And nothing of value was lost
way to fucking go
Faggot
>a.k.a. I was planning to go Uplay only, but if I can get chinobux, the better
>preorder our game or get chang'd!
fucking lame.
fpbp
Seems like a good time to finally quit gaming.
Damn I was looking forward to it. Guess I'll just pirate it.
Epic is so stupid, who buys ubishit from anywhere but uplay or voidu ffs
EGS = pirate.
Good that china are subsidising our videogames now, I really don't think that Epic have thought their strategy through.
OHHHHHH!!!!! THE PIRATES LIFE FOR ME
>epic is footing the bill
thanks chinks
it's a shame, but it's still on Uplay which was mandatory anyways
Is the 1800 the total number of sales they aim for?
Tiananmen square massacre
>Insert hes-right-you-know.jpg
He's not wrong user, nothing of value was lost.
Just buy it on Uplay.
>still needs uplay
nothing of value really was lost, because who is retarded enough to buy ubi games on anything but uplay. if anything, this damn near guarantees another game.
Third Post Best Post.
I was going to buy this when it was 50% off on steam so I could play it through proton on linux.
Now I'll pirate it on release and play it on my pirated windows system. Thanks china.
>finally a proper Anno after 3 consecutive garbage entry
>nothing of value
Shut up you ape.
t-thanks for providing competition, epic
post beta comfy
Its pretty shit, but ultimately does it really change much for the user when its a ubisoft game? They already have 2-step DRM and buying ubisoft games on steam always sends you to their launcher when you want to play anyways.
You can also add it locally if you want it in your library for the same effect. From what I can tell the only thing this really does is prevent it from being part of sales (which is something ubisoft controls anyways).
This seems more like a FUCK EPIC rather than a genuine problem unlike the previous times they've done this exclusive deal.
wtf I love Ubisoft now
No proton no buy
I can almost see some faggots setting up campaigns somewhere "PREORDER ANNO 1800 FROM STEAM TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT" and ubisoft makes big bucks from some semi niche franchise.
>not cancelling your preorder in protest
Another game to pirate
WE CAN'T STOP WINNING PIRATEBROS
eh if you really care about victorian era nation-building you already know about Victoria 2. different scope, but superior nonetheless.
>looking forward to an ubisoft game
Let's go for a 4th one then? LUL
Epic just said they wouldn't do this again and they did it again
pcgamer.com
I don't trust companies in general but they couldn't go 2 weeks without backtracking, that's fucking shameless
there is one Ubisoft game that I play fairly regularly. I'll let you guess.
Who gives a fuck you still need to have uplay running even if it was on steam
can't wait for the Nathan Grayson Kiketaku article that paints Gabe as a villain
wanted to buy this game not anymore though
>game stays on steam
>lel uplay no thanks hard pass
>game goes somewhere else but still needs uplay anyway
>NOOO THIS IS AN OUTRAGE I WAS (NOT) GONNA BUY IT
ubisoft makes good games sometimes
Yes, it is FUCK EPIC for me at least.
I will buy a game anywhere but Epic, because Epic eared my ire.
That said I probably wouldn't have bought this game anyways.
I was planning to buy it on uplay for the discount anyway.
even if it required Uplay (still buy on steam or wherever), exclusivity on the SAME platform (pc) is just wrong.
Played the beta and it was really fun.
No physical, no buy. Steam sucks just as much as EGS
I was never going to buy it desu, now I'm thinking I should just not play any ubisoft games until they get their shit together
love a good thread of salty steam drone tears!
reminder that 20% of game downloads from public trackers have viruses.
Source?
my aids ridden asshole
El juego se llama ano jajajajja
FUCK YOU
yeah, i'd say not putting up a steam page for months then switching over to Epic at the last minute is a much smarter move from these retarded publishers. Not that I care about ubishit at all. if they want to get paltry traffic to their shitty games, more power to them.
well i should have read the thread.
fuck epic and fuck ubishit. and fuck steam for not fixing their god damn terms of service.
Steam lost
no
the customer lost.
The customer and real PC gamers lost when Steam was accepted.
>customers want Steam to be a monopoly
No, those are called "shills"
>Caring about Ubishit.
