MONOLITH SOFT HIRING FOR A NEW ZELDA

BOTW 2 is probably in development at this point and hopefully they learned a lot of things from last time

Can't wait for Zelda to have tits bigger than Pyra's entire torso.
Poe's Law

IT SHOULD'VE BEEN POKEMON

Moonrune translated:
>"They are hiring: Technical Artists, Programmers, Planners, Designers, and Management Support"

>2019
>pokemon
its dead let it rest in peace

They can't just SAY they're working on a new fucking Zelda game, right? Isn't this a breach of contract?

How? Nintendo owns them, we know they helped with the past Zelda, we now Nintendo is making another Zelda aside the Link's Awakening remake, and they aren't spoling anything about the new project, just hiring new people...

Attached: 1548933248344.jpg (2200x1446, 387K)

Zelda is fully anime waifushit now. Good.

Zelda with tit window this time.

>That new Monster Hunter-esque insignia.

Oh boy I have't seen shit about the game and it already excited for it.

Something about tribal shit always hits me good.

Attached: MH3U-Guild_Card_Background_019.jpg (1280x720, 154K)

Link climbing on giant monsters SotC style would be fucking awesome.

JUST GIVE ME ANOTHER TOON LINK GAME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Attached: 1549510953640.jpg (599x563, 50K)

>they aren't spoling anything about the new project
>Monolithsoft
It’s more bland open world garbage, that much is certain

they're not gonna let the main monolith writers touch zelda

Fuck off

Ok tell me, when the fuck has nintendo not been actively working on a zelda title
you might not know about it until announcement but it literally always happens
please do fucking tell

Attached: 13434545467.jpg (325x293, 28K)

I thought planners were the same thing as designers

sword and shield ain't enough for you?

>Monolithsoft
No thanks. Am I the only one who remembers the last time they made an open world game and it was fucking awful in every way?

>Monolithsoft world
>Ever bland

Attached: 1524685607285.jpg (3989x2529, 3.94M)

Xenoblade 1 was their best world

The lasy game had that though even if there was only a Golem you could do it to.

Soon my fellow toonbro.

Attached: toons.jpg (834x768, 159K)

>not hiring Platinum game
I guess we never get hack and slash Zelda game that's not musou

Because nobody was expecting a new Zelda title.

BOTW 2 would be great if they mix in Majora's Mask with it. Doesn't have to be masks, but I want to be able to traverse faster.

>Fly in the air like a Rito
>Butterfly stroke and swim underwater like a Zora
>Roll like a Goron

Attached: 1452170639479.png (335x314, 63K)

Imagine the mobility of Majora's Mask combined with all the new mechanics of BOTW. Shit, that'd be an excellent game. Knowing Monolith, they might be able to nail that.
Still not overly excited about most other shit they do.

All three Xenoblade games have amazing worlds. Monolithsoft make the best worlds in the industry. People can shit on them all they want but you can't deny that.

BotW probably started development early on the WiiU so the next one being close makes sense

I agree

I could see people doing some crazy stuff with Goron rolling.

Imagine gachashit in the next Zelda game.

You guys already got fucking 3

Give me either a TP or MM sequel

Suck it, we're going for 4.

That'd be horrible.

Attached: TMC_-_Figurine_Shop_Interior.png (240x160, 5K)

I know Nintendo don't really do direct story sequels. BOTW was a good concept that they can build off from that.

Things I would change:
>Can't spam eat ingredients, need to actually cook food. Except fruit.
>Better combat, since spamming and holding X is boring.
>Able to turn off/on slow motion. I would prefer not literally freezing time and slashing opponents.
>Add more enemy variety.

Monolith was heavily involved with BotW. Them working on the sequel isn't a surprise.

So is this Nintendo's plan for Zelda now? Just loan it out to other devs and see what they do with it?

I like it.

>can’t wait for another sub 360p 20fps with drops game even on the switch pro revision

They nailed the gameplay and mechanics in BOTW. Now let's see if they build on top of them to actually make a good game.

>SO NEW ZELDA IN 4 YEARS FOR YOUR NEW CONSOLE

Can we outsource the series to somebody who designs video games or not?

Honestly it could make Nintendo. Lending out franchises and special guest characters helps sell games. See Zelda in Skyrim or Star Fox in Starlink

What's the next gimmic Yea Forums ?
>Ocarina of Time
>Masks
>Wind Waker
>Wolf Link
>Motion controls
>Physics and Sheikah Slate

What should the main difference for the next game be. I want to see some original ideas.

From's Zelda when

Attached: Irithyll_of_the_Boreal_Valley_-_11.jpg (3456x1944, 976K)

and it was like five feet tall
climbing was such a waste

You got like four and they all sucked except for MC but then I remember shit like.

Literally half of that list can be fixed by just making a legit 'hard mode'. Make it a yes/no at the beginning of the game and your choice is permanent. Choosing yes removes pause-to-heal, flurry rush, and bullet time while aiming in the air.

And yeah improve the combat overall. Throwing in some special moves like Twilight Princess had wouldn't hurt.

Anime tropes. Anime tropes everywhere.

>monolith back on board for the next zelda
good fucking shit, BoTW's best aspect was easily the world so if we can just get a world as great as last time with more enemy variety, a more distinct setting that feels like something truly new to Zelda rather than the traditional Hyrule Zora Goron Gerudo (and in BoTW's case Rito) scenery, and real dungeons it'll be 10/10 material. Hyrule Castle proves that the BoTW style of Zelda has potential to have good dungeons, it's one of the best in the series. The entire area is jam-packed with secrets, loot, and enemies. I love the fact that there's a ton of different ways to traverse the castle and that it even has multiple entrances you can use to enter the dungeon.

