try parry
hes one of the easier mini bosses. you can LITERALLY mash block and jump whenever you see the kanji
>perfect parry every single hit
>get one hit in
>he just does it again
take one of those antiposture candies and parry the shit out of him. also use oil+flame barrel
UH UH UH UH
What the fuck is that name?
Or just use firecrackers
I keep saying that nigga hates firecrackers
>perfect parry every single hit
Then he uses his sweep and you mario step on his head
repeat once more and he's dead
What? I don't have that prompt. Is that an ability I don't have?
go listen to everything the immortal samurai in the dilapidated temple says
le whacky gooks and their masterpiece games haha xD
based from based japan
I thought this was a fucking stupid fight too. I beat him by stepping in, letting him cornering me, parrying every hit, jump his crit, then execution. Literally never touched the analog stick.
honestly though why is Yea Forums so fucking bad at video games? Its borderline satire at this point
Every parry breaks his poise somewhat. Also remember to goomba stomp when he does the red attack. Repeat this until he is dead. Probably the third easiest boss in the game
>What is umbrella shield
i did it thanks fags
Good job beating the parry tutorial
what prompt
just parry all his attacks til he tires himself out and you can stab him in the heart. Jump off his head when he does the perilous attack sweep finisher. His attacks are just a barrage of hits with the same timing
when enemies do a sweep attack double jumping on them gives them huge posture damage. This shit is not explained anywhere and I found out by accident. Its dumb
Yea Forums used to be good at vidya. In the beforetimes.
Sekiro is a rhythm game
Mistranslation of kirin
Wrong.
I guess that makes sense, but you'd think that someone who translates Japanese for a living would know that kirin has multiple meanings.
>being a retard who ignored the tutorials
Giraffe in japan are sometimes called Kirin, which are a mythical horned beast mentioned across east Asian cultures that likely originated with Giraffes that were bought from Somalians during the Ming Dynasty.
The japanese version of the beast is typically a deer like animal with bird legs.
It might be a long shot, but I think this boss is more rightly meant to be named Long-arm centipede kirin based on how those back structures resemble antlers.
>"We want Japanese Souls but not Souls"
>make counter attacks more important than dodging
>"Ok cool now make enemies require it for instant kills"
>"Oh hey also let's get rid of i-frames for dodging since counter attacks matter"
>"Also lets have giant ogre bosses with massive hitboxes that grab you and you can't parry them so you HAVE to dodge them!"
What the fuck were they thinking? Genuine question.
>ogre has unavoidable grab move
You don't even have to perfect parry this guy. Just spam guard when he does a flurry attack, back up, regain posture, repeat.
his name in the jp version is the hiragana for jirafu
I thought I was retarded, but it's actually unavoidable right? How the fuck am I supposed to avoid damage when I can't counter it and am expected to dodge it with no i-frames?
I'm actually angry I waited two years for this.
press and hold dodge to run away. just run in and bait moves then move in to get hits in
He clearly telegraphs every grab and is left vulnerable after you miss. I got him stuck in a dive-grab loop and it was awesome. Just don't get so close. Dodge backwards twice and you're out of his range.
>press and hold dodge
Nigger I'm getting grabbed mid-dodge how the fuck am I supposed to run?
There's no delay between dodging and running, just run move your stick in the direction that he isn't, press and hold dodge and you'll use jojo's secret technique.
>It might be a long shot,
Apparently From doesn't pay attention to the localization so you're probably wrong. The game just seems full retard.
Literally nothing you said was true. You can kill bosses without counters by dodging and whittling down their vitality. And dodges do have iframes, same with jumps.
Jump. Most attacks in this game can be avoided with jumps.
>waiting 2 years for a game that's going to be hard 100%
>it's hard and you die to a literal trash mob
>"REEEEEEEEEE"
LOL
Firecrackers destroy this guy. Why does no one suggest using them?
>b-but firecrackers are cheesy!
This guy is a beast enemy, he’s supposed to be weak to the firecrackers.
How the fuck did you get this far into the game and be so useless that you can't even tap your parry button a few times. It tells you in the fucking loading screen, consecutive parrys deplete their posture faster.