I don't think you know what a monopoly is
Steam isn't a monopoly, it's just that Valve shills want it to be.
ubisoft are only doing it because they know most people will buy it from uplay and so more money for them and they get some chink $ to top it off
Tim "the hypocrite" Sweeney strike yet again
this is just how chinks do business
>oh me solly, dont happen again
>does the exact same thing again
>oh me solly, dont happen again
this is exactly how it is dealing with them
more like Anno 1800 copies sold at most
This situation is *slightly* better as you can preorder until release day while Metro got pulled the same day as the Epic exclusivity announcement was made.
It's still a shit situation and makes Epic look bad regardless.
If you're buying a Ubisoft game on PC just buy it on Uplay. It has to launch through that anyway. Plus you get the 20% off with the achievement points.
I haven't installed the Epic Launcher, should I?
ubisoft can partner with anyone because we all know they arent going to make another rayman game
>You now realize that you can pirate EGS games and the devs still get paid
Piracy without even morality issues
Feels fucking great
if you want to give china a more direct line to your data yes
>already bought it on Steam
Bullet dodged.
I already have chinese phone
can I get even more direct
I have a Lenovo (Motorola) phone so they know all about me
>remove game from steam
>drive everyone directly to your own store instead of epic
imagine being ubi and getting paid by epic to short their own store
Damn I eventually knew the cancer companies like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft were going to make their way over to PC. Good thing most PC gamers hate them.
anno-union.com
>One guy replying to the comments to shill Epic
china numba wan
if you for whatever reason still bought the game on steam, you still get updates and can buy future dlc. you can also still buy it on steam until the 16th it seems, so you if you still want it on steam get it now.
The dumbest thing about this is that the strategy genre is pretty stacked in the coming weeks. This is sales suicide for an already niche series. Thankfully that means it might go for 50-75% off on Uplay in the next few months.
>Tropico 6 literally today
>Imperator: Rome
>Total War: Three Kingdoms
>Even dlc for TW: Warhammer 2
I was looking forward to this, but I guess they already got paid. Shame
You can't buy games on Steam though, paying for a download license isn't buying a game.
This is the perfect opportunity to start demanding DRM free physical releases on PC but everyone is too busy praising le gaben
What data do they collect and what do they do with it?
Every anno game needs uplay so who cares
>imagine being a company
literally can't
>But Valve is my favorite cancer so they get a free pass XD
>already bought it on Steam
It's full price on Steam. It's 10-15% off everywhere else.
Why did you buy on Steam?
Feels good man.
But this is a seriously cunt move on the part of Bluebyte. No idea they would let themselves succumb to this horseshit.
again again again, why ia lways need to explain this.
dosent matter if you buy on steam or Epic store, Ubisoft will always force you to use the UPLAY, so what is the point of not buying on Uplay?
This. Its 20% off on Uplay if you use those points they give you for doing literally anything. It launches through that anyway so cut out the middleman.
Not him but yeah I used the uplay points code and got it for 20% off. The beta was really solid and I was surprised to see the game was delayed. Not sure what the problem was that required it.
>No idea they would let themselves succumb to this horseshit.
The ubisoft suits told them to. A bunch of autistic germans with a niche game can't stand up to that.
If you have to ask, the answer is hell fuck no.
I would run it sandboxed if possible as well.
devs generally have no say in this shit, other devs have expressed disappointment with these kinds of moves because 1: it's not their decision, it's their publisher's decision, 2: they don't make any money off it, the publisher does
You underestimate how popular Anno is. Anno will be the strategy game to beat this year. Tropico is just a rehash, Total War is only played by retards and Paradox autism isn't exactly blockbuster material.
Isn't it still developed by blue byets in Germany i.e. third world country for games development.
Ubisoft was just getting back on my good side too. Welp. Guess this the last game I'm getting from them too now.
No huge loss though as they've killed AC ages ago and have been only making trash anyway.
I dunno man, I just ran through steamcharts and the highest all time peak I'm seeing for the series is 11k players. Maybe Uplay sales are way bigger, but I slightly doubt that. I'm sure the game will be good though, I just feel bad for the devs who don't get a penny of this multi million dollar deal, and get fucked for it.
it's more of a cult following of dedicated fans and the game isn't exactly online
its ubisoft's decision and they're going to keep doing it with their games because it drives customers to uplay instead of steam and they make more money both from thier own store and epic bribes. you can safely bet the next ass creed, rainbow 6, etc. will all be epic.