Attached: IMG_0068.png (629x743, 555K)

Reminder RDR2 will be Switch pro exclusive

I'm not optimistic. Maybe they'll give the game a proper main quest this time but I'm not holding my breath.

The internet would fucking explode.

This really would be the best thing to happen.

Japanese humor.

Why? Aside from MC and ST they're all subpar Zeldas, and even then MC's merely mediocre while ST averages out to be mediocre between its excellent dungeons and cancer inducing overworld.

BotW’s story and characters had that... also the reason it’s story and characters are some of the worst in the series.

So Co-op Link has a harem of waifus that battle with him?

What? You're telling me you DIDN'T like the super scientist loli who's actually a hundred years old?

I think the main reason the world was so great in BOTW is because of the movement and climbing. The combat was also a nice touch, though it felt very basic. Like a pizza with no toppings.
Get some major shit in there. Monolith Soft likely at least understands that, so we could have our MM equivalent to BOTW soon. And Yea Forums will still cry about it for years to come.
Monolith Soft, so expect mech suits, weird swords, and japanese """"humor""""

>Get hyped for a new IP from Monolithsoft
>It's just Zelda again

God damnit. Most of the information on the 'special project' page has been stripped out or mimics the Zelda project page, and there's no way Monolith can suddenly have the workforce for three different games with only 180 employees.
I was so excited for some kind of open world action RPG where you could fly around on dragons and shit.

Attached: 1536281842299.jpg (1920x900, 739K)

Did anyone actually like that?
The story was just poorly told. I really liked the voice acting though, it was weird as fuck in older games like Twilight Princess where characters mouths would move yet no sounds would come out, with jarring exceptions like Midna.

Again: Monolith Soft were co-developers of BotW. This is nothing new. The direction of the game isn't going to change; it's the same fucking studio.

I would unashamedly give my left nut for that.

It’s loses its luster FAST.

>Finally at home after wageslaving
>Kinolith soft is back on the menu
Fucking based, this is like the third time they expand after xcx2, crazy

>Monolithsoft
downgrades

>Co-op
If forgetting you guys don’t even like Zelda.

That's actually better news than anything, they know the BOTW style and they can stick to it and improve upon it. That's not naysaying at all.

Souls is already pretty much Zelda for adults with RPG elements.

>Wanting Pokemon to be a bland open world game like BotW or Zenoblade
>Using a Star Vs reaction image
I don't know which is worse

Skyward Sword HD

>implying Pokémon is not bland, empty corridors

My favorite things about BoTW's world is that it doesn't have to force you to go somewhere to find a point of interest because you can find it on your own, and the fact that there's a ton of ways to make it to the place you're trying to reach. There was never a point where I felt like an area was totally empty and there wasn't anything on the horizon that looked like it was worth exploring which is a trap so many open world games fall into where you're just wandering around hoping that you'll find something rather than knowing you'll find something.

Attached: 1551968851794.jpg (640x723, 22K)

I was talking about new concepts, is Co-op really that bad? It's been done before in past titles.

What's funny is that Breath of the Wild and Skyward Sword were directed by the same guy, and they share a good few ideas.

Yes.

Yes, Zelda and Link are childhood friends, then at 15% of the story she gets kidnapped. then the game feels harder. Then you can group with a Goron, Zora, and Rito.
> Less Shrines, more Skyrim/Morrowind like Caves with tons of secret shit.

I thought Monolith Soft was already involved in BOTW by making the environments.

I get what you mean, user. But no. Sorry.

People want to care about Zelda beyond the most superficial sex appeal. Or Hyrule for that matter. It's amazing how BotW has all these neat story elements and yet they completely fail to make players care about anything that's actually going on. So much so that I personally never even finished the game, it didn't feel like actually completing Hyrule Castle was interesting at all. The absolute EASIEST way to go about it is to Ico it up and have Zelda be a constant character presence that makes you care about her. This is why people love Midna so goddamn much - she was around, she did things, she was interesting and attractive. Zelda usually spends the entire game as a prop and the ONLY reason for that is because OoT did this so every game has to do this. Fuck you Aonuma you old wet fart.

>Darker Tone like MM or MOTHER 3

Yikes

Whoah-hoah, what?
I never cared about Zelda, she was just the goal at the end of the game. It was never about sex appeal.
Come to think of it, that does kinda make her a prop.

BotW has an awful Zelda, the less of her and her shit dubs the better. It wouldn’t be bad to have a companion, as long as they’re not awful to have around.

Because they put effort in writing her character and arc. Story and characters in BotW took the backseat and it shows.

Yeah they already said the new zelda is already in development but that's all we know at the moment

mmm... quite pungent...

Nah, they're too different for that comparison. But I would agree that Nintendo should give them a chance to develop an "experimental" spinoff game. Better than another Hyrule Warriors.

Monolith has expanded a lot since then and is apparently expanding more. It should be fine for them to both be Zelda slaves and make Xenoblade from now on. It should have been obvious Nintendo would do this. Botw is gonna sell 25 mil lifetime and it's mostly because of the world which monolith made. They're not gonna give that up.

One intern from MS can make a better game than all of Game Freak.

Based. While I'm fine with whatever I'd like to see more of the WW world and a older toon and tetra (as a partner) going across the ocean and doing dungeons together would be tight. TP2 would be interesting though, maybe Twili Midna gets so depressed she tries to open the portal again somehow to see link or something like that.

>BOTW 2
Interest:gone.

Call me when they will make a REAL Zelda game.
And Nintendo really should stop distract MS for their projects. Let them focus on Xenoblade series.

That's a really low bar.

I am curious, to anyone who knows the history how the fuck did Monolith get so much talent? They're probably the best open world designers in the world and have have genius level programmers. How did a relatively small second party studio aquire so much talent?

