best WoW expansion, it went to shit right after this

Agreed.

That was BC.
Wotlk has good atmosphere but sadly end game sucked along with PvP and Dungeons being ez as fuck. It was the downfall of WoW midway when activision joined.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck you. BC was good but WotLK was top comfy

Wrathbaby thread?

I played since raid UBRS and WotLK is my favourite exp.

WotLK was the introduction of group finder and the end of the game as an interesting world to explore and exist in and the start of the game as a compartmentalized collection of systems which trivialized the world that made it great.

Oh so you just have shit taste. Got it.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you

>dungeon finder
>heirlooms
>oculus
>trial of the champion and the crusader
>naxxramas and onyxia

pretty much. early wotlk was good, if not great since all the zones were extremely well done and blizzard very clearly learned what they needed to change about the world layout from TBC's issues. main issue was endgame was too easy with the naxx rehash, faceroll heroics, and the hardest encounter being a 10man encounter (3drake sarth). and maybe the devs went a little too nuts with their shiny new vehicle combat/quest phasing tech for quests, since that shit was everywhere to the point of being obnoxious. ulduar was fantastic. post-ulduar/toc was fucking awful. ICC patch would have saved it if it weren't for LFD. it was also the expansion that introduced the cash shop, and at that point it became blatantly obvious that activision would be the ones pulling the strings from now on, and every expansion afterward suffered for it.

I remember not even playing WoW but my best friend played it religiously
I used to watch him raid black wing lair while I played some other shit and the first time I saw him play Trial of the Crusader or whatever the one was where it was just in a small arena I was like 'what the fuck is that shit'

I didnt even play the game and I could tell it was shit

I can't believe 1900 was 119 years ago.

vanilla > wotlk = mop > tbc > legion > cata > wod > bfa

what's the current equivalent of a wrathbabby

>oculus
>trial of the champion and the crusader

Attached: tumblr_mq6jkcQHpj1s9iivfo2_400.gif (400x226, 1.96M)

to this day i still don't understand why everyone shits their pants about the oculus. it takes less than 5 minutes to read what the fucking drakes do and where all the bosses are on a wiki.

>oculus was bad
t. retard that couldn't figure out a 2 button rotation on drakes.
Oculus was far from the worst dungeon.

That is not kawaii

There's no equivalent, wrathbabbies will always be wrathbabbies.

The top 3 worst things to happen to WoW are
>group finder and every later iteration of it (raid finder etc)
>heirlooms
>transmog
I can't believe how many people defend transmogs, it was so fucking cool how you could tell how good someone was just by looking at their character before transmogs were a thing. Also, this has less to do with transmogs and more to do with the absolute shit storm that is gear nowadays but transmogs feed into it, but I used to be able to name gear people were wearing just by looking at it. I played BfA for months and I literally could not name a single piece of gear I got because it just didnt matter. The name didn't matter, how it looked didn't matter, the fucking stats even hardly mattered. All that mattered was the fucking ilvl...

continued BC's greatness until the very last patch. Fuck dungeon finder.

BC was overall better but I will admit Ulduar was straight up the peak of WoW
>tfw we'll probably have to wait 2-5 years before we get the official BC and Wrath realms

Attached: 1553506588512.jpg (721x614, 104K)

i could figure it out just fine but nobody else could
vehicle combat is one of the worst additions to WoW ever

I cant believe its been like 15 years and WoW still isnt good

TEN YEARS???

What am I doing with my life Yea Forums

i sort of liked transmog because some people can get real creative with it, but i agree that the disconnect between what your gear looked like and what the piece actually was kind of ruined the sense of character progression. likewise, i can only name my artifact weapons and one or two legendaries from legion. everything else was just a throwaway with a number on it.

you could see transmog as an inevitable byproduct of everyone getting welfare epics. if everyone gets the exact same gear because it's being handed out like candy, then they don't feel special because they all look the exact same, so they have to find other ways to stand out (i.e. transmog). of course the solution to that would be to NOT hand out gear like that and actually make gear a form of progression that people work towards so you can make special pieces visually distinct, but players wanted to have their cake and eat it too so they got good, easy gear and got to play dressup.

You forgot that TBC and Wotlk completely destroyed the lore, which is important in any RPG.
That's why a lot of people were done with the game and it felt "finished" after wotlk.

If there is one thing i don't get,it's why people shit on transmog.I get all the other shit people blame for the 'death' of WoW,but transmog is the only thing I can recall that blizzard added that actually made the game better and added replayability.
>B-b-but I can't tell how geared people are :(
Look at their stats or some shit.
Transmog solved the problem of everyone looking the same at high-end raiding.
This way, with transmog,at least people could show their creative side and ,god forbid, actually have some fun and roleplay in a god damn mmoRPG.
I'd be glad if they added transmog to wow classic (we all know it won't be a 1:1 rendition of vanilla wow) because it would add another layer to the game which would keep players engaged.
And if it's such a big problem for people like you, they should just ad a client side command that disables transmog.
That way there is not reason for people like you to whine about it.

