Why is Halo 2 on legendary so much harder than all other Halos on legendary? It's basically impossible to complete without hours of grinding and sheer luck to get you through.

Halo 2 on LASO is literally the most difficult game of all time (that's beatable)
Because it got rushed out the door so they didn't have time to playtest the Legendary difficulty and fine-tune it, so it shipped with what they figured was a ballpark idea of how hard it should be. Turns out they cranked it a bit too high.
this
If either of you die in coop and it restarts was the dumbest shit ever of legendary in halo 2
removal of health, enemies shoot stupidly fast
spv3 has a difficulty called noble which is similar to halo 2 legendary, it isn't very fun either
>he doesn't play exclusively with iron anyway
It's like you don't even want there to be a challenge.
>le opinion i regurgitated from le interwebz xd
Play truth and reconciliation on Halo 1 on legendary, solo. Then come back and talk
just save sniper ammo stupid
Play gravemind on heroic, faggot.
Go out of bounds and use tricks you scrub ass fucking zoomer
Someone educated me recently. It's because for some fucking reason, they thought it was a good idea to put a 1.5x flat damage multiplier on everything. Combine this with reducing Chief's health to Grunt levels and you get a game that feels like playing through CE legendary on one bar of health
Again, go try that and get back to me.
I did. It's nothing compared to T&R
I found CE more frustrating.
H2+ has more cheese you can exploit.
Just like the rest of SPv3.
Oh, so you're just incompetent. Never mind.
Oh hey, user, I see you're out of cover!
Did anyone else have a really hard time with Tsavo Highway? The parts that kill me the most seem to be vehicle sections for some reason actually.
I have beaten Halo 2 on legendary but cant beat Halo CE on legendary
jackal snipers are literally trial and error
Tsavo Highway is the only mission to give me trouble in that game. Every other one with vehicles gives you enough firepower to make sure they don't last very long.
Halo 1 is challenging, but still fair in terms of difficulty. Halo 2 Legendary is just bullshit.
Because you have next to no health. It's quite possible to be killed in less than a second even if the weapon hitting you is not a sniper weapon or rocket. Your shield takes about 2 shots from a plasma rifle, and your health seems to take a little bit more at full but not by much. What this results in is some random elite instantly pumping 10 shots into you and killing you.
I cleared this without ever using the plasma pistol's overcharge once. Aside from sniper alley/sniper valley segments, I basically just cleared everything from as far away as possible or tried to run my way through it. Carbine was my best buddy, and many Elites had to be baited into melee attacking, bashing them once, moving back as they raised to strike, and then hitting again, just to prevent them from firing their weapon and wasting me immediately. Grenades were good for the blue ones and fliers.
For the first level I had to pick up and drop every single weapon dropped by enemies or fallen allies (so they didn't deload) and go back when I ran out of ammo. I even carried some all the way to the hall so it would be shorter, via quickly picking them up and dropping them (throwing them forward a bit). Shit was fucking agony. I remember sitting in a pipe for a solid 20 minutes slowly sniping Jackals that ran up one staircase and stood in place once the previous one died. There's like 20 Jackal Snipers there (it's the big open park area just before you have to go into the city and hitch a ride on the scarab). I've played stealth games with sturdier protags than "upgraded armor" chief.
Microsoft has been all talk about PC gaming for how long now? I can see why people are optimistic, but I have this thought in the back of my head that they're either going to fall short of what we expect out of a PC port of games that, at the youngest, are 7 years old now?
I remember all the times that microsoft said they were making a serious commitment to PC and it turns out they didn't. I'm just applying some cautious hype because MS has a poor track record. I see many people defending 343 who would have otherwise shit all over them had a port not been announced.
There are basic things that I'm expecting them not to touch because it would be too much work. The HUD is one of them, these huds are going to (and already do) look like shit if you're playing on a monitor/high as or than 1080p. A lot of 2d assets from the games look fucking awful up close, and what's ironic is that halo 2 has a cleaner, sharper hud than halo 3. I'm not joking when I say that, btw.
With how autistic gamedev was back 20, 10 years ago, there's a really shitty niggered up "hud system" in place that would confuse the fuck out of anyone trying to make basic modifications such as replacing existing assets with re-draws. There's a lot of shit in these games, like H2V, where once people got their hands on the tools all they had to say was "what the fuck was bungie doing with this toolset lmao". Sure, mods came from H2v and HCE, but dude, I don't think anyone has any idea how ancient some of this shit really is. Halo 2 was fucked in development and I think there are going to be MANY issues cropping up from closing in on TWO FUCKING DEACDES ago.
Pic related, it's what Reach's UI looks like scaled to 1920x1080. It's not the worst offender, but if you want a hearty laugh, I'll post Halo 3's.
>Again, go try that
i've already done halo 1 legendary, suck my ass shitter
you only find it hard because it's the only level without a pistol
>enemies have pinpoint accuracy instakill headshot weapons
>they can shoot fast as fuck
>Elite shields are basically imprenetable so you need to carry a plasma pistol
>enemy health is so high you're fucked if you don't have a headshot capable weapon
>if you're missing either or out of ammo you're dead
nah the library is harder
the only stage that took me fucking hours to beat
the bugs are infinitely worse than the snipers, at least the jackals can get headshot instakilled and have their AI bug out all of the time
Health still exists, but you can't tell how much and it has weird triggers when it refils. I think its after checkpoints but I know some check points I die super fast.
this, can beat 2 and 3 legendary but 1 is a bitch
because of cheap Jackal snipers that one-shot you at any range with perfect accuracy
>Elite shields are basically impregnable so you need to carry a plasma pistol
this is only really a problem on the first 2 levels, every other level has an ample supply of sniper rifles that let you double tap them
It always bugged me how they spread out the ammo and grenades after Halo 1. That game had the perfect HUD layout.