If the game sells for $50 gross and Steam takes a 30% commission, that leaves them with $35 net.
If the game sells for $40 gross and Epic takes a 12% commission, that leaves them with $35 net.
I don't understand why they can't put it for $35 on the Ubi store, $40 on the Epic Store and $50 on Steam
Let people make their own choice
I was going to pirate it anyway since I'm never going to make a fucking uPlay account either so I don't really give a shit
Because Epic is giving them tons of cash for exclusivity
Anno 1404 is the fan favorite and Anno 1404 was sold boxed without Steam or uplay DRM so it wouldn't show up much in those stats.
Well with all those sweet savings and bonus checks for exclusivity, they've already paid for my pirated copy and I get to save $60. Epic is pretty based in the end.
Looks like I'll be pirating this one. That's a shame. I would have paid for it. But pre-ordering on Steam does not make up for their semi-exclusive contract. Fuck them. Ubisoft is officially on my "Always Pirate" list.
yeah if you're a pirate no doubt go for it and sail the high seas. if you still wanna buy ubi games there's zero point to buy them anywhere else, be it steam or epic.
Because neither Ubisoft nor Epic actually gives a shit about the consumers.
What the fuck does it matter if Steam takes a deeper cut than Epic if the price you have to pay is identical anyway? The only way Epic can put some actual pressure on Steam is by actually having cheaper games
Yeah this one was supposed to be REALLY good. Such a shame. I would have paid full retail price for it, but not gonna sacrifice my principles. *puts on the pirate hat*
>I would have paid full retail price for it
then just get it from uplay? if you have ubi points you also get 20% off and you were going to have to use uplay regardless
but then he cant show off to this steam buddies
>Ubishit
Nothing to be worried about. Feel free to keep churning out bland sandboxes and milking whatever's left of Tom Clancy's corpse.
It's called price differentiation. Anno 1800 is full price on the well known stores. It's 10% discounted if you buy a uplay key from a lesser known site. (wingamestore, gamesplanet, greenmangaming, etc.)
Basically you pay full price if you are price insensitive and just buy it in whatever store you happen to click on first.
If you are more price sensitive and compare prices you get a better deal.
Not if you aren't a retard. Where the fuck are you getting your torrents from? All the major scene groups have official distribution channels. If you go to loltorrentsrus.ru and get a virus, that's you're own fault.
Thankfully with the Xi's Good Boy Points system thats being implemented if they end up scamming other businesses it'll be a strike against them because it tarnishes the reputation of their nation
I'm curious to see how their government controlled morality system works since they don't have any inherent morality in their culture
Why does it look worse than 1404?
You notice Steam has not said a word or made a single move. There is no sign of loss. No sign of desperation. No sign of hesitance. Gabe knows Epic is dead in the water and absolutely does not give a shit. He sees no reason to change course. That should tell you something.
a lot of publishers get money for simply putting the game on epic's store and not steam's
The thing is valve can't pull the shame shit epic is pulling or they'll get a ton of hate. Imagine valve in 2019 paying off some publisher for exclusivity, all the entitled indie devs would start crying about how valve doesn't promote their games or give them exclusivity money
Yep, Valve is just sitting back losing exclusives left and right. Gabe is loaded, clearly he doesn't give a shit anymore.
it looks way better than 1404
1404 definitely holds up today but to say it looks better than 1800 is just being dishonest
Vaöve doesn't need to pay for exclusivity because they still have tons of exclusives you can't play any other way but through Steam.
Also Valve contracts and negotiations are under NDA so there might be terms that make it advantages to stay Steam exclusive.
>Tropico 6 literally today
god they should stop churning these out and just reevaluate why the new ones always suck
user, please.
Steam is not on the decline but not growing very much like it used to.
From what I've seen 6 looks much better than 5 was.
buy glasses, eyelet
>cause major scene groups have never been caught shipping viruses that steal bitcoins
Do you not understand how principles work? Not buying the product is a protest towards their shitty business practice. It has nothing to do with money or where you buy it. Those chose to encourage exclusives on the PC, so I chose to not support them.
Valve is not playing Epic in this game. They don't want to. They are not going to encourage this "exclusive" bullshit. They are absolutely making the right choice by letting Epic dig their own grave. Everytime Epic forces an exclusive, Steam's entire player base is 3x less likely to switch to Epic. It's not encouraging us to change. It's just making us hate them. And Gabe knows that. He doesn't have to fight. Epic is killing themselves. And the irony is Epic thinks they're making winning moves the whole time their stabbing themselves in the face.
