You can, it's mostly for variety and fun. But Purge and Blood Shield are the OP pls nerf bread and butter of the Clan. Brawl is good against humans, but you'll need the Aggravated damage melee causes to do meaningful damage against other vamps and supernatural beings who become more common later on. As a Tremere though you can probably ignore melee entirely.

They're 3rd gen, incredibly old, and can wipe out a large city in a week. The only things the clans are good for is obscuring the antediluvian's movements from his peers. There's also the fact that literally everyone in your clan would be looking to diablerize you if they managed to catch you off-guard. This is why most vampires don't even know that antediluvians exist iirc

All of the 2nd gens are dead (Caine only sired 3 childer) and there were 13 antediluvians who each founded the major clans. IIRC the Tremere became a true clan when they diablerized the antediluvian of the Sabisi(?) and everyone else has never really trusted them after that shit. I'd recommend reading up on the Jyhad, it covers a lot of the vampire secret war shit.
You can also go to thetrove dot com and look for the old World of Darkness books, which spell everything out for you. My personal recommendation is the 20th anniversary version of Vampire the Masquerade.

It's also rumored that the Tzimisce and Lasombra managed to find their antediluvian and diablerize them, which makes them the big shots within the Sabbat, since their whole faction is centered around killing all of the antediluvians before the Gehenna happens.

Lasombra Antediluvian is in the Abyss, using Obtenebration as a way of intruding into the world and trying to breach the Abyss to bring forth the primordial darkness, before God brought light into existence, across all of creation.

Most of them aren't fucking retarded enough to try that bullshit. Especially since diablerie can blow up in your face, by having said Antediluvian take over your body. The real thing is that Antediluvians have their own goals and over the ages have become disconnected from their childer, which is something the game does tend to show off by how callous and ruthless the older vampires are. The older they are, the more disconnected they tend to be from their humanity. Not necessarily monstrous, but simply inhuman.

Also, Absimiliard isn't the actual progenitor of most Nosferatu, his only real childer are the Nictuku, people he embraced for the purpose of hunting down the Nosferatu and killing them off. Baba Yaga was his childe, who then made the other Nosferatu.

It amazes me how someone hasn't just tried wholesale to kill off the Giovanni, even back in the Dark Ages. They weren't really all that necessary for the other vampires.

So what's up with the Tremere? I know that they are wizards that cheated themselves into vampirism by draining vampire buddha and making his curse their own, which is one of the reasons they're seen as vampire illegal immigrants in the eyes of other kindred.
But what about their magic? Why did vampirism turn off their magical powers? Is all that occult shit they do with blood magic "dark" versions of their magic because of their cursed souls and related to regular magic in any way?

Vampires are incapable of doing true magick like magechads use so the Tremere use Thaumaturgy as a pale facsimile of it.

Thaumaturgy is based on an ancient paradigm function of True Magick, which Vampires are by nature incapable of. It is impossible for them to become aware of, and therefore alter, the Tapestry, the foundation on which reality is placed. To Mages, Blood Magic, though potent and deadly to everyone who isn't a mage, is a simple parlor trick in comparison to their own abilities. In fact they can easily dismiss blood magic, and are given two extra attempts to cast counterspells againts it, so simple are the spells to them.

However Mages do not posess the inherent physical attributes, regeneration, or immortality of a Vampire. Honestly a Tremeres best bet at killing a Mage is to run up to him and stab him.

Mage (with capital M) are regular human whose soul awakened, making them able to actually control the instinctive reality bending any soul has (reality is only the sum of what everyone believe the world is, which is why some Mage groups dedicate their live to change the mindset of non-Mages on what is possible or not).
Vampires being undead lose that soul and can't bend reality, not even as a weak passive effect like normal human do.

As for why Tremere downgraded to vampires : bending reality mean pushing against the collective "reality is like THIS" power of mankind - it's doable in small quantity but exhausting can quickly bounce back in your face. This is a problem for Mage who seek immortality, has simply *existing* require to bend reality at all instant.
Vampires on the other hand are Reals : they exist because humans believe they do, they are immortal because humans believe they do. A 6 millions years old vampire is fine, a 600 years old human Mage would get nuked by reality itself.

According to the points you can get in Bloodlines, the player is about 8th gen, which causes certain lore issues. It's speculated that the player is so powerful in Bloodlines due to some Caine-bullshit.
Tremere don't seek out magi to Embrace, since they're so dangerous.
Hunters are mostly mortal, but there's some whose skills can only be explained by supernatural means. I haven't done much reading on them, they can have some pretty weird stuff going on.

No. Mages are typically very againts the idea of vampirism as it denies them the use of their magic, and they are also simply quite dangerous. The Tremere typically heavily vet their prospective childer from among individuals who show scholastic and occult interest, willpower and aggresion, and an ability to adhere to a hierarchy.

The protagonist of Bloodlines is generally considered to be around 8th gen due to his starting number of bloodpoints. However this conflicts with the seeming ease with which Lacroix then captures and executes your sire. Any vampire around that age would be considered a moderately big deal.

Hunters are awakened to the reality of the occult, and as such there are a variety of different gifts each will receive that contribute to their task. They also typically get their hands on a number of relics that grant certain abilities. They still rely on their knowledge of the supernatural bestiary and getting the drop on their query more than anything though.

because he's not even a good ventrue, the man is barely only in his mid 200's (young for someone wanting to even claim themselves an elder frankly, especially for a blue blood) and statuswise is considered a neonate by his peers, his takeover of LA was pure opportunism and doomed to eventually fall apart once the anarchs weren't licking their wounds after the last koui jin conflict because he quiet literally walked into an anarch free state and said "I'm prince now ok guys?"

Mages inherent nature fuck up reality. Every time they cast a spell on public, there’s a chance of the universe around them blowing up. A properly prepared mage can seriously slap some shit by having all the local rules of reality change.

Humans are supposed to be able to best the average vampire at anything as long as they train super hard. Afaik they mostly rely on ambushing/isolating/trapping their target tho, doubt frontal assault is ever going to do too well.
The hunters' leader was using True Faith, which is definitively supernatural. Dunno if it's common and/or if they are also using rituals and lesser form of magic or something else

Plus Patch lets you skip the sewers. So a must if you're going on a Ventrue run, a preferable for pretty much everyone else.

it's a unique game and there's nothing quiet like it out there, but you do have to understand when your going in that it's jank and it's unfinished.

Vastly overstated. Pretty much everything is fairly straightforward in tone and meaning except for a handful of Fishmalk dialogues that don't effect anything. Your character just comes up with different names for everyone and drops the occasional blurb of meta.

The entire "gameplay" of a Mage is to make changes in reality as believable as possible, otherwise reality start hitting back *really* hard.
And reality always win.
A Mage reality-bending powers aren't *much* stronger than a normal person, it's just conscious instead of being passive.
If 7 billions humans all agree that human can't possible live beyond 130yo, you are literally taking a mental fight against all of them trying to go over. You will get utterly crushed in that fight, no matter how strong you are.

Possible solutions :
- Live in an outer realm where normal people don't affect reality so anything can be whatever you want. You still die with major prejudice if you get too close to normal reality.
