Thoughts?
yeah
>3d graphics
Ugh...
I sometimes think
seeing this screenshot just makes me wish there was a colonial era city builder a la caesar III or something
It was fine for Shadow Tactics.

So is this like a modern Commandos (or whatever those games were called, where you controls the squad from that sorta' isomorphic pov)
Desperados was literally wild west commandos, so yes.
If you were a fan of the old games then you should check out the ninja/samurai one they made. It's not bad.
no this is like a modern desperados
I only knew of Commandos, which I really enjoyed back in the day. What are other similar games?
I assume this is a genre that was killed by the move to 3D.
Desperados
Robin Hood
There really weren't many. Commandos series, Desperados and Robin Hood are pretty much the only ones until Shadow Tactics tried it again.

It works well enough in 3D, in my opinion.
I think it's more that these games look ugly in 3D.
Also killed off Age of Empires.
...actually this looks really cool.
Just get this over with and make another shadow tactics again
>No city builder set in Mexico during the 1800s.
There's an old RTS with great artstyle, but laggy controls and bad AI. Data Becker's America or America: No Peace Beyond the Line.
GOTY every year
it is buy or pirate it, worth your time if you're into commandos
>Guns
they better balance this right.
So can i just play that or do i have to play the prequel? Are they any good? I played shadow tactics and really liked it
very excited, Desperados still holds up, and Shadow tactics was goty
>360° camera rotation>2d backgrounds
worst part about commandos 2 was that some buildings were so large that you couldn't see what was going on around it, and having just 4 screen to rotate between could easily dissorient you (remember the prison escape level?)
Yes Lawd
Shadow Tactics was great, the only problem being slooooow initial load times because Unity engine apparently runs worse and worse the more complex your game becomes.
Realtime 3D is now good enough to work with similar detail as was used in the 90s with prerendered graphics. Can work.
Having played Shadow Tactics I can say yes it works, but I gotta wonder why don't we see more games with pre-rendered graphics?
You can make a game that looks next gen while running on any average PC.
Back to Desperado, the snake was OP, just put it on top of a ladder or behind a Barn's door and you are set.
Desperados 3 is the prequel to Desperados.
this one is sort of mexican a little bit
literally just bought the collectors edition on sale. what am i in for?
Can't wait for it
man, i never seen it talk on Yea Forums
Fun times.
if you are as bad as i am, than a lot of trial and error
also the trap is op
I kind of forgot about Tropico 5's colonial era, that might be just the thing.
the only game i'm looking forward to this year. shadow tactics was amazing and i expect this to at least be in the same league.
shadow tactics used guns and that worked fine
that was fixed in a patch. also you can just use an ssd.
Played 1, heard 2 sucked. Anyone tried them both?
You did play Shadow Tactics with japanese VAs, right?
2019/20 is ABSOLUTELY and UNIRONICALLY BASED
That's Anno 1800, not Tropico, I forgot to change the file name
coming out in a couple weeks
HIDING IN THE BUSHES?!
Desperados 1 is pure kino, 2 had a lot of executive meddling so it was dumbed down and has a 3rd person camera mode where you can basically mow down the whole map as third person shooter from a distance if you're good.
It's still worth checking out 2 but expect a heavily dumbed down game, also Helldorado which is the standalone expansion to 2 that finishes the story (if you only play 2 you get half a game without an ending since Helldorado completes the story of 2).
After anno 2077 I couldnt go back to this
Because you prefer the future shit?
Or are you talking about 2205, that fucked up not real Anno game?
This one is back to normal again
I hope it does well so they can resurrect Commandos as well. Shadow Tactics was fucking fantastic.
Remind me, did Commandos have character inventories and explorable interiors since the first game, or was that only in the sequel?
not in the first game.
Nice.
Thought this was a commandos thread at first
Desperados is literally wild west Commandos so you're not wrong.
Shadow Tactics is literally medieval Japan Commandos and then there's Robin Hood which is literally medieval Europe Commandos.
wow
bewbs
Shadow tactics was great. Hopefully this will be too.
