I don't why Griffith's getting so much screen time. Every time he appears, the story just jerks him off with how great he is. Miura hammered in that point years ago. The only reason I can think of that he's still getting a fuckton of chapters is that Miura has no idea what to do with Guts at this point.

The thing was that Griffith clearly stated that he did not respect people who did not have their own dreams and only followed other people with dreams, basically shitting on all his companions who follow his dream. Of course, he probably didnt mean Guts in this case since it was clear Guts was just hanging out with his buddies since its the only life he knew, but still it probably led to Guts leaving because I think maybe he thought that was what Griffith wanted, that he should find his own dream, or perhaps that he felt Griffith disrespected him.

I just don't see a proper game ever being made out of it. Musou's can replicate Guts hacking through a thousand random people, and Fromsoft is good at referencing Berserk in terms of design and oppressive tone, but they simply don't have the same level of individual character focus or slow atmospheric build-up.

The closest we got is probably that original story in that old forgotten Dreamcast game.

Xillia 2. Actual story spoilers, so don't read if you ever want to play it. Victor is actually Ludger, the player character, from a fractured dimension (alternate timeline). But when he reached the end of his journey, he was denied entry into Canaan where he could fix all the problems he's come across because he wasn't in the "prime dimension". Everyone he's killed, his loved one gone, all for nothing. So he sends his daughter across dimensions to try to get some way into Canaan. It gets worse when you realize that Victor also must've been sent a daughter by another Victor from another fractured dimension. Ludger already suffers a great deal but at least gets a "happy" ending by having access to Canaan. Imagine how crushing it is for the countless Victors that have to go through this shit, hoping it ends with them.
