So I'm about to play this. What am I in for? What class should I pick?

>What am I in for? What class should I pick?
They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong.
Not OP, but picked it up as well recently. What's the best pawn skill/focus? Do they actually matter? When can I change pawn/arisen appearance?
Play warrior, best class to start as and the combat is fun as fuck when you get to start climbing up enemies and cutting their eyes out. Your pawn's class really doesn't matter but you can't hybrid class them so keep that in mind, I went dual warrior for my first run and it was pretty good although getting spells by luck of the draw can be tedious. Appearance can be changed at the hairdressers in gran soren which you will get to fairly soon if you follow the main quest.
Literally anything except warrior. Heavily underpowered compared to all the rest.
Just remember that a weakling in numbers is a weakling still
I would suggest strider so you have decent ranged and close quarter offensive capabilities. You can always change once you reach the main city anyway.
Whatever looks fun, you can change class over and over later.
if on PC I suggest downloading the mod that changes either magic archer or mystic knight stat growths and then playing one of them, they're pretty fun and unique but without mods you're slightly gimping yourself if you play as them without spending time playing other vocations first
in the grand scheme of things the growth stuff is pretty debated, and you won't be like completely fucked anyway since gear is the biggest factor in your damage but you'll definitely feel a bit weaker before endgame when you have crazy strong weapons
This mod is mandatory:

overrated garbage
It's up to you. However, you should be aware that your stats (health, stamina, physical and magic attack/defense) increase by an amount depending on your class. You don't need to minmax, though. Most of your stats come from the gear you're wearing. You can change classes when you get to Gran Soren or start Bitterblack Isle. Augmentations you learn from other classes can be used on your current one. Basically, you're encouraged to try a variety of classes. Strider is a good start, but it's up to you. Just pick what sounds fun.
Are you talking about the inclinations? Absolutely do NOT try to have nexus, guardian, or medicant as a primary or secondary. Aim for scather, challenger, utilitarian, or mitigator. Those are the better ones. You can change them with a potion from the encampment, though they cost rift crystals, which you can find as loot, or primarily from your pawn being rented. You can also swap their secondary inclination with their tertiary and vice vera by sitting in a chair at inns. You change your appearance in Gran Soren or can change even more by purchasing an item for rift crystals from the same dude who sells the inclination potions (Jonathan near rift stone at encampment). If you meant combat skills, it's up to you. Your pawn can't be a hybrid class and doesn't do well with the warrior's slower skills, though.
Unfortunately I'm on PS4.
>changing class
yeah if you're a fucking retard, you can do that and permanently gimp your character
Warrior is most fun. I also wholly recommend using the same inclination for both yourself and your pawn if possible.
Don't go mage for Arisen, it's mostly for support.
God I hope the Switch port sells well, just to sway over the the higher ups into a sequel
Not really an issue since the game is more about weapon stats.
>What am I in for?
You'll either fucking hate it and drop it after 20 minutes or love the shit out of it.
>What class should I pick?
Whatever appeals to you the most, really. They're pretty self-explanatory.
It’s really not at all, the only issue is the limitation on number of active skills.
No you cannot.
Your stat increases account for a very small amount of your action damage beyond level 30 or so, most of it is your weapons.
You can level as a sorcerer, and be fine switching to warrior ffs.
That only matters if you’re autistic. Only 1-10 really matters, you can roll the rest however you want. It’s not a competitive game.
What level should you be to fight ogres? Trying to do the ogre quest after Gran Soren and tis hard
it only accounts for a minute or two of time at the extreme high end of the spectrum in gameplay. If you wanted to kill a dragon in one spell attack instead of 2, then yes it really matters, but obviously that is kind of a retarded thing to worry about. Same with melee and even faster and less important overall, assuming you aren't stopping at level 40 or something.
you can actually do the quests at any level but obviously your gear will matter quite a bit.
If you stab the ogre in the eye as much as possible it should help. IF a low level caster good luck lol.
Is that the one where you go into the pit? I think I just legged it as the ogre ran off with one of my pawns, I also remember knocking him off the edge and riding him to the ground.
Try to get them to fall from ledges
>tfw you never unlocked the secret armory at Windbluff Tower
Anything good inside?
the greatest 7/10 you will ever play in your life
Why a 7?
I think there was a good set orf armor there? iirc
everything else but the gameplay is half-baked
but the gameplay is 10/10
throw 3 skulls
throw oil
inflict sleep
throwblast or dragon spit to the face
Hey Arisens,
My name is Daimon, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are base, trifling, slaves to a broken order who spend every second of their day completing stupid ass quests. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any pawnssy? I mean, I guess it's fun killing random stuff because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than doing radial quests on Skyrim.
Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I played 190 lvls as a Sorcerer, and started as a Mage. What builds do you play, other than "jack off to shameless princesses"? I also have every other Vocation maxed, and have a banging hot pawnfu (She just told me wolves hunt in packs; Shit was SO cash). You are all faggots who should just godsbane yourselves. Thanks for listening.
Pic Related: It's me and my waifu
Don't try to min/max, you'll drive yourself crazy and not have any fun
based and aughtpilled
Do I need NMM for this? Can I just drag and drop into the games folder, same with that one that let's you use any weapon regardless of class?
Everything except combat is bad or mediocre, game itself is funny.
But the beginning sucks- people liked it because they got through the initial bullshit.
Everyone likes the game because the end game and the expansion content.
A full set of Meloirean Armor you can get early and something else I dont remember
Don’t listen to this guy - be any class that looks cool. Warrior is actually one of the worst classes in the game but in a first playthrough it can work
Yellow vocations are the only ones worth playing.
>start climbing up enemies and cutting their eyes out.
As a warrior? That guy who hits with hilt of his sword while climbing and has lower climbing damage than fighter or strider? Yeah, right.
Yes, drag and drop. Fuck NMM.
purely out of curiousity, what's the framerate on the switch version?
I want to bully Daimon!
I've put over 200 hours into DDDA and still haven't touched a yellow vocation. What vocation should my pawn run for a low-level BBI adventure?
If you are playing on PC and worried about the stat distribution you can install the balanced stat for all classes mod.
I recommend strider into assassin or ranger. Having the option to use both melee and ranged when you are getting to know the game is a huge advantage.
>worst
Wrong, warrior reaches his potential earlier than other characters. Arc of Deliverance destroys time and space, and if you farm enough in DLC, you can get Arc of Deliverance.
Try out all of the classes, since they all have passives which work with other classes and a lot of them are useful.
I didn't know Savan's backstory was on Youtube. The narrator is ass, but it's still pretty interesting:

The early gameplay is also pretty cool:

Is there a mod that let's Fighter and Warrior use Dire Gouge?
Probably a mage that can buff you with holy
So is Warrior bad or not?...
No. Extremely high damage output with small actual input.
He can work but other classes kill shit way way faster and with less risk skills. Plus he is very gimped by having just 3 skills
Still, outside Sorcs High Maelstrom he is the king of stagger
Doesn't really matter as long as you're yellow. I can't imagine running through BBI without being able to double jump to all the extra balconies and shit.
>tfw want to play again because killing big monsters in DD is actually fun because of the combat, instead of that clunky shit from MHW
>tfw have more than 1500 hours already in DD and burned out
fuck
His stat growths are meh, and 3 skills leaves you with less flexibility. Personally I swapped off him at around level 40 for Mystic Knight. This game isn't one that expects you to use just one class anyway. If you want to faceroll faggots, go MKnight or MArcher (For BBI), if you just wanna have fun, do whatever.
>tfw still waiting on the switch release
Suffering
Have you given DDO a go?
Well fucking played, user.
Why’d you guys have to post about DD? Know I’m craving another play through
i can't read moon runes
ACTUAL SPOILERS
Do you guys think we finish the cycle by the end of Dragon's Dogma? You kill yourself without choosing another Seneschal, after all.
What's weird is that, on NG+, if you're online you fight another character from a random player in the fight against the Seneschal but, if you're offline, you fight your own character from the previous cycle.
I've heard that the UI is almost entirely translated, so it's mostly just the story portions that are still in moon.
Just for roleplaying factor, Warrior isn't bad. Just doesn't have as much potential. Mage/Sorc only has one "weapon" but gets 6 skills. Not Warrior, but you think regular damage output would be increased to make up for it right? Nope. I mean, you can probably mod in much better stat increases as a Warrior, but it's just not worth it.
I'm craving another one
but everytime I do it, it is either pure sorcerer with holy affinity+periapt spam or pure ranger with tenfold+explosive arrows+periapt spam
and I enjoy it everytime regardless but I have tried and done every single class before
Let me just post this shit before all those faggots who think minmaxing is necessary show up. HERE IS A FUCKING VIDEO WHERE THE GUY LEVELED HIS CHARACTER TO HAVE THE WORST POSSIBLE MAGIC AND WRECKS SHIT AS SORCERER, GO FUCK YOURSELVES
youtube.com
>but everytime I do it, it is either pure sorcerer with holy affinity+periapt spam or pure ranger with tenfold+explosive arrows+periapt spam
I know that feel. It's too fun to watch enemies' health drop to nothing in no time.