Don't die, you doublenigger
Wtf? Xenia can get in game now on halo reach?
*clips you in the foot instantly killing you*
SQUAWK! GET DABBED ON HUMAN!
I've beaten both and honestly, the simple fact that I can't fucking see my health under my shield is what fucks me up in 2, beyond all the oneshotting.
1 has tons of ways that make it much easier. Most of the time when fighting covenant, it's possible to destroy whole hordes just by flashing out from behind cover. On Truth and Reconciliation, the only part I'd say was genuinely as frustrating as Halo 2's hardest parts was when you get beamed up with your guys and have to fight all those sword elites. It's fucking agonizing. I once beat it on a replay by just hiding in one of the spawn corridors and using grenades to instantly kill the goldies after baiting them into rushing me. They can't dodge as well in the corridors. The stealth segments and the fight near the lift weren't that bad really. I particularly like when I can immediately run up and waste the hunters in 2 shots, or if I can't do that, just running around them and shooting their backs.
they dont instakill on bodyshot though
they instakill anywhere.
How did they do it? How did Halo 2, in that absolute sea of development hell, come out with the best and most beloved multiplayer maps in the franchise?
I just played through on legendary a week ago and I am pretty damn sure I have taken bodyshots that only deleted my shields from them
Can it run mods?
no bodyshot jackal snipes drain your shields but they can follow up pretty quick
Based and Kig-Pilled
Yes, but you need a modded .xex (yes, .xex) in order to run mods such as unlocking all content (armor/SP/AI playgrounds). However you'll have to either do it yourself, go on xboxchaos or some shit and register an account to download a modded .xex file. I have a .xex for halo 3 that unlocks the entire SP. You'll also need to be able to extract contents of any x360 iso so you can drag/drop a .xex file.
FUCK KIGGERS!
Bring it on, shorty.
spv3 sucks
it literally just comes down to the jackals with insta-kill beam rifles being a surprise to people who played Halo 1, as well as enemies getting more grenade happy in legendary modes. Since master chief just has shield and reduced health, you're a bit squishier than normal too. Brute HP also is stupidly high. That said I beat them all as a kid on legendary, it's just a thing of learning sniper placement and just getting good at plasma pistol+headshotting and dual wield needler'ing the rest of the game.
It's really not as bad as it's made out to be.
came here to post this
>tfw plasma grenades don't EMP anymore
Why? They feel weaker and weaker with every game.
>Brute HP also is stupidly high
Brutes dont have shields and headshot weapons are fucking everywhere in Halo 2 which means they realistically have less health than elities
STUPID JACKAL
>cheesy electric guitar rendition of the theme starts playing
is there a more 'early 2000's' game than Halo 2?
What if I don't want to use headshot weapons all the time? What if I want to actually experiment with the weapons sandbox?
The first half was cool. The second half had literally nothing to make it interesting.
Snipers and inconsistent checkpoints
A single ebola strain can wipe out a species. Were it not for the Arbiter's counsel, I would have glassed the entire KANGZ.
sounds pretty faithful to the original campaign
Halo 2 was never meant to have any guitar, but Steve Vai showed up out of nowhere and asked if he could do some tunes.
>that one part where you drop down through the gravlift and are surrounded by enemies with next to no cover
Most of Halo 2 is doable as long as you play it slowly but that part is literally impossible. Only way through is is by pure luck.
Only gotta worry about that with that one skull, and they didn't really think them through for halo 2. In youtube.com
Halo 2 is incredibly early 2000s, which I guess is fitting since it was THE game of the early 2000s
>That
>Not the start of Gravemind where you're literally surrounded by Honor Guard Brutes with nothing but a Needler
I laugh to hide the pain.
The guitar remix is literally the best version.
the needler is ridiculously good against them though
>tfw get lucky and manage to not get noticed
>actually stealth through for the first time ever
>but forced to give it up when you rescue the marines
Yeah, except 90% of the time you literally can't survive two seconds after spawning into the level. You're standing in the middle of the room on a pedestal surrounded by Covenant.
Is it much harder than heroic? I completed it on PC not long ago without much difficulty.
I have legit +17k hours on Halo 2 (solo) at a point you just now all the IA's partern movments, you know all their spawns and timing, even crates turn to lethal weapons, you can kill hunters by standing on their head and forcing them to fall out of the map
WHERE BETA REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
it's a piece of cake
>>FEATURING MUSIC FROM KORN AND PAPA ROACH
I never knew the part about the hunters, but I have several thousand hours put into solo as well and I still hate the oneshotting. I've fucked around with CE and 2 so much I've even found ways to freeze flood and jump off of shit that I've never seen documented anywhere else.
CE and 2 are probably my most replayed games of all time. For a while, I'd play a level every night before bed.
