I'm happy someone picked up the torch and is using proper screenshots. Keep it up bro
Try diving, avoid big fish
>Backstabbing her
>Not learning to deflect and just deflect deathblowing both of her HP dots
Shamefur dispray young Shinobi.
Just want to say thanks for these threads. I'm a retarded shitter so I've gotten some good tips from the help threads. Fireworks OP as SHIT.
I mean, naturally I platinum'd the game in under six hours first-trying every boss with perfect parry strings, but you get the idea. Thanks Yea Forums.
Pretty sure it’s accessible after you get to the palace grounds idol. Open the front gate of the palace and... use the grapple on some well-hidden trees or something.
go to palace grounds idol, go into the building and out the door next to the chest, immediately turn right and look up, at the building roof, there is a grapple point you can use to get there.
And i still cannot beat her even with this cheese :(
I hope they'll be some nice fanart of her.
Cause I like crazy girls
I think I'm reaching the end. I don't want to get a bad ending, but at the same time, I don't want to spoil me anything. Fuck this feel
Thumbnail looks like fucking minecraft
Sleepy kuro
Been avoiding spoilers so far I wanted to pop in just ask a quick question. I beat the drunkard with the help of what I assume is the 'Siegmeyer' of this game, but he died of poison right after we beat him. Am I fucked?
he never shows up again
Nope.
I don’t think he is important to any achievements or endings.
That's too bad. On one hand I'm glad I'm not missing out on much on the other he seemed like a cool dude; even gave me sake before he died.
So I just talked to the Divine Child and she talked about a priest in a cave.
If I go talk to him does that automatically put me on that ending? Cause I have nothing else to do now.
this shit just aint right
I tried the fight a few times with different strats and could not get him to survive. The drunkard just smears him. Maybe somebody gud could keep him alive but he seems to only be for just that one fight.
firecrackers are your friend
>die a million times vs guardian ape
>almost immediately fight Owl
>die a million times
>almost immediately fight corrupted monk
Goddam it, is the rest of this game a boss rush?
you can get the items for all the endings except the shura ending and at the end of the game you can choose which one you want.
i'm so shit the fat drunk is kicking my ass, if the start of the game is this hard for me i'm in for some pain
whistle for hilarious monkey brawl
What if like... the monkeys can like use swords, man... TWO swords...
Okay that's neat.
Wow this guy just
Every boss and nearly every mini boss has been a wall for me but I’m still having a blast, hang in there
It gets a lot harder user. Try not to burn yourself out or let the other anons who are godly at this game get you down. You are going to make it.
i dont even need help
im just saying it aint right
Not him but how's the NG+ entry work? Do you get forced in like DS1 or is it something you can trigger later?
Gets easier. Takes a lot of time to git gud, but it happens eventually. Don't give up just yet.
Where are the saves at? I'm feeling one more NG+ run but I have to get three more endings, Shura for the bosses and Purification and I'm doing Return now.
I was trying to play souls until the drunkard taught me that this game has no stamina bar. Haul ass and go ham.
What happens if you lure that dude into the abandoned dungeon? Do I get anything for it?
Wait. You can do more than one ending during the same playthrough? Can you still fuck up some of them?
I can't bring myself to do it. He seems like a bro and that doc was shady as fuck.
Is black hat’s questline done after you get him to the grave? He talks about going back to the castle but he never leaves for me
Do any of the combat arts even remotely rival chadimonji? I'm getting really tired of buying ne skills just to go right back to ichimonji.
Didnt even realize you can just backstab her lmao
This was one of the better fights in the game so far imho
Couple questions on things I missed. ( Just finished. Hell of a game. )
After drop dropkilling snek, you land on the other side of the broken bridge. There was at least 1 item there, maybe also a cave? I derped and fell back into the snek-lake, couldn't get back there after. What did I miss?
What do I do with the snakehearts? Description says they look like persimmons, so I suppose you could feed them to the fake heir?
Which leads to my final question. Any moon presence type afterboss I missed? I ask because the hearts give me an umbilical cord vibe, been paranoid about missing some major boss fight. I should have all bosses though, got 9 prayer necklaces + all the apparations.
Any good source on lore yet? I hope Vaati is on this shit, tons of peculiar curious things. Whose fucking little palanquin was that in snake valley?
No, but you can meet the requirements for the three non-shura endings all at once. You get to choose which one you want after the final boss.
Fucking HOW
I uninstalled a pirated copy and switched it to another version and my save was still there so im guessing they are outside of the game files somewhere. I would also like an answer to this question so i do not have to play the game again.
>I hope Vaati is on this shit
I'm stuck. Got to Ashina Castle but can't figure out where to go from there, beat Lady Butterfly but that didn't open any leads as far as I can tell.
I went into Sunken Valley but there doesn't seem to be much of anything there. Am I supposed to kill Headless now?
if memory serves, he tries to experiment on whoever you send which fails, he then asks you to get red eyes, give those to him too and eavesdrop to hear a weird conversation. then he vanished and I never saw him again. Admittedly I may have missed a final step.
You need to fight Genichiro.
What I'm I doing wrong? I feel like I'm complete ass at this game. Yeah, yeah, "git gud", but how? I don't know why, but I can't adapt to the play-style of this game, or something. Going from Soulslike to Nioh was a little hard, but going from those games to Sekiro is a nightmare. I think the most frustrating thing to me is that fact that bosses just constantly fucking block everysingle attack, and the game expects me to parry everysingle attack of theirs too. Tl;dr, how do I git gud?
Throw a ceramic shard at her ass when you are stealthed behind her. It bugs the AI and makes her hostile but she doesn't know where you are. Still a hard fight and i haven't been able to beat her.
Guardian Ape phase two tips? I just don't see an opening, and he's all unpredictable with his swimming movements
someone said to deflect the vertical swing, but I don't think I've even seen that move yet
OP I tried googling this exactly. TY for making a thread.
1: Yes, there are a few trash consumables in a small alcove. Nothing worth going back for.
2: You are correct. You can get the "true" ending by feeding them to her.
3: Shura ending (side with owl over divine heir) has two unique bosses, and there's an optional revamp of a prior boss for the purification ending.
4: I haven't found any good lore videos yet.
Got him, poor guy. Not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but still tough because there's a pretty long trial and error phase where you have to figure out what to do for each new move.
Stop playing it like something it's not and git gud.
This. Pls spoonfeed me senpai
need to fight genichiro to get the key to the gunfort shrine at the end of sunken valley
where he at
You just need to practice deflections. I am also shit so do not take what i say seriously.
Parry Parry Parry. He does a combo that leaves him open if you parry all of his strikes
follow the smoke signals on the roofs and you will get to a window in the castle
Atop Ashina Castle.
if you deflect more than one attack in the same string he will counter with the giant overhead swing, deflect that for a huge opening, run away when he gets up though, he almost always screams
Don’t worry about health at all. The name of the game is POSTURE. Parry everything you can while minding your own posture and punishing when you feel you can. STAY ON them so their posture does not recover. Even if they block your attacks they will still take posture damage so don’t be afraid to get a couple strikes in and then return to parrying.
Top of the castle. If you want to find him yourself do not click this spoiler
You have to go along on top of the castle. When you find the spinning blade assholes you are on the right path.
youre a shinobi user, did owl teach you nothing?
>He likes a non shit internet personality.
What do you want from him? To not like shit? fucking dumb faggot.
>I may have missed a final step
You fight him and his test subject on a little island near the underwater entrance to his lair.
>not killing ingeniously
Here's a tip: Deflections are easier to execute than you think you think they are
>Nine hours in
>Still stuck on Lady Butterfly
Am I too casual for this game?
how the FUCK do you go under water
you can beat bosses really fucking fast barely touching their actual hp meter by building up their posture
you can whittle down their hp by cheesing and running but that takes longer.
by knowing their attacks and being able to deflect, you are rewarded with a faster fight.
thats it. compare it with previous souls games where the only way you got faster fights was by red tearstone ring, buffs, overleveling, summoing, etc.
thanks user, i knew that couldnt have been the end of it.
It's a skill you learn. Don't worry about missing it, since it's mandatory.
It's a little of both. Usually you need to get bosses' posture meters yellow before their recovery slows to the point of being manageable. Hold the dodge button to run around like a faggot, getting a feel for their combos while you get the occasional running slash in. Once you've taken around 20% of their health bar, their posture meter should turn yellow, and then you can wear them down through parrying, mikishi counters, and jump kicks. You need to stop thinking like you're in a souls game and start thinking like you're playing Punch Out.
You get the ability to dive by defeating a mandatory boss.
beat the boss in ashina depths
skill received after corrupted monk
>Sekiro: “ahem, FUCK THE IRON CODE and FUCK OWL”
>Owl: *cries* “w-why won’t you assist me in my deluded power fantasy...”
