I didn't mind it as a story, would be fine but flawed if I just read a synopsis. In practice, the sheer length of Angelic Howl is a disgrace. During Day 2 I was already praying for it to be over soon, then it ended up over two weeks? How hard can you labour a point? And with the worst BGM in the route, too.
As an odd personal nitpick, her positivity being largely false just made her a little worse for me, yet the equivalent part in Tsukihime affected me.

Oh for sure it was way too long. Probably has a lot to do why I disliked it. It overstayed its welcome. If you do come back to it you might want to avoid Yumiko's route, or at least save it for last as it also went on for way too long with some parts even if I didn't necesarily dislike the route itself. Michiru's route had the most enjoyable pacing to me and I ended up liking her more after her route compared to common route. Moreso than I did with the others compared to their routes.

And you should keep the light-hearted mood throughout the character route if you can't think of any good reason to start/have the drama. No, it really didn't. You're flat-out told Amane is the only survivor so there's zero suspense, and in terms of "despair" it's really not that bad. Maybe it's because I read shit like euphoria before Grisaia but I never really felt bad for any of the characters in Amane's route. I barely even know them anyway.

Also, I remember the h-scenes being both shit and way to frequent in that route since they couldn't put any in once the actually story started.

Foreknowledge can work wonderfully in certain circumstances but it doesn't work at all in Amane's route. They would have been way better off keeping it so that Amane was never told about who did and didn't survive for the sake of her mental health, and she only ends up finding out when they go to visit the memorial. Have the "flashback" happen totally separately from anything else that happens in the route. I feel no despair watching a bunch of characters I know are doomed to die die.

I can't really agree. I understand that you thought the example was done poorly, but you can have knowledge of what will happen and still have a good story. I think the prequel trilogies of Star Wars are a good example: you know Yoda goes into exile, Obiwan is disgraced, Anakin becomes Darth Vader, the Republic Falls, pretty much everyone who doesn't show up in the OT dies, etc. but it's still a ride from start to finish to see how everything falls apart.
