I wish I could play minecraft again for the first time, I hate the new world generator, the Biomes are alright but it's just souless 90% off the time, seeing alot of mountains all the exact same height (they are not that tall), they have snow on top of them because everything is trying to be more realistic. Trees and everything are following a 1000 rules of where things can grow or not. The world generator needs to be fixed.

Never got my fill of modded gameplay, so I set up a server with some forge mods for a few irl friends to play on.
1.10.2 IC2, Biomes o plenty, Lots of food, Grimoire of Gaia, LittleMaidreengaged, Mo' creatures, Treecapitator and Waystones.

was really fun back in 2011, played the absolute shit out of it. Especially hardcore PVP servers.
Account got hacked in like 2012 and didn't play again until recently on ps4, it's still quite a fun game honestly and is very addicting.

I personally think it's in a decent state right now. My biggest complain is the lack of content in the late game. In the last quite a few patches all they added was

As for mods it depends on what you want to add to the game. The only must have mod is Optifine but everything else is subjective.
You may want a mod that overhauls the world generation if you don't like the current one tho.

Already went downhill well before microsoft had anything to say about it. All updates after beta 1.5 were complete trash villages were the breaking point for me. Late alpha and early beta was the Minecraft golden age. Back when it was popular but not excessively so. It had enough features to make it unique but it's initial simplicity remained.

The Village And Pillage Update is an absolute joke, and so are the current developers. Everything comes so slow and we don't have the same amount of content a mod made by a fan could have.
The new villages are even worse than the previous one. Seriously, just look at the new houses they added. Sure, they are more detailled, but the inside, my god. How are the villages supposed to live in a 2x6 block house? And especially in one in which you CAN'T even jump, like your head is scratching the damn roof. The new skins for the villagers look like they come out of an edgy texture pack, I swear.
The new crafting system is nice. I'll give them that. But seriously, it took them 6 YEARS to figure out that we needed a new crafting system due to the amount of new items and blocks we were getting.
The new mobs. I have no words. The Pillagers are completely useless. You know who attacked the villagers at night by forcing their way through the doors and murdering every single one of them by eating their flesh ? The fucking Zombies. That's why they've been given the ability to break doors, to represent an actual danger to the villagers. They could have made new variations of Zombies, like making them more intelligent, having them wearing armor, or make their bases (which was the original point of the old dungeons)... Hell, just give em a boss, a leader or something. There were tons of mods which did what Mojang could have done easily. (On a side note, the Pillagers Outposts are terrible, I have no words to explain how ridiculous they look).
As for new animals... Wow, a panda. How original. They added him to pander to the Chinese Audience. And the only thing they do is react to their baby sneezing as a reference to a very VERY old meme. Even Half Life 1 had the balls to give the aliens some kind of a realistic and intersting behavior.
Microsoft just should have made the damn thing go Open Source, and they would have been done with it desu.

Still super fun to play with friends on a private server. Its just a shame you still have to play to go onto a private server which most games provide for free.

If you ever want a private minecraft server, use server.pro or some other server hosting platform because they will mostly cost less and give a lot more freedom and choice than realms do.

I liked it wayyyyy back in school when we could get 15+ kids we actually knew together to build stuff. Online play was a shit show where either everyone was a griefer or autistic control freaks who tried to boss you around into building their shit.

Single player was depressing, just biome after biome of nothing, maybe a pre built structure if you were lucky, but nothing to explore, no intelligent ai to interact with, no goals or computer friends. It was basically post apocalyptic lego.

I've played out my interest from the first days it came to Yea Forums as a free creative test and seen through indev, infdev and alpha.
I've seen many modpacks, but never really became a youtuber from it all. I did livestream a TFC pack for a month, but left that when I got my current job.

Now I'll move on to other games.

Combat was always dogshit, now it's just a different type of dogshit. Minecraft's main bread and butter is building cool shit, preferably with mods like Chisel, Quark, and Chisel and Bits.

I didn't say anything about hunger. In fact, I barely care about the hunger system as it's easily disabled if it becomes cumbersome. No, the real reason I hate 1.8 so much is because of how the fucked the world gen, and how they changed direction on what the game's about - trying to make it some kind of half-assed RPG with extremely poorly implemented mechanics, instead of focusing on what made the game good to begin with: the creativity and worlds.

imo the game always has, and still has, absolute dogshit combat. It has never been fun in any way, and many aspects of it are horrendously broken thanks to shitty code (probably most obvious is how knockback works - short answer: it just doesn't work)

I think that alone and depressing feeling is what got me into it at first with early alpha. That's when world generation made you weird landscapes with floating islands with waterfalls and impossibly long cliffs and overhangs and shit. It was like a fantastical although very minimal world that was fun to explore, but then the loneliness set in, and next thing you know it's night and shit is trying to kill you. The early music was very somber too. It made me feel like I was just trying to build to survive. I got bored of it after a few months and haven't played in years, but the feel of it made an initial 8/10 impression on me.
