learn the difference between his thrust and sweep. always counter the thrusts

continuously attack him like genshiro or any other human opponent, but when he sparks up you usually have to deflect 3 hits

>phase 3
kinda suck at this one but keep your distance. try to hit and run (and punish his jump attacks) for the first part to get his health below 75% so his posture stops regenerating. then get close up and keep attacking and countering. if the red symbol shows up it's usually a thrust so mikiri

>phase 4
save all your firecrackers for this phase. I suck at the lightning so I can't help you there

And you obviously haven't played Sekiro if you think that any Ninja Gaiden including the NES one is harder.

I'm able to do it without taking any damage. Thanks for the tips but starting from phase 3 this fight is just downright unfair. They should've removed the health bar for this fight because basically it's 1 mistake and you can stop trying and wasting your own time.

I still don't know how to counter lightning, I guess it's impossible. You can dodge the lightning attacks if you are lucky but if the game doesn't want you to win then you die.
I honestly don't understand why would they make a non-optional boss harder than all Souls bosses including the DLC ones combined

resurrect and run back to bonfire if you're not in a boss fight.

once you have dragon rot going on, you can cure it pretty quickly, and the cure fixes every NPC

In past soulsborne games you could end up with a useless build though. In sekiro you always know it's winnable.

As in, there are a ridiculous amount of games out there that are far harder but because they are not recently released heavily marketed games, the zommers don't know about it, and with their limited experience in playing actual hard games this this might very well be the hardest game for them.

Im scared of the final boss based on user reports. I've managed a few mini bosses first time but genchiro and the guardian ape really pushed my shit in. Genuinely fearful i won't be able to finish it with the reputation.

The final phase is a bit messy like that. When i passed it it really was just blind parry and hit spam with a few lucky lighting reversals.

The first stage is really great though.
