I agree with 1. Maybe upping the damage or attack speed when your in the circle would help greatly to promote staying in it. That, or just do ROR1 style where once the boss dies enemies stop spawning.
Hell you could even make it so if the boss dies and your not in the circle for a set amount of time you lose a mini buff that is given at the end of that stage or something.

Yeah you still take damage in his R if they have the flame effect. I've just resorted to hit and run or killing them by aoe or proc damage. Just ignore them.
It's literally the first class I unlocked. Just keep playing until a portal appears, it takes you to a weird platforming level, at the end of which is an obelisk. Use that to end the game and unlock the merc.

Its also far less tedious than the first one, scaling is super manageable. The status effect of your m1 doesn't update while firing. If you use an item like the crit hud to get temporary 100% crit, then when it wears off you will still have the crit on your m1 until you stop firing. It can also work against you too because if you're firing your weapon and get a buff it won't apply until you stop firing.

Glass Shard (deal more damage but have less health) is a lunar item, you need lunar coins that sometimes drop from enemies and persist through runs. you either need to get lucky and find a lunar item chest and pay 1 coin for a random item, or pay 1 coin for guaranteed shop area then 2 coins for a random but visible item