And you, you stupid little fucker, every single one of Ogre's attacks are avoidable and EASILY avoidable at that. Look at this fucking video you dumb wench. youtube.com
he is probably the easiest miniboss in the game. you parry his attack chain then jump kick him when the warning mark appears.
>Giraffe
>It's not a Giraffe
What?
Because nobody gives a fuck to use them against mini boss that can be killed in thirty seconds by just parrying.
holy hell you're retarded
Reminds me of that spongebob moment when Patrick calls an elephant a giraffe. Someone should make an edit.
holy fucking hell you guys are retarded
A beast enemy? He looks like some kind of weird human. How would anyone guess he's a beast type?
dude if you think that one's a joke wait until there's no rafters and a 5x5 room to fight one in the gun fort
>enter that room
>see guy sperging toward me, chad runner
>do a 180
>there's a fog wall
>mfw on the left
Sorry the game has up until this point led me to believe that you have to time the parries and that just mashing the parry button won't work.
My OP still stands. This boss is still a joke but for different reasons
?
this is right behind the gun fort
mashing l1 narrows down the deflect window. rhythmically tapping will always be easier.
Never mind he’s not a beast type. Whatever, it worked.
Like a joke because its literally the easiest mini boss in the game?
Because yeah.
I wonder if his hand feet stink haha
>there are actually people who didnt beat the giraffe on their first try
timing the parries is easy as fuck
it's like the world's easiest guitar hero song. just keep a beat and double jump when you see the DANGER sign
>L1 10 times
>jump on top of him as he charges afterwards
>don't even have to attack, the guy literally just kills himself
Honestly, these clowns and Ashina elites are the biggest joke in the game
The guy doesn't exactly look like a Reginald
>Yet another 'THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE' post with yet another image clearly taken from google and not an in-game screenshot
I honestly don't know if it's shills, soulsfags sniffing their own farts or just newfags desperately trying to fit into board culture at this point.
why is your guy called long-arm centipede giraffe? for me it was called long-arm centipede sen'un
>Long-arm Centipede Giraffe
There's two of them, like every other miniboss in this game it's reused.
>xD
You have to go back
I'm having trouble getting fucking anywhere in this game, i seem to be stuck in the same three places, the dream, the castle, the outskirts, and sengou temple, i've done everything here i can find, i just did genichiro last night after googling i have to jump out of the window but nothing i google will tell me how to get anywhere else, i know im missing a monkey place!
Every mechanic is explained. There's an NPC who fucking spars with you and has a lesson for each one.
yes. there is a second one later on, still funny.
Try exploring castles roof.
yeah it's a joke boss, 20 second per phase just mash L1.
that first bird dude you come across from a kite scared the shit out of me
easiest boss in the game. seriously
More importantly how do I bring myself to playing Dark Souls now? I really lost any interest in those games, planed a replay, I just can't it doesn't click anymore.
>There are actually people who had trouble with O'rin
Can't believe you guys are so shit lmao.
His actual name is "Giraffe"
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i only have 10 fingers. claw grip seems fuckin important and still struggle with managing items from a dpad, while also having fingers left over for jumping, dodging, using my arm and parrying.
play on kb, didn't have any trouble for whole game on mouse+kb
Press L1 a bunch then when he does the perilous jump and mash R1, do this like twice and you win.
>and mash R1
why does everyone do it? you need to double jump on those, it's biggest posture damage.
i'm on console and wish i waited a few more days for my parts to come in. the framerate is also fuckin terrible. worse than BB
wait what. you can goomba stomp enemies for posture damage off the bat or is there a skill?
i'm still on the drunk and chained ogre because i have been a bit busy
If you mean the short range grab where he slams your ass, he does that to punish you for getting greedy. If you sit on him mashing R1 he'll throw it out.
I thought that was genichiro.
Its hilarious that half of Yea Forums thinks there are no i-frames in Sekiro, when both jumping and dodging have them. Sekiro is the easiest From game once you get adjusted to the deflection system.
