You can still smack him out of 623C so I guess it's the matter of knowing if he's going to 623C vs. 236C and reacting accordingly.

Merk tends to dip out earlier than usual these days.
Byak's 236B rekka strings have gaps, you just have to get a feel for when a Byak uses either the A or B version

yeah, I don't think he was pressing anything at the end of our last game so I thought something might have happened. I'm glad I didn't eat that raw IWEX since I was running up to end the match since it seemed off.

She can counter everything except grabs and lows.

It counters a good chunk of mid and highs, apparently there are some moves that aren't low that do go through it, but it loses to lows.
If she parries a projectile and you're close enough, you will get vortexed into it for a full 3k combo.
If you're far enough away, or CS it up close, you can avoid getting dragged in

Her counter activates this hitbox, if you get hit by it you get sucked in

Yuzu can even counter your veil off.

Curiously enough, she can't parry projectiles if they hit low enough to the ground like nanase's j.236b or vatista's stellas in various ways.

Honestly, even if there was an overwhelming response from international players requesting improved netcode I don't think anything would change. We would just get more of " well it works on our amazing japanese internet with people who live extremely close together so it's good enough for 500 miles apart matches on comcast"

Sure, but I'm saying this is an issue that extends beyond just UNIST, it's applicable to pretty much every japanese fighting game. The netcode is always made to be "good enough" for jp internet which is a fairly low standard since jp internet is godly. The netcode is usually made in house because jp companies want to do their own thing instead of using ggpo.

Given the stats about world champions in a lot of competitions it really take 4 to 8 years to really reach that top level.

Eh, don't worry too much about it. I purchased the game when it came to the West last January and only recently started to be able to touch the high level players in these threads.

That being said, I think if you put in an hour or two everyday to practice some BnBs and just keep coming consistently, you'll likely find errors in their play eventually that allow you to get in some BnBs and from there it's just working on exploiting said mistake 4-5 times to victory.

Half a year is nothing.

They wouldn't. The vast majority of fighting game cabs in japan don't have a usb port for controllers, and I'm pretty sure the cab that unist is on is no exception.

Those arcade cabs do have USB ports so it's not impossible.

what type of arcade machines does uni use? My city recently got a round one arcade that has nesica+ machines that I've been playing p4 ultimax on. they don't have any usbs. I'm not so naive to think under night would ever appear stateside but I've never seen any machines that do have controller ports. except tekken 3 maybe

I could see a switch port happening. Just because Central Fiction, BBTag, and the Guilty Gear anniversary are all on the switch. Not to mention DBFZ, MK11, and Samurai Shodown. Obviously I would care more about getting an update, new version, or sequel, but a switch version is reasonable.

Switch port when?

Earliest possible would be post Evo. I don't see them announcing anything until then. Plus unless there is cross play (highly unlikely) a switch port would be the worst version with probably the smallest playerbase. Even if it sells well, it probably will have very bad player retention.
