What western game are you talking about?

How much does this series use to sell?

otaku stuff was never popular and it was always an industry made by passion not for profits
You dont have a case OP

Atelier has been selling like shit for years now and besides the unexpected bump at the start of the seventh gen was on a decline since the PS2 era.

It's a kusoge series these days where every game is low effort, souless shit that's optimized like crap and essentially a vehicle for cosmetic dlc to try make the profit margin sustainable.

Atelier effectively died with Shallie. Escha + Logy gets a pass for the mechanics issues because the writing was still fun but the end of the dusk trilogy shit the bed on both fronts and every game since has been awful.

Move on and just hope more of the good ones get steam or modern console ports before Gust folds like it deserves to.

Literally everything. Even SJW games sell more than this lmao

>moeshit simulator reskin n37585
>passion
Look at him and laugh.

>Sekiro
>western

LOL

Poor normalfag cant see the beauty of Moe.

It sold 3 million on steam. From are honorary aryans

Atelier isn't even moe these days though. The recent artists are trash.

Fake news. It sold 40k total from both PS4 and Switch, which is an average opening for any Atelier game.

Again, what? none of those games are western except Minecraft.

Moe is normie as fuck lad, literally the most normie genre other than shonenshit

Hasn't Gust always been a pretty niche developer to begin with? Don't get me wrong, I wish they'd mix it up with their titles a bit like they did back on the ps2, but I don't think these are disastrous numbers.

Yea Forums is fucking retarded and considers anything that isn't the number one best seller a flop

>Koei Tecmo
gee i wonder why..

Attached: 1538370994431.jpg (480x640, 12K)

i dont understand why people give arland a free pass when 2/3 games were absolute garbage. dusk is infinitely better than arland in every category.

inb4 muh comfy waifus.

I don't remember Atelier ever being particularly popular, you're grasping at straws.

some comparisons
[PS3] Atelier Ayesha: Alchemist of the Ground of Dusk (Gust, 06/28/12) – 75,874 (New)
[PS3] Atelier Escha & Logy: The Alchemist of Dusk Sky (Gust, 06/27/13) – 57,550 (New) (67,842 if you include the next week since it released at the end of the week)
[PS3] Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea (Gust, 07/17/14) – 43,744 (New)
[PS4] Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book (Gust, 11/19/15) – 30,759 (New) + 25,805 vita + 11,542 ps3

[PS4] Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings (Gust, 12/21/17) – 21,129 (New) (vita and switch each sold less than 15k, not on media create list)

At least the new game is back to Mel Kishida.

Moeshit has sold like shit on consoles for like the past decade
Gacha has a huge monopoly on moeshit now

Attached: 1534565327707.jpg (750x587, 104K)

noco>kishida

All Western games are fucking garbage. That said, atelier is shit cause it has shit girls.

who let Mongo out of his cage!?

>meanwhile western games sells truckloads
Literally two western games on this list. Second one being The Division.

TWO (2) western games.

Untrue, there are just as many good western games as japanese ones.

>>Moeshit sells millio-
Literally no human being ever said this.
Moeshit sells like trash.
And the fact that it keeps being made regardless is a testament to how it's made with actual passion from developers, whereas 90% of bestsellers are factory line garbage.

Attached: 1379606517534.gif (758x696, 102K)

Pretty much this. Despite the games being crap most of the times and sells like shit, they keep producing them because they obviously want to make games.
On the other hand, you have Call of Duty and shit that sells way over millions, having good graphics, but are produced not as a passion for the crafting of the game, but rather for the money of people who swallows the same game each and every time.
Same goes for those who buy moe games. Although, sometimes they can be pretty good.

