Our first two known Fighter Pass characters are from popular, long running franchises of Japanese origins that are still getting games to this day (Persona and mostly likely Dragon Quest). Doesn't paint a good picture for Banjo.

Considering Dixie was planned in Brawl I don't know why they don't just add her even if she's not a part of Diddy's moveset. Also considering Sakurai's extensive planning she's most likely had a moveset since then.

More like literally any DKC content should have been in since Melee. I'm still mad that both DK stages from Melee are the same stupid fucking generic jungle at different angles and time of day. None of which would be DK stages without Klaptraps or barrels. Basically the only time for DKC2 or even 3 or 64 stages that got blown on stupid fucking jungles. If you actually look at DK's stage list the only one that's not a jungle is 75M. And the interesting one that's an actual locale didn't return in Ultimate. DK is still gimped in terms of content. Also no new stages means nothing from Tropical Freeze. I'm still mad about Ultimate.

Especially bizarre when Dixie Kong did. IIRC a whole bunch of Rareware trophies were also planned but fell through due to copyright issues (similar to why Banjo didn't happen). And there were plans for FE trophies as well but IIRC those were axed for time constraints.

Lots of models were sent in to be trophies, but got rejected. They seemed to prioritize characters that didn't appear in a 3D game before.

Sad thing is, you're totally right but DK still got off better than some other returning franchises in Ultimate. At least it got a newcomer and a few amazing and sorely needed song remixes.

In one of the Brawl mod teams I used to be part of (more like PM mods to be specific) we had plans for a Fear Factory stage. Pity that it went nowhere as well.

Honestly I hate Ultimate because it feels more like a celebration of itself than a celebration of Nintendo's franchises and history. The fact that Yoshi's Final Smash is a reference to Melee's opening over literally anything else speaks volumes about the whole game.

No it's just that people found his Xbox Live account and he owns the game but literally didn't even touch it. The first achievement is collecting 2 jiggies, one being mandatory to unlock Mumbo's Mountain and literally the first jiggy. He doesn't even have that. It's basically a "play the game" achievement.
