>literally the biggest thing to come out of it was IRON MAN VR

they tried to copy nintendo

No Ape Escape 4

Fuck Snoy
and fuck global standards

Everyone expected something when they should have expected nothing

based

Literally fucking everything.

Ironman VR.

People really want an Ironman game, people really don't want a shitty gimmicky vr ironman game

too much vr shovelware, no info on medievil.

more like state of gay

nintendofags care more about this shit than sonybros.

Yea Forums hyped it up massively for no reason, and most people didn't even read the announcement to figure out this wasn't a one off mega stream to replace e3.

You're right, it's fun to laugh at

Attached: 1550786981298.png (445x471, 219K)

The biggest complaint for all their last few non-direct shows have been a lack of game announcements, and then this had like almost no game announcements.
You know what makes people happy? Lots of fucking game announcements, all different genres.

PSVR community lost their minds. Good for them, even though VR doesn't resonant with me personally.

>Lots of fucking game announcements, all different genres.
Sony wants even fewer games with bigger budgets. You're never going to get that ever again from them while cinematic shit keeps selling gangbusters. Just about all of their AA games are VR now.

Why did they think this was a good idea? We were already used to having the PSX in December to see new games and dev updates on upcoming titles. And it was good. Why do that junk decaffeinated forgettable compilation at all?

THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF PLAY

Attached: DC0D26C2-CF4C-4D68-B58F-D6C20B26D894.jpg (919x1024, 90K)

Hoping to cash in on the Nintendo Direct hype train without realizing why people get hyped for them.

I own a PSVR and I think it was complete garbage. The only title that I got slightly interested for is everybody's golf. I would have preferred a port of an older game to VR than the tens of shitty shovelware coded by 3 amateur devs that are not worth the price they ask.

Everything

That's what I'm saying though. People buy consoles for games, and used to buy PS specifically for anime tiddies. In the past few years Sony's managed to do the complete opposite of what everyone wants.

you just know the one around E3 time will be a colossal disappointment as well

Sony have already revealed their hand for the remainder of this gen
TLOU2, Death Stranding and Tsushima is all big projects they have left
and I'm not convinced Death Stranding will be this gen, or even if it is, it will get a "director's cut" on PS5 so why even bother?

I'm holding on to my PS4 pretty much only for Ys IX

VR IS BORING BECAUSE I DON'T OWN A VR HEADSET

I get that they are copying nintendo directs, but directs fucking blow ass. 90% of the time the entire thing is such a massive waste of time.

Attached: pressf.jpg (800x450, 199K)

>April Fools is happening soon
>I'll have to deal with fake sequels and fake leaks for an entire day
Bah humbag.

It's boring even if you own a VR headset. It's a concept that still needs at least another decade in development before it stops being a glorified tech demo.

To them probably nothing. It was just a prototype run of a new format they clearly copied from Nintendo to broadcast upcoming media.

To what they deserve though, it was more or less a waste of time with scheduling half of the twenty minutes towards garbage VR titles not too many people will like or spend a considerable amount of money on for.

Not a good first episode for them to kick things off with and not a good precedent for future State of Play streams if they actually expect people to watch willingly if they have nothing to show.

Attached: 2i8ahpu.jpg (1692x1079, 230K)

At this point in the PlayStation lifecycle I expect awesome fucking games, some of the the VR stuff they showed looked decent, but it wasn't the weeb shit I was looking for

Same problem as All-Stars. They don't have shit. Why the fuck they decided to do this without making sure they had stuff queued up to get excitement is baffling. Blow your load on the first couple and have fuck all for the next presentation, fine, it's understandable. But having nothing for the first? Just don't do a fucking show. Who's going to give a shit about the next one (if there is one) when this is what they start with?

VR is picking up steadily. We're getting really good games like Moss, Astrobot, Tetris Effect, Beat Saber, etc.

>weeb shit
>modern Sony
Even if they have a lot of announcements in the next State of Play, I doubt any of them will be Japanese.

>people actually thought this was going to be Sony's replacement for E3

Attached: 1528566889626.jpg (480x368, 13K)

I can see why they canceled their E3 presser this year, what a joke.

Riftfags and Labidos seething again cause they got no games

People don't want an iron man game

People put expectations on Sony that they don't put elsewhere for some reason. Then they are disappointed because their headcaon fantasy didn't materialized in reality.
That show was inoffensive but nothing to be mad about. I'm more concerned about stuff they actually promised like name changes which aren't coming

Say what you will, this is the best possible way to do the character justice rather than just another empty, over world, slog with Arkham combat.