>that reaction image
you should've been aborted

> Darker Tone like MM or MOTHER 3
Time Skips like OOT that show Link & Zelda's characters grow from Child to Adult
> Have the Villain actually achieve their goal like Kefka or OOT Ganon

For my idea for the next gimmic for the next game would be:
>In 100 Years a Dark Being will destroy Hyrule/The Planet.
>Every time Link dies, he comes back as a Redead
>However time progresses 5 years if Link dies
>If you die too much and don't complete the story in the given 100 years, you receive the bad ending.

Good Ending:
>Link restores himself back to normal
>Save the world
>Beats the bad guy.

The main idea:
>If Link's not there (because of your death) some villages would be gone because they were wiped out from the villain.
>Kinda like Majora's Mask were you can miss certain events if you're not alive.
>If you die from bandits, you're body can be dragged to a different location and your items can be stolen.
>Die in a dungeon and you'll be thrown out.
>Don't die at all to get the true ending.

Attached: GbaTEGu.png (320x320, 109K)

Direct sequel to BotW, involving the rebuild of Hyrule Castle, and the development of new technologies. Maybe not giant mechs, but something beyond riding horses and wooden rafts.

If it were to have online, WHICH IT DOESN'T HAVE TO, just saying if it did how would it work? Depending if it's a complete spin off or mainline game, would they keep link or have him be fallen/trapped or with you being able to make your own character and either be good or bad? (Invasions and summons)

They spent Xenoblade 1 making wide open areas and all of Xenoblade X was an HD/open world practice run. Apparently they had open areas in Soma Bringer too.

True Ending
>Don't die
>Get to see fully uncensored 10 minute cutscene of Link and Zelda fucking

Yet those lazy senile shits will still make billions more than MonolithSoft. Same 100 people from Red & Blue living off decades old nostalgia while another company who actually puts in effort and investing in themselves barely sell 2 mill. Fuck Americans for buying LGPE.

>A sequel is used to improve upon the previous iteration, user
You cant improve broken game.
Botw have nothing to do with actual zelda games.

They will focus again on the autistic empty open spaces and portable shrines cause shitchtards have attention span of amoeba.

I feel like the big gimmick of the next Zelda game is gonna be a very large magic system. Magic was probably the biggest feature missing from botw. It only really had the runes and 2 of those were just bombs. I think the next game will heavily emphasize physics based magic systems in a more magical fantasy world.

>moonjumping up a mountain
>character freaking out because you clearly aren't supposed to be there
>good thing
No.

Xenoblade 2's world was bad, actually. Probably due to most of the map designers being assigned to work on BotW. 2 suffered from being too extreme. You have literal hallways for the entire continent of Leftheria, only for the next continent you unlock to be Temperantia, a giant empty plain with no quick travel methods and sparse quick travel points. Tantal isn't any better. Genbu Drifts is easily the worst area in any Xenoblade game. I'd even go so far as to say it's the worst part of any Xeno game, even worse than anything in Saga 2.

Sure, 2 looked pretty, but titans don't feel so special anymore now that there are hundreds of the buggers.

Attached: 1513712511986.jpg (1024x944, 136K)

So, this is probably the new action game they were making?

Honestly it probably just comes down to luck in getting the best world designers and artists

They're robots. Of course they'd be able to jump super high. Besides, that's a low cliff, not a mountain. And you're clearly meant to climb it, because there are plenty of unscalable sheer cliffs in the game. Also, yes, it's a good thing.

HOLY SHIT NINTENDO IS MAKING A NEW ZELDA? FUCKING SPOILERS DUDE!

HERE'S ANOTHER SPOILER FOR YA: THEY'RE ALSO GONNA MAKE ANOTHER MARIO

Magic has been absent since TP in 2006 or whatever.

> THEY'RE ALSO GONNA MAKE ANOTHER MARIO

>THEY'RE ALSO GONNA MAKE ANOTHER MARIO
HOLY SHIT GET THE PRESIDENT ON THE PHONE

>let you steal rolls from the gachaman
>he kills you if you come back in the store

I'd go even farther and say that the world's weren't even interestinng conceptually, except for Uraya and Leftheria. Everything else felt really generic by Xenoblade standards

WW was the last Zelda to have magic that wasn't a remake. Well, a magic meter. Magic is still in most Zelda games. It just uses different mechanics than a wannabe-Mana-bar.

Reminder that ALBW Zelda pretty much killed the r34 influx of BoTW Zelda, the saddest

>POKEMON

so it's going to have weightless shitty MMO combat? Dropped

OoT has some shitty sequels then.

What I want from BOTW 2. 3/4s of the game later you get the hookshot and can swing around like Spiderman. That is all.

No, I just think was very low effort and poor tasted compared to 1 and X

:D Zelda is too cute to pass up.

Monolith isn't the primary dev, they're assisting the Zelda team like they did with BotW.

They have pretty different focuses desu. Souls is waaay heavier on combat and moderately heavier on RPG elements, Zelda is waaaaay heavier on environmental interaction and puzzles, and moderately heavier on exploration. Different approaches to storytelling, too.

Uraya was amazing. Easily the best area in the game. I say that as someone who doesn't like Xenoblade 2. Gormott was also a really good area, but it was more generic and bland than Primordia, even if it was extremely well designed. Uraya had an extremely unique map layout, amazing concept, and it looked gorgeous. The enemies were unique and otherworldly, looking straight out of Mira as opposed to just throwing Volffs and Vangs around willy nilly again. There were several neat secrets tucked away off the beaten path, and it ends with a hilarious comedy scene, too.

10/10 continent.

I want to kiss princess Zelda when she farts.

Monolith Soft has upgraded every game they've announced

The characters in BotW were pretty popular. The flaws in its story had little to do with anime tropes and a lot to do with the narrative restrictions imposed by its extreme nonlinearity.

