When playing as Jason, why am I unable to use my weapons sometimes? They just vanish from inventory randomly it seems.

Your weapons level down when you get hit. You'll get an item that will protect you from losing them, but if you are still hit too soon after it protects you will lose power. It will put a red barrier around your weapon power gauge when in effect.

The game expects you to abuse the counter, don't be afraid of it. use it like you would any other weapon. And keep your eyes open for those reticles.

You do get an upgrade fairly early on that allows you to take a hit before your gun level goes down, so it does get a bit more manageable.

I was thinking that'd probably be the a good way to do it. I'd personally rather have the DLC take place after the main game, but doing some story missions with the various pilots would be really neat

it'd be nice if they would add a mutant variant for their respective bosses but I am pretty sure they wont go that far.

Presumably copies of themselves, since there's no plot anyway and so they don't have to justify a reason for a mirror match.

They'll likely skip the fight with Planade-G (no G-System to fight it with) and redo the Rift as a "final test", with a unique layout for each character that puts all their abilities to the limit before fighting Drolrevo Mastro (no cocoon phase).

It's a digital only title, it just released not long ago so I wouldn't expect a sale soon. Physical seems unlikely, but other games I thought would never get physical releases have got 'em. It's only $10 so if it looks cool to you give it a shot