I'm pretty sure it's more the fact that they don't cost a ton to make and they sell consistently. sure they don't sell millions, but they're guaranteed to sell enough that they won't have to worry about shutting down anytime soon

Well, that is true. But I don't think they earn all that much for them. Just enough to keep making a similar styled game.
But we've reached a point in gaming were consistency are valued higher than being flexible in what you make. One has the money to make something amazing, but keeps making the same shit.
The other earns enough money to make a similar, either shitty or good game.
Probably why Nintendo games are regarded as good games. Mario, Zelda and such don't change too much with each game, but it is the fact that nintendo has several different IP's which allows them to succeed despite not being as advanced in at least the graphics department as say Final Fantasy or the bigger western developers (except for the wii U).

It's time.

Attached: gatchagotcha.jpg (1100x818, 221K)

Atelier sales has been shit for few years, and the numbers keep going down for each games.
This series probably will be no more in the next couple of years.

Literally any game in the US. Check VGcharts

F

Attached: moogydono.jpg (595x343, 71K)

are these games worth playing, and where should i start?

B-BUT Yea Forums TOLD ME THAT GET WOKE GO BROKE
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING WEEBROS?
ITS NOT FUCKING FAIR

>Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon that high
The fuck? How did this enjoyable shovelware actually sell? Does this mean we'll get a second?

>40k opening week
That's pretty decent for Gust really.

Do you like cute girls and autistically min maxing items?
Then start with Rorona+, Iris and MK are more like traditional jrpgs.

but user this is already the fourth chocobo's mystery dungeon game

Mana Khemia is worth it. For the rest of atelier just pick whichever looks the cutest to you.

I thought moe/Vita-genre games always sold like shit due to it's niche audience

This is why the atelier games are garbage among other things.

Attached: 1553660094357.jpg (960x544, 116K)

That's what you get when you sell out to faggots.

The PS2 one's, there the only good ones

>go casual
>go broke
S

>shitch that low
Fucking nice. shitch don't deserves Atelier games.

Huh, so it is. I never knew.
Does this mean we'll get a new non-port one, hopefully?

Someone explain why you love mana khemia so much. I don't care if you hate the later atelier games, how does mana khemia compare to other jrpg series?

Male protagonist, faggotry kept to a minimum.

Koei Tecmo has been releasing flop after flop. If it wasn't for Nintendo and Square Enix outsourcing work to them they'd be in serious trouble

Goddammit Super Robot Wars is never gonna reclaim it's former glory...

Good, that series was shit from the start.

>faggotry kept to a minimum.
>big stupid furry girl with big weapon
nah, that's faggot shit

Atelier games sell low week 1 but have decent tails.

Attached: 1531237547467.png (859x709, 1013K)

Fan service wank gets old after a while

good. maybe they'll finally make something other than yuribait

Attached: 1551126792569.jpg (1235x800, 307K)

Less reliant on alchemy for me. I do love atelier games, but it is only for the art+girl talk. MK is just more enjoyable gameplay.

>hurrr Mana Khemia
fuck off

Good, maybe now they can let it rest in peace
F

Didn't the game that features every main character and the rorona sequel release really close to each other? Seems like one game could cannibalize the other

I knew Smash would over take Splatoon eventually, but it would have been nice for it to have gotten to that 3 mil first.

And yet it sold the lowest?? Both MK1 and 2 sold only 21k each on the ps2 hence they had to shelf it for Arland.

Atelier games are made with a low budget so they don't have to sell a lot of copies to make a profit.

HD gimped it. I miss the PS2 days so much, content rich mid-budget as far as the eye could see.

cope

I'm confused, I thought the entire point to this series was about implied yuri

opinion discarded

lol wat.

The franchise has always been like this.

calm down

It kind of died after Escha and Lodgy.

I wish those games had actually decent sale prices. The sale on the arland trilogy a few months ago had an insignificant discount.

It's a decent magic school story with minor dating sim mechanics.

A question about Lulua,

did Gust chicken out and have Rorona not be a real mom not to offend purity and yurifags?

It's time for Blue Reflection to shine.

Attached: 1552472034500.jpg (1920x1080, 883K)

That's about the number of sales Gust is used to, though. They're a low-budget niche series that just produces them by the bucketload--if you didn't figure that out by "19th in the Atelier series" synopsis, not even Ubishit shits out Asscreed at such a speedy pace.
Meanwhile every western dev blames Gaben if they don't sell ten million copies, and then proceed to try to sell the industry out to chinese companies like fucking retards.