>this is cheesy
youtube.com
>Fucking loved this game
>Was also fucking terrible at it
My online KD was like 0.4. To be fair I was like 14 at the time and had no concept of using high ground or corner peaking.
i agree it's nowhere near as good as any of the actual halo games, i mainly played it since at the time mcc for pc hadn't been announced and i didn't have a console to play any other halo games on so i was stuck with 1 and 2
i think parts of the second half were better actually
mainly the covenant in the library and some of the extended parts of two betrayals with the vtol were fun
>when your hard working coaxing some dumb elite through the tunnel pays off and you get the gun
it's surreal what a huge phenomenon Halo in general was back then
Brings a tear to my eye every time, what a work of art. We have been blessed to have seen this in our lifetime.
Because Halo 2 was rushed as fuck and instead of adding enemies and fine tuning the game, they increased enemy speed- it's all fucked on legendary. Halo 2 is actually kind of a mess game play wise, there are so many sections where you can just run past enemies instead of killing them.
Daily reminder that Reach had no plot
t. bad at video games
jesus christ Vai is like in a fucking trance, literally blinded by Halo's majesty
it didn't need any plot desu. if you played any of the prior games you knew from the start what was going to happen
I mean, cheesy isn't necessarily bad.
You had to save Reach.
same, in Halo 2 i've tried to domesticate the flood or AIs for a long time, sometimes it almost feel like the game is trying to evolve by itslef doing really weird movements, theses games truely have some kind of comfy weirdness
You spent 4 hours in the other thread contradicting yourself, first saying it didn't, then that it retconned some of muh book lore, then that the plot was bad. You're pathetic
Have sex
>Reachfags are normalfags
who would have thought
Halo CE is easy enough to solo on Legendary if you're good at playing the game. It's actually the only Halo in which this is the case.
Yeah, I would see how many pet flood I could make in CE, and the in 2 I found the best place to gather a lot of flood was just before chief jumps into the lift. Kill all the brutes and the jackal, then you have free reign to stand on the roofs or the energy cord and snipe their claws. It's always nice to leave the one with a beam rifle holding his weapon since he never fires it.
Ultra comfy game. Running on Heroic after doing legendary runs feels like a fresh breeze sometimes.
I remember I once took the banshee up to the bridge in CE, and busted all the covenant fighters I could to see the flood "win" when they almost always lose to the two wraiths.
I also had a little grunt with no weapon I'd leave alive in the one tunnel, he was a spec ops grunt surrounded by elites.
In 2 I made a parking lot of vehicles and lured some enemies there to watch them pick a vehicle.
For me it was protecting the Elite allies that spawn in the Floodgate mission in Halo 3. I always prioritized the red one, and tried to keep him alive until the end of the mission
That's me, but with the grunts in the first arby level. Longest I've gotten them to live is half way down the big-ass elevator in the last half of the mission.
>Master Chief is the weakest unit in the game aside from a flood spore pod
>Enemies are super accurate, fire the plasma repeater faster than possible by a human, and will continue to fire at the last place they saw you so they don't need to reacquire if you peek
>nerfed shotgun, nerfed pistol
>Elites can now 1 shot you in melee
I feel you, it makes me happy that someone else is doing this with theses games
you're right. as a kid I thought that Halo CE's legendary was piss easy compared to the sequels, but as I grew up I just realized that the sequels had horrible balance issues and CE is probably the only one that the devs actually put care in to balance all the difficulty levels accordingly
Don't forget that
>When chief enters a vehicle, said vehicle gets less health than it would have if chief wasn't in it
Parts you struggled with the most in each game
>Halo CE: That part after you kill Keyes where the Spec Ops elites are waiting for you in the Hangar Bay
>Halo 2: Intro room of Gravemind
>Halo 3: The Scorpion part of The Ark with the Scarab
>Halo ODST: Coastal Highway until you get the Scorpion
>Halo Reach: Assaulting the bunker with the 2 Chieftans in Exodus
>Halo 4: The big vehicle battle right before you board the Lich
>Halo 5: First Warden fight.
it's due to the weird way vehicle health was connected to the character's health, in Halo CE it made sense because vehicles actually were indestructible (aside from Covie vehicles in SP)
Halo 2 was really weird in a lot of ways if you went into directly from playing through Halo CE
???
I've beat halo 2 legendary twice and it's easy as fuck
>grinding
what the fuck? halo is an FPS there is no way to grind retard
You play on normal difficulty then since that's the only difficulty where you're allowed to have fun on Halo 2. Heroic and legendary you have to have a headshot capable weapon on you at all times like a BR or carbine or die repeatedly.
>implying hoarding a vast quantity of sniper rifles and dragging them across the map isnt a form of grinding
>be me
>breeze trough Halo 1 on legendary on the PC
>actually have to check if im on the right difficulty because i remembered it being harder
>try anniversary on the xbox
>couldn't even get past the first part of the map due to the shitty aim assist and not being able to move and turn around quickly enough
Yeah halo 1 is hard if you play it on a console.
Anyone hungry?
Rushed development, Bungie admit that legendary is unneccessarily difficult, meaning it's literally impossible to beat it without cheating and using bugs or hoping on luck.
Halo 1 legendary is the only one that was well done tho
>meaning it's literally impossible to beat it without cheating and using bugs or hoping on luck
sounds like you never actually beat it on legendary
good question, it has the best maps in the series for competitive, doubles, and btb.
CE is hands-down the best 2v2 game, though.