>it’s been 10+ years since Starcraft 2 came out

>absolutely adored wotlk ret and its FCFS rotation of different weights and T10 procs
>seriously, it was fucking fun, when you got the rhythm of it you slipped into the zone and did 10% more damage over some facerolling fuck
>constant attention and input was required, I really felt like I was hammering away like a fist of an angry god
>motherfucking SoC cleave on trash packs with divine storm
>loved prot too, the steady rythme of the 6/9/6/9, the careful balancing between spells and proper management of spare GCDs
>that aoe threat nigger, like a rabbi in '39 berlin
>loved holy too, playing around with beacon, precasting/planning out holy lights, proper use of holy shocks, that feeling of immense fuckng throughput, like I'm channeling pure fucking light and I'm only limited by the amount of targets I can heal
>cata prepatch comes out and turns ALL THREE SPECS into a boring ass plate rogue

I will never be not absolutely stark, raving mad after this. What the FUCK they were thinking?

>8 years ago is now 10+ years ago

Wotlk didn't do all that much damage to the lore, BC was FAR worse in that regard

Ehh. Close enough. Still makes me feel ancient

you forgot one of the top worst things
Arena

bloody stupid ass mode required classes to be balanced around 2 v 2 wrecking the class design

>rapes the MC of Wc3 and turns him and the scourge into a joke.
>rapes Anubarak
>Btw the main villain of Wc3 dies in a book.
>Let's rez some characters because why not.

It's worst than TBC imo.

Also one thing I don't like about WoW and its' endgame are the tiers for classes.
What point is there for other gear when tier is BiS for everyone for that current raid tier.
Instead of encouargeing players to mix and match different gear to get the most out of the stats, blizzard just makes it so that everyone ends up in the same cookie-cutter gear with cookie-cutter builds.
And the fact that tiers are the go-to gear is something that ruins its' own uniqueness.
Gear that alters your spells should be something that's rare and hard to get,and not the go-to gear.

what happened to the Lich King was downright dignified compared to the treatment Kael'thas and Illidan got in TBC
oh and fucking Draenei and fucking WINDCHIMES

>and fucking Draenei

Its pretty funny how autists keep crying about this like some horrible, irreversible injustice has happened to the lore, when the big change was just revealing that there was more to the crippled wretches that served as low level mobs and they actually recieved a proper storyline.

They didn't rape Illidan the way they raped Arthas. His character was consistent.
Kael i agree, but again he wasn't the mc of wc3.
Dranei had really few screentime in the rts.

This. Illidan was never an anti-hero, he was always an unstable, selfish villain who was taken to the logical conclusion in BC. Only edgelords were attached to him. Kael going full evil was a mistake though, atleast they could have shown him getting onto the slippery slope.

>2009
>Not getting Sarth 3d down by having 9 DDs pulling 4,2k DPS+ per raid member and having a hunter or mage ranged taunt the drake qwhen it comes in

I seriously hope you guys didn't do this

BC was the best while showing some early symptoms of cancer. WotLK had one great raid and leveling itself was good too but the rest was bad, even if it wasn't as bad as anything that came afterwards.

the draenei retcon completely changed the motivation/backstory of sargeras, the leader of the burning legion and the final big bad of the entire franchise at the time.

pre-TBC
>sargeras was corrupted by the evil and cruelty he saw from certain alien races, in particular the nathrezim and the eredar
>thought they were beyond saving and became all mopey and eventually angry
>decided that if evil like that is going to exist he's just going to burn the entire universe to the ground instead of trying to fight to preserve it like he was supposed to
>started the burning legion
>draenei are just some chucklefuck nobody race that got caught up in his bullshit

post-TBC
>eredar are peaceful alien not!demons
>sargeras is already evil somehow? (later reveal to be old gods in legion, because of fucking course it is)
>already has his legion army he's been collecting for years
>instead he corrupts the eredar, turning kiljaeden and archimonde evil by offering them power
>velen flees with the remaining good eredar, and his followers are renamed to the draenei
>draenei turn all gross and weird when they're cut off from the holy light which is why they playable ones look prettier

there was zero connection between these two states. metzen, the LEAD WRITER, literally just fucking forgot sargeras' backstory when writing the lore for TBC.

>the draenei retcon completely changed the motivation/backstory of sargeras, the leader of the burning legion and the final big bad of the entire franchise at the time.

wowie, just like how he was retconned into existence before and how KJ was supposed to be the big bad in WC2? You know that the entire concept of the burning crusade came with WC3, right?

>literally just fucking forgot sargeras' backstory when writing the lore for TBC.

Yeah, the entire paragraph of it. A devastating loss right there, up with Northeron and God from the WC1 manual
