Why was Sony never able to get a super popular FPS flagship franchise like Microsoft?
Why was Sony never able to get a super popular FPS flagship franchise like Microsoft?
Most kiddies had xbox 360.
Gears and halo were the best at their respective genres
But PS3 ended up selling almost as good as 360 user.
No talent
Sony is shit
Totally agree with this. Microsoft was lucky to get two amazing franchises that cover both the FPS and TPS genre. Plus they had a great sci-fi world on top of that. But then they fucked it all up.
PS3 sold better in the long run.
How come Sony doesn't have an official mascot like Nintendo or Sega?
Toro and Koro
>Halo was the best fps
Why would you think that?
Halo started during the time people were fascinated by epics and Sci fi. The series combines both not to say the first entries were amazing in its single player and multi player parts. Kind of hard not to beat that. Sony couldn't that or they could have but Guerrila had mediocre writers and Imsoniac well Resistance was more heavy on its story side.
I'm convinced this is it. They sell games on marketing hype and graphics primarily. Most of their franchises are soulless with the depth of a puddle. Thankfully it doesn't always work at least. The Order was at least panned for being the shit that it is even though it seemed like typical shit Sony peddles to me anyways.
*Kuro
Xbox does as well if you count Chief.
Magazines told me Killzone 2 and 3 were really good, but I really hated both. Nothing in those games was fun to shoot.
They do, Toro & Kuro were voted two of Japan's 20 favorite gaming characters in 2010
Well, let's take Resistance and Killzone as examples.
The first games were solid with good functional gimmicks that enhanced the game.
The sequels to both games dropped all of that in favor of being more generic. They were both horrible because of this and many other extremely poor decisions.
Thus, by the time the third games came along, the damage was done and the franchise collapsed.
The PS3 had a strange way of having the worst examples of their franchises on it.
This but unironically.
This, if you look at all of their system sellers, only one of them was made by them
> Final Fantasy (Square)
> Grand Theft Auto (Rockstar)
> Kingdom Hearts (Square)
> Metal Gear Solid (Konami)
> Resident Evil (Capcom)
> Gran Turismo (Sony)
> Call of Duty (Activision)
> Fifa (Electronic Arts)
They were both good but flawed games. The whole series in general just needed better direction. The fact that it started off on a mediocre to average at best game also didn't do it favors.
They did. They had it in the bag too. SOCOM was wildly popular on the PS2.
There’s no luck. They saw talent and bought it. Or rented it in epics case.
They probably could have made Nathan drake their mascot with a little better work, and not being such an idiot with that soldier woman
The real question is why did Microsoft squander their?
Resistance had a pretty solid setting but everything else was bad, the gunplay was bad, the characters were unoriginal, the story sucked and the sequels were trash.
I hope one day Sony revives it even if they turn it into a movie
Hey everyone did you forget me?
>killzone 1
>good
It may have not been the worst game of all time but lets not pretend it was a good game. It probably wasn't even a decent game.
Yes
Cowadooty made enough money
Most I see say Resistance 3 was the best one though.
I remember this game. I had a friend in high school who was a playstation owner and he was so hyped for it. He was convinced it was going to be a Halo Killer and that Sony would get their star shooter. Then one day he came sulking into the lunch room and said that IGN gave the game a 4/10. I'd never seen someone look that dejected before.
Japan doesn't care for FPS
