The hitbox reacts differently depending on whether you jump or dodge. Grab attack from requires a jump and this grab requires a dodge. Some attacks need you to keep distance or you're fucked - webm related. How different? The hitbox becomes a lot smaller so even if you fuck up you will most likely get out of the trouble.

My method is to oil the ape up and flame vent him until you have around 8 emblems left (depends on if you have the skill tree buffs) in the first phase for ez cheez, while sprinting and jumping around like a madman to get headshots. Every one of his first phase attacks can be jumped out of and land you in a good spot for hits. Then second phase is a matter of watching your posture, parry his pokes and when he pauses for the big poke rush at him so he can't hit you with the final hit for more combos. Then just use your 8 emblems when you absolutely need to for the umbrella if you can't get out of the roar and get a big free hit at the end.

DS3 had partial hitboxes for many grabs, so unless the grab hit you head on, you'd only get chip damage from dodging it "nearly perfectly"

But what I see wrong is the reoccurring movement problem enemies have in these games where they are just allowed to swivel on the spot, changing the direction they are facing and the trajectory of the weapon swing/thrust/throw while they are performing that action.
Look at the webm, the first thrust of the grab is performed while facing the rock and it only ends up connecting on the pull because the enemy spun about 180 degrees on the spot with no animation for doing so, it looks absolutely broken.

Grabs in DS3 and BB have bad tracking compared to actual attacks though, they ban barely do 45-60 angles while you can roll past the enemy, do an instant 180 due to the lock on and backstab them.

Fuck you. The game specifically tells you to dodge away from grabs. Sweeps are the attacks you're meant to jump over.

I dunno if I'd call it broken exactly. It's something the player character is entirely capable of doing as well, I think it evens the playing field by allowing enemies to swivel too. Hell in the first Dark Souls there was tech around dead angling for pvp, which is from what I remember using the character swivel mid animation to hit the sweet spot around a shield.

Sprinting is actually super useful in fights. Probably the one thing I feel like sets Sekiro apart from the Souls games the most, but it's still oddly appropriate for a game where you play a ninja.
In none of the Souls games could you effectively fight enemies by running literal circles around them at high speeds or have interesting circle chase action scenes.

Honestly moving away from the dodge iframes and adding posture was an absolutely brilliant move.
Besides, on a somewhat non-combat related matter, the heightened stealth focus of the game makes it feel a lot like Tenchu, which I love. Tenchu was amazing, and to be frank so is Sekiro. Best stealth and best action game in ages.
Probably less least linear than all the Souls games too, and it has by far the best use of verticality and the best movement options for platforming.

It really feels like a game that respects the player too, and doesn't baby them with easy modes or cheap paths to overwhelming power.
The game is relatively hardcore from the very beginning, and it's up to the player to learn the mechanics and get good, and if they don't they'll suffer. Basically, learn the game if you want to play it and it trusts the player to do so which is amazing.

I don't even like the feudal Japan crap, but I love Sekiro.

I love how you can cheese almost everything in the game. But then you have to fight Genichiro and the cheese stops there. And then your daddy comes along and forces you to git gud.

And then when you start a new game you don't even need the cheese at all.

Ahhh i see, i'm not that far in this game yet since I can only play sparingly after work but i've noticed in this game that if you dodge too early enemies can actually change the attack direction to where you've moved so you need to time it just right when they're fully committing to the move and properly dodge out of attack range.

I kinda get that you have to jump and then hit attack but does it only work on certain enemy air moves or something? Because I cant seem to trigger this when they do their air flip shuriken move.

it's somewhat arbitrary for what counts

basically it won't work on any small jumps/hops, only ones where they go quite high into the air.

The grab has an animation at the end where you get pulled in by the gun, that's the actual grab. What do you retards want, to just walk left or right with no timing and dodge every grab move in the game?

iframes are tied to how filled your posture bar is.
The less posture damage you took, the more iframes you'll have.