>did Gust chicken out
They always do.

Only the PSP version went full dating sim. The ps2 game was more like persona in a way.

So Rorona is umarried and will likely remain a virgin forever?

The psp version of MK was literally the same shit.

Almost every mangaka and anime studio does. Its easier for them to brutaly kill off a character in graphic ways than show two characters have sex and have a kid.

I argue it died after Meruru. Last game that had both time limits that mattered, and quests that feel like they affected the overall world

What about two characters that have sex and have a kid and THEN get brutally killed?

Sounds like something Key would do.

Why not? Name 10 JPRGs this decade that has the MC even have a kiss with his/her romantic interest. The celibate/or oblivious hero/heroine is a very common trope in japanese media.

Rorona (the original one) Sold like 50k on its first week and that was considered a big success.

Meruru sold over 100k, now that was truly a huge success.

I blame Sophie for the downfall of the Atelier games.

>I blame Sophie for the downfall of the Atelier games.
Why?

>Why not?
I like seeing/knowing anime girls getting fucked.

Then youre out of luck then. You better stick to VNs. At best you get an accidental kiss or head bump once in a while or maybe some hand holding.

Fun characters. Fun gameplay. Great music. Cute design.

I honestly like Mana Khemia 1 more but 2 is way more funny with its humor.

Rorona was the only atelier I played so whatev.

It outsold Lydie & Suelle's first week on both platforms. It's doing fine.

Is Lydie and Suelle worth it?
Or is it trash like Sophie?

>lydie and suelle doing better than sophie

yeah my ass

Its an improvement but still lacks soul.

Is Nelke any good? Looks a bit different from other Ateliers where you have to manage an entire town?

It's good. Firis is as well. I didn't hate Sophie but it was definitely the low point for the series along with Shallie.

>muh time limits

what was wrong with shallie

I want another otome atelier.

I just started playing Rorona DX. Got full ranks on the first task. Tips for 2? I made a bunch of Supplement only to discover I had the "+5 Cost" upgrade waiting for me. Time to revert to an older save.

Any general tips? I can't seem to get enough material to craft any weapons.

So who did rorona bang or was it a fake out and shes adopted?

Firis bros unite!

Attached: .jpg (2560x1440, 724K)

Adopted

That was poor quality control and the Dusk games had admittedly bad localization work. They've gotten better though. There's still the occasional typo but it's not nearly as bad.

The life goals or whatever progression was bad IMO. I'm not against getting rid of time limits but they need to be replaced by something decent. Also the cast was dull. I didn't dislike the game but it's one of my least favorites. Honestly I think the difference in quality between the games is exaggerated. Ayesha is my favorite but I don't think there's a huge difference in quality between that and the others. It just gets a lot of the little things right (or at least more catered to my tastes) than the others did.

>persona
>not a dating sim

It's time to face reality.

Firis is my third favorite. It's a great pleb filter too. People wind about the recipe grind but it wasn't that bad. I also think they were on the right track with time limits (limit the first half and remove them from the second half/post-game stuff). They just need to make the limit stricter.

figures, i assume she cant get with anyone too?

No one is getting with anyone at all.

Sophie did weird things with the combat and overall was a weak followup to the pretty well received Dusk trilogy. It was also their first time moving onto the PS4 and they were obviously not prepared for it.

That face in the window.

Attached: 1519334418483.gif (401x325, 387K)

>Moeshit sells million
SAID NO ONE EVER

Attached: 1547020505516.jpg (256x273, 22K)

It's good but grab it on sale.

It did. Those numbers are from their financial reports.

Firis was the best one personally speaking. the back half can get horribly grindy and frequently crashes and has a lot of general graphics/ technical issues. but worked pretty well for an open world atelier game. but it sold HORRIBLY so like, they'll probably never revisit it.