OP here, I finally finished the first mission of H2 on legendary, took me a while though.
That part with the 20 something elites that come out is easily the hardest part of the entire legendary play-through, if you can make it past that you have it in you to beat it
Because fuck M$.
Godspeed, user. You have more patience than I.
Ah cool thanks, that's good to know, yeah I assume you mean when they're coming out of the Covenant pod in the hangar. Well, either of the hangar sections with multiple Elites, they're both very hard.
I've seen people online saying that the hardest bit of the game though is on the mission Gravemind? Obviously I'm nowhere near that bit yet (just started the second mission) - but do you think that bit is not as hard as Cairo Station?
Also obviously people online talk about Jackal snipers but I guess if you learn where they are then they should be relatively simple to deal with, I hope.
user you know nothing of the snipers. Welcome to hell.
I love the classic jackals. Why did 343 make them absolutely horrible.
Because it was unfair. Fuck gravemind and fuck outskirts
>he didn't just run on the rooftops in outskirts
user, i...
You've never played Halo 2 on legendary, its literally broken. Halo CE has the easiest.
>Why did 343 make [Halo] absolutely horrible.
The eternal question...
Halo Infinite will redeem the franchise, user. It's the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
True. I get wanting to make the series, "theirs" but the basic design changes of the covenant just blow my mind.
>Halo CE: That part after you kill Keyes where the Spec Ops elites are waiting for you in the Hangar Bay
>Halo Reach: Assaulting the bunker with the 2 Chieftans in Exodus
you can literally just run past these
I'm sorry but the real hardest part is yet to come. Regret. Regret. Regret.
I beat this game on legendary when I was a kid. It couldn't have been as hard as you're making it out to be.
>Infinite will redeem the franchise
Cant, the plot and story is unsalvageable. The only thing they could fix is the multiplayer and even then I cant imagine them going back on all the stupid shit they added like jetpack nonsense.
Oh it is, user. You see, kids are much less prone to getting frustrated at absolute bullshit because they do not recognise or understand the concept of bullshit. Halo 2 is a God forsaken fucking nightmare. Gravemind on Legendary will make you want to fucking kill yourself, and that's not even the worst offender.
You can also swordfly through half the levels in 2 so that's kind of a moot point.
The hardest part of the game is actually the gondola in the level Quarantine Zone assuming you don't cheese it.
Hey user.
Sword flying was removed from the Halo 2 Vista version of the game, which is what the MCC uses.
>Big Team Battle
>Multi Flag on Waterworks
>tfw i cheesed it in co op with lots and lots of running and jumping to avoid jackal snipes so i could get the helioskrill armor in halo 5 (which 343 later just gave to everyone anyways) THANKS 343
Well I guess I'll worry about that whenever it's ported. For now, I only play the original Xbox version.
They haven't fully updated the second half yet, that comes out in June
people cheesed the first game on coop by having one person hang back and the other clear
WORT WORT WORT
user that's racist you can't say that!
I know the trailer was mostly for showing off the engine but they're clearly going for a soft reboot.
The story could still be good as long as they ignore Halo 5.
Thanks man. I should probably do something more productive with my time but oh well.
Well damn, I'll expect the worst then.
Which part is that? Sorry I'm not too familiar with the Halo 2 campaign, haven't played it in years. The bits I've seen on the internet as being particularly difficult are the Gravemind mission and any part involving Jackal snipers.
Ah right, due to the Jackal snipers I'm guessing?
>Due to the Jackal Snipers
No. Flood Shotgun Snipers and lack of checkpoints.
Halo 2 had campaign multiplayer. It was designed for 2 people, so solo is harder.
>lack of checkpoints.
I thought that checkpoints in Halo were decided completely at random based on time intervals
>infinite
>Chief wakes up still adrift in Forward Unto Dawn
>Sudden flashback of 343lore gives him a headache
>"What was that? Cortana?"
>"Oh, I just ran some what-ifs while you were sleeping, Chief. It seems your neural implants made you dream some of it"
>"Are we needed?"
>"Seems so."
The next game now begins where 3 left off, everything afterwards was just a bad nightmare.
>FLOOD WITH FUCKING ROCKET LAUNCHERS IN QUARANTINE ZONE
Halo CE legendary is fuckin easy, 3 gave me more trouble
2 is flat out BS, I gave up after 2 levels
Yeah but in Halo 2 they're kind of messed up. I've had playthroughs where I got more than halfway through Sacred Icon without dying only to die once and get sent back all the way to the beginning for example.
Since the whole series is on PC now is it like 3's peak multiplayer wise? I miss those custom games so fucking much.
I fucking wish
There’s a lot of moments in 2 where the game just shits instakill jackal snipers at you, like the park in Metropolis or the vehicle segment of Uprising.
Regret is that but stretched out to the entire level, topped off with a boss fight against infinitely respawning honor guards.
>Getting sniped by the Scorpion tank that flies by.
Jackal snipers.
>ONLY THE STRONGEST WILL SURVIVE
The real question is why halo 2 anniversary doesn't have a legendary-lite difficulty buffing the chief just enough to not get one-shot, With the original legendary being toggle-able with a skull or something.
LEEEEEEEEAD ME TO HEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAVEN WHEN WE DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I literally have not found another multiplayer game to take Halo's place ever other than Left 4 Dead. I dropped the series with 4 and all my friends have moved onto fuckin dota or whatever assfaggots shit they play so I need something.
