's digging this? This stuff is my jam y'all know that.
Yikes, guess I'll just stick with Woolly World. youtube.com
Yoshi games have always been complete garbage, why would you expect anything different?
I want a new Wario Land game damn it. It's been over 10 years.
Considering that Wooly World was a pretty good collecting platformer, there was hope that Crafted World would follow
Seems like the first thing you would do when making a new Yoshi game is to copy the SNES game controls and get the physics correct. They were literally perfect. Why do they keep changing shit? Also, for the love of fuck get rid of the generic colored gems.
Nintendo hire this man
Yoshi Infinity Gems/Stones memes though.
I would tell you to start developing one but we all know what Nintendo will do to you, are there any notable Wario fangames already published?
>N64
Nigga what? N64 games were up to 70 bucks. Or more towards the end.
Crafted World is good, it's just the music ranges from shit to mediocre, with 1 or 2 great music pieces in there. The gameplay, level design, and bosses are all top tier
Pizza
>shitty gimmick DS game
i'm sorry but touch and go was an amazing game and you have bad taste
Is this what unfinished atonal music sounds like?
How is the gameplay "top tier"? I watched Trihex play the whole game, and it looks boring as fuck. Everything looks extremely slow and it seems basically impossible to die unless you try
It's called snoygers needing to cope. Remember, no E3, no game until november at the earliest. Multiple have already been delayed.
Its not as braindead as Woolly. Every level actually makes you think.
Reminder that Sakurai killed the black Yoshi to shill this game in Smash instead.
Pizza Tower is the closest we'll get.
I guess it's opinion whether the gameplay is good or not, but that dying thing is true for most Yoshi games including the original
Yikes. Nintendies just keep losing
Black Yoshi lives to not matter.
>Every level actually makes you think.
Imagine being this fucking dumb that a literally baby game challenges your brain
Yoshi on SNES pits, spikes, and lava instantly killed you. Seems like even falling in a pit in Crafted World just flies you back on to the level
His name's in the credits
Dreams vs Nightmares. Its a nice theme that builds up to the later segments.
>tfw 0:49
Pay attention to who the individual composer is, not just the company.
scared
>falling in a pit in Crafted World just flies you back on to the level
I legit thought I had picked mellow mode accidentally when I fell into a pit and was escorted back to the platform in an egg. Why the fuck is this part of classic mode? Why would they hold my hand in what SHOULD be a normal mode? I didn't fucking pick mellow mode, fuck this babying bullshit.