>tfw stuck on the ape boss
>tfw not really committing to beating him too hard because i just really dont want this game to be over
>tfw just randomly teleportation around and killing normal enemies
Please tell me I'm not almost done with the game
Nowhere near.
It depends on how many other bosses you've done. You are likely about half way done.
It's about 2/3 of the game if you haven't already been in Mibu village, of course
jump kicks are probably one of the most busted things in the game. If you ever see an enemy charge up a wide swipe or if you're fighting anything ninja-like, just kick them in the head. For some reason, ninjas are super weak to head kicks.
there is still a few minibosses, best area in the game and 4 real bosses that are harder than ape
also 2 other ending bosses that are harder than ape, make the right choice on the top.
Jump actually has i-frames on it, dodge doesn't
actually I lied thee is 6 more bosses if you make the right choice.
Dodge has i-frames. Go test it out.
yeah double jump stomp is inherent. it barely does anything though unless enemy is in the red sweep that you have to jump over. lots of enemies have strikes that fuck you over if youre in the air near them. so really its only good for some posture damage at sweeps and to spam some specific arts from jump at some specific enemies.
If you think it's bad now just wait until the inevitable Orphan equivalent in the DLC comes along.
it doesn't. it depends what enemy attack uses, for example jumping from owl kills you
from what I can see vs sword enemies at least hitboxes are real precise, so jumping from attack feels like iframes but you simply move away from a sword slash
By not being in range nigga
Sprint>Dodge was like day 1 shot in Nioh. Not that hard to figure out in this game either, you have infinite mobility for everything except boss OP posted. fucking use it.
O Rin get's absolutely wrecked when you jump kick her, just wait and see
When did Voldo get into a From game?
dodge doesn't have iframes in souls sense, there are attacks you can dodge (genchiro arrows, some swords slashes) where sekiro leans to ground when you ddoge
well maybe it's technically iframes, but it doesn't works vs all slashes, and specially grabs
She's also extremely weak to poison
every other boss is a joke compared to the two hardest bosses in the game which guard their respective endings so dont worry.
youre about 2/3 in id say counting difficulty spike, if you will blaze through areas and bosses (you wont) then 3/4.
I'm positive dodge has iframes right at the start. I dodge into a lot of things to slash their back and it works really well so far.
Flame vent fliniches hin way better when the burn procs, easy to get in on the jump. Then you go in with the prosthetic master skillet and the flame attacks wreck him before he knows what's what.
You can dodge into strikes if you time it well enough, assuming the attack's active frames are shorter than your i-frames.
that's weird, she's a ghost
it's a posture boss, nail timing for deflect and she kills herself it's somewhat harder giraffe
literally the easiest miniboss
yeah, but sekiro leans on the screen to them so it's not like souls when attacks hits character but does nothing, it's actually avoided on screen
so I don't know if you can call it iframes in general sense
They're nips not gooks you fucking idjut
not sure about grabs but it sure works against all slashes. timing is really tight and you dont ever want to dodge a slash anyway but i remember me dodging literally through a 4 meter sword on multiple occasions. it has iframes. some grabs have insane tracking so dont know how that would work, maybe theyll just track at you again after iframes.
It's just his name, like the one in senpou being named Sen'un.
Nah, it has real i frames. Have you fought the flak cannon guys? You can dodge into the spread and not get hit.
the only broken grab is ogre I think, pretty sure they will patch it
everything else is telegraphed well enough
It's a counter move for the sweep kind of perilous attack, like the mikiri is for thrust attacks
camera feels too close sometimes
you can dodge into bullets and arrows too
that's my point sekiro at that moment leans to the ground for a sec if you time it for dodge
shotgun guys shoot in the arc, not circle
From simply setup it that way for dodges to feel real, guess it is iframes, but I like this system very much I couldn't stand becoming a ghost in souls to magically evade everything
ah also when you dodge into huge swords, character goes under the arms, not into the sword
From finally using modern tech for these things.
The i-frames you have with a given movement option are dependent on the attack itself. Some incoming attacks will be generous with jumps but purposefully be harsh with dodges. This is especially true with grabs.
