absolute demn garbage

Better than 3

did civvie get you woke on this game too

Did Giant Bomb make a game?

I just watched his video and it looks pretty fun desu. People shit on it but it looks like fun to me. I dropped 3

the entire serious sam series is fucking garbage
redpill yourself
youtube.com/watch?v=3QntpXBjCYQ

looks like Serious Sam II to me

Give me the basic gestalt of that 40 minutes video

2 isnt that bad

No level design + next to no resource (ammo) management + endless enemies

A fun game that however overstays its welcome tenfold.

I noticed that, but it's the only Serious Sam game I ever played, I assumed that was to be expected?
Like, Diablo is about clicking on enemies mindlessly, and Serious Sam is about just shooting enemies mindlessly?.

I always thought "this is not up my alley" rather than "this game is flawed".

Is there more to other Serious Sam games than just a sequence of horde-mode slaughters?

thats a weird criticism. surely youd just stop playing if you had enough? or is that a criticism of too little value for money?
diablo at least has the loot autism going for it. serious sam has nothing. note that id still rather play serious sam than diablo but thats because fps is my favourite genre, objectively id have to say diablo is much better

You'll probably be disappointed if you play it. I played it back when it came out and it was so long and tedious and the humor was so jarring. Civvie sure didn't lie about the length, it feels like a 40 hour campaign.. At least you can respect SS2, Croteam put a lot of effort into making a big sequel to a relatively niche game. That's more than you can say about BFE.

If anything, it's too long. The levels are shorter compared to Sam 1 and 3 but there's so many that you can burn yourself out unless you just play the game in short bursts.

Is an underrated mess with a messier development story just like the rest of Serious Sam titles. A cheesy bollywood action B movie of a videogame, ironically the best way to play Serious Sam 2 is not taking it seriously at any moment.
The reason why is so cartoony is because a deal they had with 2K games when they were their publisher, as they demanded that their next games must be accesible for lower ages unlike the first titles, and they had to make a sequel of the original plot somehow with that criteria. Since now they are partnered with Devolver a remake is being made but we will not hear anything about it until Serious Sam 4 releases.

As for the chronology of the series by canon it follows this order:
Serious Sam 4 (being developed atm, takes place around the first invasions of Mental's horde to Earth) > Serious Sam 3 > Serious Sam The First Encounter > Serious Sam The Second Encounter > Serious Sam 2.
The rest of titles are spinoffs

If that's the message you took from cv11's video you should really check your english comprehension, they are great games with some flaws but not by any mean terrible. What civvie didn't mentioned is that Serious Sam 3 was the way it was because it suffered a development hell that made HL2 one look like a joke. At first Croteam was contacted by other company to develop a modern military game, that later was ditched. After that, pic related happenned. Croteam was contacted by Id to develop Doom 4 with them long before nu-Doom 2016 was a thing

Attached: nEUCnmP.jpg (1357x3061, 637K)

SS2 is downright weird. And it's not nearly as fun as 1 because it feels so strangely paced into actual missions and little worlds.

If SS1 is about an 8-9/10, this is like a 4-7/10

the message i took from cv11s video is that the games are fucking garbage

>look at all these things it copied from an infinitely better game!
Is this image supposed to make Serious Sam look better or what?

Rata literally just refrenced this in his newest video

>SS:TSE>SS:BFE>SS:TFE>SS2
Fight me.

Attached: 1539821458897.gif (500x715, 518K)

Who are all these youtube faggots you're talking about

cont.

The Croteam Doom 4 also got ditched after some time because coordination problems, due the fact that they lived literally in the other side of the world and obvious language barriers.
After two failed outsourced projects, they had a mapset themed in the middle east, scrapped enemies directly inspired by Doom, so to not lose more time they decided to mix everything to the blender and released a continuation of the series in a try to not lose more money. Serious Sam 3 shouldn't have seen the light of day because is a Frankenstein monster of three diferent games blended in one, that's why it was such an ackward amalgamation of middle east modern warfare shooter, doom and serious sam.