This guy turned out to be a big disappointment. A good fight but should have had some cool motivation like wanting to use the power to make Shinobis the ruling class but no, nothing of substance
when you are "good" at a boss you are much more likely to kill it by posture damage then by health damage. that means that you should keep attacking into their block (until they Deflect, which signifies they're going to counterattack), and you should try to Deflect everything that's easy to do so, and you should learn the super-counters to the "death mark" attacks, and you should *keep attacking the boss*
if you back away and try to get in one safe hit it will take forever. if you go full ham and perform the correct counters most bosses die extremely fast
Is there a way to cheese the fight with owl. I'm lazy and tired of trying.
Butterfly lady is behind him. Shes the pleb filter it would seem.
Fill up his posture bar.
Good tip that I haven’t seen around much, you can deathblow the corrupted monk at the beginning of the first phase when she jumps into the arena if you’re on one of the branches. Most probably know that you can also deathblow her when coming out of the illusion state (though this is harder to pull off in my opinion when jumping around)
Blazing Bull is the pleb filter.
His goal is to conquer Japan. Makes more sense than just making ninjas rule the ashina clan.
if you want her to eat those nice tasty persimmons you have i hope you fuckin love eating lots of rice
Why not deathblow her twice?
literally everybody in the sengoku era had a deluded power fantasy
shinobi are just rogues you stupid nigger.
Blazing bull is actually insanely easy once you know the strat. I think I only got hit once by him using it. You basically just run to the side of him and constantly get in running swipes while he's turning.
Not him but I gotta say I’m proud of the legit positivity in this thread anons
>nation is CONSTANTLY at war with supposedly "honorable" samurai backstabbing each other
>conscripting peasants by the thousands to die pointless deaths in wars that dont involve them
>using old oaths of loyalty the shinobi gave to samurai to press them into service as bodyguards and spies and so on
>knows that shinobi are small in number and no match for full armies, and something special will be needed to fix this shit
>wants to take the divine blood and conquer the country to stop this crazy bullshit and put an end to the wars
>foster son says 'nah' and kills him because he cant see the greater good
siding with owl should not have been the bad ending. i GENUINELY thought that siding with owl was what you were supposed to do when i played through the game the first time.
i hope you love eating a lot of fucking rice if you want her to eat your tasty snake livers
This.
Dude at work has been stuck on the bull for 3 days, meanwhile I'm finishing up NG+++ for the final ending.
It took me a solid hour of attempts last night but I eventually got him. Take an Akos Sugar before going in.
Also:
>after his double shiriken attack, he does a slam move. You can dark souls-dodge to the side if you’re close to him which opens him up to a hit or two.
>when he throws the ball that stops you from healing, if you’re close but have to dodge, just tank the debuff because he will be hittable.
>his attacks aren’t that hard to deal with honestly it’s just the fact that he has a MASSIVE posture and health bar. I didn’t deathblow him until either health bar was below 50%
Come user why’s every villain gotta have some morally grey “plan”, can’t a guy just be an asshole?
Positivity on Yea Forums? Lets kill it. Rite guise? So fucking pozzed XD LMAO
"evil" is just a buzzword for misunderstood in most cases.
always remember that no one considers themselves to be a villain, and very few people will consciously make a decision that they know is wrong, and even if they do, they'll still defend that decision because in their mind, it was the best option available to them at the time
Any advice for the guardian ape? I can't even get past what I assume is his first phase. Is this a simple hit and run fight?
Er what I meant to say was, get good anonymous!
Ok this is some good info I guess, but I didn’t get that indication from him that he cared about “the greater good.” Not even Ashina gives a fuck about “Japan” in the literal sense. They care about holding onto their land which is more or less a provincial empire. From Genichuro I sense more of a care about Ashina (even though his dad hates him) but Owl just seems like a bitchy old man who gets annoyed his foster child doesn’t want to hand over immortality
>Any advice for the guardian ape?
Kill him until he dies.
It’s also possible for people to constantly waver in the head, even while committing to an act. It could very well be that Owl is like “What the fuck am I even doing” half the time.
Parry. Also fire, fireworks, spear.
the whole line of "why can't you understand your fathers will" is what tips it off. if he was a mustache twirling cartoon villain muh power stereotype he'd not say that.
bait his lunge attacks and hit him in the ass when he whiffs them.
He gets stunned when you get a few hits on his face. He really isn't that bad when it comes down to it. The first phase is the hardest part because you can barely parry any of his attacks. Second phase is basically a parry check.
charged flame cannon makes him flip out for a bit whilst hes on fire and does a ton of damage, hitting his back legs a few times trips him for more free damage. poop throw and jumping grab can be dodged by running tightly around him.
He only has like 5 different attacks. Learn them and capitalize appropriately. This might depend on your attack, but for me, he staggered after every 6-7 hits I did, so I also knew to capitalize on that. The best opportunity to hit him is when he does that lay on his back and thrash thing.
He's past the snake valley at the top of the castle
In the area you beat the general miniboss immediately after chained ogre look on the middle left of the Canyon, there's a grapple tree there that takes you to snake valley
thank you, got him
his phase 2 is really easy when you realize that his swim attacks don't do much posture damage
Idk, that line seems like a “I’m your dad you have to do what I say.” Don’t get me wrong I still like his character as a mysterious rogue (ALSO, wasn’t it owl that stabbed Sekiro in the back at Hirata temple???????) but I just wish he was a bit more ambitious
Can someone explain to me how to get the “Second” Hirata estates memory bell? I’m up to fountainhead but haven’t fought the boss. I basically want to fight as many of the bosses my first play through, but from what I understand there are 2 locked behind the “bad” ending.
the bad ending doesnt involve the second hirata memory.
>Drop down into them
>Cyclone
>Over half of the monkey squad is dead
Ooooohhhhh nnnnoooooooo.
you need to eavesdrop a few conversations. first is emma and isshin, second is emma and kuro, then talk to emma up the stairs from kuros room. then speak to emma at the graves, then eavesdrop emma and the sculptor. then she finally gives you the bell.
Look up purification ending process. Though you know a lot for your first play through.
Damn that's a tight butt
So has anybody ever actually used a Handful of Ass item in actual combat and not just fucking around to see what it does?
this is also required if you want to get all 40 prayer beads in one playthrough, otherwise you will miss 2
This is more a lore question but how does Genichiro killing himself with the second Mortal Blade revive Isshin in his prime?
only ever do hit and runs in the very early phase of fights to lower the HP bar to reduce posture regen
Finally got Juzou without taking damage. It's not that hard but he would constantly hit me with his step attack he does before doing his palm strike, shit is fucking annoying. Can't wait to do the old lady tomorrow.
If I’ve already killed corrupted monk have I missed my opportunity to eavesdrop?
It seems like Emma is just hanging around in Kuros room but not talking to him
Yep. I beat Seven Spears with it. It stops him from doing that huge overhead sweeping maneuver that does posture damage even if you do a perfect parry.
no that point of no return is the fountainhead palace boss i think
you need to wallhug the other side of the screen wall to get the eavesdrop marker.
Nope. That's the end of it for a while, actually. After the monk, that is.
There is a scroll behind isshin's room which says that the Black mortal blade acts as a Key that "opens" the way to the Underworld. I'm really hoping for a meaty dlc expansion for this game.
Black mortal blade opens up the gate to the underworld, allowing isshin to appear through the wound (gate)
I don't recall DS1 being forced. I guess it's been a long time.
In any case, no, it's not forced. The game asks you after the (skippable, thank goodness) credits if you want to start the 2nd playthrough. If you answer no, you continue the current one, and the choice gets added to the Sculptor's Idols.
when and where do you eavesdrop on emma and isshin
DS2 was the game that introduced that.
>I don't recall DS1 being forced.
The only game that gives you a choice is DS3.
>second seven spears fight
>use whistle with that final skill on the prosthetic tree to create a decoy sound and get a stealth kill
>puppeteer his wife's son
>first phase cheesed completely
Thinking like a shinobi
after Owl, on the balcony outside his room
if i missed the eavesdrop on emma and sculptor am i just fucked?
double jump when the red kanji shows up and abuse posture damage
I love how they re-used some Fools Idol voice acting for her during her attacks. Kino as fuck ghost voices.
>get to o'rin of the water
>realize you can jump over pretty much every one of her attacks and get a couple hits in
depends how far you are, the eavesdrops and conversations all have to be done in order, if you are before the boss at the top of fountainhead it should still be doable.
