Yeah the bite was right next to an open wound that was gushing out blood profusely. If the bite works like they say - that is it spreads and gives you an infection - then in Clem's case the infection agent just didn't have a good chance to spread.

Lee also waited a LOT longer than Clem to attempt amputation, and earlier in the series we see Abel with his arm cut off and he claims it was because he got bit and they cut it off, so we know amputation DOES sometimes work and Clem saying it "never does" was just her mistaken belief.

If you keep his arm, he passes out more often and gets the discolored eyes earlier, which doesn't happen if you cut it off. Makes sense, getting a limb cut off can fuck you up if you're not lucky.

I stopped playing after 2, because that season ended with Clem and Kenny either separating for Clem and AJ's safety or walking off into the wild, determined to stay together no matter what. And I just thought that series had reached its emotional peak and wouldn't get any better than that. Especially after I heard season 3 just offs Kenny or blows up Wellington immediately because it couldn't be assed to do multiple story paths.