Halo 1 on legendary is much fairer than Halo 2's legendary. It's not really hard but will punish you for making stupid mistakes or being too aggressive.
Halo 2's legendary will force you to replay certain sections until you execute them perfectly.
Halo 5
>17 fps
Hell no I hate 343 but might try Halo Wars 2 though.
Where my wort wort wort niggas at?
OMG, just obtain the envy skull, bro.
Stay away from our women.
>Halo 5
>multiplayer

HEEEEEEEEEEEEY......IT'S ME!
In case you didn't know, Halo 2 had a notoriously brutal and rushed development. Literally the entire game as it is was made in about a year and a half. Halfway through development they had to restart all work they had done on it because the engine they were using was simply too advanced and unoptimized for the original Xbox to handle. They saved all the assets they could, like models, textures, etc. and then they had to write a completely new engine in a matter of months. The story went through a few revisions during development, and the final one we got was nowhere near what Bungie originally wanted. In short, they didn't have time to properly fine tune the game, which is why the battle rifle and bruteshot are so OP, and why tons of glitches exist, and certain levels feel unfinished.
>blinded by Halo's majesty
Right here my dude.
I seriously hope armour customisation gets un-fucked for the PC version of the game; the default torso and shoulders are boring and I don't want to be stuck using them purely for the head.
>go through teleporter to rocket bridge with flag
>see both teams fighting it out while sneaking awaying
Max comfy
Is this, dare I say it, the most kino Halo song of all time?
h2 on legendary literally almost made me kill myself i was raging at bullshit so hard. i've never been so frustrated at a game before. fucking jackal shits.
>22:43:48
I want to strangle everyone that posts this fucking wojack edit
We're all going home, user.
How did they kill Halo so badly? 3 was the perfect ending and Reach as much as some don't like it was a good final Halo from Bungie. Why didn't they just make more spinoffs like ODST and Reach? I didn't play 4 and 5 but I heard the spartan ops modes had good little side stories.
>phoneposters
Is they never followed the Prophet of Regret, would the Covinent have been blown up by Halo?
>Heh, nothing personal
>btb assault on containment
Can't wait, bros.
>One Flag on Terminal
We're going home lads.
Project Cartographer or ElDewrito.
FOLLOHOW
FOLLOHOW
FOLLOHOW
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHH
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
too bad it plays at the fucking lamest part in the entire god damn campaign
ODST is the best game.
The part is actually really fun. It's a huge ass base with tons of spawning enemies, it's just a case of most people skipping the entirety of the segment by just flying to the other end. I always drag it out as long as possible.
Do people actually like The Flood or whatever the enemies of 4 and 5 are? Covenant levels are the best and anyone that says otherwise is retarded.
Halo checkpoints are definitely NOT based on time intervals, unless you mean the devs timed themselves running through the levels, and put checkpoints at what they thought were regular time intervals - but I don't think that's true either.
The checkpoints seem to be scripted into the game, usually triggered by moving past a certain point, or by enemies being killed, or maybe triggered straight after a cutscene (e.g. in Halo 3 when you have to kill 343 Guilty Spark - a checkpoint is triggered right after the cutscene just before you kill him, so if 343 kills you then you will respawn right after the cutscene).
>WATERWORKS WILL NEVER EVER BE REMADE
The Flood are a good challenge, I mean I fucking hate them in the sense that I want to fucking destroy them and shoot them in the fucking face, but it's a good challenge.
And yeah the Prometheans are great too. Again, challenging, but they're a different challenge from other enemies, so it mixes the gameplay up. I like them. Although I think there should be more explanation of why they look so different from other Forerunner architecture and design. I guess it's because the Didact is a rogue and he made the Prometheans himself.
Nah just hoard power weapons and skip needless engagements. It's still hard af but with enough patients it's really doable
>had the rock soundtrack
>had the white/clean lab on a gas-giant level
>the brown African mega-city (I dont know why they got rid of it for ODST)
Halo 2 was a very 2000s game, some of the maps wouldnt have been out of place in a ps2 Armored Core game
this is the best helmet in the series say something nice about it
>ywn clear out rooms of enemies with a rocket launcher and duel SMGs to Vai's shredding guitar riffs ever again
Why didn't they give Linda this helmet instead of SCOPES
Only the big bionicle Prometheans were fun to play against. Fuck the crawlers, though. Swarmer-type enemies are annoying as hell and lazy design.
Flood are a nice change of pace where you're always running away from them and killing only the ones in your way. As opposed to the Covenant, which you can just genocide calmly. Covies are the best enemy faction, though, especially when they have Elites on the front lines.
Man, all Halo 3 really needs is some better tectures. Hopefully applying some AF when it comes to PC will sharpen it up nicely

>there's a fucking Promethean with a sniper at the other end of it
Honest to God the most bullshit frustrating thing in history. At least the you could hide from the jackals and pick them off, literally the only way to get past that fucker was for the AI to be stupid and do the charge melee attack instead of shooting.
343 & visors a shit. will infinite have more armor customization i could look past the awful designs if they let me pick and choose the parts.
WAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
OMG get the IWBYD skull and we get to talk later.
I think the texture work was pretty good. In Theatre you could zoom in on any object and it had small bumps and scratches with bump-mapping and no flat colors. What it's missing is a higher poly count on everything.