O'rin was annoying because I went to her far, far too early. After two hours, I had her entire AI and moveset memorized and beat her into the ground but fuck that fight. Doing that shit without upgrades or confetti was a pain in the ass. She's not even hard--like half the fucking time your posture finally breaks she just goes for the grab that you can hop away from.
Wrong, jap version says ギラフ
>ape phase 2
>dude just parry the big overhead for big posture damage
>only overhead i could see was the gigantic leap that i managed to parry once to knock him down but it's too risky
>people meant a special overhead it only does if you deflect the last hits of one of his combos, which i never did
>instead run around the arena and used hit n run tactics
i'm almost tempted to use a CE table to revive the boss and see how much easier phase 2 is if i do this
He's easy.
>parry, parry, parry, parry, parry.... jump
>again
>stab to death
>run around the arena and used hit n run tactics
But why? By this point you should've learned that the name of the game is parry
>i'm almost tempted to use a CE table to revive the boss and see how much easier phase 2 is if i do this
Oh you won't need to
Phase 2 will stumble if you parry the last hit of his big combo or the one where he becomes the space needle. Parry those and you can do the spear thing.
you can fight him again. he is past snakeyes in poison lake if you defeated normal ape
it's already in headless state, without water it is really easy to deflect everything
Just whistle bro
What fucking game do you think you're playing? If there's an attack you deflect it. You deflect normal attacks, you mikiri deflect thrusts, you jump deflect swiping attacks, you deflect fucking everything. You don't need to do anything else in this fucking game. If there's an attack, you deflect it.
I'm not there at NG+ but what shenanigans can you do with whistle? Can you get an ape v ape cage match?
no, but you can turn monkey crowd into chaos ball
>why not deflect
i tried the first couple of times but his moves are weird as fuck and he does a lotta damage so i got discouraged and switched to blazing bull tactics.
by the end i learned how to recognize his 4hit stabs and his 5hit swipes as well as the lunge but i didn't think of going back to parrying.
i realize it was my fault but the way he just spins around like a marionette is pretty confusing at first
Poor monkeys. I try to avoid killing them as much as possible.
Dodge has i-frames but not many
Jump has no real i-frames but some attacks are specifically designed to not hit jumping regardless of where the animation is to make avoiding them more consistent, most sweeps are like this. But you'll never avoid an attack that isn't a sweep by jumping other than by just getting out of the way of the hitbox.
You beat the boss though. Just try it next time.
I beat him earlier today. I agree his movements are really weird, he also punishes you for staying too close with the roar. Almost all his attacks go low so I just jumped over to approach.
this. his arms aren't even that long
>There are people that had trouble with Owl when Jerma beat him first try ON STREAM
>whistle the 2kat white monkey
>he kills all the monkeys around him pretty much unscathed.
>wrecks my shit harder than any of the bosses
Why is this monkey stronger than genichiro? No trades, he blocks it all. Tried deflecting and his posture doesnt seem to care. Only been able to damage it with flame blast or by stunning with long spark first.
2kat monkeys op as shit
Where do you think Genichiro learned his moves?
>mashing l1 narrows down the deflect window
[citation needed]
Why is this meme propagating? You can literally win the game by smashing L1 repeatedly with no consequence.
I was really close to first-try owl(1) but my controller got fucked up and I got stuck walking forward right near the end of stage 2
But it was right after getting hit by the anti-heal bomb for the first time, since I'd avoided all the other times and I thought it was just an effect on the move so I didn't think to pause and unfuck things and just kept playing waiting for it to end and got him about half way through his last healthbar by just deflecting everything and using mist raven. Then I died and respawned and started walking forward at the idol and felt like a colossal retard and had to go outside for a minute
you mean the guy that tried to sidestep and parry the bull for a good 30 minutes?
i never followed any steam and i remember him from his tf2 days, but i never saw him so pissed off thanks to him getting walled by the bull and the seven spears guy
>ManlyTears
>plz respond
Every time.
IIRC the loading screens have a blurb that misinforms you.
