One thing about DmC is how stiff all the animations are, but I can't quite put my finger on why. It's like different animations just snap to each other without anything in between. If you shoot your guns immediately after doing a melee attack you'll see what I mean.

it was the best action game made in the west, much much better than for example the old GoW games

The fight against that fox news guy was pretty good, but that's really the only thing about the game that stood out to me.

I will say that in the definitive edition, the combat can be a bit satisfying, albeit extremely easy. And there are a few level designs (like raptor news) that are pretty cool. But that guy's a retard. The worst part about the game is how forgettable almost everything is

capcom made DMC3 with 2 years after 2. it's been ~6 years since NG3 and they still haven't made a good entry. not to mention 2 didn't come close to 1, even if it was still a pretty decent game.

See, if DmC actually played out like a Mexican soap opera like this video I would've actually bought it even if the combat is mediocre. Add an "OLÉ!" every time you do a perfect dodge and it would've been perfect. At least that would've set the game apart, you know? As it stands right now the original DmC is just lackluster. It's not a particularly enjoyable action game with its lack of lock-on and color-coded enemies, its story is not nearly as deep and amazing as it thinks it is, the characters are unlikable, the platforming is so simple it might as well not be there, and the dynamic environments end up not doing very much for gameplay. The music is surprisingly OK though. It's an astoundingly mediocre game.

1 and 2 are pretty damn short. you can beat it in one night if you have a handful of hours.
2 I played purely to see if it was as bad as everyone said it was, and it still surprised me in how bad it is. that said I think it's worth it just to see it for yourself and to see how far they went to make 3 what it is in comparison.

I kinda want to go back for the extra characters, but I think it'll just be a waste of time. unless I got extremely lucky the webms are how the AI reacts 90% of the time, and bosses are basically shoot until you build up DT so you can just shoot some more but deal ridiculous damage. and it's not really because it's the easy way to fight; there's one fight where the enemy is in the air the entire time and you have no moves for your sword outside of DT, you only have helm breaker and high time.
good luck 1 is good game, just slower paced, not as much variety, and has handful of annoying sections the first time around. it's worth replaying to get to the higher difficulties though.

Everything was hand animated, so there are no procedural created transitions (or they are very poorly done).
This is easiest to see by running around then stopping. If you stop and do nothing, Donte's coat will flow smoothly to a stop. If you start shooting instead, Donte's coat snaps into place.

Sure he wasn't the big bad at the top, but for 2/3 of the movies he WAS the antagonist. He was what the heros were doing battle with, not the emperor

As much as I find that part funny, in retrospect I think it made sense for him to see if he was human or not. The one thing I cannot fathom is why they chose to explore his 'human' side and barely acknowledge his half angel part. It's like they didn't want to ditch the idea of half angel-half demon but still wanted the game to reflect on the human heritage of the original franchise, of which he has none of.

This game can't decide on a theme to save their lives. They had two fucking dodge buttons for each half of Donte, but can't make a distinction of why some bosses give you demon weapons and why some give you angel weapons. As a matter of fact, when Donte touches Eva's painting it gives him a demon weapon when it should have given him an angel one.

But thank god they had Kat in there to show Donte his human side.

To this day I'm not sure why people always bring up art style or level design in DmC's favor. I mean it's just disjointed landscapes suspended in light blue/orange that you jump to or grapple towards.
I always thought of such comments as pity towards ninja theory.

As someone who hadn't played any DMC games but decided to pirate it to see what all the butthurt was about, I thought it was ok but not something that really left any real impression. Now that I've actually had some exposure to the series and understand the utter contempt the devs had for fans, I completely understand why it's so reviled though.

Its objectively wrong to put NG3 especially Razor's Edge which is really good game with the same category as DmC.

All this shit made me want an alternate universe DMC where Dante got caught by Mundus at an early age and blacked or just a clone to fuck with Nero or something with Westley Snipes' face as a base. And Dan would finally get to voice a protagonist. I don't know why but i feel like it could be extremely cheesy in a good way. On top of being a chance to do a slightly trashy Dante to show ninja theory how it's done. Repeat during almost every cutscene how they're identical twins. Vergil unlocks SIN DT which has scales and shit and basically makes him look like a dinosaur.

At the start of the game, Kat says that if Dante, in Limbo, were to shoot Kat, in the real world. She'd die. And she was able to fire bomb the Hunter in the real world.

The climax of the hideout raid is soldiers are coming to kill/destroy everyone and Dante can't do anything because he's in Limbo, and can't interact with the Soldiers.

I should've been clearer. What I mean is that I would've preferred it as a spinoff with its own original story. So basically, scrap the entire story aping DMC1 and 3 while keeping its own edgy style (music) and aesthetic (visuals).