Sounds like a good launch title for their next hybrid.

Gormott was too small, and while Uraya was, like I said, conceptually amazing, the actual layout left much to be desired imo. Also it was too small too

Was this their unannounced rpg project? Fucking Zelda?
Got hyped over nothing.

And that's a good thing if BotW is any indication.

Even more RPG elements. Multiple defense/attack stats, skills that affect gameplay (like having Revali's Gale be an unlockable skill), more enemy depth (stats-wise), more attributes to weapons than just straight damage and elements, and more armor stats.

>I was so excited for some kind of open world action RPG where you could fly around on dragons and shit.
Sadly the art on hiring pages rarely has anything to do with the actual projects a company is working on, unless the games have already been announced.

And I'm pretty sure Monolith is still working on their own game.

Yeah the issue with botw story is that it all happened 100 years ago, so it's told purely in flash backs. There's no sense of investment to anything because the story already ended. It was a bizarre choice that I'm sure they won't do again in the sequel.

The enemies down on Uraya's lower level were cool (especially the fish horse things), but the enemies I mostly remember fighting on my first time exploring it were Armu, Igna and, well, Volffs (specifically the ones that can and will call for backup and keep the battle going for ages).

Yeah, no. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.

Their size didn't really bother me, since Xenoblade 2 was overall about as large as Xenoblade 1. I just think of it as if Eryth Sea, Makna Forest, Bionis Leg, and etc were separate continents. Uraya and Gormott were bigger than any area in Xenoblade 1 overall, while Leftheria was smaller.

No, they have multiple studios. They are making a new game.

I wouldn't care any more because that game would have a ridiculously long development cycle and I'd probably be dying of old age by the time it came out.

>get a spellbook at the start of the game with one spell
>spells are divided into a number of categories, Fire, Ice, lightning, Wind, Earth etc
>each category is a series of magic tunes that make a magical sentence. The more complete the setnance, the more powerful the spell
>starting spell is a simple fireball like the fire rod
>hidden throughout Hyrule or whatever are the other runes.
>finding your second fire rune lets you cast upgraded fireball (eg meteor rod), third lets ignite your weapon turning anything into a flame blade weapon (but each hit costs magic). Final will be summoning meteors to smash into your enemies. Doesn’t matter which order yo find them in.
>spirit orbs can be traded in for magic meter buffs
>can only cast if you have magic. So even if you find all the runes, you need to a big magic meter to cast powerful magic
>food can be used to refil the meter, or temporarily buff it like health and stamina. Sleeping refills it to. Some places have beds that buff it
>Wizard clothing set gives you passive regen when upgrade to level 2

Xenoblade 2 was SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than Xenoblade 1, what are you talking about? Gormott was smaller than any area in the first game, and while Leftheria was big, it didn't have a lot of stuff to fill the space with

>Uraya and Gormott were bigger than any area in Xenoblade 1 overall

I don't think it was "bizarre", it was done in service to the nonlinearity. Pieces of story would be scattered memories that you could recover in any order that were strewn throughout the environment. It was a narrative designed around the gameplay structure they chose.

I don't think it was as engrossing as a story happening in the now, but I do understand why they did it.

xenomira.wordpress.com/2019/03/28/regarding-the-zelda-monolith-soft-recruitment/
>If you look at the Wayback machine crawling of the fantasy action project recruitment page (and could read Japanese,) you’ll note that it says “New project begins!” at the very top. This is now gone in the current iteration of the fantasy action project page and says “Looking for developers experienced with action games!” instead. Furthermore, the job openings listed under the fantasy action project and the Zelda project are the exact same:

RIP fantasy game.

I think the game also underutilized the champion descendants as well. For the most part, they were more interesting than their predecessors. Game should have had some nice side quests involving them after completing each beast.

Cool, hopefully this one actually feels like Zelda again.

In terms of sheer area, both Gormott and Uraya are bigger than individual Xenoblade 1 areas. Hell, Gormott is as big as Colony 6 + Tephra Cave + Gaur Plains. It just doesn't feel as big because there really wasn't that much in it. Aside from Torigoth and the areas around the mountain that are inaccessible until much later, it's pretty much just filled with enemies. Torigoth is gigantic and stacked with content, though.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!
ZELDAAA!!!!!!!!!!
WHOOOAH WHOOOOOAH!
ZELDAAAAAA!
ZZZZZZZEEEEELLLLLLDDDDAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
:O!!!!!!!!!

>games look mediocre and barely above XY/SM

>pokemon as of now
>not bland
Alola was the exception to what we've recenlty gotten (Kalos & KANTOOO).
>wanting small corridors with little room for exploration intsead of wide open spaces with multiple methods to get to a destination

Yeah, that would've been good.

I just mean it's bizarre from a business perspective. While botw is universally praised no one gives a shit about its story at all. I'm sure if you had most people rate 3D Zelda stories it would be at the bottom. I understand it from an artistic perspective but not from a marketing perspective.

That's neat, best case scenario they're just straight up making their own game but even if this is just more assistance on BotW 2 that's still good

>Hell, Gormott is as big as Colony 6 + Tephra Cave + Gaur Plains.
When was the last time you played XB1? Gormott isn't anywhere near that big.

>You can store items through new traveling companion: Midna, gay faries, etc.
>You can put your items in a Chest
>Display items on the walls at your home that you buy.
>If they keep weapon durability add a fucking Blacksmith to fix and upgrade weapons.