That, and it is explicitly stated in the information booklet they gave to reviewers/streamers/"influencers"
>no i-frames
Stop with this retarded meme already.
There are iframes. Dodging is the intended way of getting out of grab moves. But it can also be used against normal attacks. You're just likely to get hit by the next one, if the enemy's doing a combo, which would otherwise be interrupted by a parry.
Single big hits that cost a lot of posture to even parry? Those you can dodge just fine and counter attack the enemy while he's recovering.
Playing it with the original japanese he doesnt have nearly such a retarded name
Also that makes sense now, because I wondered why Isshin has a fuckton of antlers in jars in his pad
Yea Forums is filled with casuals that watch gameplay videos on YouTube and think that constitutes as actually playing the game
Yes there are, dingus. I dodge through Owl's chase slash and Isshin's 360 spear spin just fine. It's just the perilous swipe attacks specifically ignore iframes.
I think it's one of those words that people just know what it means and can't be translated into another language well.
It's odd that this information keeps propagating, especially since Vaati himself says to L1 spam.
inb4 e-celeb clusterfuck
>You can literally win the game by smashing L1 repeatedly with no consequence.
do you have any video to prove that? please provide evidence, because it doesn't work that way for me
Oh there's i-frames but it's a much smaller window than dark souls. You literally have to get it perfect to dodge the Ogre
Here's one
Well other than the fact that your posture drains faster when you are blocking and you cannot be guard broken if you deflect even if your posture is maxed.
>Uses attacks and dodges to preposition
>Literally gets spanked for mashing 2 min in
>This is also all on the easiest boss
Nah he clearly knows the bosses movement and attacks and still almost losses
That's not just a mindless L1 spam, that's how you normally beat the boss, deflecting his attacks and attacking yourself when he's open
Ogre is just a really bad case of vacuum hitboxes.
But Juzou's grab for example is easily thrown off by even an early dodge. But if you try to jump away, he will still home onto you. I think the step dodge has a property that lets it disrupt the enemy's tracking. Although if you're still in the hitbox by the time your iframes end, you'll get grabbed all the same. Like with the Ogre and Snake Eyes. So against those two it's better to always dodge back rather than to the side, so you'd have the safety net of spacing in addition to iframe timing.
>The boss that never loses posture is a good example
>Moving goal posts
You can also use the spear prosthetic on phase 2 after you parry the giant hit that knocks him over. It pulls out the centipede and does a fuckload of posture damage.
Loading screen tips
>When your game loads in 2 seconds on the SSD
Not everyone's playing on a PC. Getting screenshots from a console is bothersome.
Cut me some slack. I'm not on my PC and I don't have recording software, but you can literally L1 spam on bosses that Yea Forums cries about. That's how I beat Ashina Elite, Centipede Giraffe, and that ninja in the well.
That's how he loses posture, user. By deflection.
My two cents on the L1 spam argument:
It will likely get you posture broken trying to deflect delayed heavy hits and ultimately blocking them instead.
But the multi-hit combo attacks that don't get interrupted by deflecting them are usually fast enough on their own, so simply mashing L1 roughly matches their swings, so it results in parrying most if not all hits in the combo.
I'm not a console peasant, my load times are 3-4 seconds.
You can't get your posture broken when deflecting, even when your posture bar is maxed out.
Elite and Centipede are exactly that. Idk how you did ninja with his unshockable, poison and knockback
The goal post was that you can win the game by spamming L1, Try doing this shit with the mandatory mini-bosses, great ape or Owl
I know. That's why I'm saying that spamming L1 on the attacks that you have to actually time carefully will result in a guard, not a deflect, as opposed to spamming L1 against fast multi-hit attacks. Did you even read my post?
Giraffe is his actual name, long arm centipede is his title
try NG+ you fags, this is where the real game begins.
Just blocking actually damages you, and you lose shitload of posture even when parrying.
NG is just learning the game, NG+ is actually playing it.
