Cyan Games Thread

aka don't mind me just on my way to page 10

Discuss various games from Cyan, such as the Myst series, Obduction, Cosmic Osmo, The Manhole, and their new (((kickstarter))) game, Firmament.

You'd have more success in /vr/ OP. I'd join you, but Myst is on my to-play list and I don't want any puzzle spoilers.

anyone have any torrents

I was suprised Firmament is being kickstarted. Have they really failed to make enough money to fund a game themselves, even after Obduction and the Myst series re-release?

I fucking LOVE the myst series. I played the first game when I was young. I would watch my dad play the game and wanted to do it myself. It took me ages, but eventually I beat it. I tried playing Riven but never beat it when I was younger. Last year I revisited the series with my brother and we beat Riven, and then played through and beat Exile. Exited to eventually play the next game. Are any of their other non-myst series games any good?

IIRC they put the 2018 trailer out in order to find a publisher to help fund it. No publisher bit the bait though, so here we are.

I enjoyed Obduction.

>long time ago Myst was the best selling game on PC, now devs need to kickstart their game because it's so niche
I wish there was bigger market for these games.

I've never played the first Myst. What's the best version to try it ?

me too

Masterpiece Edition

I also want to know this

Is this a contraversial opinion?

Cyan are publishing someone else's game though aren't they? Weird that they wouldn't have the funds to release their own game

Ok thanks.

I think that's more of a special case since one of Zeb's creators is Chuck Carter, who was one of the key people behind the original Myst.

Have they made a better game than Riven?

>Zeb
Zed*, been watching too much EmptyHero lately.

Figuring out the numerical system and the major puzzles in Riven is one of my first great game experiences.

Everything's in there.

no it was a genuinely good game.
some brainlet jurno made an article about it being too hard but even others made fun of him for it.

I love prerendered PC graphics from that time. Myst, Syberia, l'Amerzone, the Nancy Drew Games, ...

>took notes and made drawings while playing Riven
>had no problems with firemarble puzzle
>only hint I had to look up was about closing the cave's door on boiler island
