MGR is a pretty good starting point, especially if you are already a Metal Gear fan. Otherwise the DMC series (I'd recommend 1 or 3 but you could probably go straight to 5 if you really want to) or the older God of War games as a good starting point. Bayonetta is my favorite but I personally think it's one of those games you can really only appreciate when you have enough familiarity with the genre to understand everything it does right.

Honestly, this might be why I avoided hack and slash games from the start. I touched a dynasty warrior game on my 360 a long time ago and was absolutely turned off.

DMC is my favorite series of all time, with 3 being my favorite game. You could add NieR: Automata, God of War 1-3 (not nu GoW) and Darksiders to your list of games to try too. If you like those, Astral Chain comes out in a few months, it's something I'm interested in personally. All 3 you listed are also good.

MGRR is the easiest and most penetrable. From there go to Bayonetta as it's got more in common with MGRR but with added depth and quirks. From there either go into Bayo2 or jump into DMC.
Throw in others in between any of these games if you want.

Bayo for beginners. Onece you get some ecperies, go the DMC. Then once you've finished 4 you can check out MGR and DMC5.
Some other action games in dead franchises that you might want to check out are Ninja Gaiden 1-2 and God of War1-3

It's extremely casual because it had to sell to Metal Gear fans and it is okay as babbies' first action game until you graduate into actually good action games