Three tiers of Blacksmiths:
>Normal Blacksmith: Buy through rupees, cheaper than Legendary blacksmiths, Level armor and weapons to level 2/5 ,
>Legendary Blacksmith: Buy through rupees, more expensive than Normal Blacksmiths, levels weapons and items to level 4/5 >Godlike Blacksmith: Will make your items indestructible, will only do it depending on the good deeds you did in the world, upgrades your armor and weapons to level 5./5

>While botw is universally praised no one gives a shit about its story at all.
I think the marketers and business guys are happy with the universal praise, they don't need an amazing story as well.

The marketing guys at least succeeded magnificently at making the story LOOK interesting with that amazing switch conference trailer.

The Bionis' Leg is fucking huge. It's about 1.5x the size of Gormott.

>Gormott
>larger than Bionis' Leg
I wish it was.

When it was released on the 3DS. Gormott is huge, dude. You might want to play through 2 again. I just did NG+ to see if I still didn't like the game, and Gormott was still as big as ever.

So in other words we are at least two to three years away from a sequel

At least it's just from the show instead of star herself
And at least it's not konosuba, isekaishitters should all be shot.

>isekaishitters should all be shot.
Rising of the Shield Hero is legitimately great. It's equally as quality as Mob Psycho.

Attached: 1553632293326.gif (280x211, 945K)

this is old news, they were had stuff up last year too saying they were hiring

That was Nintendo themselves. This isnt much in the way of news though, it's not surprising that Monolith is continuing to help Nintendo since they did it with BotW and they'd need extra people to do it since right now they're working on that big project of their own

You should be shot.
Just for speaking that name, you should also be shot. This thread is now infected.

In terms of length, yes. If we're talking walkable area, Gormott is larger. Gormott is close to the size of Cauldros

You got a problem with Isekai? I'll have you know that Zero no Tsukaima is older than you are, and is Yea Forums-core.

>cool looking concept artwork
>could've been a new IP or just something on its own
>nope gotta put Zelda or Mario on every fucking game XD have fun
Fuck Nintendo and fuck Nintendo fans.

Attached: mo.jpg (1280x720, 221K)

You wish, retard.

3 things they can go with playstyle (something nintendo always does first and foremost):
>Immersive Sim.
Think Majora's Mask on steroids, with various mechanics from other games like BotW's climbing, temperature/weather, equipment, & stealth. And SS's level of depth in it's surface locations.

>Link's movement system
His acrobatics are taken up to 11. We've seen him run, jump, swim, dive, roll, climb, fly, lift, parry, dig, etc. Pretty much make Link Mario. Of course this means this would basically mean the game would be focused around traversal even more, but probably without the width/breadth of BotW's massive fields, they'd be reduced and be more focused on verticality. Think something like any one of Odyssey's levels, or area's in the Zelda series that required lots of platforming/manuevering. For comparison's sake, imagine if Clock Town was reimagined to be bigger and Link could run up walls, climb up, jump from roof to roof, etc. And since we're making a super acrobatic Link, character comparisons might point him to be similar to his Smash incarnations, Dante, or an AssCreed character.

>RPG
Take what BotW did but add more stats for customization. Different weapons & gear to utilize, and even something akin to classes. Basically TES/Dark Souls/Dragon's Dogma but more like Zelda.

Attached: princess ruto.jpg (1000x1000, 79K)

You dumb bait-whore nigger, Monolith has multiple teams. The game they were working on is still in the works. They popped out Xenoblade 2 while helping with BotW at the same time.

Why the fuck does it matter if the characters name is link? Zelda games are wildly different in gameplay, tone, setting, art style and characters. It's not like they're just making the same game over and over they're just reusing popular character names for more sales.

Please PLEASE

That's a different game moron. What's happening here is that nearly everyone at Monolith is working on that but since Nintendo is asking for help on the new Zelda they're hiring new people since everyone else is already busy

And look how shitty xenoblade 2 is as a result

Zeldaahhhhhh .Master.......swoooooooord. hahhhhhhhhhh.

Attached: file.png (1280x720, 1.82M)

There is no contract dipshit, Monolith has been owned by Nintendo outright for several years.

I've been waiting a long time for this.

Attached: 1552777225179.jpg (480x360, 35K)

And how good BotW was. The Xenoblade X team is a miracle maker.

>3
>Wind Waker
>Four Swords
>Four Swords Adventures
>Minish Cap
>Phantom Hourglass
>Spirit Tracks
>Triforce Heroes
>3

>X team
No teams exist

>linear jungle hallway
>exit out
>town is just a stone's throw away
>getting to the cliff in the opposite direction is even closer
>decent distance to get to the titan boat dock on the left side of the titan
>small ass "cave" system
>shallow lake roughly the same size as on the Leg
>cloud sea tide offers a couple of yard-long "islands" to get a few chests
>Torna's verion is even smaller
It comes close, but Bionis' Leg is bigger. Especially since everyone seems to forget the tunnels and upper field to get to colony 6 exist.

I love BotW, I love xenoblade 2.
I'm okay with this.

Attached: nod.gif (854x480, 1.81M)

Nope. Gormott is still larger. More walkable area, as I said. It's wider, even if Bionis Leg is longer. 100x100 is larger than 25x325

But it doesn't have more walkable area.

I hope they are at least working on a Xeno game on the side too.
Kinda sucks that they definitely won't have time or resources under these circumstances to deliver a Switch port of Xenoblade Chornicles X, but oh well.

>Monolith Soft, so expect mech suits, weird swords, and japanese """"humor""""
They worked on BotW, Why would it be any different?

It actually does. Play both again. Torigoth itself is like a third of the size of Bionis Leg.

Monolith wouldn't be the ones porting X. It would be a outside company. If anything the reason a port doesn't exist is because of Nintendo.

Wanna see a yandere villainess in a mainline Zelda game.