I think your world gets fucked, not others or the cycle itself or maybe you are trap in the cycles of guilt now
One of my favorite things about Dogma was the pawns learning new things. I like to think how they grew from the experience and saw and felt things they never did before.
What about leveling up as Warrior and Ranger for more health and stamina?
heart should of been a benis
If you're playing Dark Arisen you're not going to hear the original title screen song. Here you go.
>no "post your arisen and pawn"
Cmon Yea Forums do your part
Don't pick a class. Try them all
THE ARCHER MAGE IS THE FUNNEST CLASS, DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT!
While playing recently I kept imagining one of these self-learning AIs being used by the pawn system on a DD2.
PREASE CAPCOM.
The worst thing about Magic Archer is that it makes all other classes boring in comparison
Why am I so bad at this game?
haha dragon
My current slutty Sorceress. Arisen is a generic Sorcerer with an Adept's Hat. Trying to think up a good style for a Strider pawn next.
God this was so good
Damn BBI gear just covers everything.
It's been awhile since I played.
From my experience mele classes are the most fun to play as but magic archer is the most op class
Also rangers have best stamina growth if you don't do any modding. Makes it so you don't have to walk as often when getting around before you get portcrystals.
DDO's gameplay looks a bit different than DDDA's. The physics seem different at least and in general looks like a downgrade. Also if 10 people can't jump on and cling to an ox all at once then I'm not interested.
I just killed the Chimera in the tutorial. This feels really Monster Huntery to me will it be like this the whole game? Also is there any way to reliably dodge?
nigga just enjoy the game
and go into the well in cassardis first chance you get
You can dodgeroll as strider/ranger/assassin. Otherwise you jump or block. And no it's not huge bosses all the time. Goblins hate fire!
magick archer is generally the most OP, but I still think a strider is better.
I think it's good that my GPU died when it did, because my autism was getting way too severe in this game.
When does Magick Archer kick in? Level 4 with it and just got Ricochet, don't feel that strong yet.
post the pasta
Your weapons matter a whole lot more than levels/stats. Also I think certain MA attacks have inherent elements attached so make sure what you're using will actually hurt an enemy. I recommend carrying a staff for enchantments instead of daggers if you don't pick up a support pawn with good enemy knowledge.
bitterblack isle.
Ricochet Hunter(the upgrade) pierces enemies and bounces off walls with semi-homing capabilities. BBI is pretty much all narrow corridors, so it just rips everything apart because it was definitely not balanced to hit the same enemy 25 times.
Explosive Volley trivializes most undead enemies, and Ninefold Bolt is just disgusting.
Until then magick archer just feels kinda slow to me. I prefer playing other classes.
Beamdog is guilty of a number of crimes.
Recently restarted, made a couple of shortstack goblins. Having some fun, think I'm gonna go for Assassin this time, rolled MA my last character. Plus I let enough time go by so my pawn was rented when I restarted, so I got back all the knowledge stars from my old save.
Ignore min max posters, do not reply to min max posters.
Game is easy and the only place that is remotely difficult is Bitterblack Isle a post game place that is meant to be challenging.
Strider lets you experience all the good unique systems in Dragon's Dogma to the best like targeting parts or climbing up enemies
Warrior is the easiest to play as and lets you experience SOME of the unique systems.
Sorceror starts rough but becomes broken as fuck later, but is unfortunately the least fun to play as.
You'll end up freely switching class all over in the late game anyway so it doesn't really matter ultimately, but strider is the best if you want to really experience the game from the beginning.
Who uses NMM lmao
Same here.
I travel alot so I don't have much of a choice.
Everything in pre-BB bows to warrior aside from ghosts, the Ur-Dragon, and iron golems on occasion.
In BB, the warrior has a bit of a rough time until you get decent gear, but the only real roadblock is the Living Armor, for which you'll probably want a sorcerer pawn.
The skills are limited, but the only two which are absolutely necessary are Arc and Exodus Slash (slash has i-frames, and has a followup attack with good stagger if you keep pressing the button--it took me a long time to discover this). Third skill can be whatever you fancy.
If I'm doing Magick Archer, should I spend a shitload of time as other classes first for any skills or stat boosts?
>stat boosts
unnecessary. You'll be looking at a 20% damage increase at lvl 200 at best, and you'll probably have shit stamina(from playing sorcerer to max magick) to compensate.
>skills
if you call augments skills, then yeah, you should play with other vocations to get augments. They can be used in any class and are often hefty utility/stat boosts.
Awesome thanks
>pad stops working
Fucking why
Why this game
Quests are timed, so don't put anything off,