Sophie was a departure from the previous games as it was the start of a new trilogy and changed the mechanics and advertising to get new players into the series. The alchemy was hugely simplified and given a tetris minigame component to it, while time limits were removed entirely and progress was instead gated by grinding goals and making specific items. The writing was a massive step down from previous entries with some random newcomer (Yuya Jin) put in charge of writing, and the characters in general were shallow and boring while the story itself sucked.
Sophie sold well due to its shiny new graphics and casualised game elements (80k+ first week sales) but everything since has sold far worse and with the last three games we're down to a sales slump the series hasn't seen since the mid-2000s and Iris / Mana Khemia entries.
That said, the recent games are selling well in the rest of Asia, so they seem to be getting by based on those sales making up for the deteriorating local sales.

All that said, blaming Sophie for the downfall of the Atelier games is misguided. What should really be blamed is the Koei-Tecmo acquisition of Gust.

This, Atelier is a shadow of its former self now, it's no wonder it doesn't sell anymore.

Atelier literally sells the same as it used to, Arland was an exception not a rule

>Atelier has been selling like shit for years now and besides the unexpected bump at the start of the seventh gen was on a decline since the PS2 era.
You absolute retard, Iris sold like shit and Mana Khemia was the worst selling games in the series' history, and Viorate fared little better.

All this.
KT has made some horrible business choices, such as gating obvious support characters behind DLC,
selling season passes at $80.
Not marketing the games worth a damn. they won't even pop up on any site for wish list till the games drop.
Selling a trilogy of games that came out some 6+ years ago at a total of $120, pricing each game at $40 individually.
KT targets fans directly, and doesn't do any marketing to get new fans in. The only way I've seen new people hear about atelier games, is through other fans.

>Atelier has been selling like shit for years now and besides the unexpected bump at the start of the seventh gen was on a decline since the PS2 era.
Except for Rorona and Shallie, every other PS3 Atelier had better first week sales than any PS2 release. This is without factoring in any of the ports or re-releases.
When going by LTD sales, literally every PS3 Atelier sold better than any PS2 Atelier.

Attached: wrong.jpg (400x400, 38K)

>Not marketing the games worth a damn. they won't even pop up on any site for wish list till the games drop.
That one's an issue of KT US, who are one of the most out of touch localisation companies ever. The games get plenty of marketing and promotions in Japan. It's really disheartening that the series was better off in the hands of NISA in the west, though.

fpbp
OP is retarded
atelier is shit though desu

Attached: 1552158989104.png (496x494, 422K)

Nelke came out in December in Japan, since it got delayed several months. But it was also a town building sim more than a game like the rest.

>They've gotten better though.
BORTHAYRE

That's just what the local cancer seems to think.

Reminder that these numbers are the combined Japan+Asia sales, and the Japan only sales for Sophie and L&S have not been provided, nor have combined sales been provided for any other games. The implication here is obvious.

It's the same metric for Sophie and Lydie & Suelle, so Lydie still outsold Sophie regardless.

No one is arguing about what the total combined sales are.

I wonder what's going to happen to the series once the next console gen comes out. I asume ps5 will drive development costs up again, so who knows if it's profitable to keep making them. I also wonder about the graphics, I don't see how we can move beyond the ps3 era graphics now that the switch will shackle the look of the ps5 games.

Astrid probably fucked her a few times.

Yet they were the best games in the series objectively.
>Every single item you made had a cutscene of characters taking about it
You sure as hell dont get that much effort in modern Atelier games.

Attached: 1535741631711.jpg (1600x1205, 407K)

that's real odd considering sophie is supposed to be a nip favorite and even nips kept saying how LS bombed

PS2-era Gust games were awful.

>Yet they were the best games in the series objectively.
Not even remotely. They were braindead, simplistic, and had shit character designs and characters in general, plus the worst soundtracks in the franchise's history.
>Every single item you made had a cutscene of characters taking about it
Not as hard when you only have a fraction of the items to make and so decide to put your focus on character interactions instead of gameplay depth.