Attached: 9c858c7e0be056eadca016fdcd61bcaa.jpg (1024x1408, 247K)

>Zelda games are wildly different in gameplay, tone, setting, art style and characters

Not as much as you'd think, the overaching designs, philosophy and setting are always the sameish.
And I'm just not a fan of them.
I'm planning on getting a Switch if Fire Emblem turns out to be decent (which seems unlikely given the trailers) and I wouldn't spend more than 30 euros on BOTW,which I'd like to play just in virtue of being a supposedly really good open world RPG with tons of content behind it.Not because of the Zelda name or what comes with it,which to me just drags the experience down more than anything.

Would be cool to see a new instrument being a gimmick

See and

>three different games
what are the others?

Oh so we get a mix of the garbage that was Xenoblade 2 and BOTW?

>Fi is back.
>She have gigantic tiddies and ultra thicc thigh now.

What are you going to do about it retard?

Bait

Unexpected LUEshi/10.

So is Xfag going to be shitting up Zelda threads as well now?

>unfitting plastic toy mechs in a dull enviroment vs generic anime boy
I can't tell what's supposed to be the bait here

Why couldn't it be for a Pokémon spinoff? Nintendo is fine, they could make a new BotW alone with the experience they acquired, while GF definitely need help. Well, it's fine anyway, at least it shows they're taking this BotW2 seriously if they asked Monolith's help again. Based Monolith, savior of vidya.

Attached: 1552784287257.jpg (1280x720, 623K)

Kill yourself open world fag

fuck, I wish they'd just let monolith make its own games with more narrative, I'm not interested in zelda.

They are. They put up hiring pages for their own games months ago.

Attached: vonkarmaface.png (890x595, 453K)

Not pictured: Skell combat being complete fucking garbage.

New ips been advertised since mid 2017, could be near completion and zelda comes after

>goat.se

Skell Combat was more enjoyable than 2's combat.

Cool, I can only hope that their experience working combat systems in zelda teaches them how to make better combat systems for their rpgs, since that's the only thing about their games that I don't like.

I wish dumb frogposting scum like you would return to nothing.

Well now I definitely know you're baiting.

We found the actually bait

Outside of Skell combat in X, all three Xenoblade games had pretty fun battle systems (as soon as you remove Sharla from your party in 1 and unlock art canceling in 2, at least), and I would trade neither of the three for Zelda's simplistic as fuck combat.

It's pretty much the same thing. Limited number of arts, boring, long cooldowns with nothing to do, and getting >40% crit rate on Mythra is like activating Overdrive.

How about not making it babby tier easy for once?

Its going to be a action game this time. Plus I doubt Xenoblades will have any influence.

>and the ONLY reason for that is because OoT did this so every game has to do this.
Every game before OoT did this too, and WW and SS both broke from that mould.

No. I don't hate western stylised shit, but keep it out of Zelda. Hyrule castle and town should be the only thing that should remind you of this, moderately.

Monolith almost doubled in size after the succes of XC2. They'll be fine. The only risk is, they're new recruits, so not old fart Monolith veterans that knows their shit, but I'm confident.

Shame I thought the Xenoblade series was more interesting than the Zelda series ever was...

Does this mean Nintendo is hiring some of Monolith Softs people to work on a new Zelda title, or does it mean Monolith Softs entire team decided to make a new Zelda title? Surely not because they wouldn’t have the rights to decide that unless Nintendo gives them the approval, right?

Man I was hoping MonolithSoft would be free to make their biggest Xenoblade ever with their staff increase. I guess this means thier next game will just have Xenoblade 1 level development, which is still way better than their circumstances during 2’s.

BotW’s world was just boring compared to any Xenoblade imo

Agreed. Even the narrative and storytelling in BOTW wasn’t as interesting

>Even the narrative and storytelling in BOTW wasn’t as interesting
I mean that’s to be expected for numerous reasons, but I was expecting more from BotW’s world considering Monolith worked on it.

> No Weapon Durability
> Ability to switch between Link or Zelda any time
Oh hey that sound like a pretty goo-
> Easy to Hard Difficulty options available at the beginning, like any game in existence
Aaaand you fucked it up.
Zelda is one of the few games that don't do that unintuitive bullshit along with Souls games and it should stay that way.

Attached: 1533516988540.png (697x643, 701K)

What makes the Xenoblade's worlds interesting is how they go full surreal in some areas. I think Zelda needs to borrow from this to make vistas more interesting, but it's tricky as it should absolutely stay Zelda/Hyrule as well. I think Zora's domain in BotW pulled it off extremely well. This area 100% smells Monolith having a free card to do what they wanted, from the terrain geography to the architecture.

S O Y JUST LIKE ZELDA

>Zelda is one of the few games that don't do that unintuitive bullshit along with Souls games and it should stay that way.
As Hero Modes and such have been unlockables and the like, I think he means having it available from the word go.
Which I'd personally be okay with.

well, Zelda is like the only game Nintendo has nowadays, so it makes sense to pump them out like CoD

They're still hiring for the next Xenoblade, along with this project. So it should at the very least have more staff on it than XB1 and XBX.

It's just i hate it when games do that "Easy - Normal - Hard" thing before you even know what the game is about or how it plays.
But yeah, if user means having the master quest unlocked from the beggining i'd be down for that.

>Zelda with a good open world, combat and soundtrack, like Xenoblade

I can't believe it, after the dissapointment that was BOTW, Zelda is.....finally saved

Attached: 1551396434169.png (706x558, 969K)

They are just looking for people so they can help nintendo with zelda without having to shift people from their projects like they did with Xenoblade 2. Stop being retarded

100% agree. The easiest way to do this would be to not have the next game set in Hyrule, but for a traditional Zelda, they could try to bring in more of their amazing architecture from Xenoblade for dungeons and towns, and balance that with a medieval world that becomes more magical and out there the more you venture into dangerous areas.

