Tribute to

I just want to say thank you to ZSNES. Without it, I wouldn't even be here. Pay your tributes to things that shaped your life ITT

Ah, nesticle

If it weren't for /r/Yea Forums, I wouldn't be here

You know, I really appreciate the early days of emulation because I was able to play games on NES and SNES that either weren't available in my area or my 'rents simply couldn't afford at the time.

Primitive as Nesticle, early SNES9x and ZSNES were and to a lesser extent NO$GB, the idea that a computer program can pretend to be a game console and attempt to run some games in a form playable enough to pass the day was quite something.

Hell, even with the technical and graphical flaws like muddy lights on Chrono Trigger or Ganbare Goemon 4 (and Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventure) playing music slow but voice samples 2-3 times in repeat, I strangely romanticized things like that because I got to witness how much emulators have and continue to progress.

Sure, it's not like having the original hardware but shit used to be a whole lot worse than people imagine unless they were emulating as long as people such as myself have.

I love you ZSNES!

without this game i dont think i would have ever really learned how to play fighting games,i can still vividly remember the time me and my younger brother spent at 8 years old trying to learn how to do hadokens and shoryukens

ZSNES was my first emulator like it probably was many, many other people's, aside from the people that started with Nesticle. I'm thankful for it letting me know that emulation exists as a kid that's for sure.

Those technical and graphical flaws you described are what the kids now say as "SOUL". Unintentional flaws that just give something that little bit of charm and personality. Of course, the nostalgia goggles help too

mmmhmmm pussy ;)

Growing up playing video games with your siblings is something I wish everyone could experience

>Those technical and graphical flaws you described are what the kids now say as "SOUL".

Yeah, that's fucking dumb. I romanticize the beeps but not because of the experience but because it helps me appreciate the contrast and the strides the programmers have made in improving emulators. Being able to witness the progress is why I bring it up, because it seemed like a fool's errand to reverse engineer the SNES or Atari 7800 and so forth but nowadays you can find people emulating PSP on their phones and shit because the technology has gotten better and the programmers have better resources.

If some fans want that shit in their emulation, that's them. I want accuracy and performance on a PC or device to get tighter and tighter as we move forward.

Limewire/Kazaa/unrestricted torrenting helped expose me to a lot of amazing shit that I still play/watch/listen to, and honestly made my life so much better. Sad to see how much clamping down is done to file sharing now, and how average people act like it's a crime against humanity.

I love Mednafen

for me it's snes9x and nesticle on a usb hard drive given to me by my brother when I was young.

I used to play Street fighter ex 2 plus on the playstation. I still remember that it had a super strong version of bison that was wearing white and I could never defeat him. Aside from that, I also played alpha 3, which to this day remains the best street fighter for me. World tour mode was a blast

I'd like to pay a tribute to video games for helping me become a waste of fucking oxygen

>download a SNES rom pack from some random dc++ hub back in the day
>mfw firing up Final Fantasy 6 for the first time
Emulation saved my poor ass childhood

Soulseek took up the slack of Limewire and is going absolutely strong, user.

Those P2P sharing days also thought you how to use the most powerful anti-virus you could ever have: Common Sense (current year). Something that is severely lacking in zoomers nowadays

Sadly only really for music

Don't be afraid to be different.

Reminder that street fighter 4 and 5 should have been EX sequels

The day I played zsnes on my Pentium 2 and discovered the joy of emulation is the day I finally gave up on real consoles.

My first encounter with video games was in a pirate NES and flash game sites. Some time later my cousin taught me how to use Project 64, ZSnes and other emulators. Good times.

The precision was quite shitty in some games, but the speed was just really great, allowing a shitty pentium 200 to play snes games at full speed.

The PSP taught me a lot of shit. Console hardware and software hacking which lead to a little bit of code hacking. Without the PSP, I would have never learned all the shit I do now. Also this

foxy gandma!

ZSNES was what I grew up on. At the time I didn't understand what emulation was, and I'd get into arguments with kids at school about whether or not mario games were on the pc. I was "that kid" but I was telling the truth.

>download rom pack
>it has weird, shitty sequels of smw i had never heard of before
>mfw i discovered lunar magic

and there went 10 years of my life