Even though Gyoubu wasn’t that hard it was definitely one of the most kino fights
MY NAAAAAAAME
>dub
kys
What happens if you side with Owl because that nigga dead AF in my playthrough
>Dub
Yikes
Cool thanks. Yeah, DS1 and Bloodborne both obnoxiously kick you into NG+ after the last boss. I think Demon's too.
Not him but I already did two playthroughs with one different language for each, I think both of them have their highs and lows. Gyoubu's dub is pretty rad
>mfw double health back on deathblow
I always and i mean always somehow miss it. I end up on the other side of her looking like a retard. I'll get her eventually.
>jap voices
Hello cringe department
Tbh I just didn’t want to look at subtitles my first playthrough, I’ll do the nip voices for NG+ (assuming there is a NG+)
The game defaults in Jap for a reason.
Emma is in the room with kuro now though, she never returns to the temple to speak to the scultpor right?
youtube.com
For those who used the Dub
Now that the dust has settled should this game have had fashion and other weapons or were you satisfied with the very stealthy choice of ORANGE ROBE and katana
Have you eavesdropped on kuro and Emma?
The game is balanced around the weapon you have, introducing other weapons would weaken the gameplay because they'd have to compensate in the enemy design.
no
Loss of armor sucked, fashion makes more playthroughs silly and fun. Katana is fine, the bosses are all tuned around the one weapon so they can be less forgiving to retards using bad weapons.
No, but ive beaten the corrupted monk and guardian ape
I can't beat guardian ape??
helpppp
>not playing with New Jersey dub
Ay Tone, dis guys got no head and he just pulled my soul outta my asshole. Sick shit
>orange robe
After I got to the temple, I could appreciate just how much the earthy tones disguised you among the autumn trees. I do wish they had different outfits as collectables, maybe with other effects or something. I just love collecting items in these games. I always want more.
I'm fine with the katana. Would like to have seen less restrictions on the prosthetics; having them tied to a resource makes me so unwilling to use them. Also, I was expecting some kind of cannon prosthetic after Gun Fort. Where's our cannon?
Based.
Do the NPCs die if you let them have Dragonrot for too long?
There's a cave entrance I don't know how to get to. It's close to the crow mob, the first one. It's down on the side of a cliff, some stone lanterns in front. How do I get there? What's in there?
I did not miss any of that to be honest. I wish there were more unique items to reward exploration, but not necessarily gear. Even lore bits would be cool, like some ultra rare booze or some scrolls.
No, it just inhibits their quest lines.
You need to do that. Then speak to Emma alone several times in different locations. She will eventually tell you she's going back to the sculptor. After that she never left his side for me until after fountainhead was finished. This is all assuming you've also beaten Owl
First phase has 3 punish windows, when he do combo that ends up in jumping attack, when he do the upper slash thing that ends up in him falling down and trashing, and when he does jump grab.
Second phase if you parry properly it will end up in him doing super telegraphed overhead smash, which you can parry. Then he will fall down so you can attack him easily
I'm fairly convinced that cave is there solely to teach you that this game isn't like Dark Souls, and you can fall for fucking miles before you take damage. And if you fall off the cliff, you don't die.
Just jump, user.
I started using prosthetics more after getting the knife. It is pretty cool having to keep a balance between life and extra emblems.
Also, say what you want about Vaati, but that prosthetic art challenge was top notch and made me want some crazier prosthetics. I hope there is some DLC with new stuff.
>no “Traveller from the West” character secret boss wearing fluted armour with claymore
>no “Moon Scented Hunter” with threaded cane and eldritch claw hand
Missed opportunity desu
What anons said, the katana is fine but orange gets boring after awhile
I wanna wear pink like ken did in the second mission of ninja blade
I cant find a picture
And now I remembered that From made Ninja Blade.
Oh how far they've come.
What are the carp's eyes for?
why the fuck am i having such a hard time with the minibosses in this game?, even more than the real bosses
that purple caped lone shadow ninja in the cave below the wounded samurai has fucked me more times than i can even count, after having beat butterfly lady in my 3rd attempt this honestly feels frustrating as fuck, why do i always choke?, parrying his attacks fills my posture bar into the sky so im forced to go back and then of course he starts fucking me with his kicks
im loving this game, but even the battles that i win don't really fill me with any satisfaction, like if if i'd won out of pure luck, any tips on how to get better? please someone?
Have not beaten owl, thanks user
>throw ceramic shard
>enemies ignore it
>throwing it at them makes them come towards you
how the fuck do you use this item properly
If they ever do some BB bullshit it has to be hunter gear with sawblade and blunderbuss
Remember that you can almost always get a free deathblow on mini-bosses through stealth.
I dont think theyve come that far
They just found something that the public likes
>Get stuck on Owl for like 3 days
>Come back today, beat him in one go without getting hit
>Realize right after that I have zero desire to keep playing
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
>a bunch of internet autists end up being more creative than From
That being said the finger whistle is amazing at points
Hide and throw it at them, stealth blow when they come over
Would have been too much to have two westerners, since Armored Knight is Portuguese
>Samefagging this hard
Nice try, Vaati.
>the knife
I do very much like that item, especially coupled with the deathblow regen. I do wish you either had one or two extra uses of it, or you could just sacrifice your HP as much as you wanted, but those are just nitpicks. I just really enjoy the prosthetics, way more than I thought I would.
And what art challenge? He had his viewers design some prosthetics or something?
To From's credit, I think I managed to find a good use for every single prosthetic. Pro tip: don't sleep on the umbrella. Every variation of it is incredible, especially the lilac one.
It is retarded. You lock onto an enemy, throw it at them, and they go investigate the place from where you threw it. Even though logically they should have no idea where it exactly came from, since the sound happens when it hits their body, not when you fling it.
How are they more creative than From. At least prove it if you're gonna claim something like that, for a game where every prosthetic is insanely good.
wtf the seven spears guy you are forced to fight with another enemy, bro fell off the damn world and I didn't get any items
Didn't know you can backstab her.
I was struggling until I realized literally all you had to do was parry and guard. Just ignore her vit.
>beat second guardian ape in the poison pool cave
>head into hidden forest, notice the idol there is black out again, go back
>one of those shaman assholes ha set up shop right there in the arena
Fuck you asshole you’re lucky I don’t have any divine confetti left to beat your dumb ASS
Which “view” wins?
>first seeing The Old One
>first seeing Anor londo
>first seeing Majula
>first seeing the Fishing Hamlet
>first seeing Irythll
>first seeing Fountainhead Palace
Or first seeing the Maiden In Blacks cunny
>abuse
It's hardly abuse when it's a tutorial at the beginning of the game, but yes, I did that in addition to deflection.
m.imgur.com
Just had to google it
Anor londo is great but is somewhat weaker because the first look is relegated to a cutscene. Mibu Village and Fountainhead are so much cooler especially because you get to explore the entirety of the latter thanks to grappling and swimming.
>Pro tip: don't sleep on the umbrella
So much this, purple one blocks terror, orange blocks fire and scares beasts when used, has a huge deflect window and blocks chip damage, and R1 out of it does great damage. Honesty my favourite tool.
>O'Rin of the Water
>Can't attack you if you hide in the water
tee hee!
I finally killed that fucking bitch O'rin. If anyone else is having as much trouble as i did, use the gacho candy to buff your posture. It really fucking helps if you cannot parry every attack she does.
>Image doesn't exist
Epic.
What are some other games like this one and Dark Souls? In terms of having combat that is focused on fundamental fighting skills instead of complex stuff.
Something like Aria of Sorrow would fit what I like. Each weapon has one attack and the little details in how they function can make for very different gameplay (like having landing lag or not) since the game is more about positioning instead of flashy combos.
get the purple umbrella arm, hold R2 until its safe then press R1. repeat until it is dead (only takes a few)
Im assuming the haters just got tired
Probably Fishing Hamlet or Old One for me.
Hollow Knight
I'm at the part where Ashina Castle is burning after you've gotten the dragon's tear, how do you go over the mud wall over to Ashina Outskirts to help the dying soldier? I'm kind of at a loss here.
Fountainhead I think, because it also has music that makes the place just so surreal.
Anor Londo only looks amazing in the few second cutscene, then after that you realize you never get to explore the actual city, just the chappel and the cathedral.
what's that item, and how do i get back there?
You'll get it after the context-sensitive event at the location you're standing
Fountainhead Palace is my favorite area in any of those games in terms of visual design. I love flooded stuff.
Also, I really like the jumping enemies. If they make a DLC, I would love to see a skill tree with their fighting style, like the temple arts tree.
Go on...
You go from the Old Grave idol, the attacking forces built a bridge over the chasm that had a destroyed bridge before.
You should know the difference between victory and honor
Grapple the wall right by the guy and go through the rooftops until you see the kite. Or you can just go through the Old Grave idol area yourself to get there, the Kite is just a big grapple point to get there fast.