H2A is soulless
>changes the entire gas mine into generic lol-forrunner design instead of retaining the white/clean lab
>gets rid of all the cheesy 2000s stuff
>changes the atmosphere of several levels, changes sounds on the warthogs to the point where all warthog segments have to be played in classic graphics
>DUDE BLUR LMAO pre-rendered cinimatics ruin the kino in-game cutscenes, you will never see H2a ingame cutscenes

>they took out the weird chirping on High Charity
>Halo 2 Anniversary visuals
>Change soundtrack and audio to Classic
Done, problem solved.
Better than CEA by a mile. But I do prefer CE's graphics over 2's.
Can I get a pair of those nostalgia goggles?
Lol you're literally bitching about nothing. H2A is a great remaster.

>That room in Halo 2 on Legendary in the space station with all the Grunts and Elites that funnel through the docked ship
Literally unfair. That room is 100% luck based.
>Hardest level from Halo CE
>Not even The Library or Two Betrayals

You were saying, faggot?

Pay special attention to the background music in the classic graphics when Truth is showing arbiter the mausoleums caskets
there's also the flood lab battle that gets rid of the rock track and replaces it with a sad sounding warble
show of hands. how many of you niggas stayed up to see the midnight release on g4?
The new cutscenes are a real mixed bag though, alot of the movement is just cut and makes some scenes look awkward like the last scene before the final boss
Thats personal preference you have no argument here other than muh nostalgia.
You have no idea the jewel-heist levels of sneakery I had to pull to secure a TV and watch that without my parents knowing I was up that late
user, if you don't like the new audio, literally change the audio in the settings to Classic while still retaining the new visuals.
>that whispering in the classic graphics
uh what is that saying
Why is Starcraft 2 WoL on brutal so much harder than all other Starcrafts? It's basically impossible to complete without hours of grinding and sheer luck to get you through.
>Tfw staying up late and watching TV with the volume super low and watching shit like MXC
Sometimes I miss those days.
Holy shit you're literally crying about nothing.

>I have walked among men and angels for 3,000 years.
Time has no end, no beginning, no purpose.
I wandered the earth seeking forgiveness for my horrible crimes against God and man.

I live in a prison of my own demise. I am lost in time.
That's putting it LIGHTLY, the AI had less animations and options. Like one of the reasons why the HECU marines in Half-life work better than the combine in half-life 2 is because they had more animations and options based on what the player was doing. Where is in Half-life 2 the combine wall hacked the player constantly, threw grenades where ever you were even if you never appeared in vision, only command was to walk toward the player and shoot. The only thing they could do over the HECU marines was they could shoot while moving. If you don't make enough animations or options in the AI then it won't function worth a rats ass. It's one of the reasons why you some times just see Elites climb on crates over and over again.
MXC was such a great show and watching chinks fall on their faces is based. Now we have trannys and 600 lb retards so I think we took a step back.
WHEN WE JOINED THE COVENANT
WE TOOK AN OATH
Halo 2 AI set to KILL
>tfw I have to play exclusively on legendary to enjoy the story because I'll fucking destroy the game otherwise
>Tartarus... the Prophets have betrayed us...
>No, Arbiter! The Great Journey has begun. And the Brutes, not the Elites, shall be the Prophets' escort!
WHEN I JOINED THE CORPS WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY FANCY SCHMANCY TANKS
WE HAD STICKS
TWO STICKS
AND A ROCK
AND WE HAD TO SHARE THE ROCK
When did earthworm jim grow titties?
>Someone properly outlined this image
I had a dream of what the Great Journey would have looked like if everything had gone to plan, I pictured most of the covenant empire making camp around the control room, with lots of white robes, ebony white covenant architecture
there'd be several days of festivity, one last union before the ascension, I imagined the lights dieing down on landed covenant ships, no weapons in sight anywhere, the prophets crossing a light-bridge across the chasm to the control room with the whole empire below them
>Literally unfair. That room is 100% luck based.
I know exactly the one you're talking about. There were times I ran out of ammo on that section because nothing I had would blow through the elites shields fast enough after wasting the grunts, and breaking cover to go collect plasma pistols and needlers was a near insta-death.
It's really not.
Halo Reach was far harder on Legendary with Covenant Elites that could literally facetank 4 direct sticky grenades. Literally the only way to play was to use plasma pistol to down shields and DMR or Sniper to headshot.
At least in Halo 2 you can use more than 2 weapons.
It lacks any cues for the player, in half-life with the HECU or the Elites and others in Halo 1 they would give a sound and visual cue for the player. They would point you out or get startled or move into adjacent cover. The higher the difficulty this would decrease how often it happened, but it would STILL happen. If I had been on the design team and I know how hindsight this is, but I would have done like a lens flash or a laser flicker in your eyes or SOMETHING. The fix they had for this in Halo 3 was lazy as all fuck, they put searchlights on them and then put carbiners near them to give them away.
git gud, as soon as you enter double back behind the crates, there's a dead marine with a BR, pick that upm go up the steps, one nade to kill the turret grunts, get their plasma rifles, stick the gold elite, BXR and PP the elites, frags for grunt control, e z
itd be a big fuckin orgy and then theyd all fuckin die lol
>At least in Halo 2 you can use more than 2 weapons.
Are we playing the same Halo 2? The Plasma Pistol combined with a Carbine/BR are mandatory.