>sophie is supposed to be a nip favorite
Only in the sense that she won a character popularity poll, which is easily explained by her being the protagonist and her and Platchta being the only characters from their game to place in the poll results at all.

>instead of gameplay depth
Are you fucking joking, it had better combat and areas than all of the PS3 era Ateliers by far. Like its fucking staggering how shitty Roronas gameplay was to Iris3 and MK2.

Id argue its alchemy was better because while not having depth it wasn't a total fucking joke to break the game like Arland and Dusk ended up being.

>Are you fucking joking, it had better combat and areas than all of the PS3 era Ateliers by far. Like its fucking staggering how shitty Roronas gameplay was to Iris3 and MK2.
I just don't understand people who say this when the combat has nothing special about it at all and is just as bland as turn-based combat gets, and the areas are just the same boring 2D maps that all the Iris, MK, and Ar tonelico games had. But I guess in MK's case it had way more enemies so you had to sit through way more battles compared to Iris or AT.
>Id argue its alchemy was better because while not having depth it wasn't a total fucking joke to break the game like Arland and Dusk ended up being.
I'd argue that disliking a system for allowing you to perform well if you know what you're doing is an utterly retarded mentality to have.

>that's real odd considering sophie is supposed to be a nip favorite
Sophie the character. As much as Sophiefags try to use this as "Japan loves her game", it's Sophie herself that is popular.

Mana Khemia had an amazing OST fag.

Do you consider Logy and Shallie to have shitty combat? Because theirs is literally just a stripped down Mana Khemia's.

>Nefertiti

Attached: 1451618615123.jpg (250x272, 37K)

It was repeated here that L&S bombed and Atelier was going to get cancelled until those numbers came out too.

Arlandniggers shitting up Atelier threads as per the norm I see.

Isn't Atelier like the COD of JRPGs?

>tfw Atelier is getting constant non-comfy threads

>The Gust general on /jp/ died after years of hanging around because of endless Mysterious bickering

Attached: 1313300393009.jpg (180x180, 5K)

>Chocobo sold well

Sweet. Hope they make a new one now.

Attached: images.jpg (259x194, 7K)

seething yuri-fag

>I'd argue that disliking a system for allowing you to perform well if you know what you're doing is an utterly retarded mentality to have.
Nigger you flat out never have to use alcemy, bombs, or anything in the game very early on after you make full retard equipment very trivially.
So then whats left to do in the game? Complete the story requests and completely ignore the alchemy system because every recipe is now pointless?

>These atrocious numbers all around

Do japs only play gachashit and nintendo games?

This is news to you?

Only Mysteriousfags are yurifags, don't lump me in with them, thank you.

>You don't have to do thing
You don't have to go out of your way to make equipment that can trivialise the game either. Or you can make strong equipment and strong items because just making good equipment and then refusing to engage with the game anymore is stupid. Or maybe you just played on easy where that strategy worked, because good luck trying to beat any of Meruru or Dusk's bonus bosses without using items if playing on hard. Hell, even Dusk's story bosses are reasonably difficult.

It had some of the best turn based gameplay due to how unique it was. It was still easy, but it was the sort of system that had potential.

How much does SRW normally sell? I'm having a blast with T.
>fucking Spike always trying to find ways to make a quick buck
>Van and his meme condiments and CHESUTO
>Domon being tsundere as fuck but always helping people out

yes. the cities only have apartments large enough for them to use their phones in. having a computer or a tv would mean they sleep outside
young people that would be playing video games do not exist outside of the cities.

Has there been any news of what's next to come after Scion? Is it another Arland saga?

It only just released in Japan, we won't get any info about the next game for at least five months.

Do you honestly believe everything you read on Yea Forums like a sheep?

>Still waiting for my copy to arrive
Play-Asia has a lot of gall charging $15 for shipping with no tracking and several weeks delivery time.

Attached: 1283855335364.png (170x236, 5K)

>Atelier is finally dead
Its about damn time. I was wondering how many times it would take GUST to figure out that pandering to their otaku fanbase with their tired ass moeshit would eventually run them into the ground. Maybe now we can have a revival via a return to the Iris and Mana series.