Fucking bullshit, this finally happened to a game I wanted to play. Fuck you ubi, fuck you epic.
Literally the biggest improvement is that you can see the influence radios of buildings when in building mode. Apart from that it's almost exactly the same game as 5 which was almost exactly the same game as 4 which was almost exactly the same game as 3.
Imagine getting a 2 for 1 deal on absolute garbage launchers/stores.
5 was different than 3/4 (in bad ways)
>we don't want to do that ever again
>don't WANT to
the devil's in the details.
Yeah I remember playing 3 then 4 then wishlisting 5 and never buying it even on massive steam sales and not even paying attention to 6. The whole Tropico schtick is sort of a one-trick pony. They would have been better off using a long-term DLC model instead of sequels.
Is 1800 better than 2205?
2205 was shit
So yeah
yes. by a lot
The fun in Tropico is the humor and the campaign so if you like the humor it's worth buying the new games. If you just like the sandbox mode then it's not worth buying again and again.
>on China's Epic
immediate torrent
1404 and 2070 are the two best ones. 2070 is basically 1404 with a scfi skin.
I have to confess that I played a lot of 2205 and quite enjoyed it for reasons I don't understand myself
who pirating every single singleplayer "experience" Anno or Tropico here?
I got the game and all the DLC massively discounted on sale, and I had my fun with the game.
It was fine for a few hours but it just doesn't compare to 1404/2070. 1800 at least goes back to that format.
This, I don't think people see the big picture. If you buy a game that supports these kinds of practices you're saying that it works.
Personally I've just spent my money elsewhere because epic and the publishers/developers supporting epic don't need my money
>I played a lot of 2205 and quite enjoyed it for reasons I don't understand myself.
because instead of of sitting in the world map screen adjusting trade cargo volume every 5 minutes you were actually playing the game and building your city. all 2205 really changed besides it being futuristic was making the trade micro easy so you spend less time clicking up and down arrows on the warehouse screens and more time building a city. its just a shame it had so few ornaments.
>don't want it on Epic
>buy it on Steam now
>don't want it on Steam
>buy it on UPlay
>literally have all the options with plenty of time to decide
>still get mad that it's on the EGS
>not mad that it has double launcher bullshit with UPlay which you can not avoid
Just admit you're a Valve drone.
lightyears ahead
>2070 is basically 1404 with a scfi skin.
If you are brain damaged you forgot to add
I didn't get to play much of the beta. How does income work? I lose money through infrastructure, but gain it through population or something?
fuck off, epic. Your entire unit is a cunt.
How's the game's performance? Is it very CPU or GPU heavy?
is this shopped? looks freaky
its like any other builder where the larger and larger your city gets performance starts to take a hit. beta performance was kinda meh but it was beta afterall. even 1404 starts to tank when your city gets to be large enough
this pic is old, take a min to think
In the closed beta, the performance was actually pretty bad, seeing it going as low as 24fps maxed at 1080p on a 980ti in some situations (pic, upper left corner).
Thing is, in games like this you don't actually notice it as frame rate isn't super crucial to gameplay.
That said, there are also situation where the framerate went a good deal above 60 but Id say it averaged around 45.
i5 2500k, 6GB RAM, GTX670, was getting around 45-60 fps on medium (some options on high) in the beta.
The fact that it even runs on my potato is a miracle.
It's literally the same game.
People pay taxes based on social class and happiness. Supplement tax income by trading goods with NPCs, quests and now also tourism.
If this means no Uplay that's a good thing.
It's similar but not the same. 2070 was about solving global crises (or not). 1404 was about trade and dominance.
Hahahahaha
You still have to use Uplay.
same as 1404. citizens pay taxes and the more affluent they get the more income they generate. but this time around ornaments add culture to your city making it more affluent and attracting tourism. things like workforce and power return from the 2xxx games as well.
Imagine thinking the epic store is better than uplay
But the game is on Uplay anyway, so whats the big deal?
>2500k
>670 GTX
actually based
HUE
yeah right... I don't give as shit
you think I can run this with pic related?
i dunno man if you gpu can run at 511C it could probably handle any video game because its clearly powered by the very fires of hell itself.