Well, let's take a look.

>VR
>Crash DLC
>VR DLC
>Furry Diablo
>VRand Theft Auto
>VRiro Party
>VRco The Dolphin
>VR NintenBirds
>VRick and Morty
>VR Golf. It's exactly what it sounds like.
>Dungeons and VRagons.
>National Lampoon's VRacation
>That one game you get for free with Playstation Plus but never play.
>Five Nights and VReddy's
>Laika Presents: A Tim Schafer Production: Disney's Pixar's "Draw" starring Playstation VR from the VR May Cry series
>Another zombie movie where the true monster is man.
>The death of western fighting games

What a great presentation

They should’ve labeled that shit
State of play: VR

They didn't set clear expectations so everyone was expecting this to be Sony's E3. Telling people they were announcing a few small VR titles ahead of time would have helped immensely.

I'm not convinced TLOU2 is this gen either.

So you agree that the issue was with people expectations and not the show in itself

Sauce?

Fnaf VR.

100%.

Your expectations would have to be below nothing with how poor that showing was. There was no need for it at all and no one would've realistically expect it to be that bad given the context around it. Everything there should've been saved and slotted into five minutes alongside a different stream with just one notable inclusion of something as innocuous as a remaster of a PS3 title or DLC for some popular title.

So imsomniac should have made a shitty vr game where you use move controllers to shoot webs during on rails action segments with tacked on spidey senses hud elements instead of the best selling first party sony game since singstar?

Have you played it? Could be good enough to more VR units.

It hurts even more when you realize Insomniac has experience in VR, and would've been a perfect synergy between the two.

No Gravity Rush

Attached: 1531490753784.jpg (1775x2500, 399K)

wait
so by that definition, does sonyfags care more about nintendo issues?

nothing went wrong
people screeching about Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima are absurd to think they would be there, when the show was about upcoming games coming out soon
90% of the games had an April or May release date
the are supporting their VR hardware, and the two biggest releases next month are Days Gone and Mortal Kombat 11
they already said expect more State of Play throughout the year

Attached: 6373556456.jpg (673x1024, 123K)

too much VR

it was ok otherwise, too many autismos expecting massive reveals

Another one...

Attached: 3dp_fakenintendo_2_3dp-e1459246863347.jpg (1200x675, 99K)

Sony failed to say it was a small presentation with mostly VR titles and small shit.
Even Nintendo says "this direct will be mostly about indie games" to calm down people.
Retards get hyped up too easily these days, specially with Sony where they're starved for hype.

With that said, Night Trap in Space looks fun

Attached: 1553017812804.jpg (470x470, 25K)

Learn to set expectations. There's a reason Nintendo clearly labels their directs for Indies and specific games

it wasn't even a show, literally just a bunch of trailers played one after the other and then done. no presenters, no talk, no nothing.

This is not a DS5 controller.

and that's a good thing

Days Gone is the only thing that looks remotely good.

>I'm more concerned about stuff they actually promised like name changes which aren't coming
It's funny how since they announced this, they've cancelled Experience, their fan event, and has since decided to not show up at E3.
My new headcanon is Sony is literally running away from making good on this promise by never showing up again.

How could they not have a trailer for big games other than Days Gone? Nintendo makes sure to add at least 1 big teaser at the end even if it's a year away. They could have at least shown Dreams

You are everything that's wrong with this board. Concrete Genie will be the better game.

They tried & failed to copy the Nintendo Direct formula and having 90% of the content in the PlayStation Direct focus on VR shit didn't helped.
>>I'll have to deal with fake sequels and fake leaks for an entire day
>Implying that Yea Forums doesn't get fake & gay leaks on a daily basis
Also, didn't Let's Go Pokemon got leaked on April Fools last year?

The most exciting thing about Days Gone releasing soon is that maybe they'll start talking about other games.

>No God of War expansion
>No Dreams release date, despite it being the biggest VR capable game to date
>No Sly Cooper trailer. His show is dropping this year, and still no indication of a game
>No Kojima update on Death Stranding, not even a 'Herro'
Fuck this gay world. They dropped the ball like no other. Cancelled all their big shows only to come out in the first time since the E3 debacle to this

They couldn't at least show one interesting new game. It was just VR after VR and the whole direct felt like a forced advertisement.