Not really sure what that has to do with his statement. He is saying you have a high chance of miss timing heavy attacks by mashing, however on multi hit combos mashing as hard as you can is legit. I honestly dont know what people want, the game would be impossible if you could not press deflect really fast when you are getting hit with a barrage of 5 sword swings in the span of 2 seconds
>Did you even read my post?
I probably just misunderstood you, but I've never had the game misread my deflect for a defend.
I have had it plenty of times. When you deflect one attack and then don't time the 2nd deflect right you will get a block. Best example is monk swings, you press block and then just tap around each spin, if you press it wrong you will just block. You probably aren't very far into the game you fucking scrub
Try spamming L1 against the heavy attacks with long-ass wind-up times, like the spear general twirl, purple ninjas jump kick, ape's vertical slam etc. There's a good chance you will guard those instead of deflecting.
But Genichiro's floating passage-like combo can be mostly parried by simply mashing L1. Because it hits about as fast as you can press the button. So it syncs together automatically.
Wow arbitrary things to make the game "le hard"
>that english
also god damn this game needs a boss rush.
>spamming L1 on predictable attacks with wind-ups
>get hit
Has literally never happened to me and I'm on NG++. Just git gud fags, unless you're on console and you have lag then there's no hope for you
SASUGA Yea Forums
>NG+
>Just blocking actually damages you
Only if you give back Kuro his protective amulet.
I just beat NG+ yesterday. It was much easier than my first playthrough actually. I only got dragonrot twice, and the first time was guaranteed for story reasons, to unlock for you the mechanic to cure it. The second time was on the final boss.
I really should've made a back up save though. Because I unlocked both new endings, and I thought I could reload my post-game file and do the final boss again for a different one.
Oh well, no biggie. I'll just do the other one on NG++ and I plan to use the Demon Bell with no charm for that playthrough.
I'll do Shura on a different file though. Feels like you miss on too many memories and as a result attack power. Shura will be a throwaway save file.
Whatever you say internet master gamer guy
"arbitrary" things which fundamentally work into the combat flow of the game and changes the way you approuch bosses, expecting you to put what you have learned in NG to a proper test.
This is by far the best NG in any fromsoft game and I wish you could chose NG+ mechanics in a regular NG to be honest cause it greatly enhances replayability more than people expected.
But sure go on and meme "le hard" while complaining about how easy the game is apparently when just spamming L1.
>39 hours
>all endings
Savescummer.
The block thing literally doesn't matter because you can just spam L1
>Best NG+
>No new boss moves
>No new enemies
>New new items
Trash
The game's short as fuck.
>Moving goal posts
>believing that screenshot
It's been posted before. Anyone can have it.
>I wish you could chose NG+ mechanics in a regular NG
Demon Bell
I posed it, thats why it has the same file name. If I had saved it, it would have had Yea Forums's weird filename
(^:
>user doesn't even know how to change a file name.
tiananmen square
You have to use the whole thing for the spell to work:
Beijing Tiananmen Square protests of 1989
>Someone took my image
>Then pressed save
>Then moved the window to check the name of the file
>Then they made sure to copy that
>All of this because they are playing 4D chess and saw this exact situation happen
Lel
I'll concede if you just retake the image with less cropping.
>user: Images saved from Yea Forums have a different filename, therefore it is literally impossible for me to pretend to be someone else.
>Gets called out.
>user tries to deflect from the fact that he forgot how to change filenames by saying no one would bother to do so.
He's piss easy, just overwhelming on your first try or two.
>parry parry parry
>his posture gets raped faster than R1 attacks
DUDE just parry
all gooks are gooks, stupid mutt
>it tells you on the loading screen
my game loads too fast
>getting surprised at bad attempts at deflecting in a sekiro thread
You can easily speedrun the game even without savescumming if you're actually good. What's actually shady is getting all the skills in that short period of time.
Backstabbing ministry gunners in the outskirts at the endgame gives you a fuckton of exp real fast.
Yes.
easiest miniboss with exception of red eye samurai in the hallway b4 tze dojo.
just parry 7 times then jump his swipe attack. Do this 2 times and his posture is full. You can even stealth him from above and shuriken shoot his goons if you want cheese mode