I would except getting money in this game fucking stinks
I love them too, they are the Okami warrior women if you were wondering. It seems like the Corrupted Monk was one as well judging from her long-necked proportions and tiny face mask.
yea, i was there before but i fell off.
Also, after you've made him fall to the ground with a deflect, you can use the spear tool to pull out the centipede out of its neck stump and deal a ton of damage to it.
OH, I have no idea how to get there then. You land there after the event but it's on the other side of the broken bridge so I'm not sure if there's a way to get it again
Out of those choices, Irithyll for sure. In Sekiro, I actually really like the framing and level progression of the Outskirts. It was a really impressive introduction to the game for me. If I were to choose the area I was most impressed with, then probably Senpou. Buddhist temples in the mountains is my jam, and I would unironically become a monk if they told me I got to live in a place like that.
You should also explore all of the areas in Castle and Outskirts again, tons of new stuff like new minibosses etc.
For example there is a strong red eyes miniboss in the castle dojo now, and a very strong duo of dual wielding monkeys with a monkey army at the serpent god shrine.
fucking HOW?
>go through convoluted secret path
>find item
>ceramic shard
t-thanks
?
It's easy as fuck
You get like 5-6 thousand coins in a 2-3 minute run of stealth kills in Fountainhead
My name is Robert and having shoved that metal dude down the bridge was one of my all time best From moments.
use gachiin's sugar to sneak behind them and make the swordboi a puppet
You can eat a gachi sugar and backstab/puppeteer the samurai lord guy. I did it the hard way and played keepaway taking potshots at the samurai :(
...
Gachi sugar, stealth kill the sword guy and puppeteer him
>Expecting good rewards for exploring in a From game
>literally say in my post that I’ve just entered the hidden forest
>LOL just farm fountainhead
???
Fuck Snake Eyes
2nd best waifu after Corrupted Monk
This would have been a perfect gimmick fight if only it was a bit harder
First one is weak to poison blade and firecracker
Second one is also weak to firecracker and can be BTFO by the other enemies cannon fire (stay close to her and apply pressure, wait to hear other assholes fire their cannon, gtfo before it hits you and hits her)
Can npcs die to dragonrot
No.
What’s happening here, poison damage?
bullshit
then whats the point?
And? You get anything for your trouble?
It inhibits quest lines.
Pay attention to the game.
Why would you go and ruin such a fun fight for yourself?
Ghost monk is kicking my arse. I just can't seem to get the timing down on his attacks.
>blackhat badger leaves for Senpou to "take care of some business"
>my retarded ass gets super excited, assume I have discovered fundamental lore drop of who he really is
>"ROBERTTTTTTTTTT".ogg
>find him at Senpou later on
>just visiting a grave, is heading back now
>mfw no face when totally wrong
Reduces unseen aid chance and halts side quest progress on infected characters
>his
Literally just got to him and quit/load because I was not prepared at all. I'm so nervous to go fight him.
nope just a meme one time consumable with flavour text like every other sidequest
Not in the post I replied to. You said "getting money in this game fucking stinks" which implies you have been everywhere since you talked of the game as a whole.
>beat Genichiro
>well that was a difficult, but satisfying victory!
>there's a second phase
That's where I heard that!
It is already the best gimmick fight of all time, not just in FromSoft games. But yes it would have been 1000/10 if it was actually challenging. Should have had a third phase that is insanely hard, where the dragon gets out of the tree and flies around and shit. Sad that it does not.
>drop on them and burn them all to death
>bloodsmoke and give them all a tracheotomy
GOTYAY
Confetti seems to help damage, or you could be slippery and just attack from the side and whittle it to a posture kill like I did
they have super vision. Also why would you try and stealth on 1/2 dead fights? It just replenishes their whole health bar
>where the dragon gets out of the tree and flies around and shit.
Dragon IS the tree.
Why would you have thought Badger is Robert? That doesn't make any sense considering Badger is some kind of Japanese mythology midget creature, and Robert and his father are European adventurers.
Ashina cross is great for draining vitality and shutting don attacks before they begin.
Best place to go after Genichiro? Story seems to be leading me to the Ashina Reservoir place with the PITA ninja, Senpou Temple or the Sunken Depths.
Why is he missing an arm though? Is it like the branch Owl took from the sakura tree or one thing has nothing to do with the other?
Managed to stealthkill/ puppet without sugar. Press alongside the right wall until corner. Next to the torch there, mountain echo whistle. Immediately go back and now press alongside another wall towards the cliff. I even forgot about the sugar, didn't know how effective it is?
Yeah but it could separate itself from it if they wrote it so that he can, don't be a dumbass. It's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit.
No, ichimonji is amazing. It's crazy how easy it is to get off two strikes on bosses.
REMINDER:
If you cheesed enemies by exploiting AI or abusing bugs/mechanics, then you didn't actually beat the game, nor did you "git gud".
The last time a part of it got separated it probably lost an arm! Seems like it would be too painful
What's up with some characters missing their left arm? Wolf, Orangutan, Dragon, Lone Shadow, etc.
>yfw you realize that hell demon is literally old you from a closed time loop finally driven mad by his dragon blood
No I didn’t fucking idiot lmao
Go onto the grapple point tree branch to the left of them. Poke at the sword boy a couple times and he'll go onto the branch and fall off for lulz.
You can cheeze the lance boi with double ichimonjis from the branch.
I feel sorry for the poor anons who fought them the hard way. Managed to down swordboy once myself before I lost it and finally managed to steakthkill instead. O&S are a fucking picnic against the two fuckers in that tight burning arena.
I mean, it seems like the Sculptor is a pretty distinct character with his own story, so I kind of doubt that it is you. But his story does echo Wolf's quite a bit.
The way he moves just looks so autistic.
Casuals are intellectually weak.
If you walk away from a challenge in a video game that says a lot about you as a person and tells me that I can walk all over you and you won't do shit. I will purposely go out of my way to berate you if you're a casual.
I'm so sick of hearing "it's just a game" no, it's a right of passage. This is a pathetic excuse that casuals hold onto instead of strengthening as a person. You are inferior to me in every way.
Yes, you did.
You literally said that.
Can I beat Sword Saint guys? I am almost giving up
I killed the Monk!
The way I did it was pretty safe and lame though, mostly sprinting around with fire crackers waiting for easy hits. Made up for it by getting two jumpkick deathblows on O'nri just after.
How the fuck do I get the surgeon a body
Uhh what? They made it extremely obvious it is the sculptor.
Thanks, fuck Snake Eyes
He's the iosefka of this game, dont bring anyone in
I gave the fat guy the white pinwheel and now he wants me to teleport him away, what do?
talk to the samurai in the spot you start the game
you're the sculptor, they even have the same scars
Senpou is very easy I recommend there.
>no politics
>no waifushit
>no e-celebs
>no bait
>just pure, unfiltered, honest to god video game discussion on Yea Forums
Game deserves an award for this monumental feat.
Use the fan
You have to visit all of them anyway.
Give him a spin with the fan.
Also, you can make any of the monks disappear with it.
>tfw beat Guardian Ape and Owl first try
>can't even make headway on final boss or hate demon
I don't even know where to start with those two. Any tips?
You talk to a character and have the choice to lure them into the dungeon.
>fighting in the poison with the way it slows you
Ballsy.
Ok so I have eavesdropped on:
>sculptor and Emma
>kuro by himself
In that order so far. What else do I need to do to get the Hirata bell?
Uh, sweety, the game has war, which is political.
Bloodborne wins the "oh shit" and "what the fuck" moments. But in Sekiro some of the bosses were amazing to behold, particularly the guardian ape, divine dragon, and isshin himself.
Confront Emma about her keeping secrets
I thought you need mortal blade to kill centipede thing.
How come wolf managed to kill the one in monki without one?
Demon of hatred you need to do some trial and error to find out how to react to each move. Generally you want to stay behind him/by his feet because the projectile attacks are so obnoxious. When he flares up and jumps you need to sprint away and jump then grapple back to him. The one attack chain you really need to look out for is two swipes with the flame arm into a stomp into another swipe since it hits the area right next to his feet--you'll be able to deflect the whole chain eventually. Flame umbrella is also really good in the fight.
Should we tell him?
oh
I never used that shit, huh
Final boss has a bunch of moves that are easy to exploit, most notably his charge-up slash, just run away and you should be able to nail him a few times if you hit him in the back
all his second phase halberd swings are time-delayed, all his sword attacks are mostly immediate
abuse the lightning counter in his third phase
if you've mastered mikiri counter he's no big deal, but you definitely have to pay attention
Fucked up thing is i killed the monkey with the mortal blade
He still showed up for round 2
She ain’t sayin shit. Do I need to eavesdrop on her? And if so where from?