You just keep confirming that you are either an ESL or just lack of basic english comprehension. it doesn't make it look cooler, it narrates why there exists enemies straight from doom, because initially it was a doom game. Serious Sam 3 is a failed game that should have started from scratch. Is a rushed collab of assets.

There never was bad SS game, if you don't count all those third party spin offs, obviously.

I honestly love ss2, so much enemy variety, fun af massive boss fights, fun to use weapons that feel impactful, tons of variety for the environments too

You're close
TSE > Second half of BFE > TFE > TNE > First half of BFE > SS2

Zoomers, man. They, instead of playing a game, prefer to watch a forty (40) minute youtube video about it, then parrot the opinions as if they were facts.

>fun af massive boss fights
AHEM
FUCK SAM STONE AND DIAMOND STONES

Attached: Count_Kleerofski.png (1030x951, 428K)

Pic unrelated because that game was fucking great.

except the video youre talking about is lukewarm on serious sam whereas i know for a fact that the games are fucking garbage because ive played some of them

Fun
But with some of the worst "humour" I've ever seen in a game. Oh, and some of the bosses were fucking awful, like that one with the ballistas

desu i kinda liked the somewhat almost realistic tone of SS3, it seemed an almost ironic "take that" at brown and bloom shooters

I liked it because Serious Sam 1 was about everything but Sam being taken seriously.
All of the dust and enemies blending into environments was awful, though.

I bought the game just to play with Serious Saturdays. It was a gruesome evening.

This. God 3 is a fucking mess. Even if 2 is shit its playable compared to 3.
No I played it years ago, but I did see his new video in my feed.
Huh.

Shit I haven't played a saturday evening with the Serious Saturday bros in years (like around 4). I gotta get back into it.

The perfect proof for a game that "too much" can ruin a game. Like civvie said in this video that some really great idea, but there is just so much cutscenes, levels and ennemies. In FE they was only ten type of ennemy but they all had an impact on you. Serious 3 is the opposite, the gameplay go back from their roots but it lack variety. Second encounter is still game.

Probably the most "fun" SS game can get annoying fast though. It like playing a fever dream has lots of variety and actual level design but cohesion is lacking.

I hope planet badass doesn't turn into a boring repetitive mess.

Is Serious Sam fusion the one to use now?

I am 32, pal.

Play TSE HD. It lets you play TFE levels in it if you own both games.
Fusion has some weird issues, but has better mod support.

That is the most probable outcome of it.
Croteam kinda got burned with the reception of 2, so instead of doing their thing like they always did, they play catch up with fads.
They are nearly a decade late for the open world meme.

>Hey Civvie did you know that Mueller's report completely clears Trump?

Literally who

i think youre brain damaged

Nigger, cancer mouse is about putting politics into shit where it doesn't belong.

I don’t know who this guy is and I don’t want to shit on him since his video style seems alright. But I genuinely can’t take SS criticism from someone who can’t play at the level required for Serious difficulty, especially if they are critiquing the game based on Normal. These games live and die by their encounter design and you’re only going to see it’s genius on Serious difficulty when you’re weapon switching like mad, dodging tons of projectiles, prioritizing enemy types and playing a wild 3D version of contra. This shit just isn’t for everyone.

i like civvie and love serious sam but indeed, playing any of those games on normal is a fucking disgrace
the best character

Attached: mouse_rex.jpg (400x225, 27K)

Except it's never SJW liberal talking points dude

Hi civvie - the only good videos you made were on Blood 2

At least he correctly brought up the game being more like Smash TV than Doom.

It’s not open world.

Nigger if you fucking link to some e-celeb's 40 minute video instead of posting your own thoughts then you have no right to insult anyone.
Fucking frogposters are above you in terms of contributions to the board.

What makes the serious difficulty so drastically different from normal?

Reloading encounters over and over again like some poorly designed first person danmaku is not what I call fun.

Nothing, it's a thing that SS fans have brought up since the dawn of time to justify not listening to criticism.

Attached: 1551556665829.gif (360x207, 745K)

Also to any of the civvcucks still drinking the koolaid:

In that American Mcgee game review video, he says making fun of minorities is trite and edgy, while making fun of the American military is good

Fuck I hate leftists pieces of shit.