Are you new to SRW? I used to play them years ago, but they are just boring now.

>In Iris you made new things not only by new books but by actual experiments and mutations of your existing recipes
>You make a big craft bomb not by finding a big craft bomb recipe, but by changing the ingredients of your old craft recipe
>This is somehow worse than the boring as shit systems in Arland because they have double the amount of items to make, none of which have any scenes attached to them and 90% of them you will never make more than once
/gust/ is still being retarded as usual I see.
Onsoku put your trip back on you nigger, we all know its you.

That sounds fun. I wonder if that's how Firis came about.

>Maybe now we can have a revival via a return to the Iris and Mana series.
Yeah, clearly after their recent failures, it would be a good idea to go back to the series that managed to sell even worse.

>none of which have any scenes attached to them
Why do you lie? Plenty of items have scenes for them in Arland and Dusk.

Attached: 2014-07-29-103700.jpg (960x544, 131K)

I play them once in a while to prevent said burn-out. I got burned out recently too after playing Z2.1 - Z2.2 - Z3.1 - Z3.2. So I spaced out playing V and X, and now T.

I really liked the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, and I like FF as a series too. Does Chocobo Mystery Dungeon have endearing storytelling like the PMD and/or FF games?

yeah but who will buy them? certainly not fat lonely japanese virgins

Not him but the issue with SRW games is they stagnate and due to graphics and systems getting better you get less series reps which then makes you pissy because "game I played years ago had all these why doesn't this"

Plus as you said burnouts a hell of a thing.
I was marathoning atelier games last summer and by the time I hit Ayesha I just wasn't having fun anymore.

The day Atelier goes mainstream is the day Atelier dies.

>how it's made with actual passion from developers
If most of these games were made with actual passion, 90% of them wouldn't be shovelware.

Gust has other IPs they can use or they can survive on new IPs, look at how Blue Reflection beat out Atelier Shallie's debut sales when that came out. Atelier has gotten old. it's time for the new to take over.

And with the new games, SRW has major issues of reusing assets. Seriously, I'm pretty sure I've seen Black Selena do the exact same moves in SRW V, X and T.

That's because they're still reusing animations from Z3.

The company was bought out in 2012.

Depends on how one defines "endearing", but the story is definitely a major focus.

You have it backwards, Atelier is the bread and butter series to fund the other IPs. Problem is their other IPs keep turning out poorly made and rushed.

Name 1 other Atelier that can compete with this Kino.

I really need to play this game.

Attached: AtelierAAAA.jpg (1920x1080, 129K)

Oh yeah, Z3 as well. Fucking hell, how many games do they plan on reusing some of this shit.

Any Atelier game with SOUL

Attached: 1523922276622.png (328x400, 330K)

Except those other IPs are now outselling Atelier on launch because Atelier sales are dropping with each entry

Until 4k resolution becomes the new standard, probably.

>Remove the toon shading
>Game immediately looks 100x better

That isn't kawaii.

It sure looks KAWAII to me BOIAH

I would like them if they let me romance them. This yurishit is gay.

This. But I really would just like to see non shit endings. I don't care if you have 50 million different ends if they are all shit.

Honestly this.

Wait what. Post a before and after.

Atelier used to be pretty brutal but recent games are just too easy. They are probably trying to switch the target audience to female. Bad move, I'd say.

>Passion

LMFAO WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH MOETARDS. Like 90% of the content in these types of games is just reused shit.

>Only Mysteriousfags are yurifags
The yurifags are usually Totori fans actually

Wouldn't females want to be surrounded by pretty boys and tough guys though?\
If girls are their target audience i think they missed the mark.

the target audience used to be female until mana khemia

That just looks uncanny and ugly.

I can't do comparison shots at the moment, since I don't have the game installed anymore. But the game has shit like bump maps, area lighting, object lighting that actually interacts with the characters / world (I'm serious, the toon shader stops this from happening.) shadows, and even fucking occlusion hidden underneath that shitty toon shader. Turning it off drastically improves the look of the game.

