Games where the "villain" was right?
Games where the "villain" was right?
His ideals were right his methods were not especially because he resorted to summoning primals in an attempt to fulfill his duty. If you pay attention for 5 seconds you would know that summoning literally kills the world around you and your job is to stop that.
Why was he so fucking old.
He had the eyes to use as batteries
Hydalaens fate is to expire and give birth to a new star. Primal's are simply a natural part of this process.
???
he was using the eyes as a conduit for aether like how the beast tribes need crystals to summon their primals.
but the ascians taught how to summon, it's not natural at all
The eyes weren't used up to summon the primal though, so he could continue to draw on them instead of sucking from the planet
because they're THAT FULL of aether, note that ilberd manages to summon Shinryu with them and they're STILL around after we beat that primal too. eventually they would have dried up and started sapping the world.
>We'll never get his Glam set
I want to be the God damn dragon pope
it's a tragedy
The commendation gear is already a pope suit, though
Heavensward was a really good expansion
So was Stormblood.
I liked it too gameplay wise. The story was good but not on par with HW
I'm glad to hear someone say it was at least good, I suppose. Too many threads have people shitting on it when I thought the story was great and just as good as HW.
>Games where the "villain" was right?
Literally Marche
The dungeons in Stormblood were better than the dungeons in Heavensward but don't kid yourself, the story wasn't nearly as good. Heavensward had a lot of emotional and memorable moments and cool characters and plot twists. Bloodstorm on the other hand was just a bunch of dumb savages and not-japan fighting with the generic techno-empire that was already played out back in A Realm Reborn
>Marche
>right
>final battle with Elidibus
>get interrupted by catshitter
>"hey man can you get my package at Crystal Tower thanks bro lmao"
>roll credits
The final patch just cemented how shit SB's story was. Any time there was potential for some great shit, they just let it fall flat.
>Bloodstorm on the other hand was just a bunch of dumb savages and not-japan fighting with the generic techno-empire that was already played out back in A Realm Reborn
It was the story of a beaten, downtrodden nation finally "rising up" and overthrowing their oppressors, with important more far reaching things like ascian involvement being revealed as the story went on.
WILLS UNBENDING

NOW OUR STEEL SHALL SING
king thordan did absolutely nothing wrong
Diadem 3.0: Even Shittier pretty much completely torpedoed my enjoyment of SB. I pretty much couldn't get into anything after that. PUG Raiding is as tedious as ever, same for tomestone capping, hunts are as shit as always, the themes for both raids were terrible. "Remember that thing from FF*, here it is!" is okay in moderation, but I much rather the raids mostly try and take their own spin on things. CT was okay since it felt like less of a brute force copy-paste as both Return to Ivalice and Omega did, but the Mhach series was definitely more enjoyable for me.
Obligatory "any ww2 game"
any japanese game
>It was the story of a beaten, downtrodden nation finally "rising up" and overthrowing their oppressors
Funny. I seem to remember a foreign godslayer coming along and solving all their problems for them.
My favorite job also getting ass fucked and made clunky as hell to make it easier to casuals also certainly didn't help.
Ascians have been involved with pretty much every significant event that has happened in Final Fantasy 14s since ARR. As for a downtrodden nation rising up... yeah, we get to see that amazing struggle happen 3 times in nearly identical fashion in Stormblood, and this is after we already had the story of the poor downtrodden people of Eorzea fight off the evil techno-empire in ARR. Bloodstorm brought absolutely nothing new or interesting, it was just a retreading of shit we already saw. There was also pretty much only two really memorable and exciting events in the entire fucking Stormblood expansion and they were BOTH fighting against Zenos. Zenos was really the only redeeming quality about the entire boring story
Really? I remember you getting your ass beat and needing to go to another part of the world where you'd have more allies (despite knowing no one) to help topple a different part of the Garlean reign so that the Ala Mhigan part would even try to help you.
>so that the Ala Mhigan part would even try to help you
Which they didn't. You came back and the Eorzeans blew down the gates of Ala Mhigo so you could go inside and beat Zenos. All the Ala Mhigans actually did was sing the national anthem after you won their victory for them.
Oh so you're a "my hyperbole is what actually happened" nigger, got it!
That's literally what happened in the game you stupid faggot.
Playing through as a tank probably has some of my positivity a little biased. Then again being a tank isn't as braindead easy as dps is
It’s pretty spot on, the only Ala Mighan that did anything to help was mister one arm
>if you genocide the dragons, everyone is fucked
bravo
>WoL and his 3 adventurer helpers wipe out all the VIPs and the leader of the enemy army while the Ala Mhigo army fuck around killing worthless mook enemies and knocking over tiny fences for you
>WoL deals with all of the enemies super weapons and summons
>WoL pretty much single handly manged to round up tons of foreign support for the incompetent Ala Mhigans who are too stupid to negotiate for aid themselves
>WoL distracts and cripples the empire in various locations to make invasion easier
>When the empire tries to invade and take Ala Mhigo back, WoL helps set up a forcefield to keep them out them out and then goes and kills all their invading VIPs and war weapons with the help of the Eorzeans while the Ala Mhigo themselves once again do fuck all
If anything, the Ala Migger cunts just made the work more difficult on the WoL with the whole Griffin shitshow

