Anyway there's really no reason not to port it since it's the same engine from DANA. I like being able to marathon an entire series on one comfy system. I just finished playing all of hideos games (snatcher, policeniggers, mg1,2 mgs1,2,3, ghost babel and boktai 1-3) all on my vita. maximum comfy.
I'm gonna do the same with Ys this summer, start with 1&2 on the PSP and work my way up.

As for the cat girl actually being a cat boy, the Ys party system games have always had a balance in term of characters. So 3 males, 3 females in Celceta and 8. I forget about Seven, but I'm sure it was balanced as well.

With that said, we have 3 possibilities:
1. The cat girl is indeed a girl, so there's 2 more male party members.
2. The cat girl is a boy, and so it is balanced like all things should be.
3. The cat girl is a girl, but no one cares about balance cause more girls.

The only added difficulty it gets is that you actually have to dodge shit since you can't just tank hits and heal after like on proud mode and below. lv1 crit doesn't somehow make the gameplay any deeper, just slightly more engaging. It's no ninja gaiden or DMC. A kid can beat all the FM+ fights by spamming reflect and rolling sometimes.
I say this as someone who played literally every single KH (other than the mobile trash) hated the fuck out of 3 and autistically beat mysterious figure with terra in BBSFM.
The only 2 KH games with any kind of gameplay depth are GBA COM proud no-HP, and re:coded level 1 critical.
COM because replica riku will fuck you in the ass raw and recoded because critical lets you upgrade and unlock commands really early, and it's the best KH gameplay wise.
dana tries and it's shit. falcom just can't do 3D and there's only so many times I can replay flemghana and origin. dana just feels like a generic corean f2p mmo and this shit company is lucky I'm so attached to their red haired faggot and I keep buying their trash full price.

Not a single game in Ys requires you to know anything about others to understand it, with the exception of Ys2 but that's why Ys1 and 2 are bundled together.

I went Ark then Oath then Origin, which I feel works better cause each one gets more polished and fun than the last. Unless you really want to do it in story order but besides maybe doing Origin after 1 and 2 I don't think its worth it.