Nope, have you looked at what they're hiring for? It's not just programming and support staff, but also designers and artists. It's similar to what they were hiring for the fantasy game for example. This definitely seems like it'd be a mostly Monolith project rather than Monolith giving technical support to another team.

Doesn't get me excited at all, the staff worked on BoTW and it is one of the most bland world i've ever seen, all it did was hinder the development of XB2

Do any of you faggot read? This is division 2, xenoblade is division 1. Xenoblade team isnt on this like botw

I think you need to learn what a gimmick is.

More than Monolith Soft they need to hire someone to unfuck the combat.

Should I bother getting BOTW at this point? How many years off would this be?

>Should I bother getting BOTW at this point?
Yes.
>How many years off would this be?
Considering they're just now hiring, probably 3 years from now minimum.

how's the DLC?

I wouldn't bother. It's all endgame stuff anyways aside from hard mode, which has terrible balancing turning everything into a damage sponge, and some nostalgia-bait equipment put all over the place so you're not missing out on anything by waiting to buy it anyways.

Shut the fuck up.

They can afford to do all of them at the same time, Monolith is now 3 studios, the last game they did as a single studio was X.

>> Zelda as your companion the entire game like Elizabeth or Ellie
What I'd prefer is a "B route" where you get to play as a different character.
If it's an open world you could drop that character in a different part of the world and create separate objectives for them. With good writing you could have the characters help each other out throughout their stories, and ultimately team up for the final boss.

Attached: 1548150023996.jpg (627x704, 106K)

Would rather have a remake of LttP or Zelda II.

As long as it doesn't involve microtransactions then who cares. A little side quest where you gamble rupees for alternate costumes would be fun I guess.

>WWfag doesn't know zelda lore

Why?
Did you run out of weapons? Are you seriously going to pretend that you didn't spend all game throwing weapons away because you just had too many to carry?

Fuck I can't wait for it, BotW was the best game ever imo. Very curious what type of landscape/story/enemies they're gonna go for.

Pokemon is already bland as fuck. A bland corridor at that. Look at fucking Ultra Megalopolis.

Not necessarily toon Link but I would like to see a return to child Link.

rito flies zora swims have the goron resist lava and only normal link can climb and each one could be specificaly useful for traversing different parts of an open world.

This is hiring
Hiring is always public

Thanks for adding absolutely nothing but this time with ESL writing.
Your post honestly read like a youtube comment.

i guess they could just advertise for "an action adventure project" if secrecy was important for some reason, though you probably get better applicants if you say the word zelda

Fuck you I liked the giant mechs

That's how you get people in the door
>'Holy shit, I could work on the next Zelda game! That will look so fucking good on my resume!'

Gamedev culture in Japan is also a lot easier to get into, even into larger companies like Nintendo. They will pretty much hire anyone with talent. The catch being that they will work you like a fucking dog, harder than you would ever be worked in the US AAA gamedev scene, as is the norm in Japanese business.

But working under Nintendo, even when it's with Monolith, is a great thing to have on your resume no matter what discipline you practice.

>be developer straight outta college
>always loved Zelda
>Monolith Soft is hiring to work on a new Zelda
>apply
>get it
>"we aren't actually doing anything Zelda right now, we just wanted good applicants. Go animate some dancing waifus."

Put together the two though and you'd have easily one of the best games of the decade. It's a match made in heaven.

Wind Waker 2 exists story-wise, but none of the Wind Waker sequels are anything like Wind Waker as a game which is why many people ignore them.

>Gamedev culture in Japan is also a lot easier to get into
It's not easy to join Nintendo at all. They get tons of people that wants to work for them and they're really strict.

Now.

>monolith soft Zelda
I’m hard already

Read the thread, user. 99% likely that they'll just de the world design again.

Single player-online multiplayer 4 swords with
Link
Male/ Female Zora
A Goron (since they appear to be sexless)
A Female Gerudo
Link gets a minor benefit from all biomes
Zoras get a heavy debuff in volcanic areas
Gorons can’t handle the cold
Gerudos lighting power is reduced in wooded areas
Everyone gets a different mode of transport that help keep the game fresh

I love how every single reply to this post either contains terrible ideas that aren't in line with the list you posted, or shitposting while assuming that monolith will be doing any more than they did with BotW.

i hope they're just helping with development. no autistic xenoblade garbage in my zelda games please

physics aren't a gimmick you retarded faggot.

>I'd go even farther and say that the world's weren't even interestinng conceptually
What? XB1 and XB2 both have incredibly imaginative worlds.

A dense lush jungle on the bionis' back
Floating islands overlooking a glowing sea at bionis' head
A steep glowing snowy mountain on the bionis's arm
A wartorn valley situated on a massive fucking sword
The old peaceful severed arm of the Mechonis
The vast mechanical innerworkings of the Mechonis
An incredible factory meant to produce mechon at a frightening scale
The abandoned capital of the Machina where automatons defend the city as though nothing had happened
A forbidden tower where a hostile God was previously sealed for eternity

>XB2
Nopon-made barge using titans as hotair balloons
Generic plains
A glowing subterranean swamp inside a fish
A barren industrial badlands on a dying humanoid
Floating jellyfish orbiting around a dormant titan concealed in clouds
A holy city situated on the back of a flying dragon
A desolate wartorn titan with ancient technology
A winter wonderland inside a sea turtle kept in a state of eternal freezing by the cold blood
The rotten corpse of a titan nearest to the world tree
The forgotten ruins of an ancient Earth city overrun by human zombies and titan/blade zombies
The world tree, which is actually a massive disguised super computer reaching into space
An ancient space station where the original humans died off and God sealed himself to wallow in self-loathing

Kill yourself faggot. I don't want their janky as fuck gameplay polluting my zelda games.

kinda disappointing compared to the base game but probably still worth picking up in the likely event that you play through most of what the base game has to offer and would appreciate a bit more

Seems like a good fit to be desu

>but none of the Wind Waker sequels are anything like Wind Waker as a game which is why many people ignore them
How the fuck is Phantom hour glass not like windwaker?
you fucking sail around to islands, find treasure, explore dungeons, and do what you do in ever zelda game
so what the fuck are you talking about?

