Because it's fucking set in Japan. If you want to listen to it English that's fine, but it's meant to be in Japanese and the game even tells you that straight up. The souls series doesn't do this because the language doesn't matter, the area and language is undetermined. In the case of anime; most of the time the English voice acting is silly and improperly directed, so I prefer Japanese.

From what we can see it is a) transformative, forcing them into a weird, enfeebled old form with 4 arms and tentacles, b) can happen extremely fast from what happened to the Mibu village priest. I wish i took a closer look at the description of the Waters item that I gave to the village priest
Honestly the centipedes seem like they can range from extremely painful and shitty (the cloth-swathed guys in Senpou) to basically real immortality (Hanbei)

This only works if you quit after your first death FYI. If you quit on your second death you will boot up on the edge of the boss area with no revives and you will just die and get sent back to a statue

Kuro has the actual, genuine blood of the dragon through heritage. Remember how he can't even be hurt by conventional weapons? All the other "immortal" creatures in the game can be hurt by natural means even if you need Fushigiri to kill them for good.
Divine child I am uncertain on though I know other people have the whole story on her. She does not host a centipede as far as I know.

Yeah, it feels like a mediocre Souls boss in a game where the bar was set much higher by better bosses with better mechanics. Ashina Cross combat skill is actually pretty good. It can be used immediately after deflecting an attack, and that also powers it up a bit thanks to the passive skills picked up earlier in the same skill tree. It's not quick enough to interrupt an enemy combo string though, so only deflect->ashina cross on their last swing. The skill also does significantly less damage if you deflect->drop your guard->press attack+guard to trigger the art, probably because it losses those Ascending/Descending Carp buffs. Try to do it as such: deflect->press/hold attack button while still holding down guard from your previous deflect. It's my theory that all of the combat arts that involve sheathing your sword first do increased damage when combo'd with a deflect in that manner.

In all fairness she's twice as hard as most of the bosses that come after her.

They're so different.
Level design and world layout is on par with DS1. It's the first game in the series other than DS1 that has a massive interconnected world with tons of shortcuts between areas. DS3 and BB did it occasionally, but not to the same extent as Sekiro or DS1.
Combat is the best in the series. The bosses are amazing, as well.
Your mileage will depend on how much you like the stealth, the Japanese aesthetic, and the set "build".

the main portion of Soulsborne replayability came from the weapon selection and PvP which Sekiro doesn't have. It has a more refined combat system though.

I've pieced it together, if you sequence break Sekiro. It's not dragonrot anymore, everyone melds together and become The Rotten. Sekiro is in the Dark Souls universe. Call MatPat.

NG+ owl is a real bitch of a fight. Not sure how he was on NG because I did the Shura ending first, but his posture regen is very fast so there's no way you can kill him without at least getting his health bat 30% or below BUT you also only have a small window to attack him between parries aka 1 attack per window, and each attack does like 5% of his HP.
I already beat both his fights, but I can't even imagine how hard it would be on NG++ without farming for more attack power with the dragon mask.

I swear people are just taking them on whilst underlevelled or something, they're probably the least demanding boss in the entire game. There's a ton of items and prosthetics that counter them, and if you're trash at deflection then that barely matters either, there is nothing they can do against hit and run.

I've been looking forward to my second run and I'm still on my first. Doubt it will hold up for more than 4 or 5 runs, but if nothing else the skill cost scaling, NPC questlines, and multiple endings give multiple playthroughs.