Attached: lighting.jpg (1920x1080, 125K)

Hes saying that women want to play easy games like farmville.

The target audience was equally men and women for every series except Iris, MK, and Mysterious, which were all primarily targeted towards men.

Totori is meant for Mimi but that's pretty much the only yuri relationship the franchises pushes to any real capacity, almost everyone else is straight, especially Rorona.

It looks like complete ass

The boys in that game are kinda pretty. I'm not female so I can't actually judge. Though as I find myself find them rather endearing, maybe it's just like you said, they clearly missed the mark.

This is probably just a matter of the shitty engine and Gust's bad programmers doing all of this by accident which is why it all runs so poorly.

>when one asshole who slaps some cheap postprocess effect onto the game actually makes the work of his peers meaningless
someone oughtta slap that guy with a fish

That looks far worse.

I too love it when everything that isn't my character is a blurry mess.

Dualshock5 leak again ?

Attached: 54451245896.jpg (1920x1080, 226K)

I'm not female, but as a gay male I really love Sterk and Logy. They are both very handsome, nice, and tall. These two also had great chemistry together.

Attached: atelier-escha-logy.jpg (770x435, 333K)

That doesnt look photoshoped at all.

It disappoints me this rivalry wasn't done well enough.
>I'm a tensai!
>actually turns to be a tensai
>is basically of no importance to the story since Firis would have managed without her

>Genius
>Throws away her plan to shut down the waterspout to help with Firis' full retard ship idea

That one does look 3D rendered. Earlier one posted didn't or I at least didn't notice right off like this one.

Ah shit wait. I guess Firis couldn't have managed without her then. It was utmost importance that she be the only one who could do a certain task in that dumb quest. Honestly, how could a master alchemist like Sophie not just blow that sprout apart by herself? Plot much.

>time limits were removed entirely and progress was instead gated by grinding goals and making specific items.
I didn't like the time limits, so it's kind of right to do that, but they should've done it right, like in Rune Factory.

Basically everyone joins together to support Firis' idea because Firis improving as an alchemist and working together with people is more important to everyone than resolving the waterspout problem as quickly as possible since it's harming the town's economy and ability to trade for goods and travel and the well-being of its people as a result. God that was some terrible writing.

Well yeah, that's the real problem. It's not just "they got rid of time limits and that's bad", it's "they got rid of time limits and didn't come up with a good replacement for them so the new games have shitty pacing as a result".

That just reminded me how that quest took me over a hundred days to do. Scared me for a bit that I would end up missing the exam.

Well yea the lack of time limits just kinda reveals how shallow the games have been.

even some of the old ones didn't have time limits like Judie, but to compensate they made the game hard.

>last game I played 100% was Ayesha, which I loved
>tried Shallie, absolutely hated it
>haven't touched the series since
I was thinking of getting some of the newer ones on Steam, but the prices are fucking retarded and they're apparently rife with performance issues. Such a shame.

Haven't played many of the Atelier games (Escha and Logy is the only one I've finished) but I really enjoy Mana Khemia's OST. I still listen to it every day.

If anybody wants to post their favorite OST from any of the games, I'm open to more greatness.

>When you remove the entire system that the game is structured around and leave everything else alone it stops interacting in a meaningful way
Who would've thought?

This is sad at this rate we will only get games filled with niggers, trannies, faggots and leftist politics.

>otaku stuff was never popular and it was always an industry made by passion not for profits
>an industry made by passion not for profits
user otaku shit is the cheapest shit possible done only for profit to exploit retards that buy any shit with moe sticker on it

Good. Atelier went to shit with the Mysterious trilogy. GUST as a whole did too.

Ar tonelico / surge concerto reboots when

Time literally stop mattering the moment you get gud in any atelier though.

This has nothing to do with difficulty.