>t. Ysayle
cool ideology, but still a degenerate savage for summoning an eikon tho
>All the Ala Mhigans actually did was sing the national anthem after you won their victory for them.
Best enjoyed by changing the dub language to French.
yoshi-p needs to fire 3 new writers! at the end clip with varis' genocide face i said to myself
>thats it?
cmon why are ff14s expacs closings so fucking weak!
GIVE US A FUCKING CLIFFHANGER DAMNIT!
hell i remembered how i nearly shat my drawers when i found out tiamat, one of the 1st brood and bahamuts loli-waifu was stuck there all those millennia it shocked the shit outta me.
ff14 is losing quality fast!
IQ89: summoning an eikon
IQ189: becoming an eikon
Even our boy louisoux was going to summon the twelve as eikons
He only partially summoned them, that's why they weren't able to seal Bahamut. Only a fraction of their power was spawned for a short time. It's not really the same as a full summoning. Louisoux is too high IQ to actually summon 12 fucking primals
Travis refusing to simply not play the Death Drive Mk II forced her hand, resulting in the death of her boyfriend and her tricking him into slaughtering most of the CIA. She just wanted to make goddamn video games. Even if they were vaguely feminist.
Usually it's easy to vilify gentrification antagonists, especially when they've come to tarnish this or that sacred natural habitat for the sake of "progress," but Pandora is fucking abysmal. If there's one bitch of a world that deserves to get hit with the mined and grind, Pandora is that planet.
He ultimately got everything he wanted in the end and is responsible for saving his country from imperial subjugation.
Is he technically a villain? I'm confused after finishing Torna
Like a glorified secretary knows anything about progress.
His plans were stupid and his methods were shit. It only worked out because the godlike Warrior of Light just steamrolled everything by himself coincidentally around the time he was trying to do something
>It only worked out because the godlike Warrior of Light just steamrolled everything by himself coincidentally around the time he was trying to do something
That was the plan though. Either his primal would work and steamroll Garlemald itself, or the whole situation would force Eorzea and WoL into a war.
What game?
If he didn't set up the false flag at Baelsar's Wall the Alliance wouldn't have done shit.
As said his goal was to either sic a primal on Garlemald, or force a war. He achieved the latter.
This one.
FFXIV
The guy whose seed eventually created Christopher Lee vis-a-vis one of his many, many, many lovers and bastard offspring couldn't have been all that bad.

Final Fantasy XIV, more specifically the Heavensward expansion.
Firecucks burn in eternal suffering for a dead god while humanity marches onwards to a new age where it belongs.
Fear not the dark my friend
And let the feast begin
>healing Sohm Al
>undergeared tank
>not mitigating
>big pulls on top
>not dodging aoes, seems like he is just collecting them instead
>after dying asks me if I've even bound my healing spells and refuses to pull the next boss if I don't apologise
>votekick passes
>SAM tanks the dino boss with no problems while we wait for a new tank to join
Why are tanks so often such retarded cunts? I really don't get it
Metaphorically, is staying in the dark not the stagnancy of prolonging the rotten age of fire?
Azure Striker Gunvolt.
He's definitely a villain. He had some legitimate complaints about the way the architect designed blades and how humans take advantage of that, but he gave up on trying to fix any of that and just wanted to kill everyone instead.
500 years ago during Torna he wasn't villainous. In the main game he definitely was. First thing he did was stab Rex in the back.
I'll never forgive him for Slicing Raubahns arm off
>Ascians have been involved with pretty much every significant event that has happened in Final Fantasy 14s since ARR.
They existed in 1.0 also, but it's been so long I can't recall how much or little they were involved in anything. They even had that one model of their real form that got used a couple times And ARR then recycled and repurposed the fuck out of it for generic mobs
>Fear not the dark my friend
>And let the feast begin
Locust preachers are not trustworthy friend.
Gotta hand it to him, it was a good move
The little ghost balloons?

is that the pope?
damn, I'll go back to church this very Sunday

only after the DLC had to retcon the fuck out of his backstory and the lore of the world to make him seem right.

you motherfucker
My computer is broken. I want to finish Stormblood so bad but I have no money to fix my computer because I'm moving
having just finished link i gotta say it was funny. karl is the man though, but i wasnt feeling the whole "sister" schtick and astolfo should never be in ANY videogame ever.
the weird thing is that the game tells you he's the good guy in the Easter egg ending but it doesn't let you take that route.