>I could’ve used snap seeds on the monk instead of whacking on it for ~15 minutes to lower its posture regen.
That's not possible, because Isshin literally talks about his past with the sculptor. They knew each other when they were young, and Isshin cut his arm off. The sculptor has lived in that timeline all his life, no time travel.
who /neveruseditemsexceptonheadless/ here
Aw, could have been such a nice TECHNOLOGY moment.
I JUST beat the chained ogre and started the three years ago memory. Is there anything I should look out for?
I had MB for the first round, Wolf doesn't use it until you go for round 2 in that other area.
i just beat guardian ape but now don't know where to go.
i have tried and lost to headless and shichiman player but i'm out of divine confetti. is either of those two guys the way forward or are they optional? i've beaten like 13 minibosses and 5 bosses so far i think
This is a really dumb plot idea you have, especially when there is no element of time travel or anything of the kind.
Sculptor is his own character. Stop being dumb.
What do I do with monkey booze? And sake?
Literally at the start of the game, just play.
prosthetic tools
All Shichimen and headless are optional.
No, I did beat the game bud, and I exploited bugs. Especially stunlocking Lady Butterfly. It felt so good when she finally died
2 very important prosthetics are there. I don't want to spoil them so just look everywhere.
Fully explore the areas because there's like 3 prosthetic weapons scattered around in there
ok but seriously how do you beat Genichiro? Seems like there's no consistent way to block or dodge, I'll always take damage or run out of stance
Yes the axe and the fire punch prosthetics. Everyone seems to miss them for some reason.
It's just a game dude. Chill out
>Feed rice wife serpent fruits
>Ask rice after
>That giggle
Headless are optional, but the blue robed samurai by the Ashina Castle Antechamber have a pretty good chance to drop the confetti. Get the bell demon, pop a possession balloon, and you should get enough after a couple runs.
As far as I can tell it gives you lore. Sculptor will tell you stuff. Monkey juice he talks about training with a friend in monkey land, dragon sake he talks about Emma following him
How many scales does the carp guy need to stop bitching? I already regret killing the big carp.
Have you found the bottomless pit? If so, take a short walk off the cliffside.
I gave the fat monk the white and couldn't give him the other one after. Some time later I managed to spirit him away with a new prosthetic.
And I also ended up sending the samurai to the abandoned dungeon because why not.
Are all of these decisions just for shits and giggles or what?
Also, that fucking manlet wants to use the kite to go somewhere using the kite but no matter what I do I don't get a dialogue choice to tell him to move his ass while I operate the kite.
All the sake are for sharing, they are essentially lore juice
Its a pasta someone made making fun of people like that. I couldn't resist.
Oh okay thanks. I'll go give it to him
Where does that samurai at the reservoir go? I had bad vibes about sending him underground and now he's gone.
puppeteer ninjutsu
>do not ring bell
>*rings bell*
>old lady dares you to jump down a hole
>*jumps down hole*
>everyone who unsheathes this blade dies
>*unsheathes blade and takes the death*
why is sekiro such a chad flopping his big dick everywhere
If you do perfect parries you take less posture damage and no health damage. You can hold block to recover posture faster and you should keep an eye for opportunities to have your posture broken (like when he does the arrow combo, if you just hold block instead of parrying, you take huge posture damage and gets staggered, but he never does a follow up so it is a free posture reset).
where do you think that fatty wax that the guy gives you came from?
He goes down the hole. I'm assuming he continues that path
I didn't send him underground and he gives me some stuff at the end of his story.
Can't remember what
If big boy is dead, one of the pot nobles should already have stopped begging for scales for 'reasons'
Oh fug, I haven't seen that one before. Forget me lol
Are you for fucking real?
>Hey dude I'll do it for you, no prob
Sounds like a very reasonable course of action. But ok, wouldn't be the first time I encounter something like this.
I'd love more shit
Especially weapons. Lock them behind NG+ so the balance doesn't really matter and fill them with crazy gimmicks like
>tanto: Basically no range on regular attacks and low damage, but hitting regular attacks refills spirit emblems
>boat oar: good range, low vit damage but good posture damage, unable to block but expanded parry window, charged attack is a golfswing that ragdolls light enemies and sends them flying
>Longsword: Parry window reduced significantly but attack startup can also deflect for small vit damage through guard if your timing is good enough, basically deflecting using attacks instead of block except if you mistime something just get hit in the face instead of guarding.
I think the game being designed around the katana isn't as big an issue as it seems. As long as the attack out of deflect timing is roughly similar 90% of the combat will still work just fine.
Although I'm fine with the game as it is and I'm glad for once they didn't overreach too far and have to leave a significant chunk of the game unfinished, so it's probably for the best that they focused on the important stuff. Gimmicky bonus content is great but only if the base game holds up. There's always DLC.
so if i didn't send the purple samurai to the abandoned dungeon then i can't complete the surgeon's delivery?
Is it possible to lead the samurai dude to her?
He ends up pretty close to the source of that music. You can go there too but be warned, it’s a long ass way.
The one following the melody? He ends up being possessed by O'rin or something after you kill her. If you kill her before sending him underground, he gets mad you stopped the melody and fights you.
To be honest I'm not entirely sure it is a pasta. I just saw some thread with that as an OP for this game and i copied it. I really hope that guy was joking.
You sent him to live with dead kids
He's now a zombie, you monster
Yes, they give unique rewards, but nothing super special like a new arm tool
You have to come back later when you have better people skills
chick near the entrance tells you fly the kite with puppets if you give her some rice, and the same thing with making the monkey dance at the snake temple
Sculptor, Emma and Lord Isshin will take booze and give you lore. AFAIK it's not required.
Have you beat the folding monkeys? If you're talking about the kite right at the start of the senpou temple, the ability they give you helps out
1. Git gud at parrying. Git gud at mikiri/sweep counters.
2. Learn when you can swing to interrupt him
3. Stay on him. If you back off too far he'll just shoot arrows at you forever and you'll die.
Save games are in %appdata% roaming folder under "Sekiro"
>not r1-ing after a stomp
how did you even get this far? you get a free jumping r1 after every stomp, and i haven't encountered a time where you don't get a free grounded r1 right after that too.
WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE DUNGEON QUESTLINE TELL ME
>don't die since guardian ape in sunkey valley
>get killed by shadowfaggot miniboss in ashina post-invasion, where tengu was
>before this i had already killed like 4 other minibosses
>with 0 real deaths
>wake up in idol with 4 rot essences and unseen aid went straight to 10% from 30%
how the FUCK does this fucking dragon cancer shit system works
I'll do you one better, you can charge up the isshin art in midair
He just shows up there eventually. His questline is just sad as fuck either way though.
My nigga. Thank you.
She wasn't there anymore because I kept going to different places. No wonder I missed that.
I do have the monkey dance one, but I've thrown a bunch of different shit at the monkey and he gives zero fucks. I assume it's some item I don't have yet.
get used to it
In Ashina's Castle near the bridge that leads to the serpent temple there is a pond with two shit fishes. When I locked on I noticed that there is also something underwater, seems like a mini boss because he got a resurrection orb on his health bar. I am thinking hes bugged since I cant make him surface no matter what, any ideas?
Just wait till the dlc when he has to find a way into the underworld, so he offs himself with one of the mortal blades, or hell why not both at once just to double sure
Owl is the one that kills Wolf at Hirata
>too beta to eat infront of my trap gf
>that webm quality
fake deaths still count, but they only get added to the total once you real die
the monkey is also puppeteer, I'll save you the trouble
I still don't know, I'm supposed to get some shit from a village I haven't seen yet. It will probably end up horribly.
Come back later when you can go under
No, the other user means there's another part at a snake temple where you can puppeteer a monkey to distract a snake. Different monkey.
What the fuck dude I used puppeteer and nothing happened. It just stayed there, then I used the hook and the snake fucked me up.
can someone tl;dr ALL the things to do to get the true ending
wow really? This explains the fucking underwater carp in Hirata Estate too then, thanks user!
A mandatory boss later in the game gives you the ability to dive. Wait until then.
wait for him to go up on a ledge and dance, then the snake will visibly shift his attention to him, then you're safe
Is there a way to efficiently kill those twinblading fucks at senpou
They're just simply not fun to deal with, has insane detection range and their placement simply makes stealth impossible, deflecting their attacks doesnt give much posture damage and they always guard attacks
this makes no sense. im at that part too and obviously the monkey had something to do with it. i thought well the monkey must be for a distraction so i slapped the monkey but the snake ignored him and i tried throwing ceramic shards and even using the whistle but the snake gave 0 shits. but if i puppeteer the monkey all of a sudden the snake doesn't ignore all the movement happening? i was about to go give the old lady rice so she could tell me what to do.
