ZOMBIES GONNA FREAK
Walking Dead normie series
>"Zombies never existed in any type of media in the Walking Dead universe, that why they call them walkers and not zombies"
>DUUUDE THAT'S SO DEEP
I think in 2002 with 28 days later calling them infected but it might have even started in the 90s
For a while i liked it like that
The word zombie just sounded so goofy
But now people try so hard to avoid using that word, that they invent words even goofier.
Remember when going out of your way to not use the word 'zombie' was something people made fun of
They've been called "the infected" for atleast like 20 years or something
Is ANYONE looking forward to this game?
>Freakers
Is that bearded James Franco
When your monsters are so unoriginal that you need to retcon their existence in your own canon
Because zombies are for kids and not for mature gamers such as ourselves.
>The final boss is a Mommer.
It's literally just so people wouldn't know how to deal with them immediately you autistic mongoloid.
Id buy that for a dollar
To what end though? Just seeing Zombie movies doesn't make you a survival expert, especially since it's a movie therefore full of bullshit.
It's more autistic to make a point of it since nobody would really be thinking of that in the first place.
The being known as the zombie refers to a creature of a more mystical/religious background, remember original dawn of the dead the zombies appeared because "hell was too full." A lot of these shows/games/movies probably want to shy away from including religious aspects to their media so instead of a zombie they just use diseased humans which they call infected because it's what they literally are, as opposed to a zombie.
Not saying it's a good idea but it's the only rationale I can muster tbqh
Thoughts?

I might be mistaken, but I think when people do that as a creative choice they're sort of paying homage to George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" (the movie that fucking started it all)
In that movie, they never referred to them as zombies. I remember some character called them "ghouls" and probably other names.
>remember original dawn of the dead the zombies appeared because "hell was too full."
I thought it was implied to be the result of radiation from a space probe or something.
um excuse me but is that a gruff white male?
NAh Zombie has been synonymous with shambling undead regardless of origin since atleast the 60s.
I think it's just a matter of either trying to make it their own or thinking it's unimmersive because calling them such makes them sound like the horror movie monsters they are.
Dude ZEDS
What other games have a mechanic similar to the bike?
>Can only save when you have the bike
>Can take damage from anything, even landing incorrectly
>Needs to be repaired and kept fueled
>Can't fast travel to the bike
>Bike automatically come to you like the Batmobile or horse
>Can store a finite amount of items, as well as currency
>Enemies can strip you bike for parts and steal your stuff
>Bike DOESN'T automatically come to you
When you need to make it seem more serious and prestigious than a game where you shoot zombies.
Games that generally aren't so serious, or at least willing to embrace their more campy lighthearted or ironic nature at times, will call their zombie enemies "zombies," like Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil.
>zombies
Why do people eat this shit up so much?
It's usually to avoid the issue of the people in-universe being familiar with the pop culture reputation of them, since unless you're specifically going for something self-aware that could cause awkwardness for your writing.
"DON'T SAY THAT WORD"
I love Shaun of the Dead
it unironically depends on when you were born. zombies were all the rage from like 2005-2013 or so. before that, it was vampires (90's). before vampires, it was werewolves and aliens.
Nowadays I think paranormal shit is big thing
I think it started with The Walking Dead. That trend is retarded. Just call them zombies.
This
They know they're doing the zombie idea for the 500 millionth time, just let them do their thing if it makes them feel like they aren't beating a dead horse
There's a recurring comment at post-mortem interviews with developers, discussing robots as enemies. It doesn't elicit as much satisfaction as humans or an organic creature, that wiring and metal flying apart doesn't look as good as blood and viscera.
So a zombie fulfills that criteria, it's already kind of falling apart and it only needs its brain to live, so a damage system lets you really tear one apart limb by limb.
It's not a thinking human, all it needs it basic information to maneuver around an area, around obstacles, to get at its target. It doesn't need to have sophisticated attack patterns, it either swarms en masse, or is something like Resident Evil where even one is pretty hardy and needs some investment of limited resources or luck to take down.
It's like the gory horror equivalent to a musou or Serious Sam game.
Zombie are slow.
Zombies are such an unoriginal and overused concept that the only way normalfags can stand them anymore is to call them something else.
Post the Chris Redfield webm
I personally liked the term walkers, but freakers is fucking stupid.