Just more crap to wade into.

More enemies.

Completely different enemy compositions in encounters, enemy numbers and ammo management plus basic stuff like damage values. Lower difficulties the game really doesn’t ask much from you and it’s only at its most intense does the game actually feel cerebral and show it’s depth. It’s very much like a classic arcade game and at lower difficulties it’s just mindless. It’s a huge misconception I see whenever I see SS get discussed here. I can’t really blame people because I genuinely think croteam designed all these games around Serious and just added the other difficulties with minimal effort because they knew it’d be too much for people.

The pop up bullshit is annoying, it’s vastly tuned downed by TSE

Attached: yike.jpg (736x414, 35K)

> Lower difficulties the game really doesn’t ask much from you and it’s only at its most intense does the game actually feel cerebral and show it’s depth

This is the myth you faggots have been perpetrating for decades now. Literally all serious does is make you have to be slightly more cognizant about holding down S+A/D. Just because you die quicker does not mean that the game is more cerebral.

A satire of 2000's where the ridiculousness of today start manifesting, you retarded dumbass.
Satirization, mongoloid. Do you even get the concept?

Double ammo capacity and pickup rate along with increased enemy count, more damaging attacks and more ambushes when picking items, also enemy types in hordes get more diverse, especially on later levels.

Play the game Civvie

Attached: bait.jpg (480x360, 34K)

I honestly never get the hate 2 gets. I liked the arcadey approach and the over the top cartoony style fits the craziness of the series.

Attached: 1547592502592.jpg (695x687, 52K)

You are only reinforcing my opinion.

Civvie 11 is a character, a man who is being unjustly detained in a secret government facility. I know you right-wing nuts are too autistic to differentiate between reality and fiction but not everything he says should be taken seriously.

Actually the change in damage values is huge. On the lower difficulties you can tank a lot of stuff so prioritizing enemies isn’t nearly as important. Serious difficulty a single direct kamikaze can kill you unless you’re heavily armored, so a group of kamikazes will drastically change how you’ll approach a gun fight. Kiting a bunch of bulls by sound queue while clearing kamikazes from all directions is something you just don’t have to worry about on low difficulties. It’s these interactions that come from mixing the games enemy types that makes the game enjoyable and Serious mode is definitely the most thought out in terms of its encounters. You’ll also have to manage your ammo more on Serious, dedicating specific weapons and ammo types to certain enemies. It’s very important to manage your supply and choose the right weapon depending on the mix of enemies you’re fighting. These games just don’t play well on low difficulty and are relentlessly hard on Serious. There’s no myth. You’ve just been saying things to SS fans for a decade while they told you why the game has value.

>Serious difficulty a single direct kamikaze can kill you unless you’re heavily armored

That's the problem though isn't it? Unless hitscan enemies are involved any classic FPS generally gives you the choice of how you approach things. In SS there's a very hard limit to how things go

hitscan>homing>splash(if close)
>charging>splash(if far)>projectile

If you don't follow this EXACTLY in every fight you die. And all the while doing the exact same braindead circle strafing that you do in every single fight, why? Well in any classic fps game minor differences between monsters of the same class can typically be made more drastic by adding things like basic fucking level geometry to the mix, forcing you to change plans on the fly. Instead we get giant empty boxes and a snail's mild jog speed.

This dude right here with four walls around both of you has literally has more going on than the entire monster roster in the SS franchise. Because at a thousand meters away, a walker a kleer, and a harpy may as well be the same thing.

Attached: Ogre.png (467x615, 42K)

Because everything about 2 sucks, the weapons are fucking boring toys guns, I got stuck in most of the levels, some events didn't trigger forcing me to restart the whole part, characters are fucking ugly, game is unnecessary long, boss fights are horrible, vehicle sections are fucking stupid. I had more fun and less problems playing BFE boring and generic world, than the first level of 2.