I'll try again, maybe I didn't wait long enough.
1. have sex
fucks sake. this is torture
good thing i have only used 1 dragon tear
The combat is so fucking frustrating man fuck
I block, my enemy never lets up and when I try to punish them by interrupting them mid their sword slash it’s like they have super armor and bulldoze through my attack.
I’m used to Ninja Gaiden where blocking successfully can be reward and not having to rely on a party/deflect so much
What's the point of the bell anyway? I'm already getting my ass handed down to me, why would I want more? And what exactly does it do? Literally nothing changes but the enemies have higher stats (health, posture, damage)?
not him but i have a semi related question:
how the fuck does anti air deathblow work? is it supposed to work in combat or only in stealth? it popped up a tutorial for it in the main temple that has 3 of those twinblade dudes outside but it doesn't work on them.
Oh, I thought you meant a different monkey. Why are there so many monkeys in this game?
Snake cavern: Get through it till the end, when the snake is looking at you. Drop down to your left (while facing the snake), and there is a platform with a monkey and a grapple point. Use pupeteer on the monkey, and he'll jump up and distract the snake for a couple seconds. Once the snake moves, grapple up to where the snake was and enter the building.
Don't worry, Drunkard was a wall for me on day 1 but after a good night sleep I beat him in a beautiful fashion, dodging all his attacks easily and keeping the pressure on like I was some kind of a nightmare monster to him. Honestly that's when the game clicked, it also keeps getting better when you get even better at stuff. This game has pretty good hit detection so you can do some pretty cool stuff if you get the hang of it (you can dodge some attacks with whirlwind slash for example)
i did a bunch of shit to stealth kill all of them, never even faced one. stealth sugar does wonders
There is a combat art (not an rb+lb art but a passive) you can buy from the friendly midget at ashina castle that gives you an anti-air move that can 1 hit them. I have never pulled it off on them though so not really.
it just makes them aggro a bit easier, in exchange for massive drop rate increases. imo everyone no matter how good they are should ring the bell.
uhh what the fuck do you do against the Demon of Hatred
It's so hard to follow his attacks because his hair's so dang wavy.
>have prosthetic that turns "beast" enemies against each other
>have a boss with two beast enemies double teaming you
>get prosthetic literally right before this boss fight
>doesn't fucking work on the boss
this shit is giving me conniptions, I'm fine with the double team boss doubling down on the last boss you just fought, typical B-team hackery but what actually makes me mad is that they give me this fucking whistle and I can't even use it in the boss battle the way it is supposedly intended in the game. fucking bullshit.
I feel like the branches were put there for the purpose of deathblowing her during the second phase with the illusions. Dunno about first
read
they're way too fast for that move, i found that move to be useful only for Shichimen
>Get told about the cherry tree
>Go look for it for hours, all over the fucking place
>Find new items along the way
>Get pissed off, go back to check on Kuro and talk with Emma just because
>mfw
Serves me right for being retarded. Should've talked to her immediately.
I fine with the game, 9.5, I just hope the upcoming DLC we all know is coming can make it a 10. My gripes are minor, items were not interesting, flavor text was weak and placement made no sense in a lot of places. Exploration didn't paid off that way, finding a really out of the way place for a fucking pellet instead of a gourd seed, bead, or something particular to the stage, big letdown. If they're gonna do that be better if they hid rare upgrade materials in such places. Skills should have really been learned from scrolls found around the world, at the end of character questlines, or gained from bosses. More than one from each of them too, to encourage replays. But as for dlc, more tools, more moves, skill trees, more questlines, more bosses and great elites. And maybe a few skins.
Thanks O'rin!
Better/more item drop.
I know it's not what you want to hear, but git gud. A perfect block will interrupt most normal enemy combos, and give you a chance to start swinging back. In general, try to swing twice then block/dodge. Actually hurting the enemies doesn't matter as much as getting their posture bar up, since that gives an insta-kill. It takes practice man, it didn't really click for me until I hit Genichiro.
How do you beat shielded enemies?
I got so mad I got on the train just to get away from the game
>lone shadow
>there are two of them
Fug.
true ending, not bad ending, you fucking dick slicing mongoloid
Kill yourself
What boss?
Eavesdrop on everyone
Confront Emma on secretkeeping
Find dead snake liver, and also kill a snake
Give rice loli a lot of fruit, then she will give you special rice for divine femboi
Give that to him, rest, and he gives you a treat, eat it and tell him it was good because you aren't gonna hurt the poor kid's feelings
Tell rice loli, but don't offer to share the treat
Rice loli wants snake livers
Give up the goods, rest twice, then she's happy to talk again
Side note: her rice is now cold
She gives you a frozen tear
Now, go to Sculptor, and eavesdrop on him and Emma talking about you
Immediately go inside the shrine and talk to Emma
She gives you a new bell for the buddha statue
Confront the memory of an abusive parent
Congrats, you got a twig with flowers on it
Now go punch a dragon and make him cry bitch tears, then go kill the final boss
OH SHIT I forgot the most important part, MORE FUCKiNG SPOOKY. I hope one of the dlc is REALLY youkai heavy, let's make use if that fearlessness powder. Wouldn't it be funny if that was just cocaine?
here's my strat. spec into living force, equip firecracker and flame vent.
when he initially aggros, just run right up to him and firecracker to stun, dash to the side while he falls and then hit him in the ass with flame vent. use living force to light your sword on fire and then use that to light him on fire. this sends him into another panic state. if you do it right you get about 15-20 seconds where he's completely vulnerable and you can do a ton of health and posture damage. rinse and repeat.
the second guy only attacks at specific times. after the main one roars he always comes in for the same combo. just throw firecrackers at him before he can start it and then you get a full stagger combo for like 1/3rd of his health. he also comes in to cover up the main boss's openings after a couple of attacks. i think its the jumping sweep and the overhead. he doesn't attack you any other time, except when he first enters the arena.
use Axe prosthetic. You find it right before you face any shield enemies
I want a DLC with a gun arm and christian samurai
please don't tell me the bell demon affects bosses and I wasted 2 hours on this fucker, I forgot I put it on to farm
Where?
you can do the prerequisites for purfication and return ending on same playthrough and then just choose the default, return or purifcation ending after the last boss.
You have to do the eavesdropping shit for purifcation around the owl fight or you miss it and you have to do rice talking to loli and kuro before they move too
Room where *unsheates katana* guy was in.
only makes enemies aggro easier, so its meaningless in boss fights.
This guy really needs to work on his parry
Axe arm is the best way. Otherwise you've gotta try and kite around them to hit their back, or block enough of their hits to posture break them. Ive run out of spirit emblems before and had to fight a couple of them without the axe, not fun.
the sites I checked says it increases combat stats of enemies
wew
The axe prosthetic. You can find it right before them across the street from the chic
ken coup if you know what i'm talking about.
See
>have prosthetic that turns "beast" enemies against each other
>have a boss with two beast enemies double teaming you
>get prosthetic literally right before this boss fight
>doesn't fucking work on the boss
this shit is giving me conniptions, I'm fine with the double team boss doubling down on the last boss you just fought, typical B-team hackery but what actually makes me mad is that they give me this fucking whistle and I can't even use it in the boss battle the way it is supposedly intended in the game. fucking bullshit.
Yeah it definitely increases some enemy stats, test it out yourself. You take insane posture damage with it on
i never noticed a single change when i did comparisons.
I wish we go tot use that move. Ashina cross is fine but the way that fucker dies it is illegal. Where did this trend come from, making the character's moves not as good as the enemies?
Holy shit. Granted I was gonna look for the tree too after getting all information, and Emma shut that down immediately.
First view into the temple, this place specifically.
But you get cooler move after finishing Shura ending.
>mfw I wondered into that mess
what was the point of this boss? Yea Forums kept saying it was a great puzzle boss but i literally just ran around and killed them all. never had to use the big bell or the little bell item once. i don't even know what it means for a monkey to be behind a folding screen.
Sure user, let's argue politics of fictional factions in the Sengoku period of Japan!
What boss do you fight with 2 beast type enemies? Plus, it just makes everyone appear as an enemy, so if you damage them or are near them they'll still attack you.
Can somebody explain to me the game design choice of Mikaru counter? When the red marks appear, most of the time you can counter it, but others, you just can't, and its a one shot
youtube.com
I just cannot, for the life of me work it out. It's near impossible
If i didn't ring the bell here, do the spirit monkeys still show up?
neither did I desu, that's why I had to look it up
You can also jump up in the trees and sit until she comes back and get a deathblow on her
>Paledrake
>Moonlight Greatsword
Bravo FROMsoft
Sculptor is not Wolf. Sculptor even talks about growing up and adopting Emma With a doctor called Dogen and how he got his arm cut off by Isshin because of Shura. Having his left arm missing doesn't mean he's Wolf. They don't even have the same noses.