Microsoft unironically has the format down better. People get excited for people like Phil and Major Nelson. They bother to give small developer updates that really does feel comfy.

>No God of War expansion
already confirmed that SIE San Diego doesn't want to do major dlc and is already planning their next game
why would you complain about that?
wouldn't you rather have a full sequel sooner than some dlc

Attached: connor.jpg (1600x1452, 150K)

it's all advertising
E3, gamescom, directs, every conference and presentation is an ad
don't be dumb

>SIE Santa Monica

Sony invested a lot of money on the VR meme and now they have to sell it. The only thing that sells is the PS4 so they will force that shit in the PS5. Also they're sabotaging the AA Japanese industry censoring their games and assuming their movies can carry the PS5.
Sony is basically giving away the next gen to Microsoft all they have to do is a normal console and there you go.

>God of War expansion

OH MY FUCKING SHIT THEY COULD HAVE GIVEN DLC OR SOMETHING NEW JESUS CHRIST I HAVEN'T REALIZED THIS UNTIL NOW AND IT MAKES ME MAD. FUCK THIS COMPANY. SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL IN THIS GAME I SWEAR TO FUCK.

Attached: 1524619646698.jpg (1023x540, 245K)

Here's what went wrong:
-Massive assumption that PS4 players have games to play right now. In a normal generation, a company would focus on giving and making new games for their system. Also, I am talking as a idort, I enjoyed Spiderman. I enjoyed GoW. I'm sorry, but I am not interested in Dayz Gone. Please make actual exciting games Sony. PLEASE.
-The assumption that they can move on to selling another device while still on the PS4. Its called a console generation because it used to be about the one console for a generation, around 5 or more years. Then in just one generation, they went to selling an upgraded version (Xbox is guilty here too), and now VR as well. Should have saved VR to START a new console generation with, not interrupt one.
-State of Play is just a terrible name in general.
-Abandoning E3 was a huge mistake. Sure, people can say all they want that this wasn't their E3, that there will be another one much better. But I don't care. This was their first impression for this new project. Five new ones that end up great and amazing will never erase how bad this was. It just won't. This conference is what "state of play" will always be remembered for. Until of course newfags show up months later acting like this never happened.
-Their fucking censorship policies have actually made a developer quit their platform. No I don't care what games they made, that's a ENTIRE franchise, which had fans, snuffed out by Sony. You can complain all you want about what the games being censored are, but Sony has official drawn their line in the sand, a much bigger line then other companies have ever drawn. Sony is willing to LOSE MONEY to keep censoring games. Let that sink in, a corporation, who's priority should be making profit, is willing to lose profit for the sake of protecting their ideologies. If it keeps getting worse, it likely won't last.
-I don't want Sony to fail, but they need a failure to bring them back to reality.

why waste shit on dlc when they can put it in the sequel?
you really think Kratos going to Valhalla is something they can casually do in dlc that the majority of people would never play?
no God of War game had dlc, why expect that now?

Attached: 1545396473667.jpg (1200x1200, 177K)

Sony doesn't need Japan. All it needs is to sell fifa and cinematic third person action games to europeans and they'll keep winning

One of those take too much time and money to invest in.

Horizon got DLC. What say you? Cory did have plans for DLC at one point, but was too ambitious and ultimately was scrapped. Still, they needed something unexpected and big to save the show.

>Sony doesn't need Japan.
But they do.

Attached: 636956-top-us-gaming-platforms-by-state.jpg (810x780, 177K)

>Horizon got DLC
irrelevant to what God of War does

Even Nintendo tries to temper expectations ahead of time. Remember what was it, E3 2016 when they said there would be 'No NX news'? That was smart of them, and even ahead of directs now they will say "This is only 20 minutes, will only feature [this game]".

Sony PlayStation Experience was cancelled in 2018 because "not much to show". The year's prior E3 (2018) said they would be only showing off.. 5 games was it? Hell, they even cancelled this year's E3 for reasons they still haven't specified.
All they literally had to do was say "Showcase VR and a few smaller titles coming to PS4+PSVR"
Instead I feel like they know how their fanbase likes to blow stuff up and let them, which has lead to this dumb fucking State of Play.

>2000 people out of 300000000

This. Sad day when Nintendo of all people handle content delivery better than Sony.

Not having a strong opening or closing

Who cares about those