Kill yourself you fucking faggot

Hopefully another playable character.
Preferably Zelda, with some actual agency in the plot for once. Link has the swordplay angle complemented with various tools, while Zelda might use familiars and fight with martial arts or have Stand powers or something.

Or you could just directly rip-off Trine and have Link/Zelda/Ganondorf sharing one body because of plot shenanigans, and have a world designed around hot-swapping between them and utilising each of their strengths.

they've been helping with zelda since skyward sword. how is this news?

Hopefully you should kill yourself with your shit taste

Ah, shit. BOTW didn't blow minds, but it at least ran decently enough.
I don't want the next Zelda game to run at 320p16fps.
Monolith soft can't optimize for shit.

KING_ZELL WAS R I G H T
KING_ZELL WAS R I G H T
KING_ZELL WAS R I G H T

BOTW2 HYPE

>plaging monolith with shitmon bullshit

>next game is a mix between Xenoblade 2 and Zelda

Yes please...

>link gets a linebeck jacket
nice touch

why monolith?
don't tell me they implement that stupid gameplay from XBC2

cool
is anyone else getting 12 hours added on to the post times?

Tetra is the cutest Zelda
spunky tomboys are the best, delicious brown is just icing on the cake

>No. I don't hate western stylised shit, but keep it out of Westerm stylised shit.

>why monolith?
They've been helping with Zelda since Skyward Sword and played a massive role in the development of BoTW (The entire open world and world design)

I hope they're just helping because the actual gameplay in Xenoblade 2 is fucking ass and outdated. You don't interact with anything at all and their character design artists are fucking shite.

Nintendo canned TP2 for the Wii Zapper tech demo, sorry
iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/zelda-ocarina-of-time/3/0
>Miyamoto: Well, once we finished the Ocarina of Time, we decided to make Majora’s Mask as a kind of side story.
>Iwata: Oh right, I remember that. When I first heard of the idea for Link’s Crossbow Training it really reminded me of Majora’s Mask. I remember thinking that it was aiming to make use of the game world and game system of Twilight Princess in a different setting.
>Miyamoto: ... I do not believe that an epic tale alone can make a great game. I mean, depending on what kind of characteristics are added to a game, the fundamental enjoyment behind it can get lost amongst all the gadgets. With that in mind, we took some time to ponder over the new project and I ultimately suggested that we make a game based on the Twilight Princess that utilized the Wii Zapper.
>Iwata: ... [W]hat was the staff’s reaction when you proposed that idea?
>Miyamoto: They were kind of shocked. It was like killing all the ideas they were working with until then. Some even felt that we should not do something which makes it look like we are reusing the already existing software and selling it to the consumers.
TL;DR: blame it on Miyamoto

they are the reason why botw is good

they only helped with shit like geometry and topography. they didn't help with the actual systems of the game like the chemistry engine

>their character design artists
Monolith doesn't have a dedicated character designer, the character designs in Xenoblade 2 were one-off things by a freelancer and outsourced character designers in the industry.

>Acting like every big business doesn’t do this exact same shit

Miyamoto is a hack. He needs to be put in an old folks home and forgotten about.

Fuck off, faggot.

DOUBLE NIGGERS

You retarded faggots. EPD is undoubtedly still the lead developer here. They use this multi-developer structure for all the big games now. Just like every other Japanese developer.

Good, Monolith are fucking masters at world design, XB1, XBX, BoTW and XB2 are fucking gorgeous.

post yfw Fi comes back and Link/Fi play like Rex/Pyra

This. Also if a new Zelda just started development then we wouldn't be getting one next year which is what the leakers have been saying. The BOTW sequel is probably in full development now and Monolith is recruiting to help

Why you all keep saying "BoTW sequel"? Where this bullshit coming from?

It's interesting that the Goddess Symbols are prominent in that artwork. They've been barely mentioned since Twilight Princess.

Maybe they're doing an Oracle remake or doing that 3rd Oracle game that was scrapped?

fucking retard

best leak here

this only means that the BOTW sequel by EPD is ramping up in production

I posted the wrong interview link btw

>REEEEEE POKÉMON NEEDS TO BE XENOBLADE 2 STYLE OPEN WORLD MMO WITH ALL REGIONS

Shut the fuck up

komi is adorable

They are hiring now though?

That means we won’t see the next Zelda until 2021 at the least unless they are going to pull a Majora’s Mask and use the same assets

don't be retarded. they're hiring to help the main team

why do autists think pokemmo is good?
its already proven to be garbage with that gray-area online fangame, which is using unova stuff now.

They are hiring for FIVE positions. Do you honestly believe that the game can't start development until those five dudes are there?

I like how the symbol itself is a combination of Ocarina, Wind Waker and Skyward Sword

Nah the 5 year cycle is 2022 at the very least but who knows

The aesthetic of that advertisement already looks better than anything from BotW

OH boy seeds. Oh boy enemies that are different colors.

>hopefully they learned a lot of things from last time

Hopefully they learned how to make a good game. The shrine/seed simulator was fucking boring.

[spoilers]The physics were fun[/spoiler]

hopefully you kill yourself like the nigger you are

Zelda has been terrible since twiight princess prove me wrong autis

You're wrong, faggot

Because the last time to Zelda games released on one home console, the second was a sequel.
I can't believe there hasn't been a single Zelda between MM and BotW.