Attached: 1544424428559.png (363x327, 262K)

Why is a general rule of enemy prioritization a bad thing? I’d never criticize contra or metal slug because it’s optimal to play a certain way. This is the core of an engaging game, developing and executing a strategy. It’s not like there isn’t room for deviation either, weapons like the SBC and grenade launcher can be used in a variety of situations. Hell, there are even knife only runs. You can’t make an argument of rigidity when there can be so much disparity between two players arsenal and how they use it. Certain weapons will definitely be more appropriate, but players can choose how they want to approach an engagement and make it up with skill.

You’re also making gross simplifications of enemy type diversity too. Kleers get to you faster than either of those two enemies, yet have the least threatening projectile of the three. You can dodge the bolos and focus harpies if you want to eliminate an overhead swarm that may prove difficult to focus when the kleers reach you, or you could prioritize the walkers since their lasers can be very disruptive when trying to herd kleers. The situation you’ve come up with where everything is far away sounds like something Normal mode does. Serious would have a few bulls and kamikazes on your ass or a few reptilian fireballs to balance alongside the charging enemies.

How do I git gud enough for Serious difficulty? Like a fucking guide or something on how to handle that many enemies

Dodge projectiles.
If you want to be a little girl, become acquainted with the F6 key.

Just keep practicing and map your weapons to hot keys that are easily accessible. The games actually really intuitive to learn if you have some patience.

Make sure you're playing at a good sensitivity so you can aim appropriately. Make sure your sens isn't higher than your character doing a full 360 when you move your mouse from left to right on your mousepad, assuming you're a 12 inch wide pad.
Bind your weapon keys to be around your wasd so you can access them easier.
Be careful and listen for enemy sounds as your walking around. Kleers are really loud.
Everything else is something you have to learn.
Don't play TFE on serious your first time because its retarded and balanced around finding secret weapons early.

I'm watching the vid everyone's shilling itt
Dude's wrong about 70% of the time. Shit opinions and he sounds like a stupid asshole.

>Don't play TFE on serious your first time because its retarded and balanced around finding secret weapons early.
This is sound advice. I played through TFE on hard first before later going back for serious. Just to become acquainted with the game's mechanics. It was still gave me a challenge, arguably more of one than later playthroughs because I didn't have double ammo.

sam 2 is alright, not as consistent as the others but it has a lot of variety and is probably the best for co-op
obviously e-celeb opinion is correct because he made a youtube video and of course the longer it is the more correct the opinion is
sam is a pleb filter

yeah, it filters out those who have never played a real fps before by getting them stuck on serious sam until they give up on fps

Sam isn't as fun co-op because there's no shared lives pool.

SS2 has awful artstyle but at least it doesn't play like garbage like SS3 with all its modern military shooter mixing and terrible design choices

I really hope its not like 3. The footage shows reloading so I already feel dread.
The most positive thing I can say is that the footage is apparently super early and can change a lot before release.
I agree. I also fucking hate 3 but its got some really good music to.

>regurgitating pleb opinions

Serious Sam 2 was my favorite
The others just felt like kill rooms

Attached: 1550392663511.png (293x364, 59K)

underrated

the story is even more retarded but it has the best gameplay of the 3

>what is coin-op

Its fun and underrated. The last few levels with enemies shit up the whole map with bulls and AAAAAHHs and me going full Rambo is great and that last level music. Especially in VR

Reminder that serious sam is a fucking shit franchise, educate yourselves and get better taste.

Someone already posted that, and he doesn't even hate the game. You've neither read the thread or watched the video.

>expecting the average vtard to do more than 12 seconds of research

seething

A shitfuck lot better than boring-ass 3 was.

croat here so a bit biased but all of the main serious sam games, except for 3, are pretty great and comfy. the only good spinoff is DD and the best of the best is ss2
having said that civvie is right in that it's pretty much just huge arenas with a shitton of enemies and that's fine with me

SS2 probably would've been better if Croteam didin't have to abide by the OG Xbox's hardware limitations and it was a PC exclusive. I'm sure that's probably the reason why the levels fell like they were a bunch of bigger maps broken up into shorter ones.
In fact if I remember correctly, they couldn't even get the final boss working in the Xbox port because it was so damn big. They just send you straight to the ending FMV.