Red Kanji means danger. Mikiri is only limited to thrust attacks.
Red letter can be sweep, thrust, or grab.
>FEATHER IS BETHER
just cheese the snake using the feather then lie and say you didn't
How the fuck do you get into that building in the hidden forest?
I've already broken the iron code, no unsheates katana for me until NG+
>tried a charged r1 against Owl in neutral
>got mikkiri countered and he did a deathblow on me
Here I thought Owl couldn't be any cooler, gg wp
you were supposed to figure out their weaknesses and use them to beat them. one monkey was half-blind so you would kill it in the dark attic; one monkey had good hearing so you'd ring the bell to confuse it, and one monkey was just really fucking annoying and caused the others to flee. when you beat them they went back into the folding screen or reverse, don't remember
Can you jump deathblow all the bosses?
Are kunai worth getting? Shit is expensive
The worst part was that I remembered some trees in the back of the castle, so I assumed it was one of those. Since it's set in winter I thought, "well yeah it won't be blooming so it won't be easy to tell it apart from other trees", because of that it should be marked in some other obvious way like being a lone big tree or something. When none of the trees in the back worked I kept searching like a fucking retard for literally any suspicious looking tree until I gave up.
>if you kill O'rin, he fights you
Holy shit that's pretty great.
This boss is more kino than any other game I've ever played. Animations, effects, lighting, music, the whole spectacle.
Not every red mark attack is a thrust. You gotta pay attention to their movements. It's a bit of trail and error the first time you fight an enemy since you're not gonna know the tells. But, once you do know them, you can counter, jump, or dodge each red mark attack at the right time and never have to worry about getting hit.
Say that to my face not in pot see what happens
>yfw when you realize dragonrot is only for bad players
You gotta watch the wind up bro. If they're pulling back like they're about to stab, it's probably a stab. If they're holding it out like they're about to swing it at you, it's a swing. If they don't do any of that, it's a grab.
It takes some getting used to, using the same symbol for all three threw me off too. You just need to practice a bit more, and watch the animation.
Has anyone got the purification ending AFTER missing the eavesdrop on Isshin and Emma? I didn't do it and now she's not in the room with Ishhin any more.
turn around, there's a branch near a huggable wall up on the side that lead to another drunkard boss and some monkeys
follow that path and you should be able to get in
Dude I have zero idea what money is used for it how I even upgrade my character in anyway
I’m up to that bull mini boss and I have not a clue what to do. so far I’ve been powering through the game based on just using stealth and skill. The combat feels so janky that I legit sometimes don’t have the motivation to continue on even at times.
Well you just spaghetti'd the boss which is possible but its a lot of fun when you beat it quick while making conscious decisions that make sense.
I have 19 vitality and 0 prayer beads, I think I'm at the end of the game, should I keep looking for more prayer beads?
Her halfhearted attack speed pisses me off, go fast or fuck off.
i guess i thought itd be a little more involved of a puzzle boss. the seeing one literally went into the attic by himself. i didn't even chase him. i rang the big bell once after killing the loud and seeing ones but it didn't seem to do anything. invisible guy literally gives himself away by hitting you.
She does go fast though.
Once she slowly winds up and gets close to you
How sad, honestly the weakest thing about this game.
The double guardian ape boss
You buy stuff from merchants and you upgrade prosthetics with it.
Gotta be more specific dude.
Most mini-bosses can be stealthed for their first health bar, but I can think of a couple that cant. Do you mean the phantom kunai? That upgrade wasn't as good as I hoped it would be, but it does pretty good damage. I kept using the gouging top.
Lol i did the same
but it was quick. i explored the area and read all the notes and opened the door. then i went looking for monkeys and the seeing one was already up in the attic and then i just chased around the other two. loud one was slow as fuck but green one took a bit more chasing.
Different person, he specified in his first post where he was. Do you think it's wise to jump into a conversation without knowing how it even started?
>have trouble with this bitch at the spooky swamp village
>slow attacks and posture fills up near instantly
>finally figure out pattern and learn to deflect her 4 hit combo when realizing one of her attacks comes much faster than the rest to throw you off
>I have to fight her again later in the game, with THREE health bars
i ragequit before but i went back and not only did i feel the game click a bit more, i went and one shot 2 bosses in a row, the horse guy and then the bull. feelsgood but now i found this area with like 9000 rooftops with birdmen and it's heaps complicated to explore so i'm bound to miss something good..
Not sure if this is considered cheesing but I’m a shitter too and I killed him by sprinting around him , baiting his attacks and doing the stab attack when he was recovering.
Just ran around poking him.
>go fast
Phase 3.
There are 40 prayer beads, for a total of 10 necklaces. AFAIK 2 of them are locked behind Hirata 2, so if you didn't do that bit then you're SOL.
How the fuck do I take down sword saint Isshin. It's bad enough making me do Genjiro 3 black anime tree, but then another 3 phases of boss to go through.
There are merchants in the game that unique items and consummables for sale, the first two were near the chained ogre and there is another one where you fight the horse fucker. You upgrade your prosthetic with the barrel you get from the horse boss at the temple and it costs money and materials to do so
The building with the Shimasen player, there's some stuff on the roof but there's no grapple points close enough to it.
>Chained Ogre
>Juzou
>Butterfly
>Flaming Bull
Who's the real pleb filter?
Yeah. Glad I didn't waste time but still a little disappointed.
>The combat feels so janky
???
It's very fluid
Prepare for kino at top of castle.
>Most mini-bosses can be stealthed
I know, but I meant the technique where you can deathblow an airborne enemy
I dispelled the mist before taking on that drunkard, is he gone for good?
This is one of the few times where instead of counting the bosses that I had trouble with, I'm counting the ones that didn't rape my face. Mini bosses too. Currently I'm getting ape'd.
I think they both count as mini-bosses, so idk if that'd work. I know that the main boss there doesn't count as a beast.
I just used the firecrackers to get the 2nd ones posture low enough that two or three hits got him.
If you jump and kick off their shield, they almost always get pissed and do a charge which you can easily dodge around and then stab them in the back. Hold backwards as you kick off them so you land far away.
No.
I would say O'rin actually is. Hardest boss i've fought so far and i've beaten all of those and the guardian ape.
>general enemies
Ogre
>Bosses
Butterfly or Gyobu
You're not a samurai
I used confetti on casters, pellets in fights where I was close to victory but out of gourds, and I used the moneyballs for farm. Other than that I didn't use any of the items.
Has anyone yet figured out what to do with snake hearts?
>keep getting baited by her backwards sweep
How does Genshiro even summon his grandpa? Why is he younger too? What's the lore here?
>Butterfly
This is the only one on this list I've yet to beat so I'm gonna say her. Though Juuzou took me a lot of tries until an user gave me strats for it.
Gyobu's super easy though. Grapple to his face and smack his horse. press L1 every once in a while.
Most people don't even make it to the Bull before quitting or getting tilted about the game, so its either juzou or Ogre
Retard.
Bring them to the rice loli
Butterfly. Overcoming her is when players seem to feel the game opening up and getting into the game's rhythm.
You can get 2 deathblows early: when she spawns in and when she uses her phantoms in the 2nd phase. Use the branches. Some call that cheese, but they don't know the difference between honor and victory
Give to rejuvinating child after talking to her in the halls of illusion for dragon's return ending.
HOW DO I BEAT GENICHIRO
So is this Miyazaki's masterpiece?
Just found realized Mibu's villagers give a reasonable amount of experience for how easy they are to kill. With the cleave spear I was getting about 2k experience every 90 seconds or so by running this route back and forth.
On top of it you get a bit of money if you sell the drops. Came back with about 30 fat wax and 80 ash clumps and ceramics.
Oh. I'm gonna be honest, i've only gotten one of those by accident against one of the magic demons with all the floating skulls. Don't know how, don't know why, but god damn it it killed him so i'm not complaining.
old man died
dumb idiot shitface has the black mortal blade, which can open a door to the underworld
he decides to bring old man back in his prime so he can be strong and keep Ashina from going down in flames from the ministry dickbags
which one? when you encounter him at the top of ashina castle when saving kuro?
aggression is his weakness. apply r1s liberally. apparently lighting reversing him does big damage, but i wouldn't know because i failed those yet still beat him first try just by mostly r1ing.
Go right of the castle gate, and then go up up up.
R1 spam until he deflects you then L1 spam
It's honestly so insignificant you shouldn't worry about how it works, you'll never actually kill anyone and the game is generous with tears.