>sekiro bombed

NICE
now make dark souls 4 thanks

>the fact that it keeps being made regardless is a testament to how it's made with zero budget and rehashed everything

ftfy

I beat Chocobo Mystery Dungeon yesterday.

It was fun and good, but it felt like a port of a shovelware Wii game. Probably because it is.

It really needs a sequel with real depth and 2019 QoL features.

>youtube.com/watch?v=G6fDVCyL5Qs
Weird how they composed a song that's all build up and no pay-off.

It felt like a genuine complete RPG (1 mind you not 2) where all systems of the game were tied together. Something I feel the later Atelier games fail at horribly. Yes theres a direct correlation between making a good bomb/equipment but all of the random materials and billions of healing items end up feeling like worthless filler now.

Mana Khemias grow book is such a simple yet effective system to tie in alchemy to the rest of the game in a meaningful way,
You want to make new items because even weird irrelevant shit unlocks new stats and skills in your book. And you want to make the items well which reinforces coming back to your old recipes as well as forcing you to get better at alchemy because later on every item needs near max rating for the final part of the book.

The combat was quick and flashy with characters all doing unique stuff. Compare that to Rorona which followed it which was so many steps back its staggering how boring it became. Even when they finally got to the Escha and just sorta copied many of the old combat systems they did a poor job of the polish in it making things like support attacks and guards boring and spammy rather than each character getting their own unique ones.

Firis' dlc added new endings and whole branches of dialogue for the new characters. They were completely new and original but it really feels like they put a lot of effort into it. And it was reasonably priced.

>VEE
>GEE
>CHARTZ

Glad to hear that. They were all pleasant to listen to. I also remembered how much I love this
youtube.com/watch?v=ULozNxBkkzY

Guess I'll have to find a way to get into the series, if only to hear everything in context. Thanks, friend.

Clearly it was because it was too successful and set the gold standard for all past, present and future Atelier games. But the bar was set too high and ended up making all other Atelier games look awful in comparison.

No, that's Meruru. Sophie sold well because of people trying it out since the PS4 didn't have many JRPGs at that point. Meruru sold well because it was a good game and the climax of a good trilogy.
If Sophie was good then people would have bought Firis too instead of ignoring the series after that one game.

Bandai Namco partially owns Ar Tonelico, Ar nosurge and Ciel nosurge so never.

They should make a loli MC again.

Have they ever done that before? I don't recall that happening.

>get great artist for new games but don't fix or improve anything about the game itself
>revert back to shit art and rehash the same broken game yet again
>sell even less
get fucked

Yes you Arland secondary.

That's not what secondary means.
Also which character then?

I was clearly joking with my post, but the fact that you actually got defensive about it gives credence that people are hating on Sophie because they are SEETHING at her success. Does she need to get her own sequel and outsell all other Atelier games again before you accept your inadequacy?

How could an Arland player be a secondary? The only way anyone could be an Atelier secondary is if they watched the E&L anime.

S
Sterk, Logy, and all of the fujobait pricks have been poisoning Atelier since day one and now it's fucking dying. Praise Neptunia for being all about the cute girls.

>NOCO and Yuugen were shit artists and the worst artists the franchise has had outside of MK
>The newest game went back to Mel who is top two if not the best
>Lulua sold better than L&S
I don't understand your post.

No. Fujobait shitstains like Sterk and Logy killed Atelier. Atelier should have been an all-girls game since the very beginning.

Aren't Gust games made on shoestring budgets?

>VGcharts
You just played yourself.

Fromsoft can't into sequels
DS2 and 3 were utter garbage

based Sekiro

>Mentally ill yurifag is also a Neptuniafag

>Mentally ill yurifag is also a Neptuniafag
That should not come as a surprise to anyone with two brain cells to fire a synapse. I remember when /nepgen/ had a meltdown over the Noire game because it had a faceless male protag.

>Bring fujoshit fuccbois like Sterk and Logy every game
>Your game slowly dies every game
Justice is served. Atelier should've been an all-girls yuri game

Can't spell seething without het, dumb hetincel.