Well chinks pirate everything do i guess ill just do the same thing with anything on their storefront
>Buying a UPlay game not directly on UPlay
What kind of retard would buy Ubisoft games from Steam or the Epic Game Store anyways?
Discounts tens to be bigger on steam for the most part. Key resellers are available for both Steam and Uplay. The only upside Uplay has is 20 percent off even for preorders. Steam has muh achievements I can share with my friend list.
I wonder how this will effect german sales, Anno is really fucking huge over there.
People without principles can't possibly understand those of us that have them.
>People without principles can't possibly understand those of us that have them.
>hur dur people that say hard things make me mad
1800 years until 4.0
Here's an article about it on a popular German news site with a bit over 250 comments. Just run the site through google translate. Overall, they are as happy about it as we are.
gamestar.de
Cringe
I wonder how many copies Epic agreed to buy beforehand so they can claim how artificially popular their store is.
The fucked up thing was this was supposed to be out in February and was delayed at the very last minute. Epic must of come in with their bag of fortnite/china money very recently.
How is this any different from launching it in Steam?
I swear, you retards worship Valve for no reason. It's literally a DRM store just like any other.
Protip: Valve doesn't give a fuck about you beyond your wallet.
lol cry harder bitch
Because pulling this shit less than a month before the game is out is a dick move.
I don't understand why Ubisoft games not being on steam matters at all. You still need Uplay, so who gives a fuck? This isn't even a big coup for Epic, if you want to play the game and don't want to give Chang shit just but it on Uplay.
newsflash: it's the same game no matter where you buy it and if you buy it on Steam you are fucking retarded because it's cheaper almost everywhere else
This, Epic should know better than to be ubisoft's bitch. the main reason why valve lets ubisoft's games be sold on steam is because that've been sold there for over 10 years at this point, epic has no excuse. As another user has said, ubisoft is taking advantage of epic's 12% cut to force as many people from both steam and epic to their own client.
literally the only reason I would rather buy games on steam is so I can use steam overlay to chat to friends while I play.
it's just annoying when you're in a game and hear chat messages so you have to alt+tab out and the game's a piece of shit that doesn't support alt+tabbing well and crashes.
You spelled "Saved" wrong
I lost all faith in the series after 2205.
That was a complete garbage fire and the only reason it wasn't railed on harder for being garbage is because nobody cares about Anno.
It was the equivalent of SimCity (2013).
I don't imagine 1800 would be any different.
If this was about cost and not principle people would just pirate it, or not buy it new and wait for it to go down in price as all games do
If epic did it to GoG people would be upset too, it isn't about only Steam
1800 is almost a carbon copy of 1404. It's not like future-Anno
They aren't 'doing it' to GoG. They are doing it to a game that's going to use uplay DRM no matter what. You lose absolutely nothing by it not being on Steam.
i play tropico(s), grand strats, total wars, and anno games
their genre niches are all a bit different from each other
And Bluebyte outdid themselves with 1800, release timing notwithstanding
Bluebyte seem like bros so it really sucks ubi pulled this shit on them. Lost game sales and misdirected backlash just because of epic's chinabux.
I lose absolutely nothing either way, I don't play any of the games on uplay or EGS.
You asked how is it different from launching on steam, the difference is It was going to launch on Steam and now come release date, the people that want to play it but don't pre-order it can play it on Steam.
Some people don't want to use the EGS and they think it is a dick move for the consumer to lose that option simply because the dev choose to run with the money from Epic.
Honestly, if you can't understand that then why do you care if people criticize EGS or not? it isn't like it affects you.
You don't have to use the Epic store. You can buy the game on a dozen different stores none of them involve you ever touching Epic store or the Epic launcher.
so was the beta any good?
you forgot age of wonders: planetfall and steel division 2
I was extremely impressed by it
Clearly better than 2070, likely a peer or even better than 1404, but i cant tell definitively yet because you couldn't upgrade your citizens past the halfway point
>You don't have to use the Epic store
Correct, I won't.
yes, very, but it was limited to the first 3 citizen levels so it is hard to tell how the endgame will be like in the final game.
Do people even think Eugen Systems unfucked steel division 1 enough to be interested in the sequel?
China always buys everything out so you have no choice but to install their malware
they know for a fact that Russians will buy any WW2 game featuring Russians
Even Russians must hate the finicky micromanagement in Steel Division.