Which is odd 'cause the game really starts to groove after Gyoubu, IMO. Even more so after Genichiro.
Either let me use the mortal blade as normal or up my goddamn confetti counter. I need my sword to shine with POWER
There's some lore in the room where Grandpa was that says the second mortal blade can open a gate to the underworld or something. Grandpa died, so he's coming out of Genichiro's wound because it's a portal to hell, only less metal
And despite this only 60% of all PC players have beat him, and this is compounding how a lot of PC shitters are using trainers to plow through the game. Gyobu is 48% on PS4 and Butterfly is 32% on PS4 as well (no cheats)
Without spoiling as much as possible, which is the best ending and how do I achieve it?
I’m helping Kuro sever the ties of immortality right now and basically playing fetch, while rice loli does nothing but give me rice every now and then.
Believe in yourself.
Have you killed 2ape? You get the ninjutsu that turns you into lady maria.
Guys please tell me theres a way to get the purification ending/second hirata memory if i didn't eavesdrop on isshin and emma
Can terror kill you outright? Like 100% of your health in one go?
aw shit need to try this now
The Black Mortal Blade gives life/has contact with the underworld. He cut himself with it and his wish was to see Ashina restored, so his Grandfather spewed out from his death wound.
>and this is compounding how a lot of PC shitters are using trainers to plow through the game
Why would anyone do this
Nah, I'm on Owl now.
pirate here, I beat the game and dropped NG+ out of relative boredom
paypigs self-select for being bad at video games
That is actually what it does if you let it build up. Think of it like cursed only worse.
That's what it does.
>learning to deflect her
spamming L1 works with her, there's nothing to learn.
keep using her rice. visit her after every time you do something. try and get her to ask questions about kuro. she'll disappear and you have to find her. Basically follow here questline.
Fucking got me lol
Mad because they're bad, obviously. I play on PC and didn't need a trainer because i'm not a complete shitter.
If it build up to the max it’s instant death.
There isn't. If you haven't backed up a save file before the Owl fight, it's NG+ time.
Stay close so he doesnt use his bow, L1 counter everything and try to get a hit in after his combo, before the first deathblow he will always thrust after the jumping downward sword think, after the first deathblow he will sweep or thrust so pay attention, if he starts running and a red kanji comes its a grab, in phase 2 dont bother trying to steal the lightning because it never works, instead just jump away and then dash in for a few hits, other than that phase 2 is similar to phase 1.
If the terror bar is filled, you die. End of story. Like the fucking lizards in dark souls 1 who turned you into a statue if you stood in their gas.
>can go underwater
>no system of caves that leads to new area
>nothing behind the waterfall
its still early in the game's life, especially for casual console players. wait until a month to get a better idea
yea, but it lasts like 15 seconds
it's a waste of emblems that could be better used for puppet or your tools
0/10 shit game, for exactly that reason.
My first soulsborne game i've committed to, and I really love it. Just beat Genichiro with my heart pounding out my chest. I really love how gameplay is more reactive with parries than just dodge and poke
I'm trying to feed the rice loli the snake hearts but no prompt is showing up letting me do so? Dunno what to do here.
Return >> Purification >>>> Shura >>>>>>>>> Immortal Severanve
>theres a loot waterfall in mibu village
>except the loot is right in front of the waterfall instead of behind it and its glowing to make it obvious
what's in that little pond in the dead end icy area near the serpent shrine?
I started NG+ before exploring it
two of my 'alternative' normie friends pick this game up. I have never even seen them play videogames other than mobile games, or even talk about dark souls or metal gear or whatever. My point is they are console gamers and that's probably the reason why ps4 players don perform as well, because a lot of people just buy videogames for their alternative clout or because they saw grimes tweet about it every fucking hour
Ayy my nigga. I was trash at dark souls and kinda just stopped bothering. Sekiros conbat feels so much better and I so much prefer parrying than tolling away then poking a couple times
An underwater tunnel leading to a headless, if you're talking about the one behind the first sunken valley statue, past a small cemetary
just keep eating her rice and getting more
eventually, she leaves her room, and when you find her she talks about another plan to deal with immortality
There's no reason to fight headless. Their reward is shit and eats resources and isn't even stronger than the sugars.
I assumed as much
they really dropped the ball with secret areas imo
Everybody say you have to eavesdrop on Isshin and Emma, but I didn't do that and got purification. Just ran around eavesdropping on Kuro and Isshin and it eventually fired anyway
The fact that you can't just summon people and cheese boss fights also makes it more satisfying. I'm ashamed to say that i've never beaten a souls game solo, but the combat in Sekiro is a lot more fun so i'm trying to make this the first.
Yikes is the severance that bad
What do you mean the owl fight? I thought the eavesdrop happens AFTER the owl fight
Kind of sad that this time From didn't think of some visual effects to terror. In DS you literally get petrified, in Bloodborne blood comes out of your body in spear form when you get frenzied, but there's just nothing, you die like you normally do.
Do they not reward prayer beads?
also you may or may not need a book you find under the water in the first pond area after you fight bridge knight.
nah it's fine
you just kill the kid like he asks
She will not give me any more rice after the first one, which i fed to an old lady. Do i have to do anything different?
Nope. They only drop spirit emblem versions of the Buddhist Sugars and you can't even sell them.
The headless in fountainhead are guarding a prayer bead, but they don't drop it. is right, there's no real reason to fight them other than "they're there".
As in do i have to kill bosses to get more?
rest at a shrine and come back, depending on how far you are she'll give you more
It's just the most boring and straight forward ending. It's not bad, but it's bland.
Dude, if you're going to grind for exp, just farm the ministry gunners at the Outskirts in the endgame. This early game farming is pathetic.
i feel bad when i see someone suffer because of my casul ass
What's the iron code?
Obey your dad?
It's like linking the fire. It's not bad, but it's boring.
you can get all prosthetic upgrades in one playthrough, right? i was under the impression that you'd be forced to specialize in skills and prosthetics but skill points are infinite and so are upgrade materials except for a few unique ones but it doesn't seem like you ever have to choose to use the unique material for a certain upgrade. no two upgrades share the same unique material.
It's basically just a code of conduct for Shinobi, the first rule being that the Shinobi's mentor must be obeyed at all times if given orders.
>>nothing behind the waterfall
Dropped.
Yes. Whichever ones you don't find from simply exploring you will get through main boss encounters.
You can't get all of the lapis upgrades in one run.
You can get them all, but I don't think you can upgrade them all in one go. Unless there's a way of farming the one endgame upgrade item you need, but I haven't seen it drop from anything.
Naruhodo.
What is the first thing I need for the Kunai upgrade for the shurikens?
I must have missed it because I'm like 80% of the way through the game and have 3x as much of everything else as I need
It's Owl's way of saying "I know you pledged to obey the Divine Heir and give your life for his etc, but you should obey me instead".
is lapiz the only material you can't get enough of? so you can get all but three or two upgrades?
You buy it from the merchant in Ashina Outskirts. He's close to the idol that is closest to the gate where you fight the Ogre.
so what changes in NG+
I'm at the Demon of Hatred and I feel like I'm closing in on the end
Phantom Kunai, can be found from the merchant near where you first fought the red-eye ogre for 3000 sen.
I've gotten a total of 6, and haven't seen it drop from anyone. You need 10 for all upgrades.
Yeah, everything else is farmable or a drop unique to that upgrade.
I don't think eavesdropping on Isshin and Emma actually unlocks anything, it's just for extra dialogue.
What you need to listen in on is Kuro saying to himself "do what must be done" or something like that. Which happens right after you get him second or third incense ingredient.
As you're leaving the room just after you turned it in, hide behind the wall and listen. I think he always spawns at the library when you bring him a new ingredient. If he isn't maybe teleport around until he's int he library.
After you listened in on him, the next time you're in the castle Emma will be upstairs, and if you talk to her she will offer you a way to save Kuro. From there the quest line is less obscure.
They drop from Fountainhead palace inhabitants, but very, VERY rarely, something similar to farming vertebra shackles from skeletons in DS3. It's better to just go to NG+ and get lapiz there
Have a kick-ass sword fight: R1 L1 R1R1 L1 (L1?) R1R1 L1. If you retreat to heal then keep your guard up for the arrows until you're close enough to get that sweet clanging racket going again.
Lightning form is the same but faster since he doesn't block so much (hint: if lightning then jump aside--if hit mid air then R1 on landing to become a certified electrician)
You get access to all of your prosthetic tools from the start, and I think some enemy drops are slightly increased. I've heard Demon drops 3 lapis lazuli instead of 2 on NG+, but I haven't confirmed it yet.
Other than that - nothing as far as I'm aware.
I get the game was trying to go for something emotional here but it just fell flat.