How come the fucking Dave and Busters Halo game has a better looking version of the Anniversary model than actual Anniversary
>legendary so much harder than all other Halos on legendary?
what? i find halo 3 harder than halo 2. 2 gives you way more convenient checkpoints than 3 and is more fucking broken mechanically.
Doesn't the MCC have an achievement for beating Halo 2 LASO? The autistic completionist in me is gonna have to suffer through that. Halo 2 LASO seriously requires the patience of a saint to get through.
They really need to shrink those shoulder pads
>waaah hold my hand
git gud FAG, Cheif is a super soldier, play him like one
the only cue the player needs is to get good.
>the hardest difficulty is TOO HARD FOR ME :((((((((((((((
bunch of fucking women
It's a combination of two things
1) The 343 model has to use the exact same proportions as the CE model, because both "games" are running at once
2) 343 has a really bad tendency of not shrinking down the fucking plating and instead shrinking the limbs and bodysuit underneath. Look at Chief's elbows between the upper arm and forearm on the 343 model to the left, his elbows are fucking Peewee Herman tier.
Doesn't look like a nigger with his pants hanging below his ass like CEA.
Shrink the shoulders, stop coloring all of the metal plates green, too many little details are just noise, shrink the diaper. Give me Pouches.
90% of Halo 2 was ugly as fuck- even when it came out- and you know it.
Halo 2 took a massive downgrade in graphics it hurt.
>went to a Halo 2 lan party at a friend of a friend's Halloween 2005
>walked there holding a burning torch, no fucks given
>projector displaying against a huge wall in their den
>friend scored a hilarious triple with a rocket launcher on containment
>walk back to his place later jumpscaring trick or treaters
I just want to go back
I don't understand the whole Great Journey belief, did all the Hierarchs for centuries know it was a load of bullshit and the whole galaxy would die but just kept going on about it to stay in power and keep the Covenant in line? Also Truth said they prayed for the discovery of another Halo suggesting they only knew about 04 but then how did Regret know to jump immediately to Delta Halo after he fucked up on Earth?
Because the game's engine it shipped with was made in like three months. The first one had to be scrapped after a year and a half because it was unusuable.
>Literally the only way to play was to use plasma pistol to down shields and DMR or Sniper to headshot.
>hard
bruh. halo reach legendary was a fucking joke
youtube.com
halo 2 has the most kino OST
They didn't know the gaylos were murderfuck weapons, just that Humanity were supposed to be inheritors of the Forerunner's technology and should be the de-facto leaders of the Covenant, and not the prophets. Regret knew the location because the upper echelon of the Covenant somehow discovered the location of another installation. Truth lies, my dude.
"The prophets have betrayed us." We can assume at least Truth knew what they Halos really did.
Because they hired incompetent idiots.
it plays better but i think halo2's maps are better
Why is the mouthpiece so tall?
that's false, the entire level of gravemind is a fuckin beast of a level and the intro is particularly annoying
shut up nerd
How did Regret know where Delta Halo was located and how to teleport there? If the Covenant's ultimate plan is to activate a Halo ring why didn't they do that before? Also what was the point of Truth invading Earth in 3 if he just decided to fuck off and teleport to the Ark?
HOW IS IT SO HARD TO MAKE MARK V LOOK GOOD, 343?
JUST PORT THE FUCKING OG XBOX MODEL OVER AND BUILD AROUND IT.
Because the portal to the Ark was on Earth, remember? It was literally buried under Africa.
Stop making sense user.
The covenant were not able to interface with forerunner tech at all. They couldn't get computers to work or access data banks because the technology only worked for those carrying the Forerunner gene. Chief was probably the first thing to speak to Guilty Spark since the rings originally fired.
That's what Saber did for If the you combine the CEA shaders plus the Dave n Busters skeleton it wouldn't look too bad but they still need to trim the shoulders and fix the helmet
343 made the Dave and Busters model though.
Don't forget the cutscenes people like to fap to.
>makes Arbiter look like a bitch in front of Brutes
>replace Arbiter's voice at times with generic Elite screams
>Arbiter already has the Mark of Shame before he's even burned
>Backwards Phantom
>Sacred Icon cutscene taking place during the day
>Maranda grabbing a rope instead of the Gravemind's tentacle
>Maranda's entire appearance
>shitty cinematography in the Gravemind cutscene
>Lens flare up the ass
>crushed blacks
>delay before Master Chief says finishing the fight
They should have just remade Halo 1 and 2 from the ground up.
the biggest crime is bookending the whole story with a tie-in to Halo 5
Actually yeah this is a good question. 25000 lightyears isn't the whole galaxy and considering humans never stumbled on Delta Halo it must not be too close to any colonies.
Backwards phantom and MoS before being branded? Not trying to dispute, do you have timestamps to these?
thank god someone else remembers and not just me, he was calling everyone trannies instead of making an argument
keep up the good work user
pretty sure it was well established that had all the gaylos gone off everyone would die including humans
A pseudo-boomer put out a video essay on this. I think this is succinct enough, but I'm not really a Halo guy, just a lorefag.
>youtube.com
Hell, CE isn't even the second most difficult. I completed all games on legendary and unlocked all the achievements in CE and i'd rank them like this in terms of difficulty:
2 > Reach > 4 > CE > 5 > 3 > ODST
Oh man that is fucking shameful.
