DR3 is an anime meant to conclude the Hope's Peak saga. It runs two arcs Future and Despair. You're meant to watch Future episode 1, then Despair episode 1 and alternate the rest of the way. Most people don't like it because it retcons a bunch of stuff from the games and is generally pretty shitty.
V3 is the Third main game in the series and the 4th overall. It basically follows the same structure as the first two. It's set in a different universe from the rest of the series. Opinions on this one are generally a lot more positive.

2 and V3 are more of the same, but with improved gameplay and more post-game content each time. Arguments regarding story and characters are subjective, though it should be noted that 2 carries on from 1 but V3 is it's own story arc in a different universe.
Ultra Despair Girls is completely different and is a puzzle game with a slow third person shooter control scheme, but you really should play 2 first before doing that one.
Just pretend the anime doesn't exist. It does everything it can to ruin and retcon the story of the original three games.

We see how Ultimate Luck is basically a superpower in both games that came out before the anime, so the concept of an Ultimate can't be a lie. There's evidence there that shows they weren't so voluntary towards it.

As we are watching in the protagonists mind throughout the entire series, there would be no logical explanation as to why we wouldn't see the "rest" of that scene play out the first time other than lazy writing. Shit ain't right with that Prologue. If they auditioned, why are they so slow on the uptake that it's their favourite show? Why would Kaede call herself the Protagonist when she wakes up? The only time that she's called that is the demo. So why is she back in her normal clothes if the demo is canon? Because now they know their characters they can record the auditions.
Even if, and I stress it's not a reliable enough narrator to 100% accept it as solid fact, even if that Prologue scene plays out as described, the audition tape brainwashing not being correctly wiped still would explain away their odd and sudden excited reactions when it's finally spelled out for them it's DR.

Most people count Monokuma and Junko as two separate characters, Monokuma seems to have a pretty different personality from Junko due to her wanting to seem like she's 'playing a character' and this carries over to UDG.
Still, Monokuma is basically Junko's fursona.
I think they could take a lot of stuff from UDG, of course he'd need his hammer to be one of his main weapons.

I just always reasoned that Chiaki was so "perfect" in 2 because she was essentially a therapy AI, so her being so cooperative and supporting towards everyone makes sense as well as her just generally being good at figuring things out, while in 3 she's just perfect because that's how she was in 2 and she's the most important thing in the world now and the whole reason everyone else in DR2 became Despair-brainwashed.