>old games only getting threads here due to some random youtuber making a video about them or some character getting a Smash rep
the absolute state of zoomers

>the only good spinoff is DD
Bogus Detour is the best spinoff though

A seriously fun game and that's fun with a capital S.

Right you are. If it wasn't for 2's slightly wonky engine it'd be right up there with Second Encounter. 3, on the other hand is seriously a disappointment and a half.

Zovi samo zovi

>the only good spinoff is DD
Bogus Detour actually takes that title. It has some pretty damn great mods too.

it's alright, it just made me want to play smash tv tho

Attached: 1550889508703.gif (532x560, 2.43M)

This wtf, this board is filled with actual zoomers, 22 yo here and back in the day I played the shit out of this game in net cafes, it's soooo fun for coop idc what any one says

Replaying it singleplayer now yeah it feels meh actually most guns have no impact, I prefer doom

>too many enemies
maybe some of you pussies aren't serious enough for this franchise I suggest a game more to your liking, try Far Cry 3, games journalists once proclaimed "it's Skryim with Guns!"

You would have been 12 when net cafes were fucking dead outside of shithole countries.

I'm from a shithole country so, alive all the way till 2010 ish here

>missing the best music
youtube.com/watch?v=aHjVNFI9mTw

PLEB = FILTERED
maybe but I think the only limitations are the size of some of the levels

Something Sam 2 doesn't have.

New enemy placement, which is a common thing in this kind of FPS like Doom. When replaying TFE on Serious I noticed a trap in the earlier levels that flooded in more of those toad-like enemies in a tight room. In Doom 2, the crusher level has a Spider Mastermind inside it on Ultra-Violence but not on lower difficulties, etc.

are you telling me people play SERIOUS SAM on non serious difficulties instead of just abusing quick saves? Stupid cowards

It's honestly my favorite of the series. I liked the saturday morning cartoon vibe.

I like the enemies of Serious Sam but I dont like how level design is barren and just another arena after arena. Same deal with Painkiller even when they try to mix it up with the cards and shit

Attached: 1551816524745.png (629x446, 21K)

Actual level design would hurt the encounters. Sam's enemies aren't nearly as dangerous in smaller numbers.

>that one cutscene that is just a Sam ragdoll falling down a shaft full of metal beams for 5 minutes.

Fun.

Attached: tumblr_pek8x3Lnzu1sce1rh_540.jpg (369x519, 36K)

IIRC 3 was made when every other game is gritty and brown.

Those were dark times.

Sprint lends itself well to Serious Sam's gameplay. So you don't waste as much time walking back from a battle.

wrong, reloading is a non issue
also sprint is good
actually BFE with fusion tweaks is the best sam game

>>ADS that affects accuracy
>wrong
Its not by a big bunch, but neither weapons you can ADS are 100% accurate by default, and they become so when you ADS. Unless Fusion changed this, that was how it was in vanilla BFE for the pistol and rifle.

>DOOM GOOD
>SERIOUS SAM BAD

From your ranking SS2 seems to be objectively superior because it doesn't have retarded bloated name.

Attached: f86.jpg (1064x1306, 597K)

Is there a list of all the changes Fusion made to BFE? The official patch notes are vague.

>i-it's not by m-m-much
yeah not at all
both are good unless you are talking about Doom 4 which is a bad game

SS4 when? I'm worried it's not going to be as good as the others because the big environments and optional objectives might take away from the nonstop action, but I'm still exited.

Last time I played all enemies got new attacks and encounters got new enemy compositions, but that was over a year ago.

They changed some weapons, giving everything larger magazines and allowing spritning and reloading at the same time. They made the shotgun more accurate too. They could have done something to hipfire, but I can't find any details on it.

I don't think there is any full patch note but there is a lots of weapon and enemy balance that I can see.

I tried playing the last level and it felt much harder
certain enemies have new attacks like rocketeers randomly shooting homing shots. They also removed the infinite ammo crates and I had some ammo issues for the first part of the level.

technically he shat on half of doom 1 and keep saying how fucking bullshit blood is. yeah he is in the character of someone who play these games by force but old fps have some very questionable levels.