Halo 1 and 3 on Legendary are so easy on Halo 2. It's actually possible to keep your marines alive sometimes in those games while in Halo 2 it's barely possible to keep yourself alive practically all the time.
Acting like any other Halo other than 2 is the hardest is a meme opinion.
TONS of rooms in H2A are dark as fuck in comparison to OG graphics.
me and a pal were doing a legendary co-op run and we had to change to OG so we could get our bearings OFTEN. a classic situation would be:
>i walk into a dark building, pal is following
>cant see shit
>"hang on gonna switch to dogshit mode"
>press back for OG graphics, look around, go back to H2A graphics
"dogshit mode" must have been spoken atleast once every 5 minutes
also due to this we encountered tons of what i think are strange design choices. areas that are completely lit up and reflective on dogshit mode are matte black and dull in H2A
>It's actually possible to keep your marines alive sometimes in those games while in Halo 2 it's barely possible to keep yourself alive practically all the time.
just give the marines snipe rifles dude, I just did a run through delta halo yesterday and had 2 marines make it to the end
>halo2
>game is so broken you can cheese more than half the mother fucking game
you guys did skip the entirety of mombasa level right? just go on top of the buildings to skip the first part and then banshee it up the 2nd?
You also can't fucking see when fire the carbine in the new graphics.
To answer the last question, some Covenant Elite found a luminary that told Regret where the Ark Portal and the remaining six rings were. Since Regret is more of a legitimate zealot than the other two prophets (until Halo 3 took a crap all over Truth's character lol) he acted immediately without doing any recon
It's fun doing that but eventually I got bored of that and just play the fame the regular way.
But it's still always fun dancing all around those roofs, wish other Halos had stuff like that.
>he didn't have an incineration cannon ready to go after every teleport
i shiggy diggy
Relic and Terminal are so kino
WHERE IS MY FUCKING BETA 3v4 INDUSTRIES FUCK YOU REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
YEP i definitely remember that
i think i remember the chiefs torch only being useful in dogshit mode cause it was just blinding in H2A
theres tons of stuff really, like i say it was interesting to see though rather than annoying, plus i really do get a kick out of fighting 4 honor guards and going DOGSHIT MODE DOGSHIT MODE cause i dunno what the fuck is happening
Who wants to play a game in Project Cartographer?
why would I want to play with Yea Forums when I could join any of the spic lobbies?
>>Master Chief is the weakest unit in the game aside from a flood spore pod
I've heard this a lot, is it actually true?
Literally what the fuck was Bungie thinking making Chief weaker than a Grunt?
i would never play any sort of competitive game with Yea Forums in 2019, fuck around games are fine but alot of people are horrible at video games here
its only true in the context of legendary. you could make the same statement about Halo 3 LASO
the vista PC port was so bad though, they wont use that for MCC
Yea Forums is probably horrible at Halo but when it comes to stuff that isnt mainstream Yea Forums is usually pretty good
I don't like playing with spics because of their slow ass third world internet
So they are just like anyone else in the Americas
you idiots are going to die tired and scared
let the REAL light infantry get to work
yeah i'd agree with that
of course the other problem is how insufferable they can be
you know the type of american who constantly sounds like they're 17 and they talk from the nose? man that sets me off so much
i'd take a barely-english-speaking russian to a fully fluent gaylord american any day
"normal" americans are fine its just the ones who sound like theyre 17 and that everything they say is topkek
Yes, american internet speeds are rated amongst the worst, but somehow third world countries manage to have even shittier connections, plus have you actually played Halo with any spics? they literally just spout gibberish (I speak Spanish) followed by ":vvvvv", it's like brazilians with the "kkkkkk"
Has anyone ever figured out how Halo 2's dialogue is so amazing? Practically every line the Covenant characters and Gravemind says is amazing.
How did they do it? It wasn't like this in CE or 3, and that's not throwing shade on those games but Halo 2 was just an entire league above.
Was it Joe Staten? He was the lead writer right? Wasn't he in Bungie while they made all Halos up to Reach, why didn't they all have dialogue like that? It's so good dude.
Because it's a good game from a good time. Why the heck shouldn't the hardest difficulty be nigh impossible to beat? You can just not play it, but it's there for people looking for some gaming masochism. That's the problem nowadays that devs are scared of adding too hard optional modes because completionists (ultrafaggots) will cry on reddit if they can't get everything with relative ease.
There's a Dave and Busters Halo game? What?
>american internet speeds are rated amongst the worst
Sounds just about right, charge the shit out of us because they can and no one will say otherwise.
What the fuck? How did nobody catch this?
I had no idea this was a thing, neat.
>Hunters vs Flood Juggernauts
Holy shit the Juggernauts finally made it into a game (sort of)? How was I unaware of this?
Is this anywhere close to being canon?
this is just conjecture but i find that for trilogies, the 2nd installment is either always completely worthless, or a complete masterpiece which perfectly links the two things
I think so. Its set during CE. Here's a full playthrough
youtube.com
My entire childhood would be banned in this day in age because of fucking FAGGOTS AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Huh, Maj. Silva was in the novelization of Halo 1 I'm pretty sure. He was a heel character to Chief and verbally shat all over him for being the last surviving Spartan. Been a long time since I read The Flood though.
as cool as this is Time Crisis 2 will always be the superior cabinet shooter
When is this tranny in America problem being taken care of?
