Playing it right now for the first time. Loved 1 (played it on release and recently). Disliked 2, although I didn't hate it. It compelled me enough to finish it but I wouldn't say I really enjoyed it.

I'm liking 3 more but I fucking hate swamps and I just got to my first. The thing I hate most about these games is that I miss so much shit going through a level. I can see things up high and down low and have no idea how to get to them.

I don't like the look of Sekiro at all so I though this was the best time to pick this up.

This shit is not even a contest. ds2 sucks and people generally agree with that so there is no need to discus that. ds1 on the other hand shits itself so hard after the archives that its not even fun to play anymore. Lost iza TRASH new londo TRASH catacombs TRASH. DLC is alright. DS3 however is just a smooth overall fun experience throughout the whole game with perhaps too much fan service ,but it has best bosses out of all the games. It also closes out the series well enough by giving 5 endings for lore fags.

I bought this without DLC because I bought 1 with DLC and never played it because it was too much bullshit to access and 2 I didn't enjoy enough to carry on with the DLC. I never buy games with DLC on release and generally don't buy DLC anymore, unless the GOTY edition is the only one available.

Lol if I told you how many hours I have in ds3 you wouldn’t believe me. First off, I own ds3 on PS4, Xbone and PC and I have 100% achievements for each game. I easily have over 3k hours across the game. I have a level 500 character and dozens of characters at every pvp level range. Idk what it is, I love the game. I love it. It has fantastic replay ability and the multiplayer is fantastic and it’s not even the main component of the game.

As an aside, I don’t understand their fetish for swamps in this game. I felt it most in the Ringed City, where you have this cool mixture of Byzantine/Babylonian architecture, but 75 percent of the DLC is swamp rather than 75 percent of it being the city. I get they wanted to show the abyss consuming it, but still.

I'm not a DS2fag, it's still my second-least favorite Soulsborne game. I'm just giving it credit for being willing to separate itself from the iconic first game and tell interesting new stories set in the same universe. The game also has a nice atmosphere and soundtrack which is reminiscent of old adventure games like Zelda.

PvP is fun in souls games for like the first month the game is out. After that it's just a shitshow of twinking and cancer builds.

i tried really hard to like it to but dropped it halfway through my first build
even ds2 i made like 7-8 builds and played it for over 6 months
i couldn't force myself to like ds3 even though i tried

DaS3 has the worst PvP next to BB, unfortunately.

The balance started out awful and the patches never made it any better.

Straight swords and curved swords hard counter most other weapon types.

Invasions are shit because it prioritizes sending you to worlds where the host summoned as many people as they possibly could.

Lack of poise also prevents you from meaningfully fighting multiple other players unless they have shit for brains, so there's a good chance you're getting stunlocked to death at some point.

Gimmicky / sneaky stuff still sort of works for invasions though. Can shoot people off shit with great bows all day.

That bothered me in ds3. Seems like they could not decide if they wanted hexes to be their own thing or just let each casting school have dark spells. The latter is probably the best thing to do as I've tried to make a hexer but it sucks.

SoC is definitely less of a "game" than both sequels but as an "experience" it's a literal masterpiece and you can't help but feel nostalgic about that first time you wondered aimlessly around in the Zone
You can see a similar divide with MP games. Both sequels were arguably way more rich in terms of gameplay, but the atmosphere and the charming world of the first game is the reason why so many people claim it as their favorite

Literally adapt and learn to position yourself. Here's an effective playstyle: hitting the opponent with an offhand cestus, so you can easily follow up with a couple R1s from a UGS.

One of my biggest complaints about 3 was that they didn't bring over any of the good stuff from 2. No powerstancing and no NG+ stuff.

Those were like the only things 2 got right and they completely abandoned them just because they fucked up the rest of the game.

I played through COP and SOC again recently. COP is criminally underplayed and still broken in some ways, but holy hell its good and deserves to be recognized among the top tier of survival horror/FPS or immersive sims, what have you. SOC unfortunately doesn’t hold up that well IMO. The final sections of the game are an unbelievable slog with what feels like literally hundreds of enemies spawning in tight pitch black hallways. It just kind of shits the bed in the final act which all stalker games do to an extent. COP has fewer humans and more moody freeform exploration and questing which I prefer. Plus having three huge distinct maps with anomalies neingbtheir own miniature set pieces or puzzles is just great. It’s more game-y but it’s all just so goddamn good. Revcommemded mods for an enhanced vanilla experience are atmosfear which has fantastic looking foliage, and originalweapons renewal for far better looking and sounding weapon models without adding too much new shit

Why are some of the enemies bloodborne tier aggressive? That shit is not fucking fun, especially with the retarded rolling and just how slow it is, couple in with the fact that you can get stunned by a fucking throwing knife while equiping full havel. BB had its quicksteps, which compensated for the aggression displayed by enemies and its lack of poise.

Das2 had a lot of mechanics that made the game very replayable. I remember using a lot of bonfire ascetics in some early areas after having advanced equipment and enjoying the fuck out of them. I really don't know why the fuck did from soft just ignored all the good things that das2 brought to the table and chose to bring back some stupid shit from 1 like backstabs, backstabs in 2 actually felt good because it required a certain technique. Das3 development was obviously rushed.
